Youtube FacebookSpotifyBioImSoTyRell is making noise with “Big Plays”, a high-energy, emotionally grounded hip-hop track that fuses hard-hitting beats with rich melodies and a powerful backstory. Drawing on his personal experiences, the track tells the story of a New York native from Queens who relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, determined to break cycles and choose a different path from the one laid before him.The track opens with a striking image: a six-year-old TyRell watching his mother cut drugs on a dinner plate. Rather than glamorize this upbringing, “Big Plays” tells a story of resilience, personal choice, and ambition.“This song is based on my life,” he says. “I saw where the drug life could lead — I lived in it — but I made a decision to do something different. This is me taking big swings. Big plays.”While the song references his past, it also defines his present: an artist committed to authenticity. His name, ImSoTyRell, isn't just a moniker — it's a mantra.“Throughout my journey, people would say, ‘You should sound more like this or that.' But I wanted people to know: I'm always going to be myself. I'm so me. I'm ImSoTyRell.”Rooted in Queens, Grounded in CharlotteTyRell's musical roots span coasts and cultures. Raised in Queens, he was inspired by local legends like 50 Cent — whose pre-fame days he remembers from childhood — and stylistic innovators like Missy Elliott, whose influence shaped the R&B-infused complexity of his sound. He moved to Charlotte during his senior year of high school and has since made the city his creative home, performing at major venues like the Spectrum Center, Raleigh showcases, and curated open mic events.“I perform where I know I can make a moment,” he says. “It's not about clout — it's about connection.”Art Beyond the MusicImSoTyRell is also a storyteller beyond the studio. He's currently producing an original YouTube series titled “Make Some Noise,” which he wrote, scored, and stars in. The project blends scripted fiction with music, allowing TyRell to further explore his storytelling talents and give voice to real-life issues through a creative lens.“I don't want to be put in one box. I like to create music that takes you on a journey — and leaves you with something meaningful,” he says. “Too much music today feels like a run-on sentence. I want my art to make you think, feel, and reflect.”Service and Self-InvestmentTyRell's commitment to excellence led him to temporarily step away from music in order to stabilize his finances — and return on his own terms. As a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, he proudly serves while investing in the quality of his work.“If I'm going to do this, it has to be top-tier. I won't release something I'm not proud of.”With a strong creative team, The Fly Family (@theflyfamily), TyRell now has the support and production quality to match his vision. What's Next: “Funds Up” and MoreFollowing “Big Plays”, TyRell is set to drop his next single, “Funds Up” featuring Kash Kyla, and release Episode 2 of “Make Some Noise”, planned as an eight-part series.Still, “Big Plays” stands as his mission statement — a call to action for anyone aiming to break generational cycles, dream bigger, and bet on themselves.“It's a triumphant sound. It's about stepping out, making major moves, and feeling good about it,” he says. “It could be a sports anthem or a track for a kid hooping in the park — whatever the context, it's about showing up for yourself in a big way.”And for ImSoTyRell, this is just the beginning.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

The Duke Blue Devils advance in the ACC Tournament after a win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but Cooper Flagg and Maliq Brown picked up injuries that could keep both out for differing lengths of time. We discuss it on Episode 704. Jason is in Charlotte for the ACC Tournament and gives his take from his vantage point on press row at the Spectrum Center. He and Donald discuss all that happened in this game, from the vibes in the arena to Cooper Flagg injuring his ankle just minutes after Maliq Brown injured his shoulder again. Still, this team was resilient in storming back to take the lead and keep Georgia Tech at arm's length the rest of the way. There was some good in this game but also some things to improve as the team moves onto the ACC Tournament semifinals. Standing in their way: UNC, who beat Wake Forest to set up a third battle between the two rivals and the second matchup in 6 days. Jason and Donald forego the normal preview to discuss some of the things to watch as Duke adjusts to having Flagg and Brown unavailable. We end with a tribute to John Feinstein, who passed away suddenly on Thursday. Make sure you're following us! No. 21 Duke vs No. 10 Baylor: Game played at MSG, so home game for Duke? What I like: their ball movement, and they’re doing a lot of it without Tyrese Proctor, who’s been out since the loss to GA Tech - he just started getting back to practice about a week ago, but who knows when he’ll return from an ankle injury - but their ability to move the ball offensively to generate open shots is impressive Something to keep an eye on: Low post defense - Christian Reeves has been out, and Ryan Young hasn’t been getting a lot of minutes off the bench, so it’s been Filipowski as the post defender along with Mark Mitchell - how long is that sustainable? NC State vs St. Louis: game at PNC, so home game for NC State? What I like: guard depth - DJ Horne, Jayden Taylor, Casey Morsell, Dennis Parker Jr., Michael O’Connell, throw MJ Rice & Kam Woods into the mix - there are a lot of guys to work into the mix in the back court for Kevin Keatts, which allows them to play with a lot of speed & pressure throughout the court Something to keep an eye on: Can they get more from the low post? DJ Burns averaging over 13 pts/game, and actually leads the team in assists with 28 overall this year, but Mo Diarra has been a little banged up and is a rim protector and rebounder, and Ben Middlebrooks hasn’t provided as much as expected No. 11 UNC vs No. 7 Oklahoma: Game played at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, so home game for UNC? Third straight game vs. a ranked opponent on a neutral floor for Carolina What I like: RJ Davis, Harrison Ingram, Bacot - those three for the most part this season have been getting the job done; has there been a hiccup (Bacot vs Kentucky) - sure; but those three overall have been providing scoring night in and night out … RJ Davis is at the top, or near the top, of the ACC in scoring at 21.6/game, Ingram is shooting over 43% from three while also third on the team in assists, third in pts/game, and 2nd in rebounds, and Bacot is double-double player just about every night Something to keep an eye on: secondary scoring - Cormac Ryan was in an slump, but had 20 points against Kentucky; Elliot Cadeu leads the team in assists as a freshman with 40 this year, but still waiting for him to have that big scoring output … this team will need secondary scoring

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke news that we've been expecting all summer. Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan is finalizing talks to sell a majority stake in the NBA franchise to a group led by current Hornets minority owner Gabe Plotkin and Atlanta Hawks minority owner Rick Schnall. It is unclear how much of the franchise Jordan will sell, but he is expected to retain a minority stake. The Hornets are in the midst of one of the most important offseasons in team history including the 2nd overall pick in the NBA Draft. What effect will the sale have on those decisions? The potential sale has raised concerns about whether the team would relocate from Charlotte. Although new owners may not have strong ties to the city and the team may not be selling out every night, moving the franchise would be expensive and complicated. Additionally, the Hornets have a lease at the Spectrum Center until 2045, and any new contract would include $215 million in renovations. If a sale does occur, it could lead to changes in the front office and coaching staff, but the timeline for a deal is uncertain.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
