Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text!Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Football Podcast episode 159!Jamie and Mike this week! It is a bumper show as the Premier League sides have played twice since we last sat down together. Six points separating third and sixth and the race for those Champions League spaces is heating up. But, of course, at the bottom of the table we say cheerio to Southampton, and their Sporacle quiz answer of a manager. We also manage to get a bit existential. In Scotland, Aberdeen won, again, and Dunfermline won, and, eh, lost and found themselves back in a relegation play-off spot. All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! Legendary announcer, player, and former coach of the Miami Fusion: Mr. Ray Hudson sends us off in style! For this whole year, we've been charting the good, the bad, and the unbelievable stories of this magical club in South Florida that existed from 1998-2001. We told the oral history of the Miami Fusion from those who actually lived it, speaking to former players, coaches, staff, fans, even the owner himself! And now, what better way to close out this series than with the man most associated with the Miami Fusion, Ray Hudson. Ray joins us for the final 2 chapters in this series. In this particular chapter, Ray details how he was in prime position to take charge of the Miami Fusion during their 2000 season, and how it eventually lead to their success in the 2001 season. Ray shares as many stories and memories of the Fusion as he can muster. He shares personal anecdotes for many MANY players, coaches, and staff and even apologizes that he can't get to MORE folks associated with the Fusion. I want to thank everyone who has come on the podcast to share their specific stories and memories, both of the early days of MLS and of the Miami Fusion specifically. What started out as wishful thinking has turned into a full-blown love letter. THANK YOU for everything, have a happy holidays, and let's continue to keep the memory of the Miami Fusion alive for years to come, cheers! In 2001, despite putting together one of the best seasons in MLS history (at that point and arguably since), the decision was made to fold the Fusion. While MLS soccer has returned to Miami in the form of David Beckham's Inter Miami, much has been discussed of "what could've been?" Had the Miami Fusion been allowed to stay and build. Indeed, what WOULD a Miami Fusion look like in 2023?This podcast tells the story of the Miami Fusion through the voices of those who actually lived it. 25 interviews across 25 episodes charting the good, the bad, and the unbelievable.

Del 5. Del 2.
“Midnight Magic” and Pure Energy, the R&B/funk/dance group that brought it to life andwill release it September 8, have more in common than creator/creationLisa wrote the vocals and the melody. Curtis Hudson, lead guitarist and vocals, addedthe funk twist, brother Ray Hudson is the bass guitarist, and together they have putsome magic in “Midnight Magic.” The song is a hot, hopping, purely fun dance trackAnd the video tells visual stories of people waking to the magic of midnight, showcasesCurt and Ray in all their glorious funk, and if Lisa's magnificent, soaring vocals don'tlevitate you right off the floor, you might be dead.Pure Energy — Curtis, Lisa and Ray — are also looking for some magic at midnight. The song was written back in the early '80s, when the group was hot but the musicindustry was often geared more toward snuffing fire instead of sparking it.Pure Energy disbanded in 1984, at least as a performing, recording entity.Until this year.“We were always trying to put songs out on other artists,” said Ray. “We decided ‘Hey,we need to try to get some exposure for some of this material we have,' like Madonnaand other people we started working with. And we found that that was working for us.”Madonna and a song she made famous, “Holiday,” illustrate the point. Curtis and Lisawrote “Holiday,” regarded as the single that really launched Madonna's career.“We actually wrote that song for our group, Pure Energy,” said Lisa. “We presented it toour record company, and they said it wasn't a hit. And Madonna did it and, you know, the rest is history.”“We thought we could have done ‘Holiday,' but our record company didn't hear it forus,” said Ray. “That kind of helped us decide we need to go a different direction.”The group formed in the mid-'70s. Their first single, “Party On,” made it to No. 7 on theBillboard Dance Charts. Members of the group served as writers and producers forother artists, including Jean Carne, Maxine Singleton, Wranda Rawlins and LaurieceHudson. Curt wrote and produced “Body Work,” which became a hit for the group Hot Streak onits platinum soundtrack for the movie Breakin'. “Body Work” was also sampled by MissyElliot for her 2005 worldwide hit “Lose Control,” which was nominated for Best RapSong at the Grammys and won a Grammy for best short form music video.Curtis also co-wrote the song “Remember Us” for John Legend, which earned Legend aGrammy for Best R&B Artist in 2021. With his and Lisa's son, Eric Hudson, Curtis alsoco-wrote two songs on the Isley Brothers' new album, Make Me Say It Again Girl. Curtand Eric teamed up to produce “Midnight Magic.”Eric himself is a five-time Grammy winning producer who has written and produced forsuch artists as Whitney Houston, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, John Legend, Usher, andThe Weekend. Now, Lisa, Ray and Curtis are ending almost 40 years of temporary disbandment. They never stopped believing in Pure Energy. They never stopped performing, writing andcollaborating.

Message from Ray Hudson on July 23, 2023
We continue our exploration of Real Hope and the miracles Jesus performed with Ray Hudson, Pastor of City Center Church in Berkeley, Ca. Can God really do anything? What's our role in the equation?
It's safe to say that we're all searching for peace in a world filled with uncertainty. Perhaps you worry about your kids' future, becoming ill, or your finances. Maybe you're afraid of losing your job, not getting into that university you have your heart set on, or a loved one dying. Or perhaps, you have profound regret and shame over mistakes you've made in your life. Whatever your burden, Jesus came to take it all and give you freedom.Join us today as special speaker Ray Hudson reveals how the Bible uses seemingly contradictory imagery to depict Jesus as the Prince of Peace, who turns our worry into confidence, our fear into faith, and shame into assurance!---------------ABOUT “IMAGES OF GOD”What comes to mind when we picture God? Some see Him as a kind old man with a big white beard sitting on a fluffy cloud. Others see Him as an angry, barrel-chested warrior ready to strike them down. Our ideas, perceptions, and notions of who God is are shaped by our culture and experiences, but do they reflect who He really is?The Bible gives countless images and illustrations that paint a picture of God's character. Let us dig deep together into His Word to get a more accurate picture of who God really is in our new series, Images of God.Part 1: God The Father: • GOD The Father | ... Part 2: Jesus - Price Of Peace: • Jesus - Prince Of... --------------- ABOUT ECHO.CHURCHEcho.Church is a place to experience community and discover God's purpose for your life.
