Full Text of ReadingsTuesday of the Fourth Week of Easter Lectionary: 280The Saint of the day is Our Lady of FatimaThe Story of Our Lady of Fatima Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children–Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos–received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Mary asked the children to pray the rosary for world peace, for the end of World War I, for sinners, and for the conversion of Russia. Mary gave the children three secrets. Following the deaths of Francisco and Jacinta in 1919 and 1920 respectively, Lucia revealed the first secret in 1927. It concerned devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The second secret was a vision of hell. When Lucia grew up she became a Carmelite nun and died in 2005 at the age of 97. Pope John Paul II directed the Holy See's Secretary of State to reveal the third secret in 2000; it spoke of a “bishop in white” who was shot by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows into him. Many people linked this vision to the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square on May 13, 1981. The feast of Our Lady of Fatima was approved by the local bishop in 1930; it was added to the Church's worldwide calendar in 2002. Reflection The message of Fatima is simple: Pray. Unfortunately, some people—not Sister Lucia—have distorted these revelations, making them into an apocalyptic event for which they are now the only reliable interpreters. They have, for example, claimed that Mary's request that the world be consecrated to her has been ignored. Sister Lucia agreed that Pope John Paul II's public consecration in St. Peter's Square on March 25, 1984, fulfilled Mary's request. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith prepared a June 26, 2000, document explaining the “third secret.” Mary is perfectly honored when people generously imitate her response “Let it be done to me as you say” (Luke 1:38). Mary can never be seen as a rival to Jesus or to the Church's teaching authority, as exercised by the college of bishops united with the bishop of Rome. Click here for more on Our Lady! Our faith helps us believe in miracles, but do science and technology disprove them? To discuss, Father Dave welcomes back friend of the show Jesuit priest and president of the Magis Center, Father Robert Spitzer. His latest book is called, “Christ, Science, and Reason: What We Can Know About Jesus, Mary, and Miracles.”
Hi! Trapper Jack here. Happy birthday Mary! The mother of our Lord is about 2038 years old and doesn't look a day over 1873. How does she do it!? I have a very special devotion to the mother of Jesus, since all the signs indicate that she was the one to come after me. She is the one who turned me back to God some 25 years ago. September 8th is the traditional day that we celebrate Mary's birthday. It also was the day five years ago that I was asked to give a talk about Mary, on her birthday. One of the stories that I told was what had happened just two days before her special day. My wife, Elizabeth, and I were in Eucharistic adoration at our church. Sitting before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is not supposed to be a time to take a nap, but I did. During the snooze, I had a very special dream that was delivering a message to me. As you will hear in this episode, the dream inspired me to learn more about Mary, church history, the Bible, etc. The dream told me to strip away the ignorance that I had about all the above. Mary's message to me included the same message that she had delivered to all of us 2000 years ago at the wedding feast of Cana. 'Do whatever he tells you.' So, here is my birthday present to our Lady. It is a reminder of where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going. Enjoy the podcast! Hi! Trapper here. My conversation with Marie, who now lives in London, was eye-opening! She can probably thank her mom for all the incredible experiences that she has received. Marie's faith wavered until her mother's persistent encouragement brought her back to the church. Marie had never heard of our Lady of Fatima and yet dreamt about her and was given a message to share. Marie began reciting the rosary and had an overwhelming experience at 3 a.m. Marie also tells us about a powerful near-death experience and the profound impact it had on her life. There were billions of people all walking toward an incredible loving Light. Nothing has been the same since! She describes feeling immense happiness and peace in the presence of a loving voice that told her to go back and share God's love with the world. My favorite part of the entire interview was what I will call ‘the key.' All the doors in these experiences were opened with the key. The key is available to all of us. This fresh guest episode shares the same title as its guest's newest book. Most people have no idea about the satanic roots of the Communist ideology, which is no more powerful than it is today in the Communist Chinese system. Steven Mosher is the president of the Population Research Institute, and an expert in Chinese history and culture and was the first American social scientist allowed into the country back in 1979. He went in as a pro-choice atheist but witnessed the CCP one-child policy firsthand and later became a pro-life Catholic. In many ways, China has become the hub of the wheel of the world's communist ideology with many spokes leading out across the world with the poison of communist ideology and influence. Topics covered in this episode: The roots of communism in the mind of Karl Marx How Communism spread to China and from there to Southeast Asia The rise of Mao Zedong and his dark legacy as one of the most notorious leaders in human history How the current chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping is the ideological successor to Mao Zedong The meaning of the disastrous agreement between the Vatican under Francis and the CCP, brokered by the highest profile criminal prelate in American history, Ted McCarrick. On this weeks podcast we are continuing our small series on different Marian devotions and shrines which we are going to be covering for the month of May - as of course in Catholic tradition May is the month of Mary!So to get things off to a start we are delving back into the archive to an interview we did in May 2017 with Michael Keating to share the story of Our Lady of Fatima on what was the 100th anniversary year of the apparitions. The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima, Portugal between May 13 and October 13, 1917. Appearing to the children, the Blessed Virgin told them that She had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman and child living in our century. The message of Our Lady, though reported in much detail and still the object of much discussion, was very simple. She asked the children to be faithful to the rosary and to the devotion to her Immaculate Heart, and she asked for the consecration of Russia and the world to herself, warning of the dangers to the world of continued wars. She emphasised the need for penance and she taught the children several prayers. We have our regular run through the liturgical odds and ends for the coming week in part one and of course in part three we have our weekly reflection on the Sunday gospel which this week is Mark's account of the Ascension.

After Kristi Bentley experienced pregnancy loss with her first baby, she wondered how something so beautiful could be given and then taken away from her. Kristi now sees how the hand of God was at work in her life all those years ago. Kristi's loss led to a deep understanding of the precious gift of life. While mourning her first child she promised to be open to all the children God might bless her and her husband Patrick with. Seven children and countless prayers later, Kristi shares personal stories about Our Lady of Fatima, many Saints and the “kiss of God.” Be inspired by Kristi's openness to life even when others don't understand—Kristi's pure heart encourages us to notice all the ways we may experience the kiss of God, too.

Our Lady of Fatima Hello St. Mary Magdalene, Thank you for your prayers while I was away on pilgrimage, know that I was praying for you too. It was a highlight for me to visit the apparition site of Our Lady of Fatima and to be able to celebrate Mass at the actual site where the apparition took place. How cool then that the traveling pilgrim statue is now coming to St. Mary Magdalene this Saturday May 13th! She'll be available from 8am until 6pm with a talk given after the 8am Mass and at 4pm before the Vigil Mass. The rest of the day she'll be in our adoration chapel for veneration. God bless, Fr. In the excerpt from this weeks programme Michael Keating joins to us the story of the two latest saints to the churches calendar - St Francisco and St Jacinta Marto - the little Shepherds of Fatima. Michael takes us through their short life story and their reactions to the events of Fatima and afterwards up to their young deaths during the Spanish Influenza epidemic. He also tells us about the story of Lucas Baptista, who was 5 years old in 2013, when he fell from a window and suffered traumatic brain injuries that doctors said would leave him severely mentally disabled or in a vegetative state, if he even survived. Lucas’ recovery, after his parents prayed to Jacinta and Francisco, was one of the miracles attributed to the children as part of the canonization process.
On this weeks programme Michael Keating joins with us to reflect on the events at Fatima in Portugal 100 years ago this year with the apparition of Our Lady to the three Seers of Fatima. The Blessed Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima, Portugal between May 13 and October 13, 1917. Appearing to the children, the Blessed Virgin told them that she had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman and child living in our century.
Marta On The Move Podcast- Hosted by Marta Napoleone Mazzoni
Hello everyone! This post is long overdue! This summer I went on a solo trip to learn to sail in the Greek Islands. I had quite the adventure, and an interesting connection that was made during travel plans. In short, captain of the boat I was going to sail with had an emergency, and had to leave. This left me with no place to go 2 weeks before my trip! I was still holding out hope in trying to sail, so I reached out to a group online Girls Love Travel, and simply posted this- “Help! My Captain of the boat left, and I am now struggling to find a new boat to stay on. Anyone know anyone in Greece with a boat? Thanks!” A gal came forward in the comments section by the name of Jessie Stele. Let’s go back even farther now… *time warp* Marta On The Move grew up attending a very small school called Our Lady Of Fatima, a Catholic grade school that she attending for 8 years. To give you an idea how small it was, there were 5 gals in our 8th grade graduating class. Heading to public school the following year was quite a wake up call, anyways…. Jessie Stelewas one of 5 girls in my graduating class whom I have not seen, nor talked to in 25 years. She just happened to be sailing with her fiancee in the Greek Islands. Jessie saw my post, and commented “Hey Marta, It’s Jessie! I am in the Greek Islands on a boat! You are welcome to come stay with us anytime!” The chances of this… I don’t even know what the odds are, but I imagine them to be pretty slim. There are over 125K women in that group, and the fact that- A. She had wifi B. She had been online at all (remember she is on a boat) C. That she happened to see my post! They get pushed down very quickly. So I bet you are asking…. WELL WHAT HAPPENED?! Well, I’ll tell you what happened is that my original captain found me an ex Navy Captain from Australia, Captain Chris, who was sailing near Samos, so I flew to meet him and we crewed his boat “The Skylark” together down the Grecian Islands. It was one of the best times I have had in my life. After I returned from my trip, Jessie came back to Pittsburgh, and we reconnected finally after 25 years. I thought it was incredible how we found each other after all this time, and what better way to celebrate it, than having her on the show to give our thoughts on Greece, and why sailing is the only way to see this wonderful place. I always say that traveling let’s you connect with people all over the world of different cultures, and teaches you many things that stretch your mind. In this case, it brought us around full circle to where it all began as kids. I hope you enjoy our flashbacks to school, our stories of how we came to be, and our adventures in Greece! As always, “Keep it moving” Be sure to stay after our conversation to hear some very windy conversation that I recorded when Captain Chris and I were on the open water sailing in Greece. He will tell you how magical it is to be on a boat. Follow along on Marta’s adventures on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! Stories of Croatia will be up soon, I promise. Marta On The Move is sponsored by Levity Pgh! All Listeners get $5 off their floats with code “Marta” Hey! How do you like the new website layout?! I am always working on it, and would appreciate feedback! Cheers! Now to enjoy our 4th grade class photo. Can you pick us out of this bunch of crazies?
