In this week's show we explore the first thirteen lines from Liber ARARITA and explore each one's corresponding sephirah on the Tree of Life, discussing its corresponding planetary god from the Greek and Roman tradition along with a profile of the angelic archangel who rules over each station. This chapter corresponds to the “Good” side of the Tree of Life and explains it in fairly classical, straight-forward terms. On the free side of the show we make it all the way from Kether to Gevurah but discover that we've run out of time and resume our discussion of Tiphareth through Malkuth during the paid section of the show which includes a rousing discussion about Jacob and his battle with the angel we suspect to be Kamael. His research interests include intermediary beings, magic, alchemy and Paracelsianism, and the reception of these subjects in (early to late) modernity. He investigates these topics from an environmental perspective as well as through social categories like class. His doctoral project entails an environmental reception history of the concept of elemental beings from the sixteenth to the early twentieth century, through its manifestations in magic, alchemy, literature, mining and agriculture. In this episode, we explore the shifting terrain of magical contact—where spirits, nature, and power intersect. Drawing from his article “Encounters, Evocations and Elemental Beings”, we'll trace the philosophical and esoteric implications of two very different modes of engaging with the unseen: Paracelsus's reverent encounters with elemental beings, and Dr. Rudd's ritual evocations. Along the way, we'll unpack the role of monsters, the ethics of spiritual mediation, and the deeper question of whether esotericism must rest on a singular, perennial foundation—or whether it can evolve, diversify, and apply to new contexts like ecology, psychedelics, tulpas, and even extraterrestrial contact. This is a conversation about relational knowing, cultural consciousness, and the future of interdisciplinary esoteric research.I have one correction to mention beforehand; Tjalling made a mistake in his wording when he mentioned the text De Meteoris (which comes up in the discussion), in his haste to explain the temporal trajectory. In all texts before De Meteoris elemental beings have souls. They are soulless from De Meteoris onwards, but that text lacks the possibility for elemental beings to acquire souls through marriage. En el presente episodio tendremos de nuevo el placer de contar con Javier Fernández, del más que interesante canal “Surfeando el Kali Yuga” y quien por tercera vez afianza su participación en este humilde programa. Pacient jsem velmi špatný, upoutání na lůžko mi nesvědčilo, a tak se mě pomalu nebo spíš rychle zmocňoval pocit, že mi začne takříkajíc hrabat. Ale nakonec mě zachránily… Ano, knihy, přesněji řečeno knihy, které mi přítelkyně pilně nosila z domova.

I am back in harness after taking a three-month break. I feel energised and ready for "One more spin on the merry-go-round". (The title of a book written by Sean Duignan after Albert Reynolds became Taoiseach in 1992. Albert said to Sean, "Are you ready for one more spin on the merry-go-round?") What did I spend my summer doing? I read books for the pleasure of reading and the "white space" reading provides. Discovered new songs and singers, new poems, and as a result of the time spent relaxing, visiting bookshops, but also in pubs in Sligo and elsewhere, listening to music and engaging in conversation. Oh yes, I also played some golf! I visited "Liber", an independent bookshop on Sligo's Main Street, staffed by very knowledgeable and helpful book lovers, and came away with an armful of books. I have made a determined effort to read as many as possible. My favourite holiday read was "The Last Ditch", as I very much enjoy Eamonn Sweeney's writing style. You will also find him on the back of the sports supplement in the Sunday Independent. His publisher's brief for the book was to review the 2024 GAA hurling and football season. However, the colour in the book comes from his memories of his family and, most enjoyably, the stories about the pre- and post-match engagements with people on the stands. Also, the craic on trains and buses, travelling to and from the games. MY most enjoyable evening of the summer was in "Shoot the Crows" music pub in Sligo town, when we joined in with the group singing "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, a song that passed me by when first released, and is now a favourite on my playlist. A great chorus to sing along to loudly. I will share some more of the inspiration I received because of taking time out, and hopefully my musings in the coming months will also benefit you. A právě o různých podobách liberalismu ve střední Evropě, jeho kondici, nepochopení i ohrožení mluví v rozhovoru slovenský filosof Matej Cíbik, který působí na CEU ve Vídní, učí na Univerzitě Pardubice, a je autorem nové knihy Liberálové a ti druzí (Academia, 2025). Boken handlar om varför pojkar som grupp ofta halkar efter i skolan och vilka konsekvenser det får – både för individen och för samhället. År 2023 saknade 15 procent av pojkarna som gick ut nian gymnasiebehörighet, vilket motsvarar nästan var sjätte elev. Zimmerman beskriver hur sådana skolmisslyckanden kan leda till arbetslöshet, psykisk ohälsa och i värsta fall kriminalitet – och varför frågan därför är större än en ”pojkkris”: det är ett samhällsproblem.Boken diskuterar också hur jämställdhetsarbetet i skolan har formats av teorier om patriarkat och hegemonisk maskulinitet, och hur det leder till ett empatiunderskott för pojkar. Savienoto Valstu prezidents Donalds Tramps ir devis Krievijai laiku līdz piektdienai izlemt par kara apturēšanu Ukrainā, citādi solītas jaunas sankcijas, kas būs sāpīgas Maskavai. Krievijas uzsāktais karš īpaši izdevīgs ir bijis Indijai, kas pēdējo gadu laikā lēti iepirkusi daudz Krievijas naftas, tajā skaitā tirgojot to tālāk pasaulē dārgāk. Bet Lietuvā ir kritusi valdība pēc tam, kad no amata atkāpās premjerministrs. Aktualitātes analizē politologs Arnis Latišenko un Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes pasniedzējs, Austrumeiropas politikas pētījumu centra vadītājs Māris Cepurītis. Lietuvas valdība izrādījusies neilglaicīga Premjerministra Gintauta Palucka valdība stājās pie savu pienākumu pildīšanas 2024. gada decembrī pēc tam, kad viņa pārstāvētā Lietuvas Sociāldemokrātiskā partija bija guvusi spožus panākumus Seima vēlēšanās. Sociāldemokrāti nevēlējās veidot koalīciju ar kādu no samērā ilglaicīgajām partijām – Tēvzemes savienību jeb Kristīgajiem demokrātiem, Zemnieku un zaļo savienību vai Liberāļu savienību, kas visi tiek raksturoti kā drīzāk konservatīvas ievirzes spēki. Tā vietā par sociāldemokrātu koalīcijas partnerēm kļuva divas pēdējos gados dibinātas partijas: kreisi centriskā Demokrātu savienība „Par Lietuvu” ar kādreizējo premjerministru Sauļu Skverneli priekšgalā un nacionālistiskā un populistiskā „Nēmunas rītausma”, kuras dibinātājam un līderim Remigijum Žemaitaitim ir, cita starpā, antisemīta reputācija. Tomēr Palucka kabineta klupšanas akmens, kas novedis pie 4. augustā notikušās valdības demisijas, izrādījusies nevis koalīcijas politiskā struktūra vai kādas starppartiju sadarbības problēmas, bet gan pats premjers. Viss sākās ar it kā nevainīgu sociālo tīklu publikāciju, kurā premjerministrs redzams makšķerējot karpas kopā ar miljonāru Tautvīdu Baršti un Druskininku pilsētas mēru Ričardu Maļinausku. Tas kļuva par signālu mediju interesei par valdības galvas biznesa sakariem, atklājot vairākus aizdomīgus faktus. Paluckim daļēji piederošs uzņēmums saņēmis aizdevumu ar īpašiem noteikumiem no Lietuvas Nacionālās attīstības bankas, kad tā līdzīpašnieks jau atradies premjera amatā. Sāka uzpeldēt netīkamas detaļas no pagātnes, saistītas ar aizdomīgiem privatizācijas darījumiem un dienesta stāvokļa ļaunprātīgu izmantošanu, esot Viļņas pašvaldības administrācijas vadībā. Par vaiņagojumu visam kļuva atklājums, ka premjerministra svainei piederošs uzņēmums saņēmis vairāk nekā 170 tūkstošus Eiropas Savienības fondu līdzfinansējuma dažādu elektroiekārtu ražošanas projektam un šī projekta ietvaros pasūtījis bateriju sistēmas par 145 tūkstošiem jau minētajā Palucka uzņēmumā. Pēc preses publikācijām izmeklēšanu uzsāka arī Lietuvas Finanšu noziegumu izmeklēšanas dienests, Īpašās izmeklēšanas dienests un Augstākā amatpersonu ētikas komisija. Kad Viļņā sākās protesti, savienība „Par Lietuvu” piedraudēja pamest valdības koalīciju, un arī prezidents Gitans Nausēda pieprasīja no premjerministra pierādījumus par apsūdzību nepamatotību vai demisiju, Gintauts Palucks izvēlējās pēdējo. Tas nozīmēja arī valdības atkāpšanos. Tā kā jaunu valdību Seims, visdrīzāk, apstiprinās tikai septembrī, kad būs atgriezies no vasaras brīvdienām, esošais kabinets turpinās darbu pagaidu valdības statusā līdzšinējā finanšu ministra Rimanta Šadžus vadībā. Tramps arī pavicina kodolmilnu Krievijas varasvīru plātīšanās ar savu kodolarsenālu, dodot mājienus par tā iespējamu lietošanu, ja agresorvalsts nonāktu kritiskā situācijā, jau kļuvusi par ierastu lietu. Visbiežāk šo „kodolmilnas” vicināšanu Kremlis uztic kādreizējam prezidentam, šobrīd Valsts drošības padomes priekšsēža vietniekam Dmitrijam Medvedevam, uz kura izrunāšanos Rietumos, savukārt, jau ierasts īpaši nopietni nereaģēt. Tāpēc daudziem, domājams, bija pārsteigums, kad pēc kārtējiem apokalipses piesolījumiem no Medvedeva puses prezidents Tramps pagājušajā 1. augustā vienā no saviem sociālo tīklu kontiem ierakstīja: „Pamatojoties uz bijušā Krievijas prezidenta Dmitrija Medvedeva [..] ārkārtīgi provokatīvajiem paziņojumiem, esmu pavēlējis divām kodolzemūdenēm ieņemt pozīcijas atbilstošos reģionos, ja nu gadījumā aiz šiem muļķīgajiem un uzkūdošajiem paziņojumiem slēptos kas vairāk.” Kā norāda eksperti, aiz Baltā nama saimnieka paziņojuma diezin vai slēpjas konkrēta militāri stratēģiska akcija. Tik nav skaidrs, kas domāts ar „kodolzemūdenēm” – ar kodolieročiem aprīkotas zemūdenes vai zemūdenes ar kodolreaktora dzinēju, kādas ir visas šobrīd Savienoto Valstu Jūras spēku sastāvā esošās. Jau kopš aukstā kara laikiem gan Savienoto Valstu, gan Krievijas zemūdens flotes vienības, tai skaitā ar kodolieročiem uz klāja, regulāri uzturas pasaules okeānā, arī rajonos, no kuriem var dot triecienu pretējās puses teritorijai. Prezidenta paziņojums, tādējādi, pamatā uztverams kā deklaratīvs žests, kas iekļaujas pēdējā laikā pret Kremli vērstās daudz nīgrākās retorikas kontekstā. Kā zināms, sākotnēji agresorvalstij doto piecdesmit dienu termiņu miera procesa uzsākšanai Baltā nama saimnieks pagājušonedēļ pamatīgi saīsināja, un nu Krievijai jārēķinās ar iespējamām sankcijām jau šopiektdien 8. augustā. Tajā pat laikā šodien, 6. augustā, Maskavā ierodas Trampa īpašais vēstnieks Stīvs Vitkofs, kuram līdz šim bijusi Putinam īpaši izdabājoša sarunvedēja reputācija. Iepriekšējo reizi viņš Maskavā bija aprīlī, toreiz pauda optimismu par Putina vēlmi uzlabot attiecības ar Vašingtonu un, attiecīgi, gatavību vienoties par karadarbības pārtraukšanu. Šim optimismam izplēnot, Vitkofs uz laiku nozuda no Krievijas–Ukrainas miera sarunu skatuves, pārslēdzoties uz Tuvajiem austrumiem. Nu atliek vien minēt, ko sola viņa atgriešanās. Indija nepiekrīt grēkāža lomai 4. augustā intervijā telekanālam CNBC Donalds Tramps nāca klajā ar skarbiem piesolījumiem Indijai, zīmējot to kā teju galveno Putina kara mašīnas eļļotāju. Indija pērkot Krievijas naftu un Krievijas ieročus, un par to tiek solīts jau rīt ieviest vēl lielākus ievedmuitas tarifus – vēl papildus tiem 25%, kuri tika izsludināti jau pagājušonedēļ. Agrāk no Indijas puses izskanējuši pat signāli, ka tā varētu atteikties no lētās Krievijas jēlnaftas importa, taču realitātē to izdarīt ir ļoti grūti, katrā ziņā ātrā laikā. Krievijas fosilo energoresursu eksports uz Dienvidāzijas lielvalsti nav iesācies vakar un pat ne pirms trīs gadiem – tas notiek jau desmitgadēm ilgi un šobrīd veido apmēram trešdaļu no Indijas naftas importa, nodrošinot apmēram ceturto daļu no valsts vajadzībām. Attiecīgā energoresursu plūsma jau ierēķināta ekonomikas attīstības prognozēs. Indijas ekonomika, jau pašreiz ceturtā lielākā pasaulē, turpina augt, un arvien vairāk indiešu ģimeņu var atļauties savu auto vai motociklu. Tiek lēsts, ka ap 2030. gadu Indija apsteigs Ķīnu naftas produktu patēriņa ziņā. Strauja atteikšanās no Krievijas naftas nozīmētu smagu naftas produktu deficītu un, attiecīgi, cenu kāpumu ne tikai Indijā, bet arī starptautiskajā tirgū, kad milzīgā valsts steigtos meklēt citus piegādes avotus. Pie tam izvēle ir ierobežota, jo, līdzīgi kā Krievijas nafta, sankcionēts ir arī imports no Irānas un Venecuēlas, no kuru fosilā kurināmā Indija jau savulaik ir atteikusies. Ievērojot visu iepriekš teikto, nav brīnums, ka pirmdien Ņūdeli pauda: Savienoto Valstu vēršanās pret Indiju ir negodīga un neattaisnota. Rietumi tagad domājot sodīt indiešus, kamēr paši turpina iepirkt, piemēram, krievu minerālmēslus un citas ķimikālijas. Kā spriež eksperti, premjerministra Narendras Modi valdība visdrīzāk centīsies manevrēt, turpinot sarunas ar Vašingtonu un meklējot, ar ko pamazām aizvietot Krievijas jēlnaftu. Tajā pat laikā šodien Maskavā ieradies Indijas premjera nacionālās drošības padomnieks Adžits Dovals, lai apspriestu gan par turpmāko ekonomisko un drošības sadarbību, gan šogad paredzēto Vladimira Putina vizīti Indijā. Ukrainā pēc piecus gadus ilga darba ir nomainīta valdība. Sīrijas dienvidos, kur šobrīd pēc asiņainām sadursmēm starp reliģiskajām kopienām – druziem un beduīniem iestājies saspīlējuma pilns miers. Pēc vēlēšanām Japānā ietekmi zaudējusi gadu desmitiem valdījusī Liberāldemokrātiskā partija. Aktualitātes komentē atvaļināts vēstnieks Gints Jegermanis un Latvijas Ārpolitikas institūta pētnieks un Latvijas transatlantiskās organizācijas valdes loceklis Sandis Šrāders. Druzi – cīņa par vietu zem Sīrijas saules Druzu identitātes pamatā ir reliģija, kas 11.gadsimtā radusies uz islāma bāzes, taču lielākoties netiek uzskatīta par tā novirzienu, un vairuma musulmaņu ieskatā druzi ir ticības atkritēji. Vislielākā druzu kopiena, vairāk nekā pusmiljons, mitinās Sīrijā, apmēram ceturtdaļmiljons – Libānā, apmēram 119 000 – Izraēlā, t.sk. Izraēlas anektētajās Golānas augstienēs. Sīrijā druzi koncentrējas valsts dienvidu rajonos un veido vairākumu Suveidas provincē. Spriedze, kas tradicionāli valda starp druziem un musulmaņiem, kopš Asada režīma krišanas jau vairākkārt izlauzusies uz āru bruņotās sadursmēs. Līdz šim nopietnākās cīņas  uzliesmoja 13. jūlijā kā konflikts starp druziem un viņiem līdzās dzīvojošajām islāmticīgajām arābu beduīnu grupām. Viss sācies ar kāda druzu tirgotāja sagūstīšanu un aplaupīšanu, un, lai arī sagūstītais vēlāk atbrīvots, druzi par atbildi nolaupījuši vairākus beduīnus, un šie incidenti drīz pārauguši nopietnās sadursmēs ar mīnmetēju un bruņutehnikas izmantošanu. Par cīņu smagumpunktu kļuva Suveidas pilsēta, vairums no kuras 70 000 iedzīvotāju ir druzi. Valdības spēki karadarbības zonā, kā apgalvo druzi, faktiski atbalstījuši beduīnus un izrēķinājušies ar druzu iedzīvotājiem. 14. jūlijā viens no druzu garīgajiem līderiem šeihs Hikmats al-Hidžri vērsās ar lūgumu pēc starptautiska atbalsta viņa kopienai, un nākamajā dienā Izraēlas gaisa spēki veica uzlidojumus Sīrijas armijas un beduīnu pozīcijām pie Suveidas, kā arī aizsardzības ministrijas un ģenerālštāba ēkām Damaskā. Pēc šiem uzlidojumiem valdības spēki atvilkās no Suveidas rajona, taču uzbrukumu izvērsa beduīni, kuriem pienāca papildspēki no attālākiem rajoniem. 19. jūlijā beduīnu vienībām izdevās ielauzties pilsētā, notika ielu cīņas, taču vēlāk Suveidas apkārtnē atgriezās valdības vienības, un beduīni atkāpās. Valdība izsludināja uguns pārtraukšanu, ko apstiprināja arī druzu un beduīnu pārstāvji. Nākamajās dienās cīņas pierima, tiek ziņots, ka pamiera vienošanās visumā tiekot ievērota. No Suveidas ir evakuēti visi tur dzīvojošie beduīnu klanu locekļi, apmēram 1500 cilvēku, bet kopumā, tiek lēsts, ka šīs krīzes rezultātā savus mājokļus konflikta zonā pametuši apmēram 130 000 cilvēku, kā druzu, tā musulmaņu. Japānas valdošo saulriets Pagājušajā svētdienā, 20. jūlijā, Japānas pilsoņi pārvēlēja pusi no divsimt četrdesmit astoņiem parlamenta augšnama – Padomdevēju palātas – deputātiem. Rezultāti lielā mērā apstiprina tendenci, kura jau iezīmējās pagājušā gada oktobrī notikušajās apakšnama – Pārstāvju palātas – vēlēšanās, proti: Japānā jau septiņdesmit gadus teju nemainīgi valdošā Liberāli demokrātiskā partija piedzīvo lejupslīdi. Mazākuma valdības koalīcija, kuru liberāldemokrāti veido kopā ar savu pastāvīgo mazāko partneri, partiju „Kōmeitō” jeb Tīras politikas partiju, cerēja vismaz saglabāt vairākumu augšnamā, taču velti. Liberāldemokrāti zaudējuši apmēram sestdaļu vietu, lielākais ieguvējs ir partija „Sansitō” – ultrakonservatīvi labējie populisti. Labu rezultātu svētdienas vēlēšanās guvis arī vēl viens konservatīvi populistisks, tikai salīdzinoši mērenāks spēks – Demokrātiskā partija tautai. Par spīti nosaukumam Japānas liberāldemokrāti faktiski ieņem nacionālisma un konservatīvisma politikas nišu, un augšminētie konkurenti šai ziņā izrādījušies efektīgāki. Kā norāda komentētāji, premjerministrs Šigeru Išiba esot par maz nacionālistisks un par maz konservatīvs, salīdzinot ar savu priekšgājēju Šindzo Abi. Par labu valdības koalīcijai nenāk arī ekonomiskās problēmas, augsta inflācija, kas sevišķi pamanāmi skārusi japāņiem tik svarīgā rīsa cenas. Tagad tam visam vēl pievienojies Trampa faktors, apdraudot Japānas tirdzniecību ar Savienotajām Valstīm. Tūdaļ pēc neveiksmīgajām svētdienas vēlēšanām premjers Išiba gan pauda apņēmību turpināt valdības darbu, tomēr tiek atzīmēts, ka viņa trīs priekšgājēji, pēc tam kad bija zaudējuši vairākumu Padomdevēju palātā, atkāpušies no amata dažu mēnešu laikā.   Ukrainas iekšpolitikas padebešos ducina Pagājušā nedēļa nesa vērienīgas pārmaiņas Ukrainas valdībā. Ministru kabineta priekšgalā turpmāk būs nepilnus četrdesmit gadus vecā vadības speciāliste, līdzšinējā vicepremjere un ekonomikas ministre Jūlija Sviridenko. Savukārt līdzšinējais premjerministrs Deniss Šmihaļs turpmāk vadīs aizsardzības jomu. Viņš savā līdzšinējā amatā sabija vairāk nekā piecus gadus, kuru laikā, kā zināms, iekrita gan pandēmija, gan Krievijas pilna mēroga iebrukums. Kā atzīst teju visi komentētāji, Šmihaļs ir ticis galā ar savām funkcijām visai sekmīgi, kā viņa galveno veikumu atzīmējot Ukrainas militārās rūpniecības attīstību grūtajos kara apstākļos. Un lielum lielais vairums pauž skepsi par to, vai nule notikušās valdības pārbīdes šai ziņā dos kādu pamanāmu efektu. Kā paziņojis prezidents Zelenskis, līdztekus vēl straujākai pašmāju ieroču ražošanas izaugsmei pārveidotās valdības galvenie uzdevumi ir valsts ekonomiskā potenciāla atraisīšana, sociālā atbalsta programmas ieviešana, birokrātiskā aparāta sašaurināšana un, attiecīgi, līdzekļu ekonomija. Valdības „kapitālais remonts” paredz ne vien ministru portfeļu maiņu, bet arī ministriju pārstrukturēšanu. Un te nu kritiķi neskopojas ar skepsi. Piemēram, paredzēts Ekonomikas ministriju apvienot ar Lauksaimniecības un pārtikas apgādes ministriju un Vides aizsardzības un dabas resursu ministriju, izveidojot Ekonomikas, ekoloģijas un lauksaimniecības ministriju – visai grandiozu administratīvu struktūru. Rodas šaubas par to, cik daudz laika varētu prasīt attiecīgie saaugšanas procesi. Līdzšinējais aizsardzības ministrs Rustems Umerovs turpmāk būs Nacionālās drošības un aizsardzības padomes sekretārs, respektīvi – administratīvais vadītājs. Padome ir koordinējoša un konsultatīva struktūra prezidenta pakļautībā. Taču lai cik apšaubāmi dažam varbūt šķiet prezidenta Zelenska īstenotie kabineta pārkārtojumi, ne tie kļuva par iemeslu protestiem, kuros pirmoreiz kopš „lielā” kara sākuma vakar izgāja Kijivas, Ļvivas un citu Ukrainas pilsētu ļaudis. 22. jūlijā Ukrainas Augstākā Rada nobalsoja par izmaiņām likumdošanā, kas turpmāk pakļaus divas līdz šim neatkarīgas korupcijas apkarošanas institūcijas – Nacionālo antikorupcijas biroju un Specializēto antikorupcijas prokuratūru – valsts ģenerālprokuroram. Turpmāk šim amatvīram būs tiesības pārtraukt korupcijas apkarotāju uzsāktos kriminālprocesus attiecībā pret augstākajām valsts amatpersonām. Dienu iepriekš pār abu minēto pretkorupcijas iestāžu darbinieku galvām pārvēlās kratīšanu vilnis Ukrainas Drošības dienesta un Ģenerālprokuratūras izpildījumā. Tiek pausts, ka korupcijas apkarotāju rindās esot Krievijas ietekmes aģenti, esot aizturēts viens agresorvalsts spiegs. Vēl kādi biroja un specializētās prokuratūras darbinieki esot vainojami satiksmes negadījumu izraisīšanā,  bet neesot saukti pie atbildības. Uz visu šo kampaņu jau reaģējusi Eiropas Komisija tās oficiālā pārstāvja Gijoma Mersjē personā, norādot, ka no demokrātiskas pārvaldes progresa atkarīgi Eiropas Savienības lēmumi par finansiālo atbalstu, un Ukrainā šobrīd notiekošais komisijai radot bažas. Také u nás je stále častěji zpochybňována Evropská unie, Severoatlantická aliance, ale i Organizace spojených národů nebo Mezinárodní trestní soud. Naopak sílí sebevědomí všemožných suverenistů radících, abychom šli vlastní cestou.
