On this week's Film Sack Podcast, a decidedly odd couple with ulterior motives convince Dr. Grant to go to Isla Sorna for a holiday, but their unexpected landing startles the island's new inhabitants. I wonder if it will feature people running from wild dinosaurs. Oh, right. This has all the flying ones! It's a UNIX system! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We are off to two islands this week - one in the windy north of Japan to seek revenge in Ghost of Yōtei, and the other is Isla Sorna, y'know, the one with dinosaurs. Sword fights and massive prehistoric carnivores? What more could you want!? Show Notes: Music from the Ghost of Yōtei OST and Brad Sucks
The Lost World: Jurassic Park II!
Howdy, Void! We've returned to Jurassic Park to prove that people were indeed murdered the first time and will be again. Hammond suddenly becomes Sir David Attenborough after only 4 years and has established a nature preserve! Oh yay. . . he's finally "figured it out" (not). Our team travels to Las Cinco Muertes [Site B (The Five Deaths)]and no matter how many people tell them it's a bad idea, they go 'cause money. We have Eddie (the Hero), Nick (the hippie bad boy), Sarah (the worst big game specialist), Kelly (the only one with sense), and Ian (traumatized). We cackle at the dino descriptions from bad-guy Pete Postlethwaite: Elvis, Friar Tuck, THE POMPADORE!!!! Ultimately, we learn that when it comes to the carnivores of Isla Sorna, they know how to hold a GRUDGE!
It's time to go back to Isla Nublar, and... Wait, no. Isla Sorna, for... Wait, no, it's Ile Saint-Hubert. So... Naming conventions be darned. Anyway, there's dinosaurs and carnage and stuff In "Jurassic World Rebirth", and the public seems to love it... But should they? We're discussing the movie and more on this episode!Spoiler Free - 1:29Spoilers - 18:35News - 36:22

Join Greg Alba & Tara Erickson as they take flight back to Isla Sorna in Joe Johnston's 2001 sci-fi adventure Jurassic Park III. When divorced couple Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Peaky Blinders) accepts a mysterious aerial survey, they're lured into a rescue mission by Paul Kirby (William H. Macy, Fargo, Shameless) and his wife Amanda (Téa Leoni, Deep Impact, Madagascar), only to crash-land on the dino-infested island. Stranded without backup, they must survive against the cunning Spinosaurus—the film's signature apex predator—and evade deadly packs of Velociraptors. Along the way, they're joined by resourceful hunter Billy Brennan (Alessandro Nivola, Face/Off, American Hustle) and reunited with Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern, Jurassic Park, Big Little Lies), whose quick thinking saves the group from collapsing cliffs and the iconic raptor-in-the-aviary ambush. Don't miss the nail-biting river raft sequence where the Spinosaurus attacks from below, and the lore-expanding finale as Grant and Kirby use a decoy T. rex to outwit their monstrous pursuer. Join Greg Alba & Tara Erickson as they return to Isla Sorna in Steven Spielberg's thrilling 1997 sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park. When a massive T. rex is discovered roaming the Isla Nublar ruins, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough, Gandhi, Miracle on 34th Street) dispatches a team to document the surviving dinosaurs. Chaos theorist Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum, The Fly, Independence Day)—still haunted by the first park's disaster—leads the expedition alongside wildlife biologist Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore, Boogie Nights, Still Alice). Rounding out the group are wildlife photographer Nick Van Owen (Vince Vaughn, Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball) and paleontologist Dr. Richard Levine (Peter Stormare, Fargo, Prison Break), who clash over preserving versus exploiting the island's prehistoric inhabitants. Back in San Diego, Hammond's grandson Tim Murphy (Camilla Belle, 10,000 BC) and his friend Alicia “Kelly” Curtis (Vanessa Lee Chester, Soul Food) unwittingly become pawns in an illicit dino-smuggling scheme orchestrated by mercenary Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite, Inception, Romeo + Juliet)—whose bounty on a live T. rex sets off a chain of high-stakes confrontations. Highlights include the jaw-dropping T. rex cliff rescue, the heart-stopping San Diego freeway rampage by rampaging brachiosaurs, and the tense jungle standoff with a pack of velociraptors. Don't miss our breakdown of every dinosaur roar, breathtaking set piece, and the emotional reunion between Malcolm and Hammond that underscores Spielberg's signature blend of awe and suspense. The tall grass of Isla Sorna whispers in the afternoon breeze, creating a hypnotic pattern of movement across the vast field before you. You've strayed from the tour path, drawn by the beauty of the untamed landscape. A distant memory of Dr. Alan Grant's stern warnings about raptors and tall grass flickers in the back of your mind, but you dismiss it. After all, the island's security systems and containment procedures have been significantly upgraded since the original incidents.A sound catches your attention – a chirp-like call, almost birdlike in its musicality. You freeze, scanning the grass around you. Nothing. Just the wind and the endless sea of green. The sound comes again, this time from a different direction. And then another from somewhere else entirely. The realization hits you with cold clarity: you're being hunted.Suddenly, the grass parts twenty feet ahead of you, revealing the sleek, muscular form of a Velociraptor. Standing about six feet tall, its skin is a mottled pattern of browns and greens, with distinctive blue stripes running down its sides. The creature's head tilts as its amber eyes lock onto yours with chilling intelligence. You've seen them before, of course – safely behind glass in the park's exhibits. But here, with nothing between you and those curved, six-inch killing claws, the raptor is a different creature entirely.Unlock an ad-free podcast experience with Caloroga Shark Media! Welcome to Jurassic Park…3. We're going back to Isla Sorna, site B, the same place from the last movie and previous episodes, where the dinos were made and then eventually shipped to Isla Nublar from the 1st movie. But this time there are no fences, there is no protection and now we're on a rescue mission. Someone has been stranded and lost on the island and their only hope is that Dr Alan Grant can hopefully guide and rescue them from the horrors of the island. But luckily for you, you have me as YOUR guide through this, and hopefully we both make it out alive…on a completely separate note, this is probably my least favourite movie in the franchise….I take that back. It IS my least favourite movie in the franchise…however I think my hatred for this movie makes this episode even funnier. So sit back, relax and let's just hope we survive this time on the island

Sit back and relax as this episode is a reading of the Jurassic Park 3 draft, dated April 12, 2000. Written by Peter Buchman, this isn't the earliest script for the film, but this 50 page draft is extremely interesting. Lots of changes, including an ending that is significantly bigger than what we received in the final film. Yet, there are plenty of similar scenes and characters that were reworked into others. Jurassic Park III starts off with a man and a young boy that go paragliding only to have a forced crash landing on the island of Isla Sorna, the infamous second Jurassic Park island. The boy's parents, played by William H. Macy and Tea Leoni, travel to the island in hopes of rescuing their son, dragging along Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill, from the first film), who is none too happy about being thrown among the ruthless predators again. Golly gee, you don't think their plane might crash causing them to have to deal with dino-angst for 90 minutes, do you? Joe Johnston directs.

After months of a "planned" hiatus, "the boys" finally take their podcast to a numerical trifecta, and enter The Hundreds. The arrival of episode 100 brings along with it: none of what we promised - and a whole lot of nothing. But that nothing... consists of a heartfelt and sometimes heartwarming conversation between three ̶f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ acquaintances, who all share a love and appreciation of Jurassic Park 3. Arguably the greatest sequel in the franchise, Jurassic Park 3 released on July 18, 2001 and features the character of Dr. Alan Grant, who is now a happy man with the previous incidents of Jurassic Park now behind him. Grant is that happy that he announce in public, that nothing on Earth can persuade him back onto the islands. Maybe nothing, except Paul Kirby. Kirby and his wife, Amanda want a plane to fly them over Isla Sorna, with Dr. Grant as their guide. But not everything Kirby says is true. When the plane lands, Dr. Grant realizes that there is another reason why they are there, that he doesn't know of. Now, Dr. Grant is stuck on an island he has never been on before, with what was a plane journey now turned into a search party.
