From the outside, so many brands look like they were always destined to be successful… But that's not the case. Today's guest, Vic from Muscle Republic, is here to share the real, unfiltered journey of what it takes to build a business that LASTS and all the road bumps that come with it. This isn't a highlight reel. We're diving into the raw, behind-the-scenes moments that nearly broke him… and how he pushed through it when most people would've walked away. We're talking sleeping in his warehouse to cut costs and go ALL IN, flying to Bangladesh and China to track down suppliers, delivering t-shirts door to door to build Muscle Republic, and ultimately turning it into one of Australia's top sportswear brands. You'll hear: The Black Friday sale that created so much hype that it oversold by 3000 orders How he keeps his team and himself focused on the vision, no matter how tough it gets Why he kept going EVEN when his family and friends staged an intervention … and a whole lot more Prefer watching to listening? Vic is the owner of Muscle Republic which is the biggest fitness clothing brand in Australia. This episode is extremely motivating because for Vic to achieve so much success with MR he has had to overcome lots of obstacles and he has used the mental discipline he acquired from competing as a natural bodybuilder to propel him forward. I am an ambassador for MR because firstly the gym kit they produce is second to none and secondly MR is much more than just a clothing brand: 'Real muscle is heart' and Vic is a great example of this. Episode 15 goes much deeper than just clothing though! Vic discusses the art of consistency, taking action, creating good habits etc.... and these tips will be useful whether you are trying to get in shape or run a successful business, I believe you will get some great takeaways from this episode either way.

QUOTES & SHOW NOTES [1.33] “I’ve always been interested in psychology specifically, but through my journey I’ve realised that the brand that you align yourself with, if their core values are you know in the realm of helping other people, you have a good ability to touch the people that you can help.” [2:09] “Vic the owner of Muscle Republic, I’ve known for a very long time. We both have values that align with one another and both of us were positively influenced with fitness, which is primarily what the brand of Muscle Republic is about.” [2:50] “The main thing with anxiety and depression is, there’s more people that are suffering from it than we know. It’s not really talked about. It’s something that a lot of people are ashamed to admit.” [3.40] “I don’t think anxiety is abnormal.” [4.25] “It’s the fear of saying the wrong thing.” [5:05] “For me, what causes it is just wanting to look a certain way and to think in today’s day and age, social media everyone’s putting everything out there and creating this picture of their lives when we’re all human but no one wants to look human.” [5:38] “Do you find it hard to show your vulnerabilities?” [5.43] “Did it get easier once you accepted it?” [9:00] “Is it hard taking advice from someone that’s never gone through it?” [10:05] “Does anxiety lead to depression?” [10:14] “Depression can be a chemical in balance in your brain. Some people’s brains don’t produce as much cortisol as they should.” For all show notes and subscription information you can find us via Website: http://muscleandmindpodcast.com

A couple of mates that I was with said, how can they possibly make this and sell it for $6 because we could sell this for $40 in Australia.” [3:05] “My friend said to me I should make my own, as a bit of a bet.” [4.47] “I made these muscle tees at the time, as I loved training in them. It just happened at the right time. The trend and fashion was leaning towards Muscle Tees in 2013, it was a street wear thing.” [5.05] “You couldn’t find the right fit, that was the one issue I was going through. I was going to Rebel to buy my apparel and I just couldn’t find anything that fitted me perfectly and I thought I would just make my own.” [5.35] “I was probably at my worst when I was bodybuilding, I hit rock bottom. I had no personal assets, no money in the bank, living pay-check to pay-check. I had to move back in with my parents.” [6.20] “I didn’t realise at the time that I was always complaining about things, very ungrateful.” [6.26] “I had to hit rock bottom in order to realise I had to make changes. I woke up one morning saying enough is enough, I’m going to come back.” [6.35] “Part of that journey was actually getting my dog.
