Ursula Giuliani (who will later become Sister Veronica Giuliani) was born on December 27, 1660, in Mercatello, a small village in the Province of the Marches in Italy. Her father was a well-respected member of society. Her mother was a deeply religious woman. She would die before she reached her 40th birthday, leaving Ursula and her four surviving siblings (two having died) to their father's care. But before she died, her mother would consecrate each of her five children to the precious Five Wounds of Our Lord Jesus. To the Wound in Our Lord's Side, she entrusted Ursula, who was all of seven years old. Without her understanding the full implication of her mother's bequest, nevertheless this was the beginning of Ursula's betrothal to Jesus' Heart, the very Heart Which bled on the Cross.Support the show
How does a just king, a loyal Defender of the Faith, turn on all that he vowed to protect, betraying Church and country? Was it the limitless power he had, the power to decide between life and death, that gave birth to him placing himself above his Pope and Church? Was it the example of other Henrys before him? This chapter is about one man's infamy and the powerful men and Martyrs God raised up to defend His Church. But before we speak of King Henry VIII, and the Martyrs who died rather than deny the Church, we want to touch briefly on some of his predecessors.Support the show

Pope Pius IX. He was elected Pope at one of the most crucial periods in the history of the Church, and remained at the helm of the ship of the Church longer than any Pope before or since, 32 years. He is responsible for many great things during his papacy, including, but not limited to the Dogma of Papal Infallibility, the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady, the short-lived Vatican I, and his ongoing battle against the elements who were out to destroy the Church, namely the beginnings of the New Age movement, and the liberals all over Europe, but especially Victor Emmanuel in Italy, who not only plotted to steal the papal lands, he ultimately forced our Pope to end his pontificate as a self-imposed prisoner inside the Vatican walls. These and many other attacks made against Pope Pius IX, lovingly called Pio Nonno, caused him much grief throughout his Papacy, but the Lord kept him in charge for for 32 years for a good reason; there was a job to be done! God knew Pius IX could get the job done!Browse our Popes CollectionSupport the show

It was exactly tendays after the disaster. Using great persistence, they began toremove huge pieces of marble that had once been the Altar. Itwas a devastating sight, almost as if a giant hand had smashedit, or the fires of hell had tried to consume it. Part of the Altarhad fallen, blocking the wall where the Tabernacle had been. The Friars and their helpers lifted the heavy piece of marble. There was the cubicle, where the Tabernacle had been, but theTabernacle had melted from the intense heat. All that was leftwere wood splinters and fragments of marble. Tears in theireyes, they reverently began to lift the fractured parts of the Lord'sformer palace, the Tabernacle. They gently brushed aside themound of grey soft ashes that had collected in the opening. Theycould not believe their eyes. There was something gleaming! As they peered deeper into the alcove where the Tabernacle hadbeen, Father Battista beheld the Holy Eucharist! There OurLord was, in the middle of a cave, once again, unharmed as inBethlehem. Only now, the swaddling cloth was the corporal, atop another linen cloth. The corporal was scorched and thesecond cloth burned more; but the Host rested intact under alight pall of ash.Excerpt from Miracles of the Eucharist book 2 by Bob and Penny LordSupport the show

Miracle of the Eucharist of DarocaExcerpt from Miracles of the Eucharist book 1 Daroca is one of the oldest cities in Spain. It is protected by walls on all sides, as well as over a hundred towers. The towers were used to position soldiers in times of battle. This city is located about 50 miles from Zaragoza. It was chosen by Our Lord Jesus, not to be the site of a Eucharistic Miracle, but to be the home of a Eucharistic Miracle. Against great odds and much opposition, the Lord chose this place, and would have His way. There was a great battle being waged at the end of 1238, and the beginning of 1239, between the Spanish and their dreaded invaders, the Moors. Valencia had already fallen to the Moslems, but a group of armies from the area of the Aragon had joined forces to take control of this kingdom back from their hated enemies.Miracles of the Eucharist including DarocaSupport the show

They built up this great fever, and smashed the Hosts with a vengeance. It was the scourging of Jesus once more, at the Pillar, the crowning with thorns, the mockery He and His Mother endured at Calvary. The final blow came when one of the heretics threw a Consecrated Host on the floor, and stomped on It with his boots. The bottom of the boot had spikes on the sole, to help grip the road when there was mud on the ground. The spikes punctured the Host in three places, and small drops of Blood emerged from the Consecrated Host. From Miracles of the Eucharist book 2 https://bobandpennylord.store/search?q=bt2Support the show
As the Feast of Pentecost was approaching, the sacristan of the Church, Dom Garnier, made a special repository for the Blessed Sacrament, for the time when Our Lord Jesus would be exposed to the Faithful. He did the same thing every year; but this year, he made it just a little more special. He set up a small Altar, in front of the choir rail, by placing a table on the Gospel side of the Church. He covered it with a table cloth on which he placed a Tabernacle. On the Altar, he placed a corporal with a silver Monstrance, whose base was attached to a sacred stone,6 upon it. He attached the small Altar to the choir rail, to provide strength and security. In back of the temporary Altar was a red cloth, which hung for the entire three days. In front of the table, attached to the table cloth was the Papal Bull from Pope Clement VIII, granting the indulgences, and a letter from the local bishop, Msgr. Rye, which authorized the publication of the indulgences. There was also a relic of the finger of St. Agatha.Based on Miracles of the Eucharist Book 2 https://eucharisticrevival.substack.com/Support the show

On our Journey of Faith to explore more shrines that show us proof of how the Lord shows His love for us through Miracles of the Eucharist, we go to the province of Emiglia Romagna, in the northeastern part of Italy, to Ferrara, a city known for its peace and quiet. There is an ancient section there, called the Borgo Vado near the Po river. They never knew if they would be flooded by a sudden rise in the river, or if their men would be caught in the current, and pulled underwater. The inhabitants have always had strong faith. Here, we found not only the Lord through the Miracle of the Precious Blood, but His Mother, Our Lady of the Precious Blood. We had been given this Miracle of the Eucharist, to research, by Father Giannini1 back in 1981, but it took till 1992 for us to go and discover this remarkable way, our Lord and His Mother chose to touch and reach us. This Miracle took place in 1171; Father Giannini told us of it in 1981, 810 years later. And now, 823 years after the Miracle, we are bringing it to you. Why now? As so many have asked, when we wrote our first book on the Miracles of the Eucharist.2 Stay with us, and let us try to discover the answer, together. It was 1992; we were on pilgrimage, and it was time to investigate the Miracle of Ferrara.Excerpt from Miracles of the Eucharist Book 2https://eucharisticrevival.substack.com/Support the show
Blessed Angela of Foligno (1248-1309)Thirteenth Century Mystic - Passionate Lover of Jesus Hello, family and welcome. We're Bob and Penny Lord and we have a very special Super Saint to share with you today, Blessed Angela Foligno.Within twenty five years after the world was to lose St. Francis of Assisi, the little, great Poverello, the Lord was to call forth a new light to brighten the world - our penitent Blessed Angela. In Foligno, a city a very short distance from Assisi, a cry would come forth in the night that would one day reach out and touch some of the greatest Saints in the world, and now us. The seed had been planted by the contradictory Poor One, Francis, and the Lord would not allow it to lie dormant in the ground. Like the Mustard Seed, a great strong tree would grow and having blossomed, bear great fruit. One might agree with such great Saints as Catherine of Siena and Catherine of Genoa in saying that Blessed Angela was one of the blossoms from that tree that would bring a new, delightful fragrance to the world by her love story with Jesus, so like that of St. Francis - her Spiritual Father.More about Blessed Angela of FolignoSupport the show
Alexandrina Maria da Costa (1904-1955)Alexandrina Maria da Costa was born on 30 March 1904 in Balasar, Portugal. She received a solid Christian education from her mother and her sister, Deolinda, and her lively, well-mannered nature made her likeable to everyone. Her unusual physical strength and stamina also enabled her to do long hours of heavy farm work in the fields, thus helping the family income. When she was 12, Alexandrina became sick with an infection and nearly died; the consequences of this infection would remain with her as she grew up and would become the "first sign" of what God was asking of her: to suffer as a "victim soul".Nourished only by the EucharistOn 27 March 1942, a new phase began for Alexandrina which would continue for 13 years and seven months until her death. She received no nourishment of any kind except the Holy Eucharist, at one point weighing as few as 33 kilos (approximately 73 pounds).Medical doctors remained baffled by this phenomenon and began to conduct various tests on Alexandrina, acting in a very cold and hostile way towards her. This increased her suffering and humiliation, but she remembered the words that Jesus himself spoke to her one day: "You will very rarely receive consolation... I want that while your heart is filled with suffering, on your lips there is a smile".Miracles of the Eucharist of PortugalSupport the show
“All power has been given to me in Heaven and on earth. Go therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you. And know that I will be with you always, until the end of time”. Matthew 28:19-20Family, we have a Treasure, of so great a magnitude it has kept our Church alive and strong and protected against millenniums of struggle with the devil who has been trying to destroy us since he tempted Jesus on the Mount of Temptation in Jericho. And how has He been able to keep that promise to us, that promise of being with us, living within our souls, giving us strength to stand up against the powers of hell? He is always with us in the Sacrament of His Body and Blood, the Eucharist. He gave us that gift freely while He was on earth. He was actually preparing us for the time when He would not be with us physically. At Capharnaum He taught us: “I Myself am the living bread, come down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; the bread I will give is My Flesh, for the life of the world. [1]”And then on Holy Thursday evening, in the upper room in Jeerusalem, He handed each of the Apostles bread, blessed and broken. “Then taking bread and giving thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying: ‘This is My Body to be given for you. Do this as a remembrance of Me.' He did the same with the cup after eating, saying as He did so: ‘This Cup is the New Covenant in My Blood which will be shed for you. Truly I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God.[2]”On Easter Sunday, after He had risen from the dead, and appeared to the Apostles in the Upper Room, Our Lord Jesus walked with two disciples who were returning home to Emmaus, thinking that Jesus was dead as was His movement. Jesus walked alongside of them, although they did not recognize Him as being Jesus. He spoke softly but firmly to them. He explained that Jesus had to do what He did to fulfill scripture. He quoted the scripture passages which affirmed what He was saying. When they arrived at Emmaus, He kept going, as if He were continuing on His journey. They pleaded with Him to stay with them. “Stay with us; it is nearly evening – the day is practically spent. So He went in to stay with them. When He had seated Himself with them to eat, He took bread, pronounced the blessing, then broke the bread and began to distribute it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; whereupon He vanished from their sight. They said to one another, ‘Were our hearts not burning inside us as He talked on the road explained the Scriptures to us?”[3] But they recognized Him in the breaking of the bread, the Eucharist. Our belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist has been the binding force and the cause of great struggle for Christians since the beginning. Down through the centuries, Saints and Holy People have shed their blood to defend the Eucharist. The first who comes to mind, a Saint of the early Church is St. Ignatius of Antioch, who as he was being dragged off to Rome to be sacrificed to wild lions in the Coliseum, wrote letters to St. Polycarp asking him to correct the errors being made with reference to the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Another famous story is that of the young Roman boy, St. Tarcisius, who volunteered to bring the BodSupport the show
Saint Juliana FalconieriThe name Falconieri is famous in church annals. The uncle of St. Juliana, St. Alexis Falconieri, is one of the Seven Founders of the Servite Order. He was very instrumental in the upbringing of St. Juliana, her father having died when she was very young. It was obvious to her mother and uncle that Juliana had a vocation from the time she was a very young child. She was not interested in material things, or grooming herself in order to find a husband. Her mother chided her about not taking her sewing spinning wheel lessons seriously. Juliana was not concerned. Finally at age 15, Juliana let it be known to all that she fully intended to give her life over to Our Lord in His service. Her mother Riguardata was not happy at all with this decision, but Juliana was extremely strong willed. She was trained by her uncle Alexis, and invested into the Servite Order by St. Philip Benizi in the Church of Annunziata in Florence, for which her parents had paid to have built. Juliana founded the order of Servites nuns, and became the first superior. She never asked her ladies to mortify themselves more than Juliana. As a matter of fact, no one was able to keep up with her zeal, or mortification. She hindered her health greatly. Because of this, at the end of her life, her stomach was so weakened that, on her death bed at age 70, she was not able to receive Our Lord Jesus in the Eucharist.THE MIRACLEThe Saint lay on her death bed. She grieved that she was not able to receive the Lord in the Eucharist. She was very loved by the community, and the priest in attendance at the end of her life. She still had a very strong will. She convinced the priest, Fr. James de Campo Reggio, to bring the Eucharist to her bedside, so that she could at least SEE Her Lord before she died. The priest gave in.When he brought the Blessed Sacrament into the room, she was obsessed with the desire to touch Him somehow. She pleaded with the priest to allow her to at least kiss the Host. He refused. She waited a little longer. It was very obvious to all that she was nearing death. She begged the priest to put a corporal on her chest, and just lay the Lord gently on her chest, near her heart. The priest, who found it very difficult to deny her anything, gave in. Fr. James arranged the Cloth on her chest, as she had requested. No sooner had the Host been placed there than It disappeared from sight, to the astonishment of the 18 people gathered in the room. Saint Juliana closed her eyes, smiling. She never opened them again. At the touch of Our Lord Jesus on her heart, her life had been fulfilled, and she went to Him.There was a hush in the room. They had all seen it, but no one could believe their eyes. All of the sisters in the room, and the priest, fell to their knees in reverence to the Miraculous Gift they had been given. They prayed for the safe journey of the soul of their Foundress to her heavenly reward. In due time, her body was prepared for the funeral. Blessed Joan Solderini, who assumed the saint's responsibility in the community, was the first to notice another miracle. They took St. Juliana's bedclothes off the body. On her left breast was the outline of the Crucified Christ, encircled by the Host. It was in the same position as the Host which had been placed on her chest, and had disappeared.Excerpt from Miracles of the Eucharist Book 1Support the show
Miracle of the Eucharist of OffidaThe Lord allows Himself to be drawn back to Lanciano again. This could very well be called THE EUCHARISTIC MIRACLE OF LANCIANO II, because what we call the Miracle of Offida actually happened in Lanciano in the year 1273. Why did Jesus pick Lanciano yet a Second Time? What was the need for Him to manifest Himself again in this town in another Miraculous way? To the inquisitive mind, the scientific mind, there has to be a logical explanation for a phenomena such as this. It has to be broken down into an understandable equation. In my mind, it conjures up enormous excitement. We don't know what the Lord's plan is, what His thinking is.More Miracles of the Eucharist https://bobandpennylord.store/products/miracles-of-the-eucharist-dvd?_pos=1&_sid=8e16f1bcc&_ss=rSupport the show
She was born with a crippled and paralyzed right arm, and a disease commonly called in those days, “Scrofula”, which is a form of tuberculosis which affects the neck. In her case, it also made her neck and cheeks malformed, and not at all pleasant to look at. At times, she suffered from swelling and open, pussy sores. No one knew for sure who her parents were. Laurent Cousin may have been her father, but that was never determined for sure. Pope Pius V was beatified one hundred years to the day after his death, on May 1, 1672, and was subsequently canonized forty years later on May 22, 1712. History has told the story of this strong man, totally committed to his God, his Church, his religious order and his children, the people of God. He has been found to be a powerful soldier of the Counter-Reformation. He did what he did to stem the tide of Protestantism in the only way he knew how. And the Church has honored and rewarded him by raising him to the Communion of Saints. No greater reward can be given to a man of God. We thank You, Lord Jesus, for giving us this great Defender of the Faith at a time when we needed him desperately. Lord, we think You've given us a Pope Saint Pius V today in Pope John Paul II. There is a time for Mercy and a time for Justice. Expelling Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden was an act of God's Justice. But even then, as the Angel was blocking the way to the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden,1 and ushering our first parents out into the cold world, God was showing His Mercy to us through His promise of the Messiah, the Redeemer. God has always lived up to His Word. Throughout Salvation history, we have been beneficiaries of God's Mercy. And very few times has He let loose His Justice. Sodom and Gomorrah was God's Justice. Noah and the Ark was God's Justice, but also mingled with God's Mercy. The miracle of Moses and the Jews crossing the Red Sea was God's Mercy, coupled with God's Justice on the Pharaoh's charioteers. When finally we are in the last days, with possibly the end of the world at hand, and we are about to face the Last Judgment, at that time the God of Mercy will give way to the God of Justice.More about Divine MercySupport the show (https://bobandpennylord.store/pages/about-us)

Visions of Saint Catherine of SienaGlimpses HeavenIn each century, when the Church has been in need, the Lord has raised up powerful men and women to save her. Catherine was one of those powerful women, a light in the darkness of the Fourteenth Century. She had been chosen by her Lord and Savior to be His bride. And then, when He believed she was ready, He commissioned her to save His Church. She had lived for the Church and she died for the Church, one of those "Dry Martyrs" (Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen used this expression to describe those who do not shed their blood for Mother Church, but "who suffer over a period of years pain that far exceeds that of the Wet Martyrs.") we so often speak of in our books. When he entered Ars, there were four dance halls in the town, but not enough room or desire for one church.
