Hello Adventurers! As Valentione's Day has just passed us by, we thought now would be a great time to show some of the characters in Final Fantasy XIV some love. As it just so happens, GPOSERS had kicked off the month with a post on Bluesky that links to a FFXIV character Tiermaker. And thus, after recording for three or so hours… and many… many more hours of editing after the fact, we now present to you The Official Carbuncle Chronicle Character Rankings: From ARR to Endwalker. But also, we talk a little bit about what we are excited for in the upcoming patch of 7.2: Seekers of Eternity.Spoiler Levels: Archon Loaf! Baked with either fish or vegetable flour, this fluffy loaf of rye bread is?from a nutritional standpoint?wholesome indeed. OK, so rather than fish or vegetable flour, this no-less fluffy loaf of a podcast is baked with love (and hate) for the many great (and terrible) NPCs that form the backbone of the MMORPG we all enjoy! So spoilers will, in fact, be aplenty.OSMnotesThank you to GPOSERS for the great idea prompt for the podcast topic! But without further ado, here's that final tier ranking image:But also, Time Cues! Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, and Thalen Hey Folks! For years we have had this tradition of recording a full spoiler show once all of the folks who are actively playing Final Fantasy XIV have completed the content. We knew this would be an epic undertaking given that we never got around to recording a post-Endwalker show. This is absolutely going to at a minimum be two shows… maybe three depending upon how well the next show goes. We used to record these epic five hour long shows that I edited down into chunks… but have thankfully since wised up to just splitting them between several weeks. This week we cover everything that happens after the Endwalker MSQ credit roll until just before the halfway point of Dawntrail. Be warned, this is a full spoiler discussion as we recount the tale and talk about various details in depth along the way. Topics Discussed: Post Endwalker Content Estinien is Bad with Money Once More to the Thirteenth An Unlikely Mentorship The Journey of the Dawnservant
MinnMax's Ben Hanson, Kelsey Lewin, Jacob Geller, and Haley MacLean kick things off by unpacking their thoughts on Capcom's Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and PlayStation's beta for Concord. Then Sarah Podzorski joins the crew to talk about the new expansion to her beloved Final Fantasy XIV and how Dawntrail stacks up to climactic content like Endwalker. Featuring: Ammosart, Belghast, Grace, Tamrielo, and Thalen Hey Folks! Last night we recorded a show in which we attempted to thread the most delicate needle. Ammo, Bel, Grace, and Thalen have all finished the Dawntrail MSQ and only really want to talk about that. Tam however has not even started it, nor has he finished any of the post-Endwalker content. So we play this game of minesweeper where we attempt to talk about our thoughts and feelings about Dawntrail… without actually revealing any meaningful information about the expansion. Bel and Grace also talk about their experiences restarting the game with fresh alts on Kraken a brand new server where everyone is a sprout. It's hopefully a fun show and one where we don't actually spoil anything. Though we are absolutely looking forward to our full spoiler show at some point in hopefully the near future. It's our last episode of horsing around in Endwalker as we eagerly await Dawntrail and count the days.
Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, Kodra, Tamrielo, and Thalen Hey Folks! Bel crash lands the introduction by completely managing to skip over Thalen. We have a pretty packed show as several things got bumped from the previous show. We start off the show with some discussion of Luck Be A Landlord, a game that was compared to Balatro. From there we talk a bit about Summer Games Fest, admittedly in a disjointed manner while also talking about the Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Media Tour Embargo lifting. Bel has now wrapped up the Post Endwalker content ans is significantly more excited for Dawntrail. Grace talks about the Alan Wake II DLC and her experiences so far with Number One Fan. Tam talks about Star Trek Resurgence. Collectively we talk about some One Shot TTRPG Ideas, and Kodra shares some thoughts about Dropout TV. Finally we talk a bit about Kodra's experiences with the Kitsune Tails Demo on Steam. Jesse Cox returns for the final grilling before the end of Endwalker. The test is stacked, the questions are hard and our memories are shit. Better than most? Maybe. Hello Adventurers! Welcome to the Year of Our Yoshi-p Twenty Twenty Four. It's going to be an exciting year, this 2024! Not only it's the Lunar Year of the Dragon, it's ALSO the year of the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion: Dawntrail! From the final CG teaser trailer, to Pictomancer, to hrothgals lion ladies, and even [REDACATED], if it was in the keynote, we are here to talk into microphones about them.Spoiler Levels: Hot! Maybe not Blazin' Knock Your Butt Off... But you'll probably will want to wrap up the latest stuff in Endwalker before you hit play.OSMnotesThanks to Tobias for continuing to pitch hit edit the podcast for Anna, it has been a life saver. We're kicking off the new year on Rhythm Encounter with a brand-new kind of episode: Building a soundtrack from pieces of other games. We distilled our imaginary RPG down to eight core musical moments — title, overworld, town, dungeon, battle, emotional, final boss, and ending, to be specific — and pulled a song for each from eight different RPGs. While we were all prepared to justify how eight disparate tracks made sense together, the resulting "soundtrack" was more cohesive than we expected! We hope you like this musical experiment, because we already have plans for a future sequel. Hello Adventurers! As the year of our Yoshi-p 2023 comes to an end, we thought it would be good idea to talk about the patch that we've all been playing as the year closes out: 6.5 Growing Light - Part 1. (And if you need yet more Mippa, and you assuredly do, we actually had an interview with her not too long ago.) We all know those big moments in RPGs. A place, a scene, or a pivotal battle that really makes the game and solidifies it in your memory. The scoring in those moments isn't always what makes it work, but it often plays a crucial role. In many cases, the music really does make the moment, if not the game. Today we are talking about songs that carry that burden of really defining the RPG they're in, making the whole experience better by just being there. We've been wanting to do this topic for over four years, and there's certainly more music that fits the bill than we had time for, but we are thrilled to talk about these eight songs. Be sure to get in touch with us and let us know some of your game-defining music!Featuring: Mike Salbato, Zach Wilkerson, Wes Iliff, Stephanie Sybydlo; Edited by Paul DennisTracklist0:05:54 - Transcending Love (HIMEKAMI) - Suikoden III0:08:59 - Dynamis (Masayoshi Soken) - Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker0:26:56 - Theme of Grandia (Noriyuki Iwadare) - Grandia0:31:32 - Arc the Lad Theme (Masahiro Andoh) - Arc the Lad0:48:09 - Star Ocean Forever - Jazz Ver. Featuring: Ammosart, Belghast, Grace, and Thalen Hey Folks! We are down essentially our entire Seattle contingency for assorted reasons that I don't believe are actually connected. So we carry forward with our Central and Eastern Timezone folks and talk a bit about BlizzCon and how there was a wildly different energy surrounding the event. It feels like a new chapter for Blizzard is opening that may or may not have anything to do with the Microsoft acquisition. From there we talk a bit about the Krangled event and how bizarre it is to play with a randomized passive tree. Bel talks about the situation at Bungie and the general sense of dire straights for the Destiny franchise. Bel also talks a bit about easing back into Final Fantasy XIV and catching up on the post-Endwalker content. He has also been playing New World a bit and going through the expansion content while leveling to 65 and farming some new gear. Finally, we drive off into a discussion about the books that we have been reading and float the idea of a “Books of the Year” show similar to our “Games of the Year” show we often do. Topics Discussed: BlizzCon 2023 Overwatch Diablo World of Warcraft Three Expansion Cycle The War Within Features A New Feeling Blizzard Path of Exile Krangled Event is Strange Like Bad Sealed Magic Bel League Discussion Kodra is Super Serious The Bungie Situation Easing back into FFXIV New World Expansion Book Talk

Hello Adventures! With the advent of Dawntrail (the new expansion) on the horizon, and the current post patch cycle winding down, we thought it would be a nice time to talk about one of the new things Endwalker (the current expansion) introduced into Final Fantasy XIV: The Variant and the Criterion Dungeons. These are brand new types of battle-style content that kind does their own thing, and they're pretty dang fun! And you can get cool stuff for doing them! But since they are optional things, maybe you haven't done them yet? If not, let us take this chance to talk to you about why we think you should. And if you have already tried them out uh, well… listen to us anyway! You're already here, why stop now. Spoiler Levels: Pretty Low! Ignoring that you kinda have to have cleared the main chunk of Endwalker just to get to the post-patches where these dungeons show up, we don't really delve too deep into any spoilers talking about them.OSMnotesHave you tried the new Variant dungeons? Did you dip a toe into Criterion to see if it's as hard (or as easy!?) as you thought it'd be? Were we the ones that finally convinced you to take the plunge, or were you already on board with the idea? Let us know in the Discord! Also:Tobias' other FFXIV podcast, the one that's also a One Piece podcast? A Grand Line Reborn? Yeah that one! State of the Realm #350 - State of Endwalker w/ Zepla by DREAM Network
This is it, the final minilog of the Kingdom Hearts era of Backlog Dialogues. Though looking at the file length, it's more of a megalog. In what could best be described as the weight of our sins and pinnacle of our hubris, we go deep in discussing Final Fantasy XIV for a second time, this time focusing on Shadowbringers and Endwalker, the two best stories in all of Final Fantasy. We dig in to the themes of anti-utopianism and hope that run deep through Natsuko Ishikawa's stories, and examine some of the most interesting characters and settings the Final Fantasy franchise has come up with, and even sort of answer the question - why did we do all this? What's the meaning to our struggle in creating a podcast? We do it for their own sake, and no other reason. Is that not so, Adventurer?
It's the beginning of the end! Or rather the end of Endwalker which was the end of the beginning, which is ending after this beginning ends and it's ending begins. Archons Nadia Oxford and Victor Hunter take you through the most important information to come out of the recent Live Letter from the Tokyo Game Show floor to get you prepped for Patch 6.5 Growing Light. New mounts, more Zero, and snarky comments to landlords make this a must-listen episode for anyone looking forward to the final major patch of 2023!

Now that the last tier of Pandæmonium is out, it's time to talk about the End of Endwalker Endgame (EEE~!), how it and other endgame content compare to previous tiers, how Ultimates factor in, and much more!
Hello Adventurers! As the new year rolls on, so too does the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV Online patch cycle. In fact, we are in the midst of Patch 6.3 hyjinks right now! And not only did we get a new 24-person raid, a new dungeon with MSQ alongside, but we also got a bevy of great Quality-of-Life improvements as well. To help us walk through all this 6.3 Patch stuff is our special guest for this Issue: Alex Fraioli! When he's not dispensing sage life advice as the proprietor of the Critical * Hit bar used game store in Nagoya, Japan, you can also find him on Twitch or on the No More Whoppers podcast. But from Umbrellas to Ultimates, he's with us this episode to talk about all the things you love about the game we all play and are addicted to.Spoiler Levels:Incredibly high!... Sorta. The first hour or so is actually pretty light on them, as we cover mostly the Quality-of-Life improvements the patch brought, and gripes about the important things in Eorzean life: Dyes. But after that first hour? Buckle up cause it's spoiler city over here! (Sidenote: Ever notice that none of the mounts in FFXIV have seat belts? It's like an episode of Star Trek or something.)And if you are tuning in the week we are releasing this episode, all week-long Alex is also doing charity streams for TELL Japan! It's a great charity organization that dedicated to providing effective support and counseling services to Japan's international community and its increasing mental health needs. So if you are feeling at all generous, please head over to Alex's Twitch and donate today! (And if you are tuning in later, we wouldn't be surprised if Alex isn't planning on another charity stream in the future. Or just go to the TELL Japan site and donate anyway!)And as always, feel free to leave us a review on Apple Podcasts! Season 2 - Episode 1/10 Christina Rose is a video game and manga translator who enjoys demystifying the J-E media translation industry and its practices for people new to the field or looking to break in. Final Fantasy XIV is a sci-fi/fantasy MMORPG that has been running in some form or other since 2012, making it nearly ten years old! The most recently released expansion at the time of this podcast is Endwalker, and the expansion right before that is Shadowbringers. Christina discusses the Shadowbringers content, with only minor spoilers. "Warriors of Light, embrace the darkness and forge a new fate! Ala Mhigo is at last free from imperial rule, but that liberty may prove fleeting as the Empire moves to both reclaim this bloodied nation and subjugate all of Eorzea. In their hour of need, however, they cannot turn to the Warrior of Light. Nor to the Scions, who yet slumber, their souls adrift. The realm is left to struggle without its saviors, for they have been beckoned beyond time and space─beckoned to the First."
