Send us a textA scarred face, a steadfast gaze, and a nation that refused to bow—this is the living story of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa. We travel from the mist of legend to the grit of history, tracing how a single icon at Jasna Gora became a fortress of faith and a compass for Poland's identity. You'll hear how the 1655 siege transformed a monastery into a rallying cry, why a king vowed Mary as Queen of Poland, and how coronations, crowns, and countless pilgrim offerings turned devotion into a public vow that survived partitions, world wars, and communist pressure.Along the way, we unpack the icon's arresting symbolism: Mary's hand pointing to Christ, the Hodegetria pose that centers the way forward; the two slashes on her cheek that restorers could not erase; and the darkened hue that countless candles and centuries deepened into a sign of universal motherhood. We then step into the twentieth century, where clandestine prayers bloomed into the Solidarity movement, workers wore the Black Madonna close to their hearts, and a young Karol Wojtyla—later Saint John Paul II—returned again and again to entrust his homeland and papacy to her care. This is a pilgrimage of memory and meaning: footsteps on hot roads, whispered rosaries under watchful eyes, tears of gratitude before a mother who stands with her children. Send us a textIn the rolling hills of central Portugal, a tiny village named Fatima became the epicenter of one of the most profound and enduring mysteries of the Catholic faith. It was here, in 1917, that three young shepherd children—Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto—claimed to have witnessed a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary, later venerated as Our Lady of Fatima. These encounters, shrouded in both celestial wonder and earthly scrutiny, would go on to captivate millions, shaping Marian devotion and leaving an indelible mark on the 20th century. For believers, the messages delivered at Fatima are not just historical curiosities but urgent calls to prayer, penance, and peace—messages that resonate as powerfully today as they did over a century ago.At Journeys of Faith, we are committed to bringing the transformative power of these sacred moments to life. Founded in 1980 by Bob and Penny Lord, our ministry has spent decades guiding the faithful on pilgrimages to holy sites like Fatima, producing faith-centered resources, and sharing the stories of saints and miracles through books, multimedia, and retreats. Our mission is to make the mysteries of the Catholic faith—such as the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima—accessible for education, inspiration, and spiritual growth. Whether you've walked the hallowed grounds of the Sanctuary of Fatima or are encountering this story for the first time, we invite you to journey with us into the heart of this divine encounter, to uncover its historical roots, its spiritual significance, and the enduring call it places on our lives. Let's step back to that fateful spring of 1917, when the world was at war, and a heavenly vision offered hope to a weary humanity.Historical Context of Portugal in 1917Dive into the tumultuous backdrop of Portugal in 1917, and you'll find a nation grappling with the aftershocks of political upheaval and the grinding weight of global conflict. Just seven years prior, the country had overthrown its monarchy in the 1910 Revolution, ushering in the First Republic—a regime marked by instability, anticlerical sentiment, and a fierce push for secularization. The Catholic Church, once a bedrock of Portuguese society, found itself under siege, with religious orders banned, church properties confiscated, and clergy marginalized. For the faithful, especially in rural areas like Fatima, this was a time of quiet resistance, where devotion to Our Lady and the traditions of the Church became a refuge from a world seemingly intent on erasing them.Layer on top of that the shadow of World War I. Though Portugal had joined the Allies in 1916, the war's toll was felt deeply—soldiers sent to the trenches of Europe, families fractured, and a pervasive sense of uncertainty gripping the nation. Economic hardship bit hard, especially in the countryside, where subsistence farming was the norm, and the specter of loss loomed large. It's no coincidence that the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, reported by three shepherd children in this unassuming village, struck a chord so profound. In a time of chaos, both national and global, the message of peace, prayer, and penance delivered by the Virgin Mary offered a lifeline—a divine promise that transcended the turmoil of the era. This was Portugal in 1917: a land caught between its past and an uncertain future, where faith became both a shield and a beacon.Link to the Rest of the ArticleOur Lady of Fatima Store Items CollectionOpen by Steve Bailey Support the show

Send us a textA quiet yes can reorder a life. We explore how the imitation of Mary moved from early Church whispers to a lived roadmap for modern believers, weaving history, Scripture, and a practical daily rhythm that fits between coffee and carpool. Along the way, we sit with Thomas à Kempis's Marian spirituality, unpack the four-part arc of the Imitation of Mary, and reflect on why the Annunciation, Cana, and the Cross define real discipleship: honest questions, steady trust, generous intercession, and fidelity when everything shakes. We start with the roots—Ambrose, Augustine, and a devotion that grew through monastic practice and lay hunger for something tangible. Then we trace how apparitions, the Rosary, and accessible guides turned admiration into apprenticeship. Thomas's approach keeps Mary close: not a distant ideal, but a companion who teaches humility in ambition, patience in suffering, and focus when prayer is dry. The four-book structure becomes a path: virtues that ground us, sorrows that join us to Christ, intercession that deepens prayer, and a heavenly horizon that strengthens courage for daily faith. You'll also get a simple five-minute routine: choose one short line, talk to Mary honestly, carry a single word into your day, and, when possible, pair it with a decade of the Rosary. It's small, repeatable, and surprisingly steadying. If you're curious about authorship, dates, or how this devotion relates to The Imitation of Christ, we address those questions too, keeping the focus on how to live the insights now.If this conversation helps you take one concrete step toward a more grounded prayer life, share it with a friend who needs hope, subscribe for more thoughtful journeys, and leave a review so others can find it.Click here for rest of this postLink to Imitation of Mary BookOpen by Steve Bailey Support the show

Send us a textIn a world that often feels like it's spinning out of control, where anxiety grips us with an iron fist over uncertainties in our personal lives, careers, and even our faith, there exists a quiet, powerful tool rooted in centuries of Catholic tradition. It's called the Surrender Novena—a nine-day prayer journey that invites us to release our burdens, to let go of the need to control every outcome, and to place our trust entirely in God's hands. For many, it's not just a devotion; it's a lifeline, a way to find peace when the storms of life threaten to capsize our fragile boats. At Journeys of Faith, we've spent over four decades guiding Catholics through transformative spiritual experiences, from pilgrimages to sacred shrines to the deep dive into the lives of saints and Eucharistic miracles. Established in 1980 by Bob and Penny Lord, our mission has always been to illuminate the path to a deeper relationship with Christ through authoritative teaching and personal encounters with the divine. The Surrender Novena fits perfectly into this mission, offering a practice that doesn't just ask for prayers to be answered—it demands a radical act of trust, a surrender that can reshape how we face life's challenges.I've seen firsthand, through the stories shared by our community and the countless pilgrims we've walked with, how this novena can crack open hearts hardened by worry. It's not a magic spell or a quick fix; it's a disciplined, soul-baring process that echoes the struggles and triumphs of the saints we so often turn to for inspiration. Whether you're a lifelong Catholic or someone grappling with doubts, the Surrender Novena offers a framework to confront anxiety head-on, not by fighting it with sheer willpower, but by handing it over to a higher power. Let's explore how this devotion, championed by figures like Servant of God Don Dolindo Ruotolo, can become your own weapon against the chaos of modern life, drawing you closer to the peace that only faith can provide.Link to Rest of ArticleLink to Surrender Novena CollectionOpen by Steve Bailey Support the show

Send us a textSaint Carlo Acutis. One Heart One Mind Vision. In a world increasingly tethered to the digital realm, where algorithms shape our thoughts and screens dictate our attention, there emerges a figure who bridges the gap between the sacred and the silicon—Saint Carlo Acutis. This teenage saint, often dubbed the "patron of the internet," didn't just live a life of profound devotion; he harnessed the tools of modernity to spread the Gospel with a fervor that feels almost revolutionary, even today. At Journeys of Faith (Bob and Penny Lord Store), we find ourselves captivated by his story, not just as a testament to youthful holiness, but as a blueprint for evangelization in an age of endless scrolling.Carlo Acutis, who passed away at just 15 in 2006, was a tech-savvy kid with a heart ablaze for Christ. He built websites to catalog Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions, turning the internet into a cathedral of faith long before most of us understood the power of a URL. His mission was clear: to reach souls wherever they were, even in the uncharted corners of cyberspace. For us at Journeys of Faith, founded by Bob and Penny Lord in 1980 with a mission to evangelize through multimedia and pilgrimages, Carlo's story resonates deeply. Our motto, One Heart, One Mind, One Spirit, With One Vision!, echoes the unity and purpose that Carlo embodied—a vision of drawing all hearts to the Eucharist, the Source and Summit of our faith. As devout Catholics seeking spiritual growth, we are called to look at saints not just as historical figures, but as companions on our journey. Carlo Acutis, canonized in 2020, is a companion for our digital age, showing us that holiness isn't confined to ancient catacombs or medieval monasteries. It can thrive in the glow of a laptop screen. Through our ministry at Journeys of Faith, where we've spent decades producing books, videos, and resources on Catholic saints and holy sites, we see Carlo as a beacon—a reminder that the tools of today can serve the timeless truths of the Church. Send us a textApparitions at Laus, France: A Hidden Gem of Marian DevotionIn the rugged, serene landscapes of the French Alps, nestled far from the bustling pilgrim trails of Lourdes or Fatima, lies a lesser-known sanctuary of profound spiritual significance: Laus, France. Here, the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Laus, revealed herself to a humble shepherdess named Benoîte Rencurel over a span of five decades in the 17th and 18th centuries. This sacred site, often overlooked in the grand tapestry of Marian apparitions, holds a treasure trove of divine messages centered on reconciliation, prayer, and the healing power of God's mercy. For those of us at Journeys of Faith, sharing the story of Laus is not just a recounting of history—it's an invitation to delve deeper into the mysteries of faith, to walk where the Mother of God once appeared, and to let her gentle guidance transform our hearts. The apparitions at Laus, approved by the Catholic Church in 2008 after centuries of quiet devotion, stand as a testament to the enduring presence of Mary as a mother and intercessor. Unlike the dramatic, widely publicized events of other Marian sites, the encounters at Laus unfolded with an intimate, almost hidden grace—a slow burn of spiritual awakening that mirrored the personal rediscovery of faith that ignited the mission of our founders, Bob and Penny Lord, back in 1980. Their journey, born from tragedy and renewed through pilgrimage, mirrors the quiet perseverance of Benoîte, who faced skepticism and hardship yet remained steadfast in her mission to spread Our Lady's call to repentance and prayer. Through Journeys of Faith, we aim to uncover these hidden stories of sanctity, bringing Catholics and Christians alike closer to the miracles and messages that shape our belief. As we explore the apparitions of Our Lady of Laus, France, prepare to be inspired by a narrative of divine patience and human fidelity. This is not merely a historical account but a living call to evangelization, urging us to seek reconciliation and to embrace the Blessed Virgin's maternal care. Whether you're a devout pilgrim, a parish educator, or simply a soul yearning for a deeper connection to the divine, the story of Laus offers a path to spiritual renewal. Join us on this journey, as we uncover the sacred echoes of Mary's voice in the mountains of France, and let Journeys of Faith guide you to a place where heaven touched earth.Life of Visionary Benoîte RencurelIn the rugged, windswept valleys of 17th-century France, where faith was both a shield and a lifeline, a humble shepherdess named Benoîte Rencurel emerged as an unlikely vessel of divine grace. Born in 1647 in Saint-Étienne-le-Laus, a remote village in the Alps, Benoîte's early life was marked by grinding poverty and personal loss. Her father died when she was just seven, leaving her family in dire straits, yet even as a child, she carried a quiet, unshakable piety. She spent long hours tending sheep, her only companions the vast silence of the mountains and her whispered prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary.Click for more infoOpen by Steve Bailey Support the show

Send us a textPray the Rosary as a FamilyIn the quiet moments of life, when the chaos of the day fades and the heart seeks solace, there's a timeless practice that has bound Catholic families together for centuries: praying the Rosary. It's not just a string of beads or a recitation of prayers; it's a journey—a pilgrimage of the soul that invites every member of the family, from the youngest to the oldest, to walk hand-in-hand with Mary, the Mother of God, through the mysteries of Christ's life. At Journeys of Faith, we've spent over four decades guiding Catholics deeper into their faith through pilgrimages, books, and media, and we've seen firsthand how this simple, profound devotion can transform a household into a sanctuary of grace.Picture this: a living room lit by the soft glow of a candle, children fidgeting but curious, parents leading with a gentle cadence, and grandparents joining in with voices weathered by years of faith. This isn't a scene from a bygone era—it's a living tradition that's as relevant today as it was when the Rosary first emerged as a spiritual lifeline. Founded by Bob and Penny Lord in 1980, Journeys of Faith has always been about rediscovering the treasures of our Catholic heritage, from Eucharistic miracles to Marian spirituality. And in a world that often pulls families apart, praying the Rosary together offers a sacred space to reconnect, to reflect, and to grow in faith as one. Let's dive into why this devotion matters now more than ever, and how your family can embark on this spiritual journey with the same awe and wonder that has inspired pilgrims for generations.Setting a Sacred Time and SpaceLet's be real—life is chaotic. Between the school runs, the endless emails, and the laundry that somehow multiplies overnight, carving out time for family prayer can feel like a quest straight out of a fantasy novel. But here's the thing: praying the Rosary as a family isn't just another task to check off. It's a sacred pause, a moment to step away from the grind and into something eternal. To make it work, you've got to be intentional about both the when and the where.Start with timing. Pick a slot that aligns with your family's rhythm—maybe right after dinner when everyone's still gathered, or before bedtime when the world finally quiets down. Consistency is key; it's less about the perfect hour and more about the habit. Even if it's just 15 minutes to start, that shared commitment builds a spiritual muscle. If someone's missing—say, a teen has practice—don't scrap the plan. Pray anyway, and let them know they're part of it in spirit. Now, the space. You don't need a cathedral in your living room, but you do need a spot that signals, “This is different.” Clear a corner of clutter, light a candle, and set up a small altar with a crucifix or a statue of Our Lady. It's not about aesthetics; it's about focus. That flickering flame or familiar image can pull even the most distracted mind back to prayer. If you've got little ones, let them help set it up—they'll feel ownership over this holy ground. This isn't just logistics; it's about crafting a refuge. In a world that's always demanding more, a sacred time and space for the Rosary becomes your family's quiet rebellion—a stand for faith over frenzy. Keep it simple, keep it real, and watch how even the messiest of days can be redeemed by those beads slipping through your fingers together. Thanks for supporting Journeys of Faith. It's the Rosary, a prayer that isn't just a string of beads or a rote recitation, but a profound journey through the lives of Jesus and Mary. Here at Journeys of Faith, we've spent over four decades diving deep into the mysteries of our Catholic faith, from the awe-inspiring Eucharistic miracles to the tender intercession of the Blessed Virgin. And let me tell you, praying the Rosary has been a game-changer, not just for us, but for countless souls we've met along the way.Picture this: it's 1980, and Bob and Penny Lord, the founders of Journeys of Faith, are standing before the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano in Italy. Their lives are forever altered by this tangible proof of Christ's presence, and they're ignited with a mission to share the treasures of our faith—through books, television programs on EWTN, and pilgrimages to sacred sites. But amid all these grand endeavors, one simple practice kept them grounded: praying the Rosary. It became their compass, guiding them through the joys and sorrows of life, just as it can for you. This isn't just a prayer; it's a meditation on the very heart of the Gospel, a way to walk with Mary as she leads us closer to her Son.I've seen it myself—on retreats at our Holy Family Mission in Arkansas, or during quiet moments with fellow pilgrims at Marian shrines—how the Rosary transforms. It's not about perfection; it's about showing up, bead by bead, mystery by mystery. Whether you're a lifelong Catholic or someone just dipping your toes into the waters of faith, the Rosary is an invitation to slow down, to reflect, and to let the lives of Jesus and Mary speak to your own. So, join us on this journey. Let's explore how to pray the Rosary, why it matters, and how it can become a source of strength and peace in your life. At Journeys of Faith, we're not just about teaching the faith—we're about living it with you, one prayer at a time. The Rosary as a Scriptural Walk Through the GospelsLet's dive into the heart of the Rosary, where every bead becomes a stepping stone through the life of Christ and His Blessed Mother. If you've ever felt like the Gospels are a distant text, something to be read but not lived, praying the Rosary flips that script. It's not just a repetitive prayer; it's a narrative journey, a way to walk the dusty roads of Galilee, stand at the foot of the Cross, and witness the empty tomb—all through the lens of Mary's eyes. Each set of mysteries—Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious—unpacks a chapter of salvation history. Take the Joyful Mysteries, for instance. You're not just reciting the Annunciation; you're there with Mary when the angel Gabriel drops the bombshell that she'll bear the Son of God. You feel the weight of her “yes,” the trust in a plan she couldn't fully grasp. Move to the Visitation, and you're trekking with her to Elizabeth, pondering how two women, pregnant with the impossible, find strength in each other's faith. Every Hail Mary is a brushstroke painting these scenes in your mind, grounding the abstract in the deeply personal. Thanks for supporting Journeys of Faith Be Sure to Click the link in the descriptionBrowse our Rosary CollectionOpen by Steve Bailey Support the show

Catholic Saints for ChildrenLink to full DescriptionIn a world often cluttered with fleeting distractions and shallow heroes, there's a timeless wellspring of inspiration waiting to be tapped—stories of the Catholic saints. These aren't just dusty tales from ancient history; they're vibrant, gritty, and profoundly human accounts of courage, sacrifice, and unshakable faith. At Journeys of Faith, we believe these stories hold a special power for children, offering them role models who embody the very best of what it means to live a life devoted to God. Since our founding in 1980 by Bob and Penny Lord, we've been committed to bringing the richness of Catholic tradition to life through educational resources, pilgrimages, and multimedia. And today, we're diving into the lives of saints who can ignite a spark of wonder and devotion in the youngest members of our faith community.Children need heroes they can look up to—figures who show them that holiness isn't reserved for the distant or the perfect, but is achievable through small, faithful choices. The saints, with their diverse backgrounds and incredible journeys, offer exactly that. From the fearless bravery of St. Joan of Arc to the quiet compassion of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, these holy men and women provide lessons that resonate across generations. As a ministry rooted in deepening faith through the witness of miracles, saints, and sacred sites, Journeys of Faith is passionate about sharing these narratives. Based at Holy Family Mission in Arkansas, we've spent over four decades crafting trusted resources—books, videos, and digital content—that make Catholic teachings accessible and inspiring. So, let's embark on this journey together, uncovering the lives of Catholic saints for children, and planting seeds of faith that can grow for a lifetime.Who Are the Saints and Why Do They Matter for Kids.Let's cut through the mystique and get to the heart of it: saints aren't just dusty figures in stained glass windows or names on a calendar. They're real people who lived, struggled, and triumphed through faith, often against odds that would make even the toughest of us flinch. Think of them as the ultimate underdog stories—except their victories weren't scored on a battlefield or a sports arena, but in the quiet, gritty arena of the soul. For kids, saints aren't just history lessons; they're blueprints for courage, kindness, and unshakable trust in God.Take Saint Joan of Arc, for instance. A teenage girl in 15th-century France, she heard voices—divine ones, she believed—urging her to lead an army. Most of us would've written that off as a fever dream, but Joan strapped on armor and rode into battle, turning the tide of a war. She was just 19 when she was martyred, yet her story screams resilience. For a child, Joan isn't some far-off legend; she's proof that even the youngest among us can answer a higher calling, no matter how wild it seems.ThanksCatholic Saints for ChildrenLink to Full articleBrowse Childrens Corner Collection at Journeys of FaithSupport the show

In the vast tapestry of Catholic spirituality, few threads shimmer with the humble brilliance of The Little Flowers of Saint Francis. This cherished collection of stories, born from the life and legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi, isn't just a historical artifact—it's a living wellspring of inspiration, a call to radical simplicity and boundless love for Christ. At Journeys of Faith, we're drawn to these tales like pilgrims to a sacred shrine, eager to uncover the divine whispers hidden in every act of kindness, every moment of surrender. Founded by Bob and Penny Lord with a heart for evangelization, our ministry—rooted in the mission of “all for Jesus”—seeks to share the transformative power of such works with Catholics hungry for deeper connection.Imagine walking the dusty paths of 13th-century Italy, where a poor man in a tattered robe spoke to birds, tamed wolves, and bore the wounds of Christ Himself. The Little Flowers of Saint Francis captures these moments, not as mere legend, but as a testament to a faith so raw and real it still echoes through the centuries. Compiled long after Francis' death by followers of his order, this anthology—originally titled Fioretti—paints a portrait of a saint whose life was a living Gospel, a sermon preached through deeds over words. For us at Journeys of Faith, a Catholic ministry devoted to pilgrimage, miracles, and the saints, these stories aren't just history; they're a roadmap for our own spiritual journeys.Whether you've trekked to Assisi yourself or simply long to encounter the saints in the quiet of your prayer corner, The Little Flowers offers something rare: a glimpse into a soul utterly consumed by love for God and creation. As we delve into this sacred text, we invite you to join us—through the lens of our mission at Holy Family Mission in Arkansas and the countless resources we've crafted, from books to streaming content—to rediscover the joy of a faith that blooms in the smallest, most unexpected places. Let's walk with Saint Francis, together, and see where his little flowers lead us closer to Jesus.Compilation and Authorship QuestionsLet's dig into the murky waters of The Little Flowers of Saint Francis—a text as enigmatic as it is beloved. If you're expecting a neat and tidy origin story, brace yourself for a bit of a historical whodunit. Scholars have been scratching their heads for centuries over who actually penned this collection of tales about Saint Francis of Assisi and his early followers. The traditional attribution points to Brother Ugolino di Monte Santa Maria, a Franciscan friar, as the compiler sometime in the late 13th or early 14th century. But here's the kicker: there's no definitive proof. The text itself doesn't come with a signed confession or a medieval copyright page. Instead, we're left piecing together clues from manuscripts and references in other works. The earliest Latin versions, known as the Actus Beati Francisci et Sociorum Eius, are widely accepted as the foundation for what became The Little Flowers. These stories were likely gathered from oral traditions—think of friars swapping tales around a fire about Francis's radical simplicity, his love for creation, and those wild miracles. But translation and adaptation over time muddy the waters. When the text was rendered into Italian as I Fioretti di San Francesco, it wasn't just a straight port; it was shaped and flavored by the cultural and spiritual lens of the translator. Some argue this introduced embellishments, while others say it captured the heart of Francis's charism in a way the Latin couldn't.Click this link to view the full articleSupport the show

The Radical Conversion of Francis of AssisiLink to Full ArticleIn the rolling hills of Umbria, where the olive groves whisper ancient secrets and the stone walls of Assisi stand as silent witnesses to history, a young man once dreamed of glory. He was a knight, clad in the ambitions of wealth and honor, a son of privilege who chased the fleeting thrill of worldly acclaim. His name was Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, but the world would come to know him as Francis of Assisi—a name that echoes through the centuries as a beacon of radical love, poverty, and devotion to Christ. At Journeys of Faith, we are drawn to stories like his, tales of transformation that cut through the noise of our modern lives and remind us of the raw, untamed power of God's call.Francis's journey from knight to poverello—Italian for “little poor man”—is not just a historical footnote. It's a spiritual earthquake, a seismic shift that reshaped the Church and continues to challenge us today. Here was a man who had everything—status, charm, the promise of a comfortable life—and yet, in a moment of divine encounter, he walked away from it all. He traded armor for rags, pride for humility, and self for service. For those of us seeking deeper meaning, for Catholic Christians yearning to understand the heart of our faith through the lives of the saints, Francis's story is a pilgrimage in itself—a roadmap to the kind of surrender that changes everything. At Journeys of Faith, we've spent decades uncovering the treasures of Catholic tradition, from Eucharistic miracles to the lives of holy men and women like Saint Francis of Assisi. Inspired by our founders, Bob and Penny Lord, who embarked on their own transformative pilgrimage over 40 years ago, we invite you to journey with us into the life of this extraordinary saint. Through his radical conversion, we find not just a historical figure, but a mirror held up to our own lives, asking: What are we willing to let go of for the sake of Christ? Let's step into Assisi, into the 13th century, and witness the making of a saint whose love for God and creation still burns bright in the heart of the Church.Link to Full ArticleSupport the show

Ursula Giuliani (who will later become Sister Veronica Giuliani) was born on December 27, 1660, in Mercatello, a small village in the Province of the Marches in Italy. Her father was a well-respected member of society. Her mother was a deeply religious woman. She would die before she reached her 40th birthday, leaving Ursula and her four surviving siblings (two having died) to their father's care. But before she died, her mother would consecrate each of her five children to the precious Five Wounds of Our Lord Jesus. To the Wound in Our Lord's Side, she entrusted Ursula, who was all of seven years old. Without her understanding the full implication of her mother's bequest, nevertheless this was the beginning of Ursula's betrothal to Jesus' Heart, the very Heart Which bled on the Cross.Support the show

How does a just king, a loyal Defender of the Faith, turn on all that he vowed to protect, betraying Church and country? Was it the limitless power he had, the power to decide between life and death, that gave birth to him placing himself above his Pope and Church? Was it the example of other Henrys before him? This chapter is about one man's infamy and the powerful men and Martyrs God raised up to defend His Church. But before we speak of King Henry VIII, and the Martyrs who died rather than deny the Church, we want to touch briefly on some of his predecessors.Support the show

Pope Pius IX. He was elected Pope at one of the most crucial periods in the history of the Church, and remained at the helm of the ship of the Church longer than any Pope before or since, 32 years. He is responsible for many great things during his papacy, including, but not limited to the Dogma of Papal Infallibility, the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady, the short-lived Vatican I, and his ongoing battle against the elements who were out to destroy the Church, namely the beginnings of the New Age movement, and the liberals all over Europe, but especially Victor Emmanuel in Italy, who not only plotted to steal the papal lands, he ultimately forced our Pope to end his pontificate as a self-imposed prisoner inside the Vatican walls. These and many other attacks made against Pope Pius IX, lovingly called Pio Nonno, caused him much grief throughout his Papacy, but the Lord kept him in charge for for 32 years for a good reason; there was a job to be done! God knew Pius IX could get the job done!Browse our Popes CollectionSupport the show

It was exactly tendays after the disaster. Using great persistence, they began toremove huge pieces of marble that had once been the Altar. Itwas a devastating sight, almost as if a giant hand had smashedit, or the fires of hell had tried to consume it. Part of the Altarhad fallen, blocking the wall where the Tabernacle had been. The Friars and their helpers lifted the heavy piece of marble. There was the cubicle, where the Tabernacle had been, but theTabernacle had melted from the intense heat. All that was leftwere wood splinters and fragments of marble. Tears in theireyes, they reverently began to lift the fractured parts of the Lord'sformer palace, the Tabernacle. They gently brushed aside themound of grey soft ashes that had collected in the opening. Theycould not believe their eyes. There was something gleaming! As they peered deeper into the alcove where the Tabernacle hadbeen, Father Battista beheld the Holy Eucharist! There OurLord was, in the middle of a cave, once again, unharmed as inBethlehem. Only now, the swaddling cloth was the corporal, atop another linen cloth. The corporal was scorched and thesecond cloth burned more; but the Host rested intact under alight pall of ash.Excerpt from Miracles of the Eucharist book 2 by Bob and Penny LordSupport the show

Miracle of the Eucharist of DarocaExcerpt from Miracles of the Eucharist book 1 Daroca is one of the oldest cities in Spain. It is protected by walls on all sides, as well as over a hundred towers. The towers were used to position soldiers in times of battle. This city is located about 50 miles from Zaragoza. It was chosen by Our Lord Jesus, not to be the site of a Eucharistic Miracle, but to be the home of a Eucharistic Miracle. Against great odds and much opposition, the Lord chose this place, and would have His way. There was a great battle being waged at the end of 1238, and the beginning of 1239, between the Spanish and their dreaded invaders, the Moors. Valencia had already fallen to the Moslems, but a group of armies from the area of the Aragon had joined forces to take control of this kingdom back from their hated enemies.Miracles of the Eucharist including DarocaSupport the show

They built up this great fever, and smashed the Hosts with a vengeance. It was the scourging of Jesus once more, at the Pillar, the crowning with thorns, the mockery He and His Mother endured at Calvary. The final blow came when one of the heretics threw a Consecrated Host on the floor, and stomped on It with his boots. The bottom of the boot had spikes on the sole, to help grip the road when there was mud on the ground. The spikes punctured the Host in three places, and small drops of Blood emerged from the Consecrated Host. From Miracles of the Eucharist book 2 https://bobandpennylord.store/search?q=bt2Support the show
