We had the pleasure of interviewing FINKEL over Zoom video! Adam was able to talk to Brian and Jane of FINKEL over Zoom video. The married couple told us about meeting in a college acapella group, starting a band and how a viral hit took them to LA. Check out FINKEL’s new song, Bleach Vial!Jane and Brian Spencer of FINKEL seem to arrive from the near future, or perhaps somewhere out there, appearing with a slight shimmer of a dimension adjacent to our own. With an atmosphere treading the periphery of pop, the duo’s tangible vocal presence overlays hypnotic electro pulsations in a combination that teases out details of last night’s otherworldly dreams and tempts the waking state to return to its astral analog. While it remains unclear where these two have been, it’s evident enough that they’re here now. She triggering a MIDI mixing board, he on guitar, their vocals intertwine with a shadowy fluidity that invokes notions of another time; perhaps the middle of next week. They sense you wondering what you’re doing then, and invite you back to the present with a wink. A tale of two spirits unravels curiously from the seams of FINKEL's musical catalogue. Their ethereal synthetic textures and rich vocal harmonies produce an aesthetic that grabs attention and gives it a nudge. The result somehow distills the mood of a strange day’s fleeting moments into a potent, lingering hex. Like the feeling of a passing glance with a mysterious stranger, we’re left assured we just encountered something ineffable, and wondering if someone else felt it too. FINKEL most recently released their debut EP, "Backpack of Snacks" on April 3rd and then put out a remix EP, "Remix of Snacks" on August 21st. To round out 2020, the duo plans to release a pandemic reflection record titled "Sick 2020" with features from hip hop artists Monse and Kamakaze, comedian Laura DiLorenzo, along with several other features on December 11th, 2020. We want to hear from you! On today’s episode of The Roger That Podcast I go down memory lane as I re live my first few couple shows that I went to from 13-17. Jim Fowler has written music and created sound for theatre, film, animation and games since 2002. He has orchestrated for the BAFTA award winning score of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and, in 2018, arranged and orchestrated "PlayStation in Concert" for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. As staff composer and orchestrator at Sony PlayStation, Fowler worked on projects such as: Wonderbook: Book of Spells (part of J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World) & LittleBigPlanet.Joe Thwaites is currently working at Sony Playstation as a composer and is writing the music for a number of Playstation VR titles. He has contributed to projects such as Killzone: Mercenary, PotterMore, The Book of Spells and Book of Potions from J.K. Rowling.One of the duos most recent collaborations is for the Playstation VR game, BLOOD & TRUTH.On May 28, 2019, BLOOD & TRUTH, developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment's London Studios, was released for PlayStation VR and in the game you become an elite Special Forces soldier, Ryan Marks. Full of epic gun play and explosive set pieces, this exhilarating adventure fires you into a desperate mission to save Marks' loved ones from a cold-blooded criminal overlord. The first part of BLUE MARS starts with a chapter from the perspective of Ann Clayborne, who we've only seen through the eyes of others since way back in GREEN MARS, "Long Runout"--something like 500 pages! A lot has changed since then, but BLUE MARS picks up right after the end of GREEN MARS, with no delay. Ann finds herself alienated from the Reds, the revolutionary faction she leads, and especially from the radical sect the Kamakaze, led by Kasei and Dao. In Hiroko's absense, Ann's son, Peter, is the head of the Greens. The Reds and Greens are arguing about taking the space elevator down again, and Ann is caught in the middle! Tension all around! Matt and Hilary discuss Ann's struggle to sort out what she believes and whom she aligns herself with. Is she a politician or a scientist? A revolutionary or a stateswoman? Regardless, she's in surprisingly good shape considering she's 150 years old and stopped taking the gerontological treatments 25 years ago. This chapter has it all: themes of loss and uncertainty, acts of horrific death and destruction, ideological critique, and peer-reviewed journals! Ann appears at turns an avenging angel and the angel of history. On the one hand, she sees people as fungus; on the other, she's struck by the senselessness of the deaths of people who might've lived a thousand years. There's a lot to talk about! Our heroes escaped moments before the crazy uncle from Christmas Vacation flew a Kamakaze mission straight into the butthole of the mothership. (that’s how we remembered it, at least). Casey Martin and Rob Williams are Kamakaze Fireflies and they kicked royal ass on America's Got Talent. So much so they have been touring non stop every since. Rob came from Broadway (not Off Broadway and not Off Off Broadway which is my friend Sal's basement but like REAL Broadway); Casey toured with Williams Shatner's comedy group.
