An open discussion about the possibility of Harvey Barnes - a former international for another country and who has said no to Scotland twice - deciding to play for us after qualification for the World Cup has been secured. How significant could his addition be? But at what cost to morals? Does apathy matter? And where is the line drawn among the impossibility to measure feeling. It was a mixed night for English sides in the Champions League as Chelsea beat Barcelona, while Manchester City and Newcastle both lost.Kelly Cates has all the reaction and is joined by BBC Senior Football Reporter Ian Dennis, former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin and ex-Man City midfielder Michael Brown. They start at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea dominated 10-man Barca. Chelsea winger Estevao Willian shone in the 3-0 win, scoring a stunning goal in the process. But Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was quick to play down comparisons with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo, warning of the pressure that comes with such a tag.Pep Guardiola made 10 changes against Bayer Leverkusen who were just too good for Manchester City. Did the City boss underestimate the opposition who won comfortably by two goals at the Etihad. And it was another defeat on the road for Newcastle. Despite leading through Harvey Barnes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rolled back the years to grab two goals and the win for Marseille. The team also react to news that the top four seeded countries will not be able to meet each other until the semi-finals of next year's World Cup for the first time in the tournament's history.Timecodes:00'40 Chelsea13'00 Enzo Maresca14'00 Manchester City22'00 Pep Guardiola25'00 Newcastle30'00 Eddie Howe31'00 World Cup newsBBC Sounds / 5 Live commentaries: Wednesday 26 November 2000 Arsenal v Bayern Munich on 5live 2000 PSG v Tottenham on Sports ExtraThursday 27 November 1745 Feyenoord v Celtic on Sports Extra 2000 Rangers v Sporting Braga on Sports Extra 2000 Aberdeen v Noah on Sports Extra 2
Newcastle United have lost 2-1 to Marseille in the South of France. Send us your questions and thoughts by text!! Leave your name in the text!Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Football Podcast episode 182! The lads return with a packed show after another wild weekend across Scotland and the Premier League. We kick things off close to home, breaking down Dunfermline's gritty win over Morton, Aberdeen's narrow victory against Hearts, and Scotland's entertaining six-goal triumph over Denmark that takes them to the World Cup.From there, it's time for our “Moments of the Week”, featuring a bizarre bust-up at Old Trafford, a horrendous handball in Bournemouth, and a last-gasp penalty save that tipped Brighton's perfect PL symmetry. Our marquee matches deliver plenty of drama too: Arsenal's Eberechi Eze lights up the North London derby with a historic hat-trick; Harvey Barnes inspires Newcastle to a statement win over Manchester City; and Nottingham Forest shock a flat Liverpool at Anfield with a stunning 3-0 victory. We round things off with “One Thing We Learned”, including Leeds United's worrying habit of letting leads slip, an excellent Crystal Palace versus Rob Edwards, and Chelsea's growing midfield flexibility. And of course, we wrap up with our infamous “Bin Juice Game of the Week” – this time featuring a less-than-sparkling affair at Craven Cottage. All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Mark Ogden, Jason Burt and debutant Charlie Eccleshare to reflect on the weekend's sporting action. We begin with crisis-hit Liverpool. Their defeat to Forest at Anfield marked a sixth loss in seven matches, but is it too harsh for Mark to suggest that Arne Slot's side is on track to become the worst defending champions in Premier League history?Attention then shifts to the Ashes, where we're joined by Martin Samuel, reporting on an extraordinary opening two days in Perth. Following a chaotic and crushing defeat for England in the first Test — driven by a blistering century from Travis Head — Martin raises serious questions about England's preparation and their batting order. We then turn to Manchester City, who suffered a 2–1 defeat at Newcastle, undone by a Harvey Barnes double. With a fourth league loss already this season, is Pep Guardiola's side showing signs of vulnerability? And to what extent has Rodri's absence contributed to their struggles?Next, we turn to F1 news, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where both McLaren cars were disqualified, costing Lando Norris his second-place finish and the 18 points that came with it. With only two events remaining, how will this reshape the picture? We then turn to Chelsea, who moved into second place with a 2–0 win at Burnley's Turf Moor. Mark is surprised to see them so high in the table — but is he right to argue that they still don't look like genuine title contenders? Finally, Adam Collins returns — in good spirits — to analyse England's predictability in the Ashes first Test and their total collapse in the second innings. Will the challenge only intensify in ten days' time as we head to Brisbane for a pink-ball Test?Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. On this week's episode, Mike, Dan and Craig reflect on another massive three points at the Gtech, this time against Eddie Howe's Newcastle. Harvey Barnes scored his customary goal against us in what was a fairly dull first half, but a Kevin Schade header, and another brace for Igor Thiago in the second half meant Keith Andrews' side secured all three points in West London. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Richard Cracknell, Jaon McGovern and Marlon as our visit to Asia ended in in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on an emotional evening for skipper Heung-Min Son, appearing in his hometown just a day after announcing his intention to leave the Club. Following Thursday's defeat of Arsenal in Hong Kong, we rounded off this year's pre-season tour with a competitive clash against the Magpies in Seoul, South Korea, with Brennan Johnson's early goal cancelled out by Harvey Barnes in the Coupang Play Series. Following his announcement on Saturday, Son was selected to start by new Head Coach Thomas Frank and wore the armband at a venue he knows so well as captain of his country, with his substitution from the pitch in the 64th minute a poignant moment. Unfortunately though, James Maddison left the pitch on a stretcher in the closing stages after pulling up with no-one around him, clearly in distress. Spurs also announced the signing of João Palhinha on loan from FC Bayern, subject to international clearance and work permit. The 30-year-old Portugal international joins the Club on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season with an option to make the move permanent next summer. Join Wolfie on Forest Fan TV for a live transfer update show, bringing you all the latest Nottingham Forest news! First up, a potential hiccup in the £30m deal for Botafogo defender Jair Cunha, with reports suggesting the 20-year-old Brazilian wants to stay at his current club, and now Real Madrid have entered the fray with interest in the youngster. Wolfie dissects whether this could derail Forest's plans or if a loan-back option might keep the transfer alive, especially after Cunha's standout Club World Cup performances. Next, the saga of Anthony Elanga's potential move to Newcastle United takes a new turn, with reports today indicating the Magpies might include Harvey Barnes as a makeweight to sweeten the deal. Some sources suggest Newcastle could sell Barnes separately or propose a swap, with Elanga's £50m valuation being a sticking point after Forest rejected a £35m bid last year. Wolfie breaks down the implications of losing Elanga, his six goals and 11 assists this season, and whether Barnes—a proven Premier League winger with nine goals last term—could be a fair trade or a smart addition to the squad. Join the live chat and share your thoughts on these breaking developments—can Forest hold onto Cunha despite Real Madrid's interest, and should they accept a Barnes deal for Elanga? With the transfer window buzzing and Forest gearing up for Europe, Wolfie explores how these moves could shape Nuno Espírito Santo's team. The Football Fill-In has got a great line-up this week with Ben Foster, Dave Watson, Ben Tozer and former Leeds Legend, Stuart Dallas! On today's Premier League show we talk about Brighton's INCREDIBLE 2-1 win over Manchester City and the talks around if City will retain their title this season after a FOURTH defeat in a row! We then move on to Liverpool with Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah's goals seeing off Aston Villa, putting them at the top of the table going into the international break. The London Derby between Chelsea and Arsenal ended 1-1, but the Gunners could have nicked it at the end through Leandro Trossard. Staying in West London, Brentford's home form continued as they saw off AFC Bournemouth 3-2 in an entertaining spectacle that saw Yoanne Wissa bag another two! We had a MASSIVE shock down at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Ipswich stunning Spurs with a 2-1 win which is their first win of the season! Looking at the other two London clubs at home this weekend, we had Palace vs Fulham where there are now questions about Oliver Glasner's future at the club, but will their form improve with their injury list building? West Ham drew 0-0 against Everton, with both GK's showing great performances here and we have our two GKs analyse their performance on the show. Ruud van Nistelrooy got another win to end his short reign in charge at Manchester United versus Leicester, but has recently been confirmed (after the show) that he has left the Red Devils, was this a good decision from the club? Newcastle beat the Nottingham Forest 3-1 away from home with players like goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes shining. Finally, Wolves beat Southampton 2-0 at home, which could be a job saver for Gary O'Neil.... We break each game down into more detail on the show and make sure you watch to the end to see who wins in the Football Fill-In quiz! Learn more about your ad choices. Musa and Ryan begin with a quick Premier League roundup (03:18), including shout-outs for the bangers from Jhon Duran for Aston Villa and Harvey Barnes, Nottingham Forest's first win at Anfield in 55 years, and wins for Newcastle, Manchester City, and Manchester United. They then move on to Arsenal's third straight North London Derby away win, thanks to Gabriel's header (18:20), before heading to La Liga (30:46), where Barcelona continue to impress, the Bundesliga (37:40), and Serie A (40:44). Also, as the expanded Champions League format debuts, there's a very quick and silly idea for what a Stadio league would look like! We all know that a trip to Molineux can always turned out to be a frustrating day, but when Harvey Barnes has a wand of a right foot then all that can change. Want more GallowgateShots content? Host Ricky Sacks was joined by returning regular guests in Lee McQueen, Richard Cracknell and Patrick Tyrant as Newcastle maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they defeated Tottenham in a thrilling match at a packed and atmospheric St James' Park. The hosts took a 37th-minute lead when Harvey Barnes superbly controlled a tricky side-footed finish after Lloyd Kelly had done well down the left and pulled the ball back. But Tottenham levelled in the 56th minute. After Pedro Porro's shot had been deflected on to the crossbar moments earlier, half-time substitute Brennan Johnson had his shot sliced into his own goal by Newcastle defender Dan Burn. Keeper Nick Pope then tipped over James Maddison's curled effort and Johnson fired over as Spurs piled on the pressure. However, against the run of play, Newcastle regained their lead with 12 minutes left. Joelinton started the move with excellent work in midfield and he released substitute Jacob Murphy who ran at the defence and crossed low for Alexander Isak to net the winner.
