Lynda Tait Randle, as Bill Gaither has fondly introduced her for over a decade, was born in the inner city of Washington, D.C. She is the middle child of seven and feels blessed to have had the privilege of being raised in a Christian home. Despite being led to the Lord at the young age of 12, it would be years later before she really experienced the freedom from bondage that only God could give. Music became a way out of pain and heartache for Lynda and as a result of this God-given gift, many doors of opportunity have opened up for her.Lynda's distinct alto voice has created opportunities for her to minister across the United States and around the world. Her gift has allowed her to share the stage with musical and spiritual legends such as Andre Crouch and Billy Graham, and she has been a cherished favorite on the Gaither Homecoming videos and tour since 1993.

Wesley Adam Hampton was born December 8, 1977, in Memphis, Tennessee. While he was a college student at Trevecca in Nashville, Wes invited Andrea Means to attend a Gaither Homecoming concert for their first official date. After two years at Trevecca, Wes and Andrea were married and moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to complete their education. Wes graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama, then worked as a minister of worship for The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham for two years before getting a phone call from Bill Gaither that would change his life nearly overnight. Wes joined the Vocal Band in July 2005 as the group's tenor. His transition into the Vocal Band was virtually seamless, since he already knew the parts to nearly every song in the GVB's repertoire. And since that time, Wes has done far more than sing a part. He has joined the ranks of an exclusive handful of world class singers who have sung tenor for the Gaither Vocal Band over the years. It's great to have Jeff Pearles return for a second time on this podcast! Jeff has had a stellar career in Gospel Music singing bass for the King's Heralds, appearing on many Gaither Homecoming videos, as well as a studio singer and voice-over talent for audio books and events. But all of that could have come to a screeching halt with his diagnosis of Covid-19 and double pneumonia. The truth is, Jeff almost died, and Linda (his wife) both battled a severe bought of serious lung problems as a result of Covid-19. When someone contracts COVID, the lungs get small and stiff, which explains why many experience shortness of breath and massive fatigue. His oxygen levels plummeted, while his heart rate tripled. The doctor gave very little hope to Jeff as he lay for three days in a hospital bed. However, Jeff began to pray that God would send someone to him that would show him hope. And literally, within hours, "hope" AND a miracle walked into that room. This is a very personal testimony of God's unfailing intervention for a man who has dedicated his life to music and ministry. Jeff has started to share his healing story more openly and often in his public performances with many positive responses. This is his first podcast interview with Sue Duffield, telling this amazing story of recovery. www.sueduffield.com www.khqofficial.org

I am also passionate about spreading the gospel of Christ. Creatively using media to advance the gospel makes my heart skip a beat for sure! I have been blessed with people in our industry that share this same passion. Occasionally in the magazine, I will share our conversations and highlight other ministries that are BROADCASTING the good news of Jesus in song. This month I'm shining the spotlight on Ken and Jean Grady of Gospel Music Today. Rob: “Tell our readers how you got involved with Southern Gospel Music.” Ken: “Neither one of us grew up with southern gospel music. Jean's father was a Southern Baptist preacher in Oklahoma, so the family was aware of southern gospel music, but not really involved with it. I grew up in New England, and didn't even know that southern gospel existed. We started watching The Statler Brothers on Saturday nights. That led us to the Gaither Homecoming programs, and before long our church choir, which Jean directed, was singing southern gospel, and we were inviting southern gospel quartets and groups to sing at our church in Rhode Island.”

The group became a quartet with the addition of Blue Ridge Quartet bass singer George Younce in 1964. They decided to become a full-time touring group in 1969, leaving the Cathedral of Tomorrow. The group signed with Canaan Records; Canaan producer Marvin Norcross worked with them and Florida Boys lead singer Les Beasley to help the group gain exposure. Norcross gave them performance time on the nationally-syndicated television Gospel Singing Jubilee. With Canaan, the group experimented with different styles of dress and performance to find their identity.Rise to prominenceGospel singer Bill Gaither invited the group to perform at his annual Praise Gathering in Indianapolis, and they received more requests for appearances.Gaither collaborated with Younce and Payne to produce their future albums for Word Records. The group began incorporating Younce and Payne's comedy routines, and added Roy Tremble as a tenor.Kirk Talley of the Hoppers, was a tenor; Steve Lee was added to sing baritone and play piano. Shortly before 1980, the group hired Roger Bennett as their pianist after hearing him play for their opening act. Lee left the group, and former member Roger Horne filled in briefly before bass guitarist and Kingsmen baritone Mark Trammell joined the group. They left Canaan (Word), and signed with Riversong (Benson).1980sKirk Talley left the group in the fall of 1983 to form the Talleys with his brother, Roger, and sister-in-law, Debra. Danny Funderburk of the Singing Americans was chosen to replace him in December of that year. This lineup remained in place for several years, until Roger Bennett left to help found Journey Records. Bennett was replaced by young, classically-trained pianist and vocalist Gerald Wolfe. With Wolfe at the piano and singing, the group contributed to Symphony of Praise a 1987 album with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The album included "This Ole House", "Champion Of Love", "I Can See The Hand" (written by Steven Curtis Chapman), and "I've Just Started Living". During this period, the group added Trammell's bass guitar and a synthesizer to its quartet vocals.1990s: Gaither Homecoming yearsIn February 1990, Funderburk left to help form the quartet Perfect Heart. The Cathedrals hired tenor Kurt Young to replace him, but Young left the quartet after two months. Young was replaced by Ernie Haase, a young tenor from Indiana. Later that year, Trammell left to form Greater Vision with Gerald Wolfe. Scott Fowler, former lead singer of the Sound, became the quartet's baritone and bass guitarist; this was the final version of the Cathedrals. The full group (including present and former members) recorded a concert, The Cathedral Quartet: A Reunion, in 1995.Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band recorded Homecoming, a tribute to Southern gospel music, during the early 1990s. Gaither enlisted George Younce and Glen Payne for the album (which inspired the Gaither Homecoming videos), and the Cathedral Quartet was included on later videos in the series. In addition to touring and appearing in the Gaither Homecoming videos, the group appeared three times on NBC's Today show during the decade.Final years and farewell tourYounce and Payne's health began to decline; Younce had kidney failure and heart disease by 1999, and Payne was diagnosed with liver cancer. They decided to disband the group after a farewell tour, as the group's health permitted. The Gaithers and the Cathedrals recorded a live Cathedrals Farewell Celebration video on May 18, 1999, on which they were joined by the Statler Brothers, the Oak Ridge Boys, Sandi Patty, Guy Penrod, and the Gaither Vocal Band. On October 15, 1999, Glen Payne died. After the groupIn 2000, former Cathedrals Scott Fowler and Roger Bennett formed the Southern gospel group Legacy Five; Fowler was the lead singer and bass guitarist, and Bennett was the group's emcee and pianist. Haase continued a solo career he had begun and, with Gaither's help, formed The Old Friends Quartet with Younce, Jake Hess, Wesley Pritchard, and Gold City alumnus Garry Jones on piano. They recorded two albums and a concert video for the Gaither Homecoming series, but Younce and Hess's poor health brought an end to the Old Friends two years later. In 2003, Haase and Garry Jones formed the Signature Sound Quartet. After Jones and Haase developed artistic differences, Jones left. The Signature Sound became associated with Gaither and his Homecoming tour, and changed its name to Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. After leaving the Cathedrals, Mark Trammell was the original baritone of Greater Vision before leaving to join Gold City. In 2002, Trammell formed his own quartet called Mark Trammell Quartet. Gerald Wolfe sings lead with Greater Vision and Danny Funderburk has recorded solo and has been in several groups since leaving Perfect Heart. Kirk Talley had a solo career from the Talleys breakup to December 2012, when he developed vocal problems. On April 11, 2005, George Younce died.[7] On March 17, 2007, Roger Bennett died.[8] Ernie Haase & Signature Sound released A Tribute to the Cathedral Quartet in 2010, a nominee for Southern Gospel Album of the Year at the 42nd GMA Dove Awards.[9]Playlist:Artists |Song Title | Album01. On this week’s SGNP Arthur and Darien Talk with Kelly Nelon Clark and her husband Jason Clark about there great new project life and fun, Also Arthur And Darien talk about the SGMA and there pending move. Also, find out about the NQC and the hall of fame induction ceremonies.     Grammy® Award-nominated, Dove Award-winning Gospel music family group The Nelons return October 2 with Peace At Last, their first new studio recording in two years. Comprised of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, Amber Nelon Kistler and Autumn Nelon Clark, the Gospel Music Hall of Famers' forthcoming 13-song collection also marks their new long-term partnership with Daywind Records.   Produced by Jason Clark and Dove Award-winner Wayne Haun, Peace At Last features nine songs co-penned by Clark and six by Haun, along with contributions from acclaimed writers Tony Wood, Joel Lindsey, Kenna West, Michael Boggs, and Reba Rambo and Dony McGuire, among others. The recording reflects the group’s influences across Gospel, country and Americana genres, while featuring the signature vocals and family harmonies that have been their trademark for more than three decades.   Highlights of Peace At Last include the new single and video, “Jordan,” an infectious barnburner featuring Autumn Nelon Clark on lead. Amber Nelon Kistler’s country-tinged vocals deliver the gentle ballads “Grace Ain’t Fair” and “If God Pulled Back The Curtain,” while Kelly Nelon Clark’s soothing alto is instantly recognizable on the anthemic title-cut, as well as the folksy “Patience of Job.” The cinematic “Still Free,” drawing from the biblical accounts of Daniel in the lion’s den, and Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego in the furnace, exhorts believers to walk in freedom and confidence. And bringing the collection full circle, “Pilgrim” reflects the group’s lauded southern gospel heritage.   “We believe God knew these songs, these stories, the Truth they tell and the Hope they give, would need to be heard at such a time as this,” said Kelly Nelon Clark. “When I see tears of lonely people, I remember ‘Two Are Better Than One.’ When the news is filled with stories of hate and division, I relisten to ‘Wish We All Could Remember.’ And when I’m gripped with fear and doubt, I imagine ‘If God Pulled Back The Curtain’ to my heavenly home. We can know peace¬—Peace At Last—because we know Him. I don’t believe we have ever recorded a more important or timely collection of songs.”   “When Tony Wood and I began to write ‘Peace At Last,’ we had no idea what 2020 would hold,” remembers Jason Clark. “For me personally, the year has included months of recuperation from both heart surgery and emergency knee surgery. Not to mention the pandemic and all the other challenges our country and world have had to face. We want these songs to remind listeners—and ourselves—that although times may be a little different, a little harder, we are going to make it! God hasn’t forgotten us, and He will never let us walk in the valley alone. ‘There’s a better day—a’ coming children—there will be peace at last.’”   “All of us at Daywind Records are absolutely thrilled to stand in partnership with our friends The Nelons as we enter into a new long-term agreement,” said Dusty Wells, Director of Artist and Label Relations, Daywind Records. “Kelly, Jason, Amber and Autumn have been treasured members of our Daywind family for years. We believe in The Nelons: their music, their ministry, what they are called to do, and all they represent. We also believe that Peace At Last is a career album for them, and will be a favorite for many years to come. This is just the beginning of wonderful new opportunities for The Nelons and Daywind Records.”   Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2016, The Nelons have been one of Gospel music’s best-loved families for nearly four decades. The group has been nominated for three Grammy® Awards; received seven Dove Awards, 14 Singing News Fan Awards, a Silver Angel Award, a People’s Choice Silver Telly Award, and a New York Film Festival Award. The Nelons have recorded more than 35 albums, amassing over 20 Top 5 southern gospel radio singles, including such classics as “We Shall Wear A Robe and Crown,” “Come Morning,” “O For A Thousand Tongues” and “Thanks.” They have frequently been featured on the best-selling Gaither Homecoming recordings and videos, and have performed on the Grand Ole Opry, among other historic venues.   The Nelons continue the rich tradition initiated by family patriarch Rex Nelon, father of Kelly Nelon Clark, who began his legendary career when he joined Gospel Music Hall of Fame members The LeFevres in 1957. The group eventually became known as The Rex Nelon Singers before changing their name to The Nelons in 1982. Through the decades, The Nelons’ polished harmonies and performances, and their anthology of timeless songs, have helped to expand the audience for Gospel music around the world.   For further information visit turningpointpr.com or daywindrecords.com. Rockland Road is many things. It's a street near Nashville. It's a studio where countless hit records have been recorded. It is a crossroads where country, gospel, pop, R&B and Americana music has thrived for years. It is a self-contained vocal-driven melodic band with a heritage as rich and authentic as its namesake. Six members, all sharing the last name Martin; representing four generations of musical heritage; all vocalists who play twenty-three instruments between them. Rockland Road is a powerhouse of soulful vocals blended with a pure, exuberant joy worthy of the literal and figurative blood that flows through their veins making them a family. Fueled by a mutual passion for many genres and longing for a fun, family-friendly musical experience for their kids, Paul and Jamie Martin began singing together in 2010 with their four children: March, Kell, Texas, and Tallant. Quickly realizing that the kids all showed an uncanny knack for hearing harmonies, as well as for playing instruments, they began performing shows together. So where did it all begin? Grammy-winning artist Paul Martin, lead singer/guitarist of country-pop supergroup Exile, met and married Jamie Allen, daughter of Duane Allen of Country Music Hall of Fame members The Oak Ridge Boys. Individually and collectively, they were exposed early to a rich musical existence, and Paul and Jamie watched as each child demonstrated God-given musical talents early on. Regional performances began to boom, leading to appearances on national television shows like “The Huckabee Show,” The Oak Ridge Boys' American Legion Christmas special, “The Marty Stuart Show,” “Country's Family Reunion,” “Gaither Homecoming,” and “Larry's Country Diner.” They've taken their stage show to venues as varied as the U.S. Library of Congress, the Country Music Cruise, the Grand Ole Opry, the White House, and countless fairs, festivals and performing arts centers across the country. Additionally, they've performed the National Anthem for many major NBA, MLB, and NCAA sporting events, including the NBA's Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and Cleveland Cavaliers. After a rousing performance of “Elvira” to a packed house for The Oak Ridge Boys' 2015 induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Billboard Magazine heralded them as “singing to the rafters,” getting a crowd of seasoned performers and music industry folks to their feet. “When I look back, it’s been very, very clear to me that God has been an ever-present help in time of need,” says internationally acclaimed independent singer-songwriter, Solveig Leithaug. A witness to God’s provision as a single mother of three while struggling to fulfill her call to Christian music, she admits she is one of those artists for whom “the songs just never stopped coming.”   Solveig’s long career has touched the world through her pristine vocals and masterful guitar skills, appearing in 20 countries, winning a Dove Award, continuing to record, and appearing on Gaither Homecoming videos. As one of Norway’s top recording artists (now based in the US), Solveig offers a purity of heart and voice that is rare in today’s music world.     Releasing her 19th recording “Riverside: Hymns and Spiritual Songs,” Solveig continues a legacy of Christian worship passed down from her musical parents. Originally begun as part of a Lenten Hymn Series she arranged each day for her Facebook fans, the project caught in her home church and soon many people were sharing out the beautiful hymn arrangements and requesting she record them.   Produced by Steve Hindalong (The Choir) and featuring powerful musicians like Stuart Duncan (mandolin/fiddle), Matt Slocum (Cello), Hannah Sorrells (violin), Odessa Settles (vocals), and Solveig’s daughter, Kari Julianna Leithaug (vocals), Riverside: Hymns & Spiritual Songs is another treasure to add to your collection of Solveig’s masterful work.   The Song Revolution Podcast is dedicated to helping you grow as a songwriter and worshiper, so to take it to the 'next level', we will now be releasing our podcast on Mondays. Our personality types can put us into an almost hypnotic trance, something I'd call the shadow. We relegate to the shadow those parts of ourselves we don't want to see. What the Enneagram does is it takes a flashlight and it goes into the shadow with you. It says, “Okay, we've got to look around.” It helps us embrace the journey inward. And no, it's not going to be comfortable. It is going to be painful because embracing pain isn't something we do well. It's something that we avoid well. But it's important to feel those things as they come up, not analyze them, not try and figure them out.  Actually just let them be what they are. Let the beautiful things be beautiful and let the painful things be what they are.  In today's episode, Brian Hardin talks about his journey through the lens of a Five.  He shares how using the Enneagram as a tool not only gives language to and expands our understanding of each other and of ourselves but also how it helps us pull back the curtain to shed the façade of our personality and find our true self.    Though best known for founding Daily Audio Bible, the revolutionary Scripture podcast, downloaded over 55 million times, Brian Hardin is truly a man of many hats. With his trademark soul patch of whiskers and wisps of hair framing his face, the Nashville creative rose to recognition throughout the Christian music industry producing for the legendary likes of Larry Norman to modern radio regulars like Jill Parr and Manic Drive, earning hundreds of album credits and a healthy collection of Grammy and Dove Award nominations. Along the way, he branched out into photography, landing everything from music industry publicity shots to portraits and corporate portfolios, alongside an eye for graphic design that found his work featured in Time, CCM, Christian Retailing and Gaither Homecoming (to name a mere handful). It was from within these extraordinary accomplishments that an unexpected professional blow set Hardin on a path toward restored faith, and eventually, vocational ministry.
