How does nature sing to God? Today, Emma Dotter is joined by faithful Watermark member, Alfred Abraham to explain how nature declares the God of our salvation in Psalm 65. Nature speaks to how God preserves, provides for and protects us. As God cares about nature's flourishing, so he cares about our flourishing. As Creator, God shows His power in creation and His intentionality in our lives today. Opening Song: O Perfect Father (https://open.spotify.com/track/1mfPJg5LE2qqRMbmdmFw90?si=e99af498e587487f) by Steph Macleod Lyrics: O Perfect Father on Heaven's throne Who gave my orphan heart a home Treasured and destined before all time Forever claimed by Your love divine What wondrous kindness shown to me To know that I'm eternally A chosen child of God above The perfect Father with perfect love You never fail me You never leave You will provide my every need Joyful or burdened I seek Your face O Father You never turn away Your presence is my perfect peace No other place I long to be A chosen child of God above The perfect Father with perfect love Whom shall I fear in the days to come You are the great Almighty One Formed in Your image I bear Your name Yet in Your heart still my heart remains My silent prayer You always hear You cradle every secret tear A chosen child of God above The perfect Father with perfect love Father my Father who reigns on High Your sovereign name be glorified Lead me through life with great words of truth My passion Father to worship You What joy to serve You all my days I live to follow and obey A chosen child of God above The perfect Father with perfect love What joy to follow all my days I live to follow and obey A chosen child of God above The perfect Father with perfect love Passage: 8 “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that's enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time and you do not know me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who lives in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves. 12 “Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn't see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you. -- John 14:8-17 (CSB) Musical Reflection: I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (KINGSFOLD), English folk song from anthology by Lucy E. At the heart of each of these experiences is dialogue and an opportunity to sit and listen to the wisdom and ways of those who are encountered on the journey. Currently Rachel works in Catholic Education Services Cairns as a Leader of Formation working across 30 Catholic schools in Far North Queensland in the areas of Faith Formation, Religious Education, Outreach, Truth-telling, Healing and Reconciliation. Pentecost John Burruss 5.23.21 by Saint Stephen's
I just resigned from being the fourth person of the Godhead... That's what I said to my wife one Sunday on our way from church. I just resigned from being a fourth person of the Godhead... You see, I was tired of thinking that I bore the weight of the church. Tired of thinking like I had to make things happen. That it was about me and how I was doing. Today, I wanna talk with you about the person who does carry the weight of the church on his shoulders, the person who carries the weight of your life and my life on his shoulders, the person who empowers us, and the person who does make things happen, and that is the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. -------- Download a transcript for the May 22, 2021, Selah episode **This transcript was generated by artificial intelligence and may not be 100% accurate.

"When the Advocate comes... he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment." The Holy Spirit is Coming! Fire and speaking in tongues and a heavenly Advocate. What does it all mean? Pentecost was an ancient Jewish celebration before it became known as the birthday of the Christian church. It refers to 50 days after Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt, when he delivered the 10 Commandments. So when the Holy Spirit descends upon Jews gathered from every part of the known world, a connection is made between the Law and the Spirit. But what is the Spirit? The Spirit is the Holy Wind that carries the message of God's redemptive love in Christ to the ends of the earth. It is wild, free, uncontainable. It is the Spirit of Compassion. Connecting the Law to the Spirit means understanding God through the lens of Love. The Law cannot be an instrument of condemnation when is carried on the life-breath of mercy. Jesus says that the Spirit will prove the world wrong about sin, because from the beginning, people have set themselves up over and against "sinners," when the original sin is over-againstness, or accusation, itself. God Incarnate is judged to be a sinner and is condemned, ridiculed, and murdered. The world was wrong about sin. The world is also wrong about righteousness when we think we find it in condemning, incarcerating, executing, or going to war with others. Judgment itself is judged, and condemnation is sentenced to transformation. The Holy Spirit is the Advocate, the Heavenly Defense Attorney, who sees through all our mistakes and shortcomings to the core of who we are - reflections of Love. The Holy Spirit is the power that brings out the best within us and shows us the best in one another, so that we move from conflict to cooperation, from enmity to embrace. Even before Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descends upon the Roman centurion, a member of the army of Jesus's executioners. He gazes upon the cross and sees Jesus as the Son of God. Truly, God is in every condemned person, and the centurion finally saw that in Jesus. An "enemy" recognizes the truth of who God is. That is the Spirit blowing where it will. On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descends in tongues of fire upon all the people gathered. Then they hear each other in their own native languages. That's what the Holy Spirit does... it allows us to hear and understand one another. "Speaking in tongues" is not about babbling, but about communicating through Love, so we finally understand one another. Happy Pentecost! Adam and Lindsey invite you to many more fiery conversations every Wednesday on Jesus Unmasked at 5 CT/ 3 PT on the Raven Foundation FB page!
Pentecost. The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles to enliven them and send them out to proclaim Christ crucified and raised. Pray today to receive that same spirit and spread the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus. from John 20:19-23...Jesus came and stood in their midstand said to them, “Peace be with you.”When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,“Receive the Holy Spirit.Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”The Gospel of the LordRead the full Gospel passage: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/052321-Day.cfmGospel Study: Fr. Who can know? In the day of instant information we are learning that instant does not mean accurate. So how can we possible know what is meet, right, and salutary with all things useful? We can turn to the one who has proven just what is worth knowing.
