 Michael Jordan has agreed to sell the majority stake of the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall. Jordan, who has owned the Hornets since 2010, will retain a minority stake in the team. The deal leaves the NBA without any Black majority owners. He was in first class, Gio was not. The woman next to him kept waking him up to go to the bathroom. Kodai Senga had more problems pitching on regular rest and that's going to be an issue this season. The Mets hit 4 solo HRs in their loss yesterday, but they did nothing offensively on Friday or Saturday. Francisco Lindor has been terrible and said he understands the fans booing him. Mets fans were pumped last week thinking the Mets were back and then they got swept at home. C-Lo is in for Jerry and starts with the Yankees beating the Dodgers 4-1. Anthony Volpe had a HR. Aaron Judge injured his toe making an incredible catch on Saturday. He is getting a toe x-ray. Nestor Cortes is likely headed to the IL with a shoulder injury. Giancarlo Stanton and Josh Donaldson returned and hit a few HRs. Tommy Pham hit 2 HRs but it wasn't enough as the Mets lost and were swept by the Blue Jays. The Heat beat the Nuggets to even the series at 1-1. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about a guy named Gabe Plotkin being a minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets and now they want to take over the whole thing and Michael Jordan is involved. The fan sites call Plotkin a ‘financial terrorist'. We also took calls from Mets fans about Francisco Lindor being terrible. In the final segment of the hour, there are no local baseball games tonight and no NBA Finals game. So it's just the Stanley Cup Finals. A caller brought up the Padres and Shohei Ohtani and the problems they're having with their regional sports network and how it can affect payroll.  Hour 3: 24 years ago today was Larry Johnson's 4 point play. Gio thinks as a Knicks nation, we should be rooting for the Heat because they are like the 90's Knicks. That's what Gio is doing. We broke down how the Heat were able to beat the Nuggets despite 41 from Nikola Jokic. Boomer is impressed by Erik Spoelstra. Matt Martin took Winnie to a Mets game this weekend. He said he had a great time but Gio doesn't believe that. C-Lo returns for an update and Gio wonders what it was like when C-Lo was out in Vegas with Fliegelman and JJ. Nestor Cortes is likely headed to the IL with a shoulder injury. Kodai Senga was not good at all on regular rest. Keith Hernandez talked about being erect when you make contact as a hitter. Things are not going well for Jordan Montgomery in St. Louis. He said, ‘I am not a loser'. The Heat beat the Nuggets in game 2, despite Nikola Jokic scoring 41. Jim Nantz talked about ‘stroking' Tony Romo. They are talking about golf. In the final segment of the hour, there are some Mac Jones quotes coming out of New England that confirm his douche tendencies. Boomer likes the Saints this year based on their schedule and defense. They are in a bad offensive division with a good defense.  Hour 4: The Mets got swept this weekend and Francisco Lindor is in a huge slump. They only combined for 1 run in the first two games of the series. Daniel Vogelbach has also been terrible. Boomer said ownership has to do something to make these players feel uncomfortable. Gio said they have been bringing up young guys from the minors. We took a bunch of calls from angry Mets fans, in particular about Lindor's contract. Report: Michael Jordan preparing to sell majority stake of Charlotte Hornets. Michael Jordan is preparing to sell the Charlotte Hornets. Jordan is engaged in serious talks to sell a controlling portion of the franchise to an ownership group led by current minority owner Gabe Plotkin and Atlanta Hawks minority owner Rick Schnall, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Specifics of that deal are not yet known, though a sale is not imminent. Jordan is expected to keep a minority stake in the team, but Plotkin and Schnall would become co-governors. Jordan first became a minority owner in the franchise in 2006, shortly after his Hall of Fame playing career ended. He then purchased the then-Bobcats in 2010 for $275 million. It turns out that Michael Jordan has a very direct connection to the massive financial losses incurred to hedge fund Melvin Capital as a result of the "Reddit Rebellion." When Reddit investors took to their Robinhood apps to engage in a "short squeeze" against fund manager Melvin Capital, this caused significant financial damage to Gabe Plotkin, owner of Melvin Capital, who also happens to have just become a major business partner of Jordan's, buying a massive stake in the Charlotte Hornets. While Michael Jordan's net worth remains high, the financially damage to a major business partner undermines his ability to sell more of the Hornets to Plotkin and also adds to the $300 million in losses he incurred after a pandemic-crippled NBA season.
