Oh my god. This week, Emily and V discovered the existence of the single most galaxy-brain brilliant fanfiction of all time. No spoilers, but you WILL NOT predict ANY facet of this story. Also, we delve into the extremely long and impressive (and sometimes hilarious, because the '90s) history of Hanson fanfiction, AKA Hanfic. The Wayback Machine really earned its $2 donation this week, folks, because it turned up some pure gold. Sources Christmas Time on Fanlore Embers by ahestele Embers Fanart by Lily Fox 1998 1999 2003 USA Today Fannish Promotion Hurricane Helene devastated Asheville, North Carolina and other areas. It is the deadliest mainland hurricane since Hurricane Katrina, and an estimated $53 billion dollars will be needed for North Carolina to recover. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games home is in Appalachia; additionally, The Hunger Games movie was filmed in Asheville. To help support relief to those affected in the area, a fundraiser was created by those in the Fandom. This fundraiser entails a PDF zine of more than 30 plus pieces of fanart and fanfiction totaling over 330 pages of work. Those who donate to an approved charity toward relief from Hurricane Helene will receive this exclusive collection. A list of charities can be found on the fundraiser's tumblr, @fandomsunited4hr. Approved charities include Mountain Projects, Homeward Bound, Asheville Habitat, and more. Send an email to fuhrgames74@gmail.com with proof of donation and you'll receive over 30 exclusive fanworks from creators including V, @katnissdoesnotfollowback, @kald-dal-art and more. Bop bop doowop! This week, V and Emily travel back to a seminal moment in popslash and bubblegum history with the release of one of the most iconic songs of the '90s, "MMMBop" by Hanson -- and the subsequent world takeover by three blond boys from Tulsa and their legion of loyal fans. Despite, or perhaps because of, being a worldwide phenomenon, Hanson's fans suffered a fate similar to so many teen girl-heavy fandoms: being pathologized and maligned, not celebrated for their ingenuity and passion. So, which Hanson was your dreamy fave? And when you get old and start losing your hair, can you tell me who will still care? (No, you can't, 'cause you don't know. Oh-oh. Yeah, yeah.)

After her beau, Isaac Hanson, left the Yukon, she made a vow to wait for him. When she's sold to a brothel owner after the death of her father, Addie manages to escape with the hope that she can forever hide her past and the belief that she will never have the future she's always dreamed of.Years later, Addie has found peace in her new life as a photographer, training Camera Girls to operate and sell the Brownie camera. During the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo in Seattle, Addie is reunited with Isaac, but after the path her life has taken, she's afraid to expose the ugliness of her former life and to move toward the future they had pledged to each other. When her past catches up with her, Addie must decide whether to run or to stay and face her wounds in order to embrace her life, her future, and her hope in God.Get your copy of Remember Me by Tracie Peterson.More about Tracie.Tracie Peterson gave her life to Jesus at the age of six. A few months ago, Tracie Peterson was on the show, chatting about her Love on the Santa Fe series and she gave us a tiny glimpse of what was coming next. Well... next is here! Remember Me, the first book in the Pictures of the Heart series releases on March 7th, and it promises to be a wonderful book... and series! Listen in and see why I'm excited about this series! Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. The Words in This Book Will Inspire 1000 Pictures in Your Heart I've been waiting for Remember Me and the Pictures of the Heart series since last June when I first heard about it. I mean, come on! Camera girls going around taking photos and selling cameras at the Seattle World Exposition? YES PLEASE! Tracie Peterson gives us a glimpse of what it might have been like to see the Philipino village, the "new" technological advances (like a camera that sells for ten dollars and takes a full, postcard-sized photo!), and more. Add to that a young woman fleeing a terrible past and I don't know about you, but I'm eager to get started! Can you tell me who will still care … about MMMBop? We do! Twenty-five years after Hanson burst into pop music with their smash hit MMMBop, we're looking at the lyrics and nodding sagely at the brothers' precocious wisdom. We’re running out of time to interrogate our central thesis: that every song ever written is about Heroin, Buttsex, &/or Lord of the Rings. This week, the team get together to discuss what happened to that most incorrectly-named ‘Red Wall', why Northern communities switched to the conservatives in droves, and how we win them back in 2024. Joining the podcast are Young Fabians Milo Barnett, Isaac Hanson, Tom Platter and producer Carolina Saludes. We had two fantastic female colleagues due to join who had to cancel last minute, so please don't send us angry messages. The Guardian article discussed can be found here: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/feb/14/rising-tide-of-londoners-moving-to-northern-englaThis episode was recorded on Friday 28th February, during the Labour Leadership election Enjoy! I hadn't planned on this season circling in on two or three common features, but this season has included a number of Nashville acts, a number of discussions of A Charlie Brown Christmas, and two acts that made their marks on MTV in the 1990s. Two weeks ago, 12 Songs featured Matthew Nelson of Nelson, and this week I talk to Isaac Hanson of Hanson--three brothers who were introduced to the world as teenagers in 1997 with the release of "MMMBop" and the four-times platinum album it came from, Middle of Nowhere. Isaac has done enough interviews since then to know how to hit his marks, but he's also pretty candid about Hanson's place in the world in the late 1990s, and although releasing the Christmas album Snowed In as the follow-up to Middle of Nowhere was not the most intuitive choice, it helped the band do a few things that they thought were valuable. We talk about that and the challenge of interpreting Christmas songs on Snowed In and 2017's Finally It's Christmas, an album that also makes clear how hard-wired their pop sensibilities are. We also talk about rewriting Paul McCartney, which they did for their cover of "Wonderful Christmastime"--another song that got a lot of talk this season--and the thought processes behind it. Hanson recently started their first holiday music tour, which will continue until December 21 when they play The Paramount in Huntington, NY. If you're like me and in New Orleans, they'll play The Fillmore on December 10. Go to Hanson.net for tour dates and tickets. In other 12 Songs news, I recently said that I would post a Christmas playlist of my own. Here it is, 2 1/2 hours that I hope will find as much fun as I do. On December 10 at 10 p.m. Central, I will appear on WWOZ with my host and friend David Kunian to play and talk about Christmas music. If you're in New Orleans, you can check the show out that night; if you're out of town, it will be streaming live on WWOZ.org. And finally, for the rest of the Christmas season, we'll go to two shows a week, with the last one coming on Christmas Eve. If you haven't yet subscribed to 12 Songs, this is a good time to do so because the season ends strong. Go to Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher and Spotify and subscribe.
Isaac Hanson is a member of the band Hanson. Yes, Hanson. Yes, THAT Hanson. You can find him on Twitter @isaachanson. Isaac is one of three brothers who formed the band Hanson who shot to fame in the late 90s and have been a force of independent music and joy since then. It's no secret that I am a huge Hanson fan. There is something about their music that I just love. There is a purity and honesty, and a great sense of melody and hook. They just write fantastic pop music.I once saw Metallica six times in nine days when I was working on a Big Day Out tour. But there is only one band ever that I have bought tickets for, booked flights and hotels for and followed around on my own dime as they toured Australia, to catch as many shows as I could, and that band is Hanson.I'm so grateful to have this conversation because if you think Hanson are just those three blond kids with that song, then you're about to learn a lot more.I hope that you enjoy this conversation with Isaac Hanson. That’s Taylor Hanson, and if you live in Tulsa or if you’re a fan of eponymous band Hanson, he needs no introduction. The band is comprised of brothers Isaac (guitar, bass, piano, vocals), Taylor (keyboards, piano, guitar, drums, vocals), and Zac (drums, piano, guitar, vocals). They started the band in 1992 when they were 11, 9 and 6, and skyrocketed to fame with MMMBop in 1997. Now, 27 years after the band’s founding, they are still making music. Part of the reason these brothers are so beloved in their hometown is that despite their massive international following, they remain deeply rooted here in Tulsa, working to make the community stronger. Taylor Hanson started Food on the Move in 2014 inspired by the community-focused work of Edward Perkins, a former U.S. ambassador to South Africa. The mobile food project brings food trucks, fresh produce, cooking demonstrations, music, and health and social services to food deserts — economically strapped areas with limited access to nutritious food options. From a Tulsa Voice article that focuses on FOTM: “Food On The Move is visionary because it deals with the problem of food access in a way that both meets an immediate need and asks anyone who’s paying attention to re-think the way our community lives, works and eats.”This episode of Tulsa Talks is brought to you by the Tulsa Regional Chamber.Taylor Hanson knows a thing or two about success. And one thing he’s learned? What hits and what fades is often unpredictable, and your ability to be flexible — to be willing to reinvent — is crucial. So in case you’ve been living under a rock, the 6th annual Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival is this Saturday, May 19. The festival has grown immensely since it began in 2014, and has evolved alongside Hanson Day (which, by the way, is now several days) as a destination for Hanson fans to gather from all over the world here in Tulsa. Up next, Taylor shares what it was like to reinvent some old hits for Hanson’s newest album “String Theory.” But first, a special guest segment from the hosts of The Middle of Everything Podcast. Working moms Claire and Sarah are up next with their top tips for summer camp survival.
Taylor, Zac and Isaac Hanson join Louise Poole to chat about their String Theory tour and album; performing with orchestras; being on set on the soap Neighbours and fatherhood.

Yesterday Keira and I met up with Zac, Taylor and Isaac Hanson before their show in Vancouver. We learned about The Walk, what they’ve been up to in the 8 years they’ve been away from our city, and most of all that these grown men truly do have talent and a whole lot of heart.
