Series: Amos | Seek the Lord and Live. Passage: Amos 5:1-17. Preacher: Jake Ashley. Date of Talk: 16 October, 2022.
I asked you what case you would solve if you could, and you answered! I'm as interested in each of these cases as you are. Let's check on where these cases stand, and what each of them needs to see justice roll like a river. In this episode we are going to talk about the disappearances of Maura Murray, Cleashindra Hall, and Jodi Huisentruit as well as the murders of Libby German and Abby Williams which together have been called the Delphi Murders, and the death of Patti Adkins. Our Bible passage this week is Amos 5:24: “But let justice and fairness flow like a river that never runs dry.” Through the prophet Amos, God was rebuking the people of Israel who were committing injustices against people - the same types of injustices that God had rescued THEM from. He points out how they are careful to perform all of the religious rituals but ignore the real needs of the people around them. Amos says that to truly worship God will transform the way we treat others. Justice and fairness require us to take action when it's in our power to do so. So how do we do that? Obviously for people who have information about a crime - not just the ones we've talked about today but ANY crime - you need to come forward with what you know. I get that it can be scary, but you can tell authorities what you know without giving your name. Or you can do what that anonymous tipster did in Libby and Abby's case - give the info to a podcaster. You can email me or message me on social media if you want to and I'll pass the information along. Be that Person of Impact for these families today. In this episode, I interview three of the five Thompson siblings—Jordan Taylor Thompson, Jake Wells Thompson, and Brooke Cherith Thompson. While growing up, the whole family traveled throughout America singing gospel music in evangelical, fundamentalist churches. After a difficult church experience, the whole family went through times of doubt, questions, and unbelief concerning their faith journey. Today all three siblings are singer/songwriters with a depth that reflects their spiritual journey. We recorded a few their songs for the podcast and for our bonus content. Be sure check out their new EP—“The Siblings EP.”

Jake Wells is a Kansas City based singer/songwriter who grew up in a large family that traveled around America performing gospel music. After Jake went through a season of finding his own voice, he released a DIY single entitled “Roll Like Thunder” in 2016. This single went viral with downloads and led to him receiving an invitation to audition on NBC's television show “The Voice” (Season 15). Jake and I talked about his faith and songwriting journey. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jake and look forward to doing some events together. His sound has been described as “Funkadelic Bluesy-eyed Soul Rock.” I think you'll love it. Ched Myers is a theologian, and author of the explosive Binding the Strong Man: A Political Reading of Mark's Story of Jesus. We asked Ched to reflect on the theology and ecology of rivers for this extended devotional podcast. He takes us on a journey down the Ventura river, where he lives in California, and goes on to open up the radical political imagination of the many biblical visions of rivers, in a world where colonisation and empire habitually steal water and turn fertile places into deserts. Ched has recently co-authored, with Elaine Enns: Healing Haunted Histories: A Settler Discipleship of Decolonization. DC’s Mike James and Mollie Ames discuss: All terrestrial segments were recorded live on October 30th (Day 304 of 2020), and all podcast segments were recorded live on November 1st (Day 306 of 2020) Part 1 of 3 of the Podcast only content – Remember when Rock The Vote was a thing? Well, it still is even though "rock" (just like our democracy) is no longer a thing. Terrestrial: Hour 1 (begins around 0:21:00) MLB crowns its 2020 World Series Champion and the winner and the moment itself, in so many ways, exemplifies exactly what's wrong with America. Randy Arozarena's story is way better than the movie will be, and we're also listing all the almost all white "cities" in Ohio that have a median household income that's higher than what Randy's pro-rated salary was to play this season in a middle of a pandemic. (Hint - There's a lot of them) Part 2 of 3 of the Podcast only content – Halloween candy, the only time of year eating lots of commercial brand candy is a thing for some people. (begins around 1:17:00) Lachlan MacKinnon’s ‘Best of Edition’ Let Me Tell You A Story: “The Delivery Man” (begins around 1:31:00) Terrestrial: Hour 2 (begins around 1:36:00) The one thing Biden and Trump share in common, even with good reason, is still really hard to believe. The White Sox try to make up for a clear mistake made back the 80s by making yet another clear mistake, meanwhile, the Tigers hire a known cheater who prior to that was known as a winner, which, winning is exactly what he'll do for the Tigers, whether he gets caught cheating again or not. True journalistic integrity is back and better than ever, baby, and it's also pissed off. Part 3 of 3 of the Podcast only content – Mollie’s Weekly Reports: Some studies aren't as good as other studies if all they aim to do is point out the obvious, and Walmart stops selling guns for fear of what people might do with them heading into the most contentious election ever (before quickly changing their mind and continuing to sell guns). (begins around 2:31:00) Terrestrial: Hour 3 (begins around 2:46:00) The glories of (good) sushi, and Mollie's "regee-sweetburn" Mollie’s Weekly Reports, terrestrial edition! – Deep fried devil eggs are testing the theory you can deep fry anything. 2 single outer-rim Browns fan-hobos open a restaurant, and it's definitely not a well thought out idea. And a great Halloween decoration idea gets censored simply because uptight people suck. All this and so much more on this episode of the Defend Cleveland Podcast. Traders make money by selling bespoke solutions and hedging the risk with listed securities. The resultant risk is called basis and running this risk is the strategy for such groups. One basis is the maturity mismatch between what the trader sells to what they use as a hedge. The strategy is to roll the hedge several times. The podcast describes the most famous failing of a stack and roll strategy, namely Metallgesellschaft and their oil trading. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/riskpearlswisdom/message

Hello, and welcome to a very special episode of I Am Hear, celebrating International Podcast Month. I’m your host, Ryan Boelter, and I’m from the show Character Creation Cast.Podcasters from around the RPG community have banded together to create a series of one-shot games for International Podcasting Month to promote diverse and inclusive gaming and to celebrate the hard work we do as podcasters.Today’s game is All Outta Elder Signs which is a hack that I made of All Outta Bubblegum, originally created by Michael Sullivan and Jeffrey Grant. Joined with me for the game are Therin from Roll Like a Girl, Laura from Fate and the Fablemaidens, Dani from Tales of Blood and Stone, and Megan from Tabletop Potluck.Today’s game, like most All Outta Bubblegum games, is mostly a comedy, but it does feature some horror themes, descriptions of gore, creepy crawlies, hauntings, and giant eldritch horrors from the Cthulhu mythos. It also involves a whole lot of kicking butt. Just wanted to give you fair warning before we dived right into this. Will all of that out of the way, on with the show.
