"Kurt's seen it and my teammates have seen it. I've gotten better every single week for two years straight. So the world is seeing this massive jump, but for me, it's over 100 weeks of improvement. The six-time collegiate All-American and multiple-time USATF national champion was on a racing hot streak, having earned titles from the 5K up to the 20K. But, Erika insisted, she hadn't had her big, breakout, career-defining performance yet.  That changed this past weekend at the Houston Marathon. Erika finished second in 2:22:56 — and 11-minute personal best, and comfortably under the world standard. She remains the fastest American-born Black woman in the marathon. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue their deep dive into the Mica Francis case in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Today's episode begins with a clarification concerning Mica's divorce attorney Regina Ward and the settlement terms reached between JP Miller and Mica's family this past summer. Also on the show, in a press conference in June 2024, Regina Ward shared a list of abuses that Mica allegedly experienced at the hands of Pastor JP Miller … alleged abuses that mirror a proposed coercive control law that failed three times to make it out of state legislative committee. In that press briefing, Regina said that had this law been enacted before Mica's death there was a possibility it could have saved her life. Mandy and Liz take another look at the proposed law and a provision that seems like it would have protected JP more than it would have protected Mica. Plus, JP is up to his old antics and has filed 10 new civil lawsuits against an assortment of protesters and content creators. Less than three years before Mica Francis' body was found in a North Carolina swamp after her alleged suicide, there was another strange death near Solid Rock at Market Common, the Myrtle Beach church that belonged to Mica's husband Pastor JP Miller. That's the death of Chris Skinner, the 41-year-old quadriplegic man who was married to the woman JP was allegedly having an affair with at the time — the same woman JP has routinely been photographed with since Mica's death in April. Chris was found in his wheelchair at the bottom of his neighborhood pool. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell take a look at Chris' inspiring story of determination and hope — at who he was BEFORE he entered into JP's ecosystem in 2018. They also take a deeper look into his death, the ensuing investigation and the strange coincidences and inconsistencies that exist between his and Mica's cases.  Was Chris at the pool this morning because he was meeting someone to play chess? Or did he go there because he had lost hope? Chris' wife Suzie told police that he wasn't suicidal and she later referred to his death as having been a result of getting too close to the edge of the pool. Medical records from that day say her husband — pastor JP Miller — called one of Mica's mental health providers at 10 a.m. to say that Mica had stolen JP's credit card, snuck out of the house while he was sleeping, gone ot Dick's Pawn Shop that morning, purchased a gun, received a lesson on how to use it and then tried shooting herself in their front yard. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell take on the Good Ole Boys once again, starting with lawyers who knowingly file frivolous lawsuits. Last week Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller and his attorney Russell B. Long filed a defamation complaint against a paralegal who said he called her law office in search of a divorce attorney who could “destroy” his wife, Mica Francis, whose body was found in a North Carolina swamp last April. Not only is it laughable that JP believes this hurts his already-bad reputation, the complaint doesn't articulate that anything the paralegal stated as fact is untrue. Also on the show, a newly released report from Horry County Police Department shows that JP Miller was accused of bestiality this past June. What?!?! We'll share all that we know about this public document and our ongoing fight with Horry County to release all that can be according to SC state law.
