This might actually be the busiest (and most unhinged) show in Big Rich, TD and Fletch history. We kick things off with a true legend as 7-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and San Diego's own Jimmie Johnson joins the show—stories, racing insight, and everything in between. Then it's time for the 2nd Annual Dad Games, where pride, questionable athleticism, and peak dad energy collide as we crown a brand new champion. And just when you think we're done… nope. Emmy-winning actor William H. Macy pulls up IN STUDIO for a Bar Cart Friday… on a Thursday. Because rules don't apply here. It's chaotic. It's stacked. It's one you don't want to miss. Cheers.
Things got REAL on this Bar Cart Friday… we've got Woody Creek Distillers in the building AND yes… that's William H. Macy sitting in studio with Big Rich, TD and Fletch

Welcome back to a new week and a new month of BEHIND THE LENS! I've got a terrific show for you today, thanks to actor and producer KATIE CASSIDY and director JON KEEYES talking all things SPEED DEMON! And what a film it is! A runaway train. A demon named Asmodeus. A nun called upon to perform an exorcism. On paper, it sounds like the kind of high-concept supernatural action-horror mash-up that could easily veer into camp. Instead, director Jon Keeyes and star/producer Katie Cassidy deliver something far more compelling. Beneath the demonic possession, biblical imagery, and escalating terror lies a deeply human story about grief, addiction, faith, and self-discovery. And at the center of the story is Sister Lu. The official synopsis of SPEED DEMON is: When Father Novak and Sister Lu board a train from Montreal to New York City, they aren't prepared for the danger and evil that would pursue them. After the train is taken over by the demon Asmodeus, Father Novak and Sister Lu must battle possessed passengers on a runaway train, with Sister Lu forced to overcome her faltering faith and perform the first exorcism done by a nun. SPEED DEMON is directed by JON KEEYES, written by Domenico Salvaggio, and stars Katie Cassidy, William H. Macy, Allen McCullough, Sari Arambulo, Jeremy Matthew Feight, Sky Vaux Fuller (scene stealer!!), Noriko Sato, Michael John Importa, and John Patrick Jordan. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

This week on Eat Drink Smoke Happy Hour, Tony and Fingers review Woody Creek Distillers Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a 90-proof bourbon with a mash bill of 70% dent corn, 15% rye, and 15% malted barley. The guys break down the bourbon’s oak, honey, vanilla, sugar-cream-pie sweetness and slow-building heat, then test it neat, with water and on a cube to see where it really shines. They also revisit the Tatuaje Avion 13 Corojo, a 6 7/8 x 52 Nicaraguan Corojo perfecto that keeps delivering cedar, coffee, spice and a surprising hay note as it moves into the second third. Also this week: William H. Macy, Indy 500 radio greatness, Mother’s Day gift disasters, TSA officers leaving during the shutdown, the return of questionable gift guides and why a cow from Defiance Beef may be the only Mother’s Day present that truly says love. Send us Fan MailEpisode 116 – The 3rd Person Narration/Paul Schneider/Nick Cave Standoff: The Assassination of Jesse Jame by the Coward Robert Ford v. Train Dreams. All aboard episode 116 of the Triple F—chugging along the tracks laid by legendary filmmaker Terrence Malick, we're discussing two noteworthy films that closely follow his style in recounting tales of the American experience star ting with 2007's The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Shepard, Sam Rockwell, Jeremy Renner, Paul Schneider, Garret Dillahunt, Mary-Louise Parker, Alison Elliott, Zooey Deschanel, Ted Levine, Michael Parks, James Carville, with Hugh Ross as narrator—up against Clint Bentley's Train Dreams, recently watched and retroactively crowned king of the 2025 film mountain, starring Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, William H. Macy, John Diehl, Kerry Condon, Paul Schneider again, Clifton Collins Jr., and Will Patton as narrator, a film that echoes Dominik's approach through its third-person narration, recurring Paul Schneider presence, and a Nick Cave–inflected musical sensibility. Covering me with their scatterguns this week are my usual duo of bushwackers, my kid sis and snooty bookworm Roseanne Caputi and slit-eyed outlaw with enough oat and barley in his voice to give Will Patton and Hugh Ross a run for their money, the one and only Gordon Alex Robertson. Before we start shoveling coal into the engines, the synopses: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert FordOutlaw Jesse James, increasingly paranoid and unpredictable, surrounds himself with a dwindling gang that no longer knows whether he's losing his grip, giving up, or testing their loyalty. Among them is Robert Ford, a devoted admirer whose presence only adds to the tension as trust breaks down within the group. In Train Dreams Robert Grainger, a railroad laborer in the early 20th-century American West, struggles to build a life as isolation and personal loss reshape his world. Are these films of comparable quality or does one tower over the other?Find out!Watch the video version on youtube:

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Entertain This! Podcast, we review the 1996 Coen Brothers film Fargo, where snowy politeness occasionally masks rather unremarkable miscalculations, including one notably memorable woodchipper incident. We examine the film's competent blend of crime, dark humor, and Midwestern restraint, noting Frances McDormand's steady portrayal of Marge Gunderson alongside William H. Macy's depiction of hapless desperation. While the Coens' dialect-driven wit and visual irony lend a measure of amusement to this tale of ambition gone somewhat sideways, the narrative ultimately registers as solid yet unexceptional. Spoiler filled and measured in tone, tune in for our balanced assessment of why Fargo qualifies as a respectable, if not indispensable, example of independent filmmaking. What if your greatest creative superpower wasn't talent—but vulnerability? In this episode of The Motivatarian Exchange with Dionne Woods, Dionne sits down with groundbreaking portrait artist ShenShen210 for a conversation that moves from freight trains and graffiti culture to faith, purpose, and the courage to fully embody who you were created to be. Growing up in the Bay Area of San Francisco, Shen began painting at just 15 years old—eventually becoming known as one of the first female freight train graffiti artists on the West Coast. At a time when the street art world was overwhelmingly male, she carved out her own place with spray paint, bold color, and fearless expression. Her artistic path has taken her from painting graffiti on trains and large-scale wall murals to prestigious exhibitions, live stage painting, and portrait commissions for notable figures including Clint Eastwood, William H. Macy, and Tim Tebow. But Shen's journey started in humble and creative ways—painting T-shirts at Six Flags and growing up in a family she describes as "rebels," collectors, and storytellers who inspired curiosity and appreciation for beautiful objects long before it was trendy. Today, Shen's work blends aerosol techniques with mixed media portraiture, capturing the emotion and spirit of her subjects in ways that feel raw, honest, and deeply human. In this heartfelt conversation, Dionne and Shen explore: • Why Shen believes vulnerability is her true artistic superpower • What it was like to break barriers as a female graffiti artist in the 1980s • How scripture—especially Epistle to the Ephesians 2:10—shaped her understanding that we are created to create • Painting live on stage during a recent event with Tim Tebow • Why faith and creativity are deeply intertwined in her life and art Shen also reflects on a powerful quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that has guided her creative courage: "Do not be timid or squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment." Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Shen continues to exhibit internationally, paint murals, and create powerful portrait work while using her art as a way to share faith, beauty, and redemption. Her message is clear: We were created to create—and sometimes the bravest thing we can do is simply show up as ourselves. Upcoming Events: Square Foot Show, Painting Live Onstage with Tim Tebow this fall, and hosting ongoing curated exhibits at The Factory in Franklin, TN. Barry Levinson's Wag the Dog Nothing's Changed/Nothing's New and we learned that in 1996 with Barry Levinson's Wag the Dog. As important 30 years later as when it was released, this week Mr. Chavez & I sit down to understand a film that predicted its own time (being released a few weeks before The Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky White House Scandal would break), but is also a simpler and almost quaint version of Epstein, Donald Trump, and Ol' Billy Jeff returning to relevance. A Sex Scandal covered up by a Manufactured War, revealing the spin doctoring and propaganda that fuels every election, Wag the Dog is the rare film that grows bolder and more prescient as years pass and facts fight to be discovered. Featuring great performances from Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman (hilarious, exaggerated, and on point), and a supporting cast including Anne Heche, Willie Nelson, Denis Leary, William H. Macy, and a ridiculously unhinged Woody Harrelson, Wag the Dog has volumes to say about our government, The White House, political parties, and the lying, cheating bastards that run the machine. Take a listen for a fun and enlightening conversation. As always, we can be reached at gondoramos@yahoo.com - Many, Many Thanks. Despite first-day nerves, the moment became one of the most rewarding experiences of the shoot. An especially meaningful moment came when Gary stepped onto Trent's office set and noticed a National War College degree on the wall, a touching coincidence given that his late father was a U.S. Army colonel who studied at the sister institution, the Army War College. Beyond The Night Agent, Gary has appeared in several major television series including:

This week Evan and Bill are joined by the folks from the Worker's Lit podcast to talk about the 2025 film "The Running Man," directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell, Colman Domingo, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, Josh Brolin, and Michael Cera. With a special appearance by Lee Pace. This episode is part two of our collaboration with Worker's Lit covering a book and the movie based on it, in this case the Stephen King novel by the same name. During the episode we discuss how much more capably Wright and Powell portray class consciousness than King, note how the movie improved on the book, and remained loyal to it by having a less than satisfying ending.Check out the episode we did with Worker's Lit here!Guest LinksOfficial WebsiteWorker's Lit on InstagramWorker's Lit on YouTubeLeft of the Projector LinksOfficial WebsiteLeft of the Projector on InstagramLeft of the Projector on PatreonLeft of the Projector on ThreadlessHost LinksEvan's LetterboxdBill's InstagramBill's LetterboxdWard's InstagramWard's Letterboxd
This week's pick is Train Dreams: a quiet, meditative Netflix drama adapted from Denis Johnson's novella, following the life of Robert Grainer (Joel Edgerton) — a logger and railroad worker drifting through early 20th-century America. It's the kind of film that feels like a memory: sparse dialogue, heavy atmosphere, and a sense of time moving faster than any one person can keep up with. The opening sets the tone immediately: rail tracks, a tunnel, Will Patton's voiceover, and an image that pays off later — boots nailed to a tree, slowly swallowed by nature. From there it's a whole life in fragments: brutal work camps, quiet domestic joy, sudden violence, and the long, haunted aftermath of loss. What we talked aboutA “Western” that isn't really a Western — frontier vibes at first, then you realise you're watching the world modernise around one man who can't.Work as a lifetime trap: logging season, railroad labour, the “build it for someone else” feeling, and the way corporations just roll on regardless. The Chinese labour thread and the early sequence where a Chinese worker is taken and thrown from the bridge — and how that moment sits with Grainer for decades.William H. Macy as the old explosives guy: funny, weary, and then brutally, pointlessly lost. The wildfire: Grainer racing home, the cabin gone, wife and daughter gone off-screen — and the film refusing to give closure, so you feel the same unresolved grief he does. The recurring motif of time erasing everything: the boots, the forest reclaiming, bridges made obsolete, progress moving on without sentiment. The late-film whiplash into modernity: Grainer seeing spaceflight on a shop-window TV, then taking a plane ride — an old man briefly touching the future.Nick Cave over the end credits, and how the score and natural lighting carry the whole thing.VerdictA beautifully shot, melancholy life-story film: quiet, heavy, and surprisingly moving. Joel Edgerton is superb, and the movie's best trick is making the audience feel the scale of time — and the smallness of one person inside it.Strong recommend, especially if you're in the mood for something reflective rather than plot-driven.You can now text us anonymously to leave feedback, suggest future content or simply hurl abuse at us. To close out our Good Presidents month, we end with the toughest President ever put on screen: Harrison Ford in Air Force One. Co-starring Gary Oldman, Wendy Crewson, Paul Guilfoyle, William H. Macy, Liesel Matthews, and Dean Stockwell, with gritty direction from Wolfgang Peterson. Ford might force you off your plane, but you won't want to leave this thrill ride.
Podcasting is what happens while you're busy making other plans! NostalgiaCast closes out its 1995 retrospective with a look back at MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS, directed by Stephen Herek and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Glenne Headly, William H. Macy, and Jean Louisa Kelly. Listen as Jonny and Darin wax nostalgic about their high school days, how the movie captures the importance of art and imagination as well as the highs and lows of a life worth living, and Dreyfuss's tour de force performance. Also the masterful way that MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS spans 30 years without resorting to digital de-aging or other cheap tricks used ad nauseam by filmmakers today.
Boogie Nights 1997 Review: 200 episodes in, and Born to Watch hits a milestone with a film that feels weirdly, uncomfortably autobiographical. From the moment Whitey declares this the perfect way to celebrate the show's 200th episode, it's clear this isn't just another movie review. Boogie Nights is loud, chaotic, hilarious, messy, strangely heartfelt and absolutely stacked with characters who think they're on top of the world until reality comes crashing in. In other words, it's the ideal Born to Watch film.Set against the late-70s and early-80s adult film industry, Paul Thomas Anderson's second feature is a sprawling ensemble piece that follows the rise and fall of Eddie Adams, reborn as Dirk Diggler. Mark Wahlberg's breakout performance anchors the film, but this is never just Dirk's story. It's about a group of outsiders who form a surrogate family, chasing success, validation and meaning, until excess, ego and changing times pull them apart. The boys dig into the idea that Boogie Nights is really two films stitched together, the euphoric disco-soaked rise of the 70s, followed by the darker, cocaine-fuelled collapse of the 80s. It's a tonal shift that mirrors the characters' journeys, from optimism and community to paranoia, loneliness and self-destruction. When Little Bill exits the film, everything changes, and the show explores how that moment symbolises the end of innocence for the entire group. There's plenty of love for the ensemble cast. Burt Reynolds' Jack Horner is discussed as both mentor and flawed father figure, a man clinging to an artistic vision while the industry evolves without him. Julianne Moore's Amber Waves is heartbreaking and layered, especially when the conversation turns to her custody battle and the illusion of freedom within the industry. John C Reilly, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Don Cheadle, Heather Graham and William H Macy all get their flowers, with Hoffman's painfully awkward Scotty and Macy's tragic Little Bill standing out as performances that linger long after the credits roll.As always, the Born to Watch humour cuts through the heavy themes. There's banter, self-reflection, side-tracking, and more than a few laughs at the absurdity of certain scenes, including the legendary Alfred Molina drug-deal sequence, which the team agrees is one of the most anxiety-inducing moments PTA has ever put on screen. The episode also looks at Boogie Nights in context, how it landed in 1997 alongside juggernauts like Titanic and LA Confidential, why it underperformed at the box office, and how it grew into a cult classic that feels even richer with repeat viewings. It's a film you can dip in and out of, catch individual scenes, and still be completely absorbed.Ultimately, this Boogie Nights 1997 Review becomes a celebration, not just of the film, but of the journey Born to Watch has been on for 200 episodes. It's messy, honest, occasionally inappropriate, and full of love for movies that take big swings. And really, what better way to celebrate than strapping on the roller skates and heading back to the Valley?BORN TO WATCH – JOIN THE CONVERSATIONIs Boogie Nights Paul Thomas Anderson's most rewatchable film?Does the movie completely change once the 80s arrive?Which character hits hardest on a rewatch?Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or at BornToWatch.com.au#BornToWatch #BoogieNights #PTA #MoviePodcast #FilmDiscussion #CultCinema #1990sMovies #MovieReview #PodcastLife #200Episodes

Acting is weird, brutal work. Fargo star William H. Macy breaks down why desperation makes great art — and how he finally learned to act at age 60.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1223What We Discuss with William H. Macy:Character is defined by action, not words or backstory. What you do reveals who you are, making desperation and relentlessness compelling on screen. The best actors are bulletproof against criticism of their craft because they commit fully to their choices without seeking approval or worrying about being flattering.William didn't truly learn to act until his 60s on Shameless. Getting his 10,000 hours taught him to drop baggage and focus only on what's essential in the moment.Really look and really listen. This simple technique transforms performances because genuine attention makes others self-conscious and creates authentic reactions.Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Happiness comes from accepting who you are and doing what you're naturally good at rather than fixing every flaw. And much more...And if you're still game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps!
