This week we are joined by Ray Sullivan the Executive Director of the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, and Katie Maslechko, the CEO of Rental Protection Fund in BC. They along with two other partners, have come together to form a coalition called the “Canadian Housing Acquisition Fund”, or “Canadian Housing AF”. We talk about the need for acquiring affordable housing and not just building new, how in BC they've done a provincial version of this already with great success, and how the ask of $2.5 billion hopes to create 10,000 new affordable housing units over the next 2 years. It's one pod you don't want to miss!

The critical need for leaders to have people upstream (mentors & walking buddies) and downstream (those you invest in). Powerful relationship building principles like, “listening to your spouse to understand them not to change them.” To study your spouse and discern whether they are a red solo cup or a crystal goblet. Hear an important meaning of “passion” that can change your perspective of your spouse. Effective ideas to affair proof your marriage. Lessons for young parents including: “you can raise your kids and spoil your grandkids or spoil your kids and raise your grandkids.” Incredible personal rhythms to help deepen intimacy and gospel impact like fighting through awkwardness to learn to pray together. The most powerful marriage advice that Sully has ever heard.
What is discipleship? If you asked multiple Christians and pastors what discipleship is and an even tougher question: how do we implement it in our churches, you would receive multiple responses. There is a lot of confusion and guessing that surrounds the idea of Christians discipling other Christians. There is also an issue of a lack of discipleship in the lives of many Christians and churches. On this podcast, we invited one of our friends, Ray Sullivan on to discuss this podcast. Ray Sullivan currently serves as a discipleship catalyst for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. He felt the burden to study this topic in depth, and to help implement discipleship in churches. He explains what discipleship is, some important aspects of the discipleship process, encourages pastors and Christians in this area and clears up a lot of confusion surrounding disciplesip! It was a great conversation, and I know you will be blessed by it!
We begin with a look at the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona on the Maritimes. We speak with Professor Anya Waite from the “Ocean Frontier Institute” to discuss what lessons we can learn from the devastating storm. Next, we examine the current housing crisis in Canada, from very low inventory to rising interest rates making homeownership incredibly difficult for those looking to break-in to the market. We tackle the topic with Ray Sullivan from the “Canadian Housing and Renewal Association”. How does Canada rank as a country? Well, according to a survey from website “US News”, we've made our way into the ‘Top 5' list of best countries to call home. We get details on what ‘criteria' the survey considered from Morgan Felchner, Executive Editor of “US News”. Finally, like it or not winter is coming!! We catch up with Michael Lopez of “Reliance Home Comfort” for a Fall “to do list” in order to ‘prep' your home for the cooler weather ahead.

YEEHAW!!! Steers n Queers, Nuts n Fruits. This Texas made Writer, Actor and Comedian has left LA to come back to his roots and get in on the ground level of the Austin comedy scene that's about to explode. Dylan Ray Sullivan was born in San Antonio and now he's returned to life off the Southbound 35 enjoying cheaper rent, in home washer/dryers and never-ending restaurants named with puns. "I love moving, I've always been a person who likes fresh starts, I go to one city and get my bad reputation, then move on to the next". The only reputation I've ever known of Dylan is to be off the charts hilarious. Funny is funny, no matter what color, size, shape, or gender you are. Humor is a love language and Dylan exemplifies this exceptionally. You feel it the second he steps on stage. His talents and dedication have landed him appearances on Lights Out with David Spade and most recently in Showtime's Original Series, The Comedy Store, that beautifully chronicles the evolution of comedy within the walls of the mecca called Mitzi Shore's Sunset. Dylan was a staple in the culture at The Store as one of the Door Guys or as he and I coin in this episode, a "Door Y'all", where one minute he's in the Main Room doing five in front of 300 people, but then post set is unclogging a toilet or exercising bargaining power with chicken fingers. It's an absolute must watch for anyone. Former stand-up comedian, Mike Binder, highlights one of pop culture's greatest practices of comedy with never-before-seen, archived footage and incisive, emotional interviews with some of the greatest and biggest names in comedy. I have no doubt Dylan is on his way to being one of them. Follow Dilly Ray's Laugh Path here!
