#WDRadio WEEK OF OCT 19, 2025 | In the late 1800s, a journalist uncovered the shocking secret of how medical schools obtained their teaching skeletons: hidden factories in London, Paris, and New York that processed unclaimed morgue bodies and exotic specimens from travelers into 10,000 anatomical skeletons per year, using acid baths, boiling tanks, and skilled anatomists who rarely assembled bones from the same person.==========HOUR ONE: Seeing a lifelike human skeleton in a doctor's office, especially in the past couple of centuries, was – and in many cases still is - commonplace. But where did one go to get such lifelike skeletons if you were a doctor in the 1800s? Why, a skeleton factory, of course! (The Skeleton Factory) *** The story of Kate Watson is a grim one – living as a prostitute in the Old West, and when that wasn't enough she took up cattle rustling. Her husband wasn't any better. So it's probably no surprise that she was strung up until dead. But maybe you should wait to pass judgement until you hear the whole story. (The Lynching of Cattle Kate) *** In March of 2004, teenager Brianna Maitland left work in the late evening hours and was never seen again. To this day it is still one of Vermont's most infamous mysteries. (The Vanishing of Brianna Maitland) *** Plus, “The Haunted Adirondack Mountains”==========HOUR TWO: It is considered by many, Britain's most well-known disappearing person case. Even now, over three decades later, people in the UK are still fascinated and intrigued by the unexplained vanishing of Suzy Lamplugh. (The Suzy Lamplugh Mystery) *** John List planned the murders of his own family so carefully, he almost got away with it. In fact, it took 18 years to catch him. (The Family Man Who Murdered His Family) *** We'll look at what it was like to be a woman in the 17th Century… and accused of witchcraft. (Witchly Accusations) *** If you drink whiskey, or even if you don't, you're likely familiar with “Jameson Irish Whiskey.” But did you know that cannibalism played a part in its history? (Whiskey and Cannibalism) *** A strange phenomenon takes place in Arkansas, and despite the numerous sightings and investigations, there is still no explanation for it. (Unexplained In Arkansas)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: Parents always feel their child is special in some way – something that makes their child better in some way than other children. Parents of indigo children are no different, with some parents thinking their children have psychic abilities. Doctors say that these children have ADD or ADHD, but one parapsychologist says indigo children have something even more special – possibly even paranormal - inside them. (Supernatural Indigo Children) *** When you think of a mad scientist you most likely think of Victor Frankenstein – but it's rumored Mary Shelley took inspiration for the character from a real mad scientist by the name of Andrew Ure. (Andrew Ure: A Real Life Mad Scientist) *** The story of Kate Watson is a grim one – living as a prostitute in the Old West, and when that wasn't enough she took up cattle rustling. Her husband wasn't any better. So it's probably no surprise that she was strung up until dead. But maybe you should wait to pass judgement until you hear the whole story. David Parker Ray is believed to have tortured and killed more than 50 women inside his soundproof trailer – a trailer he referred to as his “toy box”.HOUR ONE: David Parker Ray is believed to have tortured and killed more than 50 women inside his soundproof trailer. A trailer he referred to as his “toy box”. (The Toy Box Killer) *** Two friends sipping soda and playing pool find the green table stained blood red, with no warning whatsoever. (Murder At The Pool Table) *** Malta, Italy is known for its splendid ruins, historical monuments, and ancient sites, but one of these places stands out; a mysterious underground complex that holds with in it many enigmas and oddities that remain unsolved to this day. (Malta's Cryptic Catacombs) *** Weirdo family member Robert Foster tells of a creepy incident that happened to him while working security at an army depot in Oregon. (The Phantom Truck) *** Imagine opening up the newspaper and reading this paragraph: “If anyone doubts this story in the least… they are reliable men who would under no circumstances lend their names to an untruth.” Newspapers just do not stand by their sources this unwaveringly, at least not anymore… and especially if the subject of the article is a haunted house. (The Ghost Told Them To Move)==========HOUR TWO: When you think of human sacrifice, you might picture Aztec or Mayan ceremonies, or maybe a Satanic cult standing in a pentagram with a naked woman on an altar – possibly even a volunteer. Personally, I picture Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. While civilizations and groups such as these certainly did (and maybe still do) their share of brutal sacrificing, they are by no means the only ones that conducted death rituals. Some will most certainly surprise, and possibly disturb, you. (Sadistic Sacrificing of Souls) *** A shadow person is a humanoid figure that you perceive in a patch of shadow. Some believe that they are supernatural spirits or extra-dimensional beings. What are they? Paranormal researchers have a theory, neuroscientists have another theory. (Contact With a Shadow Man) *** An astronomy professor says we should begin focusing on space archaeology – starting with our own moon. Why? Well, he believes E.T. might have left a clue there of his existence. (Extraterrestrial Evidence on the Moon) *** Thousands of years ago, people were performing a form of surgery that involved boring holes through a person's skull. Why on earth would they do such a thing? (Trepanation: I Need That Like Another Hole In The Head) *** What Does It Mean To Dream About Aliens?==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: What if we were to discover there were aliens still living on the moon – and they were meddling in our affairs? How would you feel about that? Should extraterrestrials interfere in human affairs if they can help our society, or should we refuse that kind of leap in technology and medicine? (Should Aliens Interfere With Earthly Affairs?) *** Those who work nights are already in the creepy position of working what is called the “graveyard shift” - so you have to expect something to go wrong. If you are a security guard actively looking for something out of the ordinary during the graveyard shift, you know you're going to go home with stories to tell. A Missouri family's terrifying 90-minute encounter with a hovering UFO that manipulated trees with invisible force and left behind physical evidence so compelling it drew legendary researcher J. HOUR ONE: They're powerful in the supernatural. Witches, demons and poltergeists fear them because they are not from our world. The Cherokee call them the Raven Mockers. (The Raven Mocker) *** Betsy's Mysterious Flowers *** A girl's younger sister keeps seeing things that don't exist – until the truth is revealed when older sis is moving out. (Secrets Between Sisters) *** It's called the Chronovisor – and it is said the device can look into events in the future as well as the past. Is it true? We may never know – the Vatican, the supposed owners of the device, are refusing to cooperate when questioned. (Does The Vatican Have a Time Machine?) *** An Alaskan hunter claims to have found a boy that had been kidnapped… not by humans or aliens, but by a mysterious creature knows as the ircenrraat. (Abducted By The Ircenrraat) *** It is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the United States. But there are also tales of ghosts, a giant lake monster, unexplained disappearances, and murders. That's only a sample of what you might find at Oregon's Crater Lake. (The Creeps of Crater Lake) *** Weirdo family member Candice Cardenas tells of a haunting in her mobile home. (This Ghost Loves Brass) *** Dreaming About Owls==========HOUR TWO: It all started one night in June 2018. The screams coming from underneath the house. It was so intense, the homeowners simply abandoned the property. I'll even share audio of the screams so you can decide for yourself if it's real. (Screams From The Basement) *** Weirdo family member Elis Helmersson shares a story passed down the generations about a true ghost sighting in her family. HOUR ONE: More than a hundred years ago, reports described it as “the most weird and gruesome apartment in the world.” Why display an entire room full of grotesque items and open it to the public? (New York Charnel House) *** Kell's Irish Pub in Seattle has a creepy vibe to it, even if the displays and decorations inside aren't meant to be. Perhaps that's because the building started its life as a massive mortuary. (The Beaux Arts Butterworth Building) *** Early one February morning in 1897, John Mars jumped out of bed from a sound sleep, and while the smell of breakfast cooking downstairs wafted up to the second level of the house, he inexplicably grabbed his pistol and went on a shooting spree of his own family. (Haunted Roads and Spook Lights) ==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: Dang Tan Ngoc is a well-known conman who has used the names of multiple dead soldiers to con veteran groups into giving him money. One identity he stole created a fascinating but dark story. (The Strange Return Of Master Sgt. John Hartley Robertson) *** A woman comes home to find her visiting sister murdered – and police were convinced she was the one who committed the crime. So what went wrong with the case to allow her to get away with it? (Did Ida Do It?) *** A bordello, pizza, and a haunting. You can find them all at the Red Onion Saloon.
