Can your cybersecurity keep hackers at bay?Can cybersecurity be used as a marketing tool by a credit union? Can a banker in fact become a credit union executive? For answers, listen to this podcast with Daniel Ford, CIO at Jovia, a $3+ billion credit union on Long Island that you probably know as NEFCU. The rebranding occurred a month ago.Ford joined NEFCU via First Source Bank in South Bend (IN), where he was the chief information officer, responsible for infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application development. We asked him bluntly: can a banker in fact fit into a credit union's philosophy? You can guess his answer but give it a full listen. He makes points to remember.Podcasts in this series that explore bankers and credit unions include Jim Blaine, Bucky Sebastian, Gary Oakland, and Marc Schaefer. Ford also talks, at length, about what a CIO needs to do to stay on top of cybersecurity and also how to work with vendors. As for using cybersecurity as a marketing tool, don't be too quick to say no way. The gang is back with another episode to melanate your palate and feed your soul! This week we are joined in the studio with a special guest Jovia Radix Candidate for Councilwoman for the 45th District in Brooklyn. We discuss her platform for city council - to be the first councilwoman & black councilwoman. Consisting of: Flatbush, East Flatbush, Flatlands, Ditmas Park, Kensington, Midwood, & Marine Park "Growing up in the 90’s in Flatbush, I watched as our neighbors couldn’t stand up for themselves while having housing and fair wage issues that weren’t addressed due to their fear and lack of documentation. This led my mother to create DC 37’s first ever immigration program for union members. AS Councilwoman, I pledge to create more of these types of programs, even though we cannot change Washington’s policies we can arm our society with the resources to combat them. As Councilwoman, I will fight to give our students the training to prepare them for the future and the options to allow them to choose exciting career paths. I want to bring my passion for securing their future to City Council. My life’s work has been centered around public service. And now it’s time for me to serve you. As an Attorney, I have worked on defending tenant’s rights and government affairs across our city. I seek to leverage that expertise to create and promote policies in the best interest of the 45th council district." ~ Jovia Radix For more info, please check out the following. www.radix4council.com https://www.facebook.com/radix4council https://www.instagram.com/radixforcouncil https://twitter.com/radix4council info@radix4council.com Office Address 4517 Ave D 2nd Fl. Sometimes we just seem to be in the right place at the right time. Such is the case as I happened to "discover" the music of Jovia. Actually, we were on Twitter last night and a virtual conversation about music made it's way back and forth as a series of direct messages. As it turns out, Jovia and I are related! LOL Well, we know some of the same people and therefore, we are knit at the souls. One mention of Stico Von Drake, Kafele Bandele, or Koku Gonza and you have my attention for good. See how small the world is? http://www.joviamusic.com/ I can already imagine the feedback we're going to receive about this award winning, multi-percussionist, producer, and seasoned vocalist. As beautiful as the day, Jovia's music is destined to find it's way into your hearts. We asked to feature this track which comes from her album.
