So this was one of the most powerful shows that I've ever had the honor of producing in the last nine years. I did make formal show notes, but I just don't think it does it justice. First off, I want to say thank you to Don Mann, Seal Team 6 legend, star of Surviving Mann and the toughest man I have ever known.Randy Couture -Google the name TV&Movie Star alongside Sylvester Stallone in the Expendables movie series UFC hall of famer, Six time UFC champion, 14 years in the UFC but there was so much that I didn't know about Randy.Randy is former US Military and his mission now is really out there to help others. He founded the Extreme Couture GI Foundation. He's collabed with merging vets and players. We talked about what it's like to be a UFC champion, what it takes. We talked about transition from that world into movie stardom. We talked about what real self defense and real fighting is like not just the sport if cage fighting. We talked about mental health, we talked about men's health. We talked about the pros and cons of social media and we focused on male role models, we talked about veteran mental health. We talked about so much.- this was truly one of the most powerful shows I have been part of- any summary here can not do it justice. So I encourage you to listen to it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.Randy, thank you so much for coming on. Don, thank you for connecting us. We mentioned so many former guests on the show, it was brilliant. This was one of the most surprising and humbling shows I have ever recorded in the 9 years the podcast has been going- Randy is a true gentleman and his wisdom, humility and knowledge will astound you - hopefully as much as it did me.You can connect with Randy on the show notes below. Click on those but most importantly I would suggest Randy would want you to do is click on The Xtreme Couture GI Foundation xcgif.org and the Veteran Transition support vetsandplayers.org

Boyer and Russell further examine the changing landscape of college athletics, particularly the impact NIL has had on recruiting, player empowerment, and locker-room dynamics, while reflecting on how leadership and culture continue to shape athletes both on and off the field.

“Be proud of your scars. Be proud of the stuff that has knocked you down. Be proud of the crap, the adversity that you've gone through and it didn't break you. You came through the other side of the tunnel.” - Jay Glazer They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. This is especially true for Jay Glazer - and for his latest book: Unbreakable: How I Turned My Depression and Anxiety into Motivation and You Can Too If you've been watching Jay on camera over the years, you might find it hard to believe that, under the surface, he lives with an almost daily struggle with anxiety and depression. It's a week after the thrilling 125th Army-Navy Game, but even after the game, we still love hearing stories from our fellow Soldiers and Sailors. During our time on USAA's Media Row, we had fascinating conversations with military vets and senior military leaders. We start with Maj. General Brett Sylvia, Commanding General of the Army's mighty 101st Airborne (Air Assault). He shared some history from this legendary unit and offered a glimpse at the lethal capability they're bringing into the future. We also had a good time talking with Army Special Forces veteran, football player and filmmaker Nate Boyer. He discussed his "late bloomer" path to the Army and football, and how his organization “Merging Vets and Players” brings vets together with former NFL athletes. He was joined by American Legion, Executive Director of Government Affairs Director and Marine Corps veteran Mario Marquez. who shared how The American Legion is not your grandfathers pub, but remains an awesome organization for veterans from every generation. We wrap our time on Media Row, with two vets and Senior Executives from the Army Navy Game's proud sponsor, USAA. Former Army Major Rob Braggs shared how service has become a family tradition and former Navy Captain Bill White shares some of his favorite military memories, including how we actually served on the same ship back in the 90s. Plus how USAA offers services that can truly help our nation's veterans live their best life. The Hazard Ground podcast was created by Mark Zinno to allow members of our military to share their stories of combat & survival and deliver inspirational stories about resilience. Mark was studying communications at Loyola University and joined the ROTC to help pay for his tuition. His original intent was to simply complete his four year commitment to Army and then 9/11 happened. He now has twenty five years of service in both the active duty and the National Guard, and currently holds the rank of Colonel in the Army Reserve. He had two deployments to Iraq. Mark also has over twenty years of experience as both a radio and television sports broadcaster. While on drill at the local center, Mark noticed paintings that highlighted famous battles. One commemorated the battle of Takur Ghar. He researched it and immediately wondered why more people didn't know about this epic battle. He connected with a longtime friend who was familiar with the “backend” aspects of podcasting and the Hazard Ground podcast was born. We discuss that advantage of being a Veteran interviewing other Veterans. Often the conversation can be more in depth because he has “been there, there done that”. He feels HIS job is to “translate” these stories for the civilian population. We also briefly discuss the risks of “stolen valor” guests. As both a Veteran and a professional in the sports broadcasting industry, Mark has some pretty strong feelings about how sports team sometimes “use” Veterans to make money. “If you walked up to your friend and said I just put five dollars in the Salvation Army bucket, what do you think of me? You would look ridiculous and sound ridiculous.” Mark is also involved in the Merging Vets and Players organization. MVP is a wonderful organization that connects Veterans and Professional athletes to help each other dealing with the transition “when the uniform comes off.” TAKEAWAY: Mark is proud that his podcast is chronicling history from a first person perspective. “When the child of one of our guests asks their parent what they did in the war, they can direct them to their Hazard Ground podcast.”

There is a very large problem in our veteran community - Every day, 640 veterans attempt suicide, 22 veterans die, and over 5,500 are thinking about committing suicide. In fact, more veterans died from suicide in a ten-year period than during the entire span of the Vietnam War. Approximately 48% of all military members struggle after transitioning from military service. They lose their team, their identity, their mission, the friends, their purpose. All with no more than a handshake and a thank you. While at the same time often facing a plethora of physical and mental health issues. While difficult and a big challenge, these struggles don't have to be, and should not be, the end of their story. There is a bright and successful future available for every veteran if we can help them help themselves to reach their greatest potential. In this part 1 of our 2 part series, Emma and Bruce are joined by Air Force Veteran, Bob Taylor. His book, From Service to Success, is a lifeline for veterans who seek to move past the pain and trauma of service and adapt to a new way of living. This book is also a resource for any civilian who knows a veteran or is connected to the military in anyway. The more awareness we can bring to these alarming numbers, the more we can break the stigma around mental health and move from a perspective of weakness and brokenness, to one of opportunity and growth, we can begin to get people the help they need. According to Bob, “We need to find forgiveness for ourselves, find a new purpose, learn new tools and skills, and press forward so we don't spend the rest of our lives in the darkness.” In From Service to Success, Bob Taylor explains that while it's very important for veterans to have the means to support themselves, it is absolutely critical that they learn ways to become a part of their community, to forgive themselves, to develop healthy living styles, and to grab onto the best that life has to offer. The three most important steps for veterans to take after reading From Service to Success: •Create a mindset of gratitude •Find a way to sleep through the night—if necessary, seek help to get there •Discover a purpose bigger than themselves We really enjoyed getting to know Bob and hearing how his own personal quest for healing has transformed his life as well as influencing the lives of so many around him.Part 2 will be available next week! Bob's book can be found at: https://www.amazon.com/Service-Success-Mission-Purpose-Journey/dp/1636980171?nodl=1&dplnkId=e9fccd41-263d-486a-aa99-27d3ee921962If you know anyone who could benefit from this episode please share the link to the show or Bob's book. We encourage all veterans and retired players to join Merging Vets and Players. Our mission is to UNITE in community so that you still have a team when the uniform comes off. How Do We Create Meaning Beyond The Uniform? Nate Boyer shows us just that today. For those not familiar with Nate's story, he is an Army Green Beret, philanthropist, humanitarian, and former football plater for University of Texas. At 34, Nate became the oldest rookie in NFL history while playing with the Seattle Seahawks. Nate's unique experience of finding himself a part of both the professional athlete and veteran community, shapes a lot of the work he does now. Having seen how both communities can often struggle to create a meaningful life once their uniforms were laid down, Nate joined up with Jay Glazer to found Merging Vets & Players, or MVP for short. MVP helps tackle the transition struggles through workouts and workshops that provide the space for both parties to tap back into who they've always been. Today we discuss his movie, MVP which highlights a lot more of how the organization came to be. We dive into discovering new perspective on grit, managing the adversities we all face in our lives, and how we can start to create more meaning in our life. -There was a bit of confusion early on ‘An Evening with Quinn Ewers,' and the high price of attending the event and if he was getting all the money. For those curious, the event on July 22nd costs $283.84 for an adult ticket; $37.89 for children's tickets; and $2,312.21 for a VIP group for four attendees-The event will provide proceeds to Merging Vets and Players, a non-profit formed by Jay Glazer and former U.S. Army Green Beret/Texas/NFL long snapper Nate Boyer…so we have an actual place for proceeds beyond just in Ewers' pocket. Seems like a good idea and mission…right? Show sponsored by GANA TRUCKINGAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Nate Boyer, a Former Army Green Beret and football player, discusses his attraction to challenges, pushing oneself to the limit, and the importance of growth through setbacks. In this episode, he shares a personal story about auditioning for a TV show and recognizing different perspectives. Nate talks about his nonprofit work with Merging Vets and Players (MVP), helping veterans and athletes find their identity post-career. The concept of deliberate discomfort and the desire for relevance are explored. He also mentions Water Boys, an organization providing clean water wells in Tanzania. The impact of clean water availability, benefits to communities, and the significance of leadership qualities. Key Takeaways [03:52] Nate Boyer emphasizes the tough nature of various fields, such as being an elite athlete, a Green Beret, or an actor and the desire to compete at the highest level and the experience of competition from a young age create a strong attraction. Nate finds the process of putting in hard work, practice, and dedication towards a goal, regardless of winning or losing, immensely fulfilling. [07:38]Nate reflects on the open but unyielding door, symbolizing the constant possibility of success despite the lack of opportunities. He believes that part of his drive comes from a place of insecurity, wanting to prove himself and overcome feelings of not being good enough. [12:09] He said that setbacks create space for pursuing something that may have been put on hold or exploring new dreams and aspirations and it's essential to open up and listen to the universe, allowing new possibilities to emerge. Embracing this perspective can lead to finding new paths and opportunities for personal fulfillment. [15:10] Nate stated that letting go of attachment to the outcome and understanding that it's not about you personally can help navigate the ups and downs of such subjective industries and stay resilient and focus on honing your skills and pursuing opportunities where your unique abilities and vision align with the right fit. [20:06] Nate talks about MVP, where he co-founded along with Jay Glazer, the nonprofit organization Merging Vets and Players (MVP) in 2015. He said that MVP aims to support both military veterans and professional athletes who often face challenges when transitioning out of their respective fields. [26:45] He talks about how the transition to a new phase is becoming necessary, but it can be challenging to let go of the familiar and find new avenues to feel alive and fulfilled. As people grow older, they may encounter these feelings in various aspects of their lives, such as transitioning away from a beloved activity like football. [34:53] Nate shares that the most impactful and rewarding work he's been involved in is the Water Boys initiative started by Chris Long. This work has brought clean and accessible water to numerous communities, improving their quality of life and health. He also shares that being a part of this initiative and witnessing the positive change it brings has been incredibly rewarding for him. [36:44] Closing quote: Remember, ”A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” – Jackie Robinson Quotable Quotes “It's nice to sort of push yourself to the limit physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and see how far you can go.” “Sometimes we do things, we make mistakes, and we suffer the consequences.” “You can restart a whole new sector of your life.” “It's time to open your aperture back up and listen to the universe a little bit.” “Veteran community is often really struggling. A lot of times they're struggling not just with the loss of identity and uniform, but the loss of people or feeling like they didn't do enough and they should have done more and they could have saved more.” “Jump off that curve where you're declining and get on a curve where you're improving.” “When it's time to make a decision, as a leader, you have to make a decision.” ”A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” – Jackie Robinson Resources Mentioned: The Leadership Podcast | Sponsored by | Rafti Advisors. On episode twenty-three of Mindful Warrior Radio, I am joined by Suzi Landolphi, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience working with veterans. Most recently, Suzi worked as a Senior PATHH Guide at Boulder Crest Retreat (BCR) in Bluemont, Virginia, a privately funded retreat for combat veterans, their families, and first responders. Suzi is one of the co-creators of BCR's signature program: Progressive and Alternative Training for Healing Heroes (PATHH). PATHH is the nation's first curriculum-based retreat with eighteen months of follow-up support based on the science of Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). Suzi's understanding of and expertise in childhood trauma and it effects on adult development is a cornerstone of the success of the PATHH program. In addition to BCR, Suzi has consulted for The Wounded Warrior Project, Save A Warrior, Veterans 360, The EOD Warrior Foundation, Operation Mend, and Team Rubicon. She is also on the Advisory Board of Merging Vets and Players (MVP), an organization dedicated to connecting and supporting elite athletes and veterans. In 2007, Suzi founded BIG Heart Ranch and Farm (BHR) in Malibu, California she works with clients of all ages to form deep connections with animals to facilitate healing from the effects of trauma. While managing BHR, Suzi also developed an equine therapy model called Horse Inspired Growth and Healing (HIGH) which includes both ground and mounted activities to nurture healing through trauma and to support holistic wellness. In addition, Suzi was the first Clinical Director of Alo House Recovery Centers, a progressive strengths-based, dual-diagnosis treatment community with facilities in Malibu and Los Angeles. Alo and Suzi continue to support veterans and first responders by creating new treatment programs housed at a working horse ranch. Before becoming a licensed therapist, Suzi received a BA in Theater from Middlebury College and worked as a theater, video, and film producer/director. She hosted her own television and radio programs in Los Angeles and is a frequent guest on national talk shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show.Suzi and I talked about managing life transitions, the connection between self-confidence and self-value, how our childhood impacts every part of our adult lives, how to mitigate triggers and emotions, the role that animals–and horses, in particular–play in healing, the importance of trusting your spirit rather than your thoughts and feelings, and the power of sharing your spirit with others.Suzi talks about the power of self-value: “Confidence comes from value. If your value is about winning, if your value is about the uniform, if your value is about your title and the people you hang out with and then all of that is gone, then most of your value is what you do and not who you are.”Suzi reflects on the human spirit: “Spirit is the basis of our principles. It shouldn't be our thoughts. It shouldn't be our feelings. I may be the only therapist who says I don't give a shit about your thoughts, and I don't give a shit about your feelings. I care what you do! And spirit is ‘do.' It's what you do! It's how you walk the surface. It's what you say. It's who you are with. It's how you are with yourself and others. That is spirit.”To learn more about Mindful Warrior and Mindful Warrior Radio please follow us on Instagram @therealmindfulwarrior and check out our website at www.mindfulwarrior.com
Finding agency and his purpose is how he rolls. Dustin Belusack, U.S. Army National Guard Veteran and Merging Vets and Players Virtual Program Manager, is Suzi's guest today. "I'm a proud native of the burbs of Cleveland, Ohio, and a veteran of the Army National Guard. After being activated, I lost myself and my drive, and eventually, I lost everything, I took the time to reflect on my life and make the necessary changes to become the best version of myself. It hasn't been easy, but I'm determined to keep learning and growing every day. I'm excited to see what the future holds and am committed to making a positive impact in the world." ~ DustinDustin BioDustin served in the Army National Guard from 1999 to 2006. His motivation to join the military came from a desire to understand his father's service in Vietnam. Dustin served as a mechanized mortarman until 9/11, and then even though he was at school at the time, he was placed on active duty. In 2016, Dustin ended up in transitional housing while looking to change his life. He decided to start saying 'yes' to healthy changes.Dustin was then offered a job at a non-profit that helps stray animals, and when Covid hit, his team adjusted the mission to help low-income communities, increasing outreach. Because of a more robust need for systems, Dustin created a process of ordering, packaging, and delivering pet food to over 32,000 animals, which is still in use. Dustin first heard about MVP while living in veteran transitional housing and he decided to give MVP a try. Dustin loved the organization and was motivated by the team to keep showing up and hold himself accountable...and it changed his life forever. Suzi is joined today by Isaac Salvidar, US Marine Veteran and Program Manager at Merging Vets and Players Las Vegas Chapter. Isaac shares his journey of healing and his determination not to be his diagnosis. As a first generation American in his family Isaac began to pave his way to success through many diverse routes of achievement. As one of those routes Isaac joined the Marine Corps to solidify his toughness and satisfy a feeling of belonging, but this journey of growth came with a price. Listen in to Isaac's story and how he took the initiative to find his path of healing. Isaac's BioIsaac was in the ROTC and was the first vice president of his high school when he enlisted with the US Marines at 18 before graduation. He left for boot camp in September 2005, two days after his sister's wedding. His first duty station was at 29 Palms M.C.A.G.C.C. in the California desert for three and a half years with 1st Marines Division 2nd Battalion 7th Marines. He deployed to Iraq from January-August of 2007. During this time, he served as the Radio Operator for his squad. In the third year of his first enlistment in 2008, he deployed to Helmand Province Afghanistan. He was injured from I.E.D's. blasts resulting in a concussion, torn shoulder, fractures, inflamed bulging discs, and compressed nerves in his back. Upon returning from his 2nd deployment, he was placed on limited duty and was prescribed opioids for the pain leading to addiction. “I was numb to the world. I had gone from being athletic to someone with no emotion and a lot of anger, pain, and barely able to move without the pain meds. I only slept a few hours at night and was also self-medicating with alcohol.”While in Afghanistan he re-enlisted to become a Marksmanship Instructor at Camp Pendleton, in San Diego County and executed orders in 2009 for his new duty station. In 2012 he was medically separated from the Marines. Former Green Beret Nate Boyer returns this week to the podcast with a specific purpose: to discuss the film that he wrote, directed and starred in titled "MVP." Boyer co-founded his non-profit MVP (Merging Vets & Players) with Jay Glazer of FOX Sports to bring together combat veterans and former professional athletes as they both share a bond of the tough transition when the uniform comes off. The movie takes us through the story of how Merging Vets & Players got started and is based on factual events. The most poignant part of the film are the emotions that many vets are struggling with when it comes to mental health and PTSD. Boyer and his team really do a great job bringing those feelings to life and making them real for the audience. "MVP" is now available on most streaming platforms including Amazon Prime and Hulu. Nate Boyer has lived anything but an ordinary life. Primarily because he's a man who knows how to set goals and achieve them. Not just any goals either; we're talking big goals. In early 2005, after working as a volunteer at refugee camps in Africa, he came back to the US and joined the Army, becoming a Green Beret in 2006. After serving in combat as a Green Beret, he decided to work toward achieving another dream of his: playing professional football. An unlikely candidate, Nate made the University of Texas Longhorn football team as a walk-on safety. Following graduation, he then went on to join the Seattle Seahawks as a long snapper. Nate Boyer knows what it means to follow your dreams, even if that means swimming against the current. He knows what it means to rise up to a challenge and ultimately succeed. And now, he's using his own experiences to help other dreamers do the same! https://vetsandplayers.org/ Support the podcast by supporting our sponsors at www.hazardground.com/sponsors Shop Amazon! Jay Glazer is a sports reporter, experienced MMA fighter, conditioning expert, gym owner, author and now podcast host; on this episode he talks about his experience as a combat athlete, how he got started as a sports caster and his work with combat veterans who suffer from PTSD. Jay explains how living with depression has led him on a mission to help others who suffer from the disease as well as combat veterans who may be living with PTSD which has led him to starting MVP, Merging Vets and Players, an organization that brings retired NFL players together with combat veterans to build a sense of team and community that is often missing from post competitive or combat environments. It's all about how tough workouts and the willingness to be vulnerable can help those who may be struggling with tough issues on this episode of All About Fitness. This week in the studio a man who while attending college initially joined ROTC in order to help pay for his college. After graduating from college he was commissioned as a 2nd LT in the United States Army and was assigned to Ft. Hood. My guest left active duty after a few years but decided to continue to serve his country in the National Guard where he still serves today as the Commander of the Land Dominance Center at Ft. Stewart, GA. My guest was involved in two combat deployments to Baghdad where among his other awards he received two Bronze Stars. The interesting thing about this weeks is that he has made the transition from Military to Civilian Life 3 times throughout his career and this has given him some insight to be able to help Veterans through an organization called Merging Vets and Players who help men and women through mentoring and coaching to the highest levels of performance. My guest is also the host of the Hazard Ground podcast which spotlights veterans stories for the public to see and hear, but he also a full time sports broadcaster out of Atlanta, GA where he now resides. It is my pleasure to introduce Mark Zinno.

Coinciding with the Seahawks visit to Levi's stadium this Sunday in Week 2, we have a repeat HPP veteran guest in Nate Boyer. If you recall, Nate was our guest a year ago before the Niners played the Seahawks up in Seattle. Nate is a former Army Green Beret, who after his military career ended, came back to the states and decided to walk on with the University of Texas Football program. Despite never having played football before, he eventually earned the starting deep snapper's job. After Texas he thought the NFL was calling his name, and as an undrafted free agent earned a stint with the Seahawks. Following his football career, he went to Hollywood to get into acting and through that effort developed a relationship with Jay Glazer (of FOX NFL), and the two of them later founded what is now Merging Vets & Players. This story of the creation of MVP has now been brought to the big screen, and guess who is in the middle of all of that? Right!! Our friend Nater Boyer. Not only was Nate a co-founder of MVP, he went on to write, direct, and star in this newly released full length motion picture - “MVP – The Movie”. The premier for the movie took place this past week and simultaneously appeared in over 30 venues across the US, with one in each of the cities that are home to an NFL team. The Hollywood premier was held at the AMC Grove Theater, and I had the great pleasure of being able to attend that event in person. Our veteran focus portion of this week's show is a compilation of my interview on scene with Nate just before the premier showing of the movie, and then me working the Red Carpet with MVP Clinical Director Suzi Landolphi (who also has a brief role in the movie!!). This episode also includes interviews before and after the Premier, with special guests and MVP members in attendance. One special and very exclusive interview is with Nate's father Steven who shares some insights on his son's career. I know you will enjoy getting a feel of the vibe that night which was indeed electric. But even more than that, you hear from folks about what MVP means to them, how it has impacted them, and what they thought of the movie. As for the movie itself, it was amazing and very well done. I strongly encourage you to see it as it does a marvelous job capturing the difficulties, struggles, and obstacles veterans and former professional athletes face on giving up “the uniform” and trying to transition back into “normal” life. It has some feel good moments, but it is also a hard and honest look at these struggles, along with the reality of the loss of so many veterans by suicide and the effort to make sure no one is left behind, no one feels alone, and working to move the number of suicides to ZERO. George and I also sit down and look at the Niners' last game as well as upcoming opponents. We tackle some issues around recovery, diet/nutrition, and name the wine of the week. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did in putting it together!! Have a great week grounded in breath, mindfulness, kindness, and grace. All the best. On today's show, Pat, Darius Butler, AJ Hawk, and the boys chat about Pete Carroll's comments to the Seattle media after the game that raises a lot of questions about his relationship with Russell Wilson in the wake of the Seahawks' big win over the Broncos, Nathaniel Hackett's comments about his late game clock management, and they look at some of the best film from this past week, while beginning to look ahead to the Thursday Night Matchup. Joining the progrum to chat about his new movie MVP and how incredible of an experience it was is Green Beret, former Long Snapper for the Seattle Seahawks, co-owner of Merging Vets & Players, and now actor, Nate Boyer (1:28:52-1:54:43). Make sure you subscribe to youtube.com/thepatmcafeeshow to watch the show. We appreciate the hell out of all you. See you tomorrow, cheers.
Nate Boyer is a Green Beret, former college and professional football player, actor, and director of the new movie MVP. The film is executive produced by Sylvester Stallone. Its official synopsis explains, “[it] takes place on the streets of Hollywood and centers on the growing friendship between a struggling recently retired NFL player and a homeless veteran suffering from PTSD (played by Boyer). The movie reveals the common challenges faced by military veterans and professional athletes adjusting to a new life once the uniform comes off.” MVP stars athletes and actors including Randy Couture, Michael Strahan, Tom Arnold, Talia Jackson, and others. The film's release is accompanied by a fundraising campaign for Nate's nonprofit Merging Vets and Players from the GNC Live Well Foundation. Andi Ward joined the military after a year in college in an effort to turn her life around and escape a troubled childhood. She became a construction electrician with the US Navy Seabees. Less than a month after completing 'A' school, Andi was deployed to join her battalion NMCB 3 in Ramadi, Iraq. In 2009 Andi deployed to Djibouti, Africa, to assist with humanitarian missions in the region. She was part of Operation Natural Fire which brought together five African Nations for training exercises in Uganda. Andi had a rough transition out of the military, which led her to her current path as the Director of Training and Resources for the nonprofit Merging Vets and Players. MVP is a nonprofit that brings together Combat Veterans and Former Professional Athletes to assist with transition and give them a team again after the uniform comes off. https://vetsandplayers.org Support the podcast by supporting our sponsors at www.hazardground.com/sponsors Shop Amazon! When Denver Morris was just in 7th grade, his grandfather expressed his wish that Denver join the Marine and let them make a man out of him. Two months after turning 18, he started the process. Although he knew he would honor his grandfather's wish, Denver's path to the Marines was a bumpy one as he was often getting in trouble in high school. This carried over to his military service. After serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, he was more interested in partying than being given instructions. He received an Honorable Discharge, but the problems continued. Denver shares his story of identity struggles and forgiveness. Support the podcast by supporting our sponsors at www.hazardground.com/sponsors Shop Amazon!
