"They Not Like Us: College Professors Squabble Up Over the Drake vs Kendrick Lamar ‘Diss'course" Description: In this episode of Put Em On The Couch, college professors Jason McCoy (psychology) and Nelson (political science and history) squabble up over the ongoing Drake vs Kendrick Lamar "Diss'course"—a year-long back-and-forth between two of the biggest icons in hip-hop. With nearly a dozen diss tracks thrown, Kendrick Lamar's anthem They Not Like Us has become the centerpiece of this highly charged feud. In this lively and sometimes incendiary conversation, Jason and Nelson dissect the tension between these two artists, exploring everything from Drake's shifting genre versatility and his critics' accusations of being a "culture vulture," to Kendrick's status as a lyrical genius and a hip-hop icon whose music often offers a history lesson. As the discussion heats up, the professors debate the greater sociopolitical implications of their rivalry, touching on themes of class, power, and representation in modern music. Whether you're firmly in one camp or just curious about what all the fuss is about, this episode will leave you with a deeper appreciation for hip-hop, rap, and black culture. Tune in for an academic yet passionate exploration of the ultimate Diss'course. Join the conversation! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode. Reach out via email at putemonthecouch@gmail.com, or leave a comment on Apple or Spotify to share your take on the Drake vs Kendrick debate.

Prevalence of pharmacotherapy for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and prescription stimulant misuse: A national study of US college students Addiction This is an observational study using cross-sectional data from the American College Health Association–National College Health Assessment III. It measured the association between university-level prevalence of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medication treatment and prevalence of prescription stimulant misuse (PSM) among college students. Among university students in the United States, there appears to be a positive association between attending universities with a greater prevalence of ADHD medication treatment and risk of prescription stimulant misuse (PSM). This study provides further support for the possibility that ADHD medication treatment prevalence is a risk factor for PSM. Read this issue of the ASAM Weekly Subscribe to the ASAM Weekly Visit ASAM

Having a sports scholarship to a U.S. university has been a transformative opportunity for many athletes worldwide, offering unique paths for personal and professional growth. However, talent alone isn't enough, as Tyler Hollingsworth from Sable International told BizNews in an interview. Strong academic performance is crucial, he emphasised, adding that even a prodigy like Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't gain entry to a prestigious school without good grades. He noted that sports such as swimming, golf, and tennis are where many South African athletes go abroad, thanks to coaches with strong institutional connections and a good understanding of the process. Hollingsworth stressed the importance of considering such a move early in one's academic career. While parents often discourage social media, it can be advantageous when applying for a US college athlete scholarship, as it helps attract the attention of coaches. Hollingsworth, who earned a finance degree in the US while playing football, started a company to help students follow in his footsteps and joined Sable International earlier this year. Three students from his programme have competed in the Olympics, and he has secured over a billion rand in academic and sports scholarships for students.

Student debt has gotten very, very, high. Students go to college, have fun, work hard and end up 50–60–100 thousand dollars in debt (plus interest). Worse it has become impossible to manage this debt through good old fashioned capitalism, where in the 1970s one could work of a year of tuition, housing, and textbooks with 480 hours of work per year (a nice full time summer job), now a student would need to work over 2,000 hours just for the tuition (never mind textbooks or the housing), a nearly impossible feat for a full time student even when a job can be found. I have been involved for most of my life in a competitive or coaching role. I achieved my highest ATP ranking 437 singles, and low 200's doubles whilst in my 30's. The beautiful game has taken me all over Australia and the world, with coaching stints in Malaysia, China, Canada, and Europe. The challenges of relationships and tennis are intertwined and that is what I find so much fun."
“I spoke a lot with Wolfsburg's front office about Kevin Paredes before they signed him. He's a guy that I played with together in DC, I know his work ethic and I'm happy that now he's been starting in the team after a year and a half”.Herc had a candid conversation with Julian Gressel, an American-German midfielder currently playing with Inter Miami after recently winning the MLS Cup with Columbus Crew. They discussed Julian's early days as a footballer in Germany, his experience in the US College system, and how it feels playing with Lionel Messi. Plus, Julian is now a podcaster, and he explained why he enjoys doing it so much.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Jo Fretwell from the International Schools Partnership joins EAB's Adam Wu to talk about how her team uses Global Match to help international students engage with US colleges that fit their interests and aptitudes. The two discuss how students use the platform, ways that students and colleges benefit, and how the matching process yields bona fide offers of acceptance without requiring students to submit an application. They also offer tips to other international schools that may be looking to provide more effective support to students looking to study at universities outside their country of origin.
