Physical health can be relatively easy to address because issues like cuts, sprains or broken bones are easy to identify in order to start the healing process. Mental health, however, is a different story and because emotional trauma does not express itself the same way as physical trauma it can be a challenge to address in a timely manner. Professional athletes and members of the military are often young, fit, healthy and possess an extreme drive to succeed at the highest levels of human performance which means it can be a challenge to admit vulnerability, let alone discuss when life might become emotionally overwhelming. Both retired combat veterans and retired professional athletes deal with similar issues - how to stay focused and continue to move forward when your mission in life changes drastically and there is a real risk of suicide among both populations. Jay Glazer is a professional reporter who covers the NFL for Fox; he is also a retired martial arts competitor who started the Unbreakable studio to help high performing individuals to train for success. Jay also started Merging Vets and Players (MVP), a program that holds conditioning workouts that double as support groups for both retired soldiers and athletes so these individuals can support one another in an effort to achieve optimal mental as well as physical health. On this episode of All About Fitness, Jay talks about his experience in martial arts, how he leveraged that to start Unbreakable and discusses the impact that the MVP Program is having on helping veterans and retired athletes address their mental health. Not many releases last week, but lots of shenanigans. I spelled that word on the first try which matters not a whit to anyone else but I'm proud of myself. The shenanigans themselves are an age old story: Big Corporation finds feeble consumers, and exploits them.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts offers a program that provides support to cities and towns in the state to begin the process of planning for climate change resiliency and implementing priority projects. It is called the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness or MVP Program. Cities and towns that achieve designation as an MVP community are eligible for funding for implementation of actions to improve their climate resiliency. The Cape Cod Commission is a certified MVP provider, and along with the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and Woods Hole Sea Grant has helped a number of Cape Cod towns achieve designation as an MVP community, including the Town of Harwich. In this episode, we talk with Cape Cod Commission Chief Planner Chloe Schaefer and Town of Harwich Planner Charleen Greenhalgh to discuss this important program and learn how it's helping Cape Cod towns prepare for the impacts of climate change.

We are taking a break from the "Dynamics 365 Content" to discuss a very important non-technical topic. Back on Episode 22, when asked "Which non-MVP community leader do you want to see here at the Microsoft MVP Summit next year and why?", CRM MVP Neil Benson said: "I'd like to see more women, I'd like to see more people who speak Arabic, and Korean, and Chinese, and Spanish, and Portuguese --- there's a lot of other countries around the world that are under-represented in the MVP Community and are just as passionate as we are about the product and about solving customer challenges. I'd like to see more of those people join the MVP Program." The lack of diversity in the MVP Program that Neil pointed out is a reflection of our industry as a whole, and it is something that we (MVPs) talk about often. So for this episode I invited a couple of people who are passionate about this topic to discuss why Diversity is important as well as what can we do as an industry to encourage more diversity. By the way, I realize that some of you are probably dissapointed that we are not covering Dynamics 365 Best Practices and Expert Insights on this episode, but don't worry, we'll be back to our original programming on Episode 30. :) Follow us: Salim Adamon: https://twitter.com/salimadamon Nick Doelman: https://twitter.com/readyxrm Gus Gonzalez: https://twitter.com/GusGonzalez2 Julie Yack: https://twitter.com/coloradojules
