Erinnerst du dich an dein eigenes Schülerpraktikum? Kaffee kochen, kopieren, danebenstehen. Genau hier setzen meine beiden Gäste an.

Penn who is the son of former Craftsman Truck Series Champion Johnny Sauter and grandson of the legendary Midwestern competitor Jim talks to us about his upcoming season growing up in a racing family and if he faces any pressure to live up to the Sauter name and reputation. Kristian Armstead grew up in Michigan but has settled in nicely in the South Boston area of Virginia racing in the Hornets Division. Last Saturday during Danville Toyota Race Night, him and his small team of three's hard work paid off with his first win ever at the speedway. Kristian joins us to discuss his career so far, what it means for him to win at a speedway that has seen so many legends do the same and overcoming some of the faster cars to claim his first win of what he hopes to be many. Julian was at SoBo on Saturday and the boys reviewed the other racing action from the Halifax County facility. From Trevor Ward picking up twin second place finishes to Peyton Sellers and Johnny Layne adding to their impressive career win totals in Late Models and Pure Stocks respectively to Jacob Derrick's late pass on Drew Dawson to win in Limiteds, it was quite the opening day for three of the track's four divisions. We spoke with Bobby McCarty following his win in the second race. For McCarty, it has been a struggle the last few seasons getting his new team up and going and yes, there were times he thought it was over for him. Saturday proved otherwise by returning to victory lane just like Lee Pulliam did two weeks ago. The SMART Modified Tour invaded Dominion Raceway on Saturday in a race absolutely dominated by Carson Loftin who grabbed his first win of 2026.

The New CISO

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 29, 2026 54:07

In this episode of The New CISO, host Steve Moore speaks with Manuel "Manu" Ressel, CISO at SAUTER Group, about his unconventional journey from classroom teacher to cybersecurity leader—and why the "Four Cs" of modern education provide a powerful framework for building effective security programs. Drawing from years as both a teacher and school principal in Germany, Manu introduces Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity as essential leadership skills that fundamentally challenge how the industry approaches awareness training and incident response. After growing frustrated with Germany's outdated education system that prioritized memorization over critical thinking, Manu left his position as principal and reinvented himself as a digital transformation consultant. Working with schools and mid-sized companies to adopt cloud technologies, he eventually landed the CISO role at SAUTER, an international building automation company with 4,000 employees across multiple countries. The conversation tackles security's most persistent failure: awareness training that doesn't work. Manu reveals that 37% of security incidents in Germany could be prevented if users made better decisions, yet most organizations rely on boring click-through programs. He advocates for scenario-based, role-specific training—an approach now mandated by Europe's NIS 2 regulation—that treats people as the biggest opportunity in cybersecurity rather than the weakest link. One of the episode's most practical frameworks is Manu's Observation-Description-Interpretation method for analyzing security incidents. He explains how humans naturally jump from observation directly to interpretation, skipping the crucial middle step of accurately describing what actually happened. This leads to finger-pointing, misdiagnosis, and hasty decisions.

In this episode, we host Associate Professor Disa Sauter from the University of Amsterdam, and Edward Mishaud from The Beyond Lab at UN Geneva, to explore affective science and the role of hope in driving individual and collective sustainability action. They explain active versus passive hope, how different emotions shape decision-making, and why hopeful, solution-focused communication matters for sustainable development. The conversation highlights practical pathways for bringing emotion research into multilateral spaces, the secret of storytelling as a tool to cultivate hope, and real-world examples of collective impact. Listeners learn how hope can mobilize agency, bridge individual and collective action, and inform better policy, negotiations and outreach. Resources: Ask a Librarian! This week, the NK News podcast explores the New York Times' recent revelations about a 2019 U.S. Navy SEAL mission on North Korea's coast. The operation reportedly aimed at installing surveillance equipment but went awry, resulting in the death of unarmed North Koreans and raising escalation risks. Mark Sauter, a former U.S. Army soldier with decades of experience investigating POW/MIA issues and covert operations, joins the podcast to explain what allegedly happened, why it may have gone sideways and how these events echo earlier covert U.S. and South Korean infiltrations stretching back to the Korean War. Sauter is the founder and president of the POW Investigative Project and author of “American Trophies.” He has been investigating American POWs for almost 30 years and previously served as a soldier in the U.S. Army, including as a guard post commander at the Demilitarized Zone. About the podcast: The North Korea News Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Jacco Zwetsloot exclusively for NK News, covering all things DPRK — from news to extended interviews with leading experts and analysts in the field, along with insight from our very own journalists. The Biblical Case Against Young-Earth Creationism by Ken Sauter https://www.amazon.com/Biblical-Case-Against-Young-Earth-Creationism/dp/B0CWSHBWHY When Ken Sauter heard about young Christians losing their faith in college as they were presented with evidence for evolution, evidence of an ancient earth, astronomical methods of dating the universe, and many other secular assaults on their faith, he became concerned about how young people deal with these issues. The fact that so many Christians grow up in a protected Christian environment where they are taught the earth is very young does not prepare them to deal with the assault of secular science on their faith, and as a result, many young people lose their faith. They are simply not prepared to deal with the hard evidence they are presented with along with the assault on their faith. Rest assured there are good biblical answers to these issues, and any Christian can ably defend his faith with the arguments in this book. It is not necessary to believe in a young earth or abandon your faith. The Bible, when understood as it is written, does not contradict science and actually answers questions about the universe and our existence that science is unable to deal with. If you're looking for a good argument that reconciles biblical faith with true science concerning the age of the earth, this book will give you a good start on making that argument.
