What a maternity session can look like varies greatly. Amy Sanusi has mastered creating images for expecting clients that are true to them. Instead of having her clients fit a specific look, Amy works at creating a connection and experience that not only rings true to the client, but makes them fall in love with the process, becoming return clients for family photos year after year. On this episode, Amy shares her process and tips for creating an outstanding experience for expecting moms. Amy Sanusi is the owner of Kinship Photo, and in her 10th year of photographing families. When she got into photography, she was a studio manager for a wedding photographer, who slowly taught her the ropes of how to use the camera. From there, she has loved getting to form long standing relationships with her families through pregnancies, births, and everything in between. She loves making space for families to embrace the chaos of parenthood, and truly revel in the “now” before it becomes a “then.” Before moving to the Hudson Valley in Upstate New York, she lived in Brooklyn with her husband and 12 year old stepdaughter. They now have their own home with two dogs and another daughter, Willa, who is 18 months old. She is loving toddler hood so far, and can't wait to jump into another year of maternity magic! It is widely believed that the political problems of the Middle East date back to the era of World War I, when European colonial powers unilaterally imposed artificial borders on the post-Ottoman world in postwar agreements. This book offers a new account of how the Great War unmade and then remade the political order of the region. Ranging from Morocco to Iran and spanning the eve of the Great War into the 1930s, it demonstrates that the modern Middle East was shaped through complex and violent power struggles among local and international actors. Jonathan Wyrtzen shows how the cataclysm of the war opened new possibilities for both European and local actors to reimagine post-Ottoman futures. After the 1914–1918 phase of the war, violent conflicts between competing political visions continued across the region. In these extended struggles, the greater Middle East was reforged. Wyrtzen emphasizes the intersections of local and colonial projects and the entwined processes through which states were made, identities transformed, and boundaries drawn. This book's vast scope encompasses successful state-building projects such as the Turkish Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as short-lived political units—including the Rif Republic in Morocco, the Sanusi state in eastern Libya, a Greater Syria, and attempted Kurdish states—that nonetheless left traces on the map of the region. Drawing on a wide range of sources, Worldmaking in the Long Great War: How Local and Colonial Struggles Shaped the Modern Middle East (Columbia UP, 2022) retells the origin story of the modern Middle East. Ronay Bakan is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University.

At the start of 2014, Ade Sanusi created a pioneering platform that celebrated the next generation of creative talents called Art Meets Culture. The platform is a one-of-a-kind experience, designed to celebrate, promote, and develop artists and musicians. Tapping into the importance of social media in the artist community, this unique event allowed music and art enthusiasts to come together and share their experiences, with a specifically tailored social media campaign for each show. With over 22 events curated since 2014, we have now expanded the brand into an art-driven communications platform. The goal is to continue to develop the platform that champions artists and be the absolute best at what they do. In this episode, we discuss...
