On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show, we are joined by former Nashville recording Artist, Chad Brock, and singer/songwriter Tom Yankton!CHAD BROCK In high school, Brock played football & was offered a post-secondary scholarship to play sports. He turned down the scholarship, however, as his experiences in the school choir had convinced him to pursue a singing career. Brock moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to follow this dream, but he met with little success at first. In 1994, he signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records, but he did not release any music for over three years.Warner Brothers and WCW got together to cross-promote Brock, and he trained at World Championship Wrestling's training facility, the WCW Power Plant. Chad wrestled for WCW from 1994 -1996, until an injury forced him to retire. He also appeared at several WCW events in 1999, where he was briefly involved in an angle with Curt Hennig. In 1998, Brock released his debut single, "Evangeline", which peaked at number 51 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. That song's follow-up, the ballad "Ordinary Life", went on to become Brock's first major hit,[1] peaking at number 3 on the same chart, as well as number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following that song's success, Brock released his self-titled debut album. Its third and final single, "Lightning Does The Work", reached number 19 in 1999.Brock's fourth chart single was a rewrite of Hank Williams, Jr.'s signature song "A Country Boy Can Survive", a number 2 hit for Williams in 1981. Chad's version, which featured Williams and George Jones, was entitled "A Country Boy Can Survive (Y2K Version)", was re-written with lyrics pertaining to the Year 2000 problem (abbreviated Y2K). The song served as the first single from Brock's 2000 album Yes!. Its second single was the title track, which went on to become Brock's only number-one Billboard hit,[1] as well as a number 22 hit on the Hot 100 chart. The third and last single from Yes! ("The Visit") peaked at number 21.2001 saw the release of Brock's 3rd and final album for Warner Bros.. Entitled III, it was less successful than its predecessor. III had only one chart entry in "Tell Me How", which failed to make the Top 40. This album also reprised Brock's three highest-charting singles ("Yes!", "Ordinary Life" and "Lightning Does The Work"). Shortly thereafter, he signed to Broken Bow Records, then a newly formed independent label. Although he released five singles for Broken Bow, four of which made the charts, he never put out a full album.TOM YANKTONTom Yankton's rowdy, high-energy, multi-million streaming, wildly-talented brand of award-winning, party crowd entertainment wouldn't be complete without, 1.) The back story that starts in Hot Springs, Arkansas and 2.) The extensive resume that includes opening for Luke Bryan, The Brothers Osborne, Walker Hayes, and Riley Green, performing on Jimmy Kimmell Live, The Today Show, The Grand Ole Opry, The Academy Of Country Music Awards, The Rolling Stones “Zip Code” Tour, and writing songs for “Bad Moms Christmas,” Lifetime Network's "Love At First Flight," and Netflix's “Sex Education,” and working with Legendary artists, such as Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers-Chicago, along with Christina Aguilera, Collin Raye, RaeLynn, Rascal Flatts, Doug Supernaw, Waylon Payne, Russ Taff, and Jason Crabb. Spensha Baker, who is known for being on Team Blake on NBC's The Voice, joins Paul Cardall on the 34th episode of All Heart. Both artists met at the White House where they performed at the 2018 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Paul recently caught up with Spensha at the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and discovered how God has led her on a path that is inspirational to anyone with a gift they are compelled to share with the world. As the daughter of military parents who were based in San Antonio, Texas and as a devout Christian, Spensha signed with Geffen Records as a child. She recorded one gospel album only to leave after taking a 3-year break to redefine her goals. She moved to Nashville in pursuit of a deep love for country music. On The Voice, she became the first black woman to make it to the final four. Paul and Spensha discuss the challenges of life in Nashville and what led her back to Texas. Spensha again took a 3-year break to rediscover her passion to follow God's lead. After this, she caught the attention of Rascal Flatts, Jay DeMarcus. Jay is  a CEO and owner of the Christian label Red Street Records. Jay said, “When I first heard Spensha sing, I was taken by her voice. When we finally got to meet and she shared her passion for music and for God, we knew we wanted to be a part of her musical journey. We are excited for the road ahead.” Spensha will be joining veteran Christian artists on the RSR roster that includes Jason Crabb, Avalon and rising stars Cade Thompson, Iveth Luna and Lauren Camey. Her songs from the show consistently landed in the Top 10 on iTunes. Her rendition of original song, "Old Soul," hit #1 on the Country chart and #3 on the overall chart. As a performer since the tender age of 6, Spensha Baker got her start in gospel music. She made appearances on Christian Artist Talent Search and Star Search, before signing with Geffen Records to release her debut album Outloud!at the age of 15. Later, after a 3-year break from music, she redefined her goals and relocated to Nashville. She became inspired by storytelling through the art of country music and reluctantly agreed to audition for The Voice at the urging of her mother.  “It's funny how you can run away from your purpose, but God always has a way of bringing you right back around to it," recalls Baker. With both of her parents being retired military veterans, Baker spent most of her childhood moving constantly to different military bases and has developed a personal commitment to our nation's troops. Spensha dedicated her first album to all American soldiers and their families. She has made appearances at numerous military events, including performing for President George W. Bush at Fort Hood.

Ryan Griffin is a Country Music singer/songwriter originally from Ocala, Florida. Ryan joins Country Music Made Me to discuss his early love of music which began while listening to the Country greats in the family car and with his Grandpa on Sunday nights while watching the Grand Ole Opry Telecast, it was also inspired by the soulful tunes of Brian McKnight and the genre bending sounds of Keith Urban. Ryan and Brendan talk about how his time at Belmont helped guide him towards a career as an artist, including a stint as the tour manager for an up-and-coming artist by the name of Jason Aldean, and what the journey has been like towards finding his own unique sound within the genre. Ryan explains how he's been able to navigate the ups and downs of his career, including losing his mentor and friend, Busbee in 2019, being dropped by both his publisher and record label in 2021, how the support of his wife helped him move forward as an independent artist, and the amazing opportunities that have come thanks to the success of his single "Salt, Lime & Tequila", including being welcomed onto the Grand Ole Opry stage and signing as the flagship artist on the Jay DeMarcus led Red Street Records.
