For this week's episode, the Multiamory crew is taking a much-needed break, and featuring episode 308 of Normalizing Non-Monogamy: Bru + Mark! Hosts Emma and Fin talk with Bru and Mark about their guests' relatively recent journey of opening up their long partnership. For Emma and Fin, life is all about seeking out adventure, embracing the chaos, and meeting amazing people along the way. They are in their mid thirties, met in seventh grade, and have been together since their freshman year of college. A year or so into their relationship it was obvious that exploring everything life had to offer was part of who they were as individuals, and as a team. They were very young at the time and neither had really experienced the world of dating, so they created a way to explore aspects of the dating world without ending their relationship, through non-monogamy. Fast forward about 11 years and they decided to start a weekly podcast called Normalizing Non-Monogamy in 2018. They absolutely love meeting new people and hearing their stories and through this podcast they get to interview people from all over the world who are exploring non-monogamy on their own terms. The hope is that if they can get enough of those stories out into the world that it will provide a resource for anyone who is considering non-monogamy. They also want to show that non-monogamy is more common than most people think and that it can be done in an ethical and consensual way. Overall, the mission is to inspire people to embrace their true selves so that, together, we can open minds and live authentically without shame.Find more about them and Normalizing Non-Monogamy at https://www.normalizingnonmonogamy.com/! JKS 55 The Misdiagnosis Drama of 2022Buried in the backyard. recorded over 2 years ago, 2 weeks before our trip to PCAP Palm Springs. If you hate cringy, raw, emotional podcasts, definitely skip this one.I don't cry in this one but there is a lot of processing. We didn't feel good about releasing earlier because we felt it too cringy for most listeners but,we were reminded of the importance of why we do what we do.Part 1We decided to get a second STI test done after not being able to get answers after a Dr appointment and were waiting to discuss results the following week. Then Dr wasn't able to see us IRL until a whole week after our phone diagnosis.Part 2Monday after the dr office test, we were told the diagnosis before our second test results by STDcheck.com came in and took steps to confirm diagnosis. Part 3While waiting to see the DR IRL friday, and after calling all our LS friends, the results from STDCheck came in NEGATIVE! When we saw the DR. she said the test she ran was misinterpreted & the sores she had were probably caused by something else but she didn't know what for sure.It turns out you had foliculitis and Myrsa most likely from a waxing appointmnt. We learned a lot from that experience. What new drama awaits as we prepare for another Swingcation? Stay tuned for the next episode. "Same Bat time. This week, Charna interviews Brett Chamberlin, the founder and executive director of OPEN, the Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Nonmonogamy. Brett opens by sharing his journey of transitioning from environmental activism to the advocacy for more awareness and legal rights for non-monogamists. This includes anyone who subscribes to relationship designs outside the norm of one man and one woman, including single people. He also discusses the cultural implications of nonmonogamy, the impact of societal norms, the progressing nonmonogamy movement, and the importance of community, consent, and cooperative living in practicing non-monogamy. When it comes to having a successful non-monogamous relationship, Brett emphasizes the relevance of developing effective communication skills, having a clear understanding of personal desires, and the establishment of healthier relationships. He calls for the questioning and challenging of the supremacy of monogamous relationships in society and how dismantling this norm will lead to a more inclusive, loving society. Charna ends the episode by sharing resources for people looking to explore the world of non-monogamy, as well as, an exercise designed to help you focus in on the characteristics and nuances you're looking for in a partner when choosing a potential mate. Episode 213: Emma and Fin Interview. Overall, the mission is to inspire people to embrace their true selves so that, together, we can open minds and live authentically without shame. Follow them on social media: https://www.instagram.com/nnmpodcast/ http://www.normalizingnonmonogamy.com/ If you get value out of the Loving Without Boundaries podcast, then consider becoming one of our patrons! Normalizing Non-Monogamy - Interviews in Polyamory and Swinging
Roderick is so full of energy and enthusiasm for life, and so is our conversation together! Roderick and his partner Jane have been together for about five years and decided about three years in to start exploring what it would mean to slowly open their relationship. For them, it's all about learning ways to improve their relationship and themselves, anything else is icing on the cake. One of the things we love about this conversation is how open and transparent Roderick is about how Autism, ADHD, and OCD have impacted his life and how finding non-monogamy was like a beacon of light for him. Finding a community where people can show up and be their authentic selves, remove the facade and filters, and communicate openly has been life changing for him. Another perk of Roderick's neurodivergence is that he is a creative genius... He's an award-winning filmmaker, artist, and writer. (Seriously, this time lapse of him painting is unbelievable...) On a related note... We recorded the video of this interview and it is going to be part of a documentary that Roderick is making called "Open: A Journey Through Love"... He has spent the past 6-8 months traveling around the country interviewing incredible people (including us) who are exploring non-monogamy in their own way. Please check out the short preview here and consider helping support the project through the Indiegogo campaign. Important note: Normalizing Non-Monogamy has not been, and to the best of our knowledge, will not be compensated in any way for our participation in this project nor will any of the funding from the Indiegogo campaign go to us. Non-monogamy is a big umbrella! polyamory isn't the only thing that falls under it. Often, folks can be a little Holier-than-thou (polier-than-thou?) about their nonmonogamy, implying that polyamory is more evolved than other kinds of consensual non-monogamy or being decidedly sex-negative when they learn that folks entered their nonmonogamous journey from opening to swinging or being "monogamish" instead of polyamorous. So on today's episode we're going to talk about the kind of middle spaces that many folks actually continue to exist in (eg, polyam people with ongoing relationships who also have casual encounters or attend sex parties, or swingers who play with the same people for many years and become exceptionally close), as well as what these communities can learn from one another. Our guests today are Emma and Fin of the Normalizing Non-Monogamy podcast, who interview hundreds of non-mono individuals to share the extremely broad variation in the realities of nonmonogamous folks' lives. They share their own story with us here. You can find their podcast on most podcast platforms and their site here: https://www.normalizingnonmonogamy.com/ https://www.normalizingnonmonogamy.com/community

Non-Monogamy: One Couples' Story Participant #1: You're listening to the Sex with Dr. Jess podcast, sex and relationship advice you can use tonight. Welcome to the sex with Dr. Jess Podcast. I'm co host Brandon. We're here with my lovely other half, Dr. Jess. Hey. Today we are talking about non monogamy with MN Finn, the host of Normalizing Non Monogamy. This is a podcast, and they've been exploring non monogamy themselves for over 15 years, personally together. And each week on their podcast, they interview different people who are exploring ethical non monogamy totally in their own individual ways. And their hope is that if they can get enough people to share those stories and get them out into the world, that it'll really provide a resource and community for anyone who is considering non monogamy, because it's not always an easy path, given the toxic monogamous culture in which we live. And overall, their mission is really just to inspire people to embrace their true selves so that together we can all open minds and live authentically without shame. No easy task. Thank you so much for being here. Ms. Fan, how are you doing today? Thank you so much for having us. We're really excited, and we're just doing great this morning. So let's start with the story of how you met and kind of how this relationship came to be. Yeah, sure. So we met yeah, as you just said, we met in 7th grade. We were friends throughout high school, middle school, and high school. And then we started dating in college. And from very early on, we started to have the conversation, probably about a year after we started dating, about opening our relationship and what that might mean and what that might look like. Ever wonder how social norms impacts our perspective in reading? In today's episode we will be discussing mononormativity and non-monogamy in literature. Mononormativity pervades art and media while the lack of representation in the stories we read somehow keeps the community as a whole closeted. Let us find out what we can do about it and how we can help the community thrive. Krista Varela Posell is a writer who leads a book club for Poly Pages reading texts fundamental to the non-monogamous community. At the beginning of the pandemic, she began Poly in Place, a community blog with her polycule, and since then has become passionate about increasing the visibility and representation of non-monogamy and polyamory in literature. She has been featured on podcasts such as Normalizing Non-Monogamy, Practicing Polyamory, and Polyamory Uncensored. Today's guest are Emma and Fin, the hosts of the Normalizing Non-Monogamy podcast. They met in 7th grade, have been together since their freshman year of college, and just a year into their adult relationship decided to become non-monogamous.
