Have you ever found yourself prepping everything before you leave the house—or swooping in to “just fix it” when your partner handles a parenting moment differently than you would? It might feel helpful or necessary in the moment, but over time, it can quietly erode your partnership and leave you feeling more like a manager than a teammate. In this episode, I'm breaking down the hidden cost of stepping in too often, why it happens (hint: it's not just about your spouse), and how you can begin to shift this pattern in a way that benefits everyone in your family. This isn't about blame—it's about awareness, relief, and building the kind of marriage where you feel held, supported, and safe to let go a little. Tune in to discover: The deeper reasons why moms step in, even when they don't want to What stepping in too often teaches your partner (and why it's not helping) The emotional weight of always being “on” and how it builds resentment The powerful mindset shift that helped me finally stop doing it all Conversations that build real partnership instead of more to-do lists   Connect with me for a FREE Married After Kids Intervention Call:  https://marriedafterkids.satoriapp.com/offers/277730-married-after-kids-intervention-call FREE Marriage Shutdown Checklist: https://marriedafterkids.com/marriage-shutdown?utm_source=podcast&utm_medium=links&utm_campaign=MSoptin FREE TRAINING! Show NotesSummaryIn this episode of Live Fearlessly Free, Heather Bunch dives deep into how courage is not the absence of fear but faith in motion. Through personal stories (hello, horses and cookbooks!) and neuroscience insights from Andrew Huberman, Heather equips you with three powerful, action-packed ways to flip on your courageous circuit, get that dopamine boost, and move forward—even when your knees are knocking. If you're tired of fear crashing your party and you're ready to step into bold, faith-fueled action, this one's for you.TakeawaysFear often stops us at the threshold of our dreams.Delighting in intimacy with God is foundational for courage.Understanding our true identity helps us combat fear.Directing our imagination can empower us to take action.Courage is not the absence of fear, but action despite it.Fear starts in the brain and manifests physically in the body. There are four responses to fear: fight, flight, freeze, and fawn.Taking action activates the 'courageous circuit' in our brain.Courage is like a muscle that gets stronger with practice.Partnering with God is essential in our journey of courage.Sound Bites"Courage takes movement.""Action disrupts fear.""Courage is faith in motion.”"Courage isn't the absence of fear—it's doing the thing afraid.""Action flips on the courageous circuit and rewires your brain for brave.""You don't need to wait for fear to leave the room. Nonprofit Power Podcast
Three Secrets to Building Influence with any Money or Policy Decisionmaker in Your World

Nonprofit Power Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 19, 2025 29:24 Transcription Available

There has never been a time when the influence of nonprofit leaders was more needed. In particular, we need to have influence with the money and policy decision makers that hold the power to help or harm the people we serve. At the same time, a lot of things are happening that could leave a nonprofit leader feeling pretty vulnerable and powerless. Our challenge is to find a way to move like water and create that influence no matter what else is going on. One of the things I hear most frequently from nonprofit leaders I work with is some version of, we can't get XYZ critical decision maker to listen to us. We've tried everything and we can't get through to them. We either can't get them to listen, or we can't get access to them, or both. And then what happens is folks just kind of give up on those decision makers or resign themselves to not being able to have influence with them.I get how that happens, but what's that costing you? If these are money and policy decision makers that matter, can you afford not to have influence with them? Is that really an option?      In this episode, we share:The two biggest problems most nonprofit leaders have in getting access to the right decisionmakers, and how to solve themHow past experience with decisionmakers can lead you to the wrong conclusions about influence building – and how that gets in your wayHow to train your subconscious brain to seek out and funnel influence-building opportunities to youHow to craft messaging that will really land with a decisionmaker, and motivate them to work with youWhat it really means to speak the decisionmaker's language, and why it makes such a huge differenceHow to know when it's time to switch tactics and build influence another way I'm preparing to launch a group coaching program that will focus specifically on helping you craft messaging that will shift decisionmakers' perspectives and get them on board with sustaining and even expanding your funding. This will be a coaching opportunity for a limited number of people to come in and be part of a group. There'll be some training, but most of it will be coaching and helping you to get your messaging dialed in so that you can address this pressing need.  What I'm seeing right now is there's nothing more important than this. If that sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, message me through the podcast website or on LinkedIn.  Links:Episode 67 -- Three Keys to FInding the Right Decisionmaker in any System
