God Of Wonders, Soul On Fire, I Need A Miracle...do any of those phrases sound familiar to you? If they don't, let us give you a hint: they're all song titles. Third Day is one of those bands in the Christian world that defined the sound of a generation, and in today's episode, we have the pleasure of chatting with Third Day co-founder and lead singer, Mac Powell. He's also a husband and a father to five kids, and when we asked him for his biggest piece of parenting advice, he said, "Realize that you were made for this." We walk through topics like how to be present with your kids when life and business get in the way, what it's like to love your teenage kids even (especially?) when they think you're lame, and many more mines of wisdom Mac has to share. Just like Mac said, as parents, we're never gonna completely figure it out, but we can't let that stop us from trying to figure it out. Go see Mac on tour! On today's show, we chat with 2-time guest, Mac Powell! Award-winning artist and songwriter Mac Powell just released his new album, I Love Jesus! After a nearly three-decade career as the lead singer with the GRAMMY Award-winning band Third Day, Powell released his CCM solo debut in 2021, New Creation. This album produced the hit radio singles "New Creation" and "River of Life." When he began working on this new project, he wanted to return to basics. The album is filled with three and four-chord songs that remind the listener of what God has done in our lives and remind us of the love of Jesus and our love for him. Powell continues, "With I Love Jesus I wanted to return to the simplicity of what I do. The gospel is a simple truth and I wanted to share that in simple songs that remind us of what God has done in our lives and remind us of the love of Jesus. I believe this is some of my best work and songs and I can't wait to hear the stories of how these songs impact people's lives." macpowell.com @macpowell christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys

A prominent lyric from well-worn Christmas crooner Andy Williams reveals, “It's the most wonderful time of the year.” What he didn't mention is that it's also the busiest, most stressful, and expensive time we experience as the calendar year comes to a close. For all the baubles and beads designed to make our world just a little bit brighter, it is so easy to get lost in a shuffle of school Christmas concerts, your church's latest theatrical production, or family get-togethers. Mac Powell is all about keeping things simple during the Christmas season. So, much so that he has titled his latest holiday album simply, “Christmas”. Featuring five songs that will surely make your holiday playlists this year, the record also features three originals including a song the former Third Day lead singer wrote with his daughter and son-in-law called, “Christmas Time Again, My Friend”. Powell shares, “This project has some old songs on it that help you make new Christmas memories, and some new songs on it to remind you of some old Christmas memories.”Powell joins us on the Crossmap Podcast to talk about why he loves Christmas so much. Listen as he shares about why he chose to write and record a song with his daughter and son-in-law and how his heavy touring schedule actually influences his sound as a solo artist.Links to Crossmap Crossmap Website Crossmap Facebook

This Sunday we were all immersed in God's love, and some by water in baptism. Water is symbolic of our trusting in the “buoyancy of God” to hold our lives upward so God's life can be lived in us. Water is also sacramental; not just something we do but also something God does in and through the water. SLIDE GEORGE READ IN OUR GATHERING ABOUT BAPTISM: It certainly doesn't mean “Now you've got all your Christian understanding together, so we can baptize you.” In the New Testament, baptism often happens very early in somebody's life, like the Ethiopian eunuch who had been a believer for only five minutes before he was baptized by Philip. It takes a lifetime to figure out what your baptism means. —N.T. Wright *SONG: Baptized, Mac Powell & Matt Maher

Mac is best known as the frontman for the Christian rock band Third Day who released 13 albums in 21 years and received 4 Grammy Awards and 25 Dove Awards. He has been building his solo career over the past few years and is not shy to talk about starting over as a solo artist after being in a successful band for many years. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
The original creation had a purpose that was marred and derailed by sin. Scripture teaches in Christ, we are a new creation. Mac Powell sings of it in his song, "New Creation." It's the perfect song to launch into God's Word to learn all we can about what it means to be a new creation. Did you know there are only two places in the New Testament where the exact phrase "new creation" is used? I'm going to pick one and dive deep. Join me!
