Riley's request for a documentary about two legendary brothers who became Walt Disney's personal staff songwriters in the 1960s. Over the course of their illustrious decades-spanning careers, they composed such all-time classic beloved evergreen masterpieces as "Fidelity Feduciary Bank," "Let's Put It Over with Grover," "The Boomps Song" and of course "Detroit." But beneath those hummable earworms, all was not well for Richard and Robert, for theirs is a story that involves bitter personality clashes, familial estrangement, post-traumatic stress disorder and songs with titles like "Rutabega Rag," "The Ugly Bug Ball," "A Most Befuddling Thing," "Va-Va-Va-Veee (For Victory)," "Don't Shoot the Hooey to Me, Louie," "Protocoligorically Correct," "The BunnyBee Song," "Dolly Of PaPali," "Kiddy-Widdy-Winkies" and yes those song titles are all real. This week's Theme Park News: - Halloween Horror nights in both Hollywood and Orlando kicked off this week, with a highlight being the Mini Puft S'more which is a S'more shaped like the Stay Puft Marshmallow man for Ghostbusters. - Disney announced today that it will debut a new Disney Villains-themed show at Disney's Hollywood Studios next summer, which will take the place of Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy which closed on October 7. The new show themed to the Magic Mirror, the new production "will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers, with fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent each breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers," according to Walt Disney World's announcement. - Walt Disney World has revealed that today will be the final day for the virtual queue on its TRON roller coaster at the Magic Kingdom. Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind are now going to be the only attractions at Walt Disney World with Virtual Queues. - Disney has also confirmed that the construction of the new Avengers attractions will result in "the removal of the backstage Red Car Trolley barn and, as such, we will discontinue operation of the attraction in early 2025" - At Disneyland, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh has re-opened on Thursday as the park's Critter Country land prepares to be transformed into Bayou Country, when Tiana's Bayou Adventure opens in November. - November 15, the date that Tiana's will open will also mark the start of the holiday festivities across Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. This year's festivities inclue the It's a Small World Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday overlays, as well as the Christmas Fantasy Parade, as well as the Believe... in Holiday Magic fireworks show. - Universal Orlando have given us more details this week on the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride coming to the Universal Epic Universe park, including our first look at the "Metro-Floo" hallway which is the entry for the ride. - Universal Orlando has announced that Death Eaters will return to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida for select nights starting August 29 and continuing through November 3, as an unofficial part of Halloween Horror Nights. - The Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe and Sanrio Smile Shop opened on Friday at Universal Studios Hollywood's CityWalk. - Warner Bros. Discovery has combined their current Global Themed Entertainment licensing group and the Studio Tours & Retail division into a single unit called the Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences division. It will be overseen by Simon Robinson, Chief Operating Officer of WBD Studio. - Efteling in the Netherlands has announced that a new Aquanura show, which will debut this winter, will feature a new score as well as four new eight-meter "Beacons of Light" around the park's central lagoon.

The attraction is the same boat voyage through many regions of the world, though the main theme song is not played fully. Instead, the children sing "Jingle Bells" and a bridge of "Deck the Halls" in addition to the main theme. What happens when you take the magic of Disney and the magic of Christmas and combine them? You get Disney for the holidays. Our friend and Disney travel expert Krystin Turner is here today to talk about some of the cool things that are available from Disney during the holiday and Christmas season. She has stayed at all of the resorts and has extensive knowledge about Disneyland, Disney World, and Disney Cruises. We were lucky enough to have Krystin as our guest on season one of the podcast when we talked about creating a unique Disney experience. Going to a Disney park or on a Disney cruise is something our family has talked about for years. Krystin is a Disney travel expert from Dreams Unlimited Travel and she shares the ins and outs of the different venues, special holiday features at the resorts, entertainment, decorations, costumes, and treats. She also talks about snowing on main street during the parade, The Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion, the best time to go, the best time to book, and more. Show Notes: [01:48] Krystin Turner is a vacation planner from Dreams Unlimited Travel. She helps plan Disney vacations anywhere from cruise lines to Disney World and Disneyland. She can help with every aspect of the trip. [03:31] Christmas time is the best time to go to any Disney destination. Disney starts decorating for the holidays on the 1st of November. [03:57] The Christmas party at the Magic Kingdom is one of Krystin's favorite things to do. It's a limited ticket after hours event. There's a Christmas parade and treats are included. The characters are in costume and it even snows on Main Street. [05:20] All of the resorts are decorated and every park has a giant Christmas tree. There's even a real gingerbread house with edible shingles. [05:54] Krystin has stayed at all of the Walt Disney World Resorts. She stayed at Wilderness Lodge over the holidays, but most resorts have great holiday activities and themes. [07:31] The Christmas party has different treats including cookies, hot chocolate, and specialty offerings. [09:26] At Disneyland the castle lights up and Disney California Adventures has decorations and the festival of holidays. They also have It's a Small World Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday. They change the lighting and decorations and even the scent. The mansion becomes The Nightmare Before Christmas themed mansion. [11:46] The Christmas parade is twice a day, and you don't need special tickets. [12:21] Special snacks change every year. [13:26] Disney cruises have something for everyone. Even though the trips are more expensive, a lot of things are included and you end up spending less while on board. [15:05] Disney cruises have high-level entertainment and first-run movies. [15:36] During the holidays, all the characters are dressed in Christmas attire. There's a tree lighting ceremony. The whole ship is decorated beautifully. There's a Santa Claus meet and greet and story time with Mrs. Claus and of course the gingerbread house. [17:55] A Disney cruise is definitely more expensive. A Disney cruise is a lot more relaxing than a Disneyland or Disney World experience. [19:54] The week of Christmas is the most crowded and expensive time to go. If you're planning a trip, go the first week of December. [21:21] The earlier you book the better. Book the day the cruise is released. Book Disney World a 180 days in advance and Disneyland is a little more flexible. [22:21] The further out you plan, the more relaxing it is and the easier it is to get those dinner reservations that you want. Today is the last day to experience the Holidays in The Parks, so if you have yet to experience it or want one last day of the food, merch, parades & Holiday Fireworks, today is the day. Tomorrow, January 7th will be the beginning of some ride closures. It's a Small World Holiday closes tomorrow and will return to the original January 18th. Snow White Scary Adventures will also close tomorrow for refurbishment and upgrades, no date yet as to when it will return. Hyperspace Mountain will also close tomorrow and will reopen Wednesday, January 8th to its original version. Attention AP's! Happy Wednesday, October 23rd Everyone! Weather in the parks today will be sunny with a high of 90 degrees. Park hours today, Disneyland will be open from 8 am - 11 pm and DCA 8 am - 9 pm. Happy Anniversary to Disney's 4th Animated Feature Film, DUMBO. Dumbo premiered on this day in the year 1941 at the Broadway Theater in New York City. Also on this day in the year 2011, ABC-TV premiered the Fairytale Drama series, Once Upon a Time. In Park news, It looks as though the Holiday season is Making an Early appearance. Our Beautiful Castle is already showing Snow and Christmas Merch has begun to hit the parks. In more Park news, It's a Small World has closed for refurbishment as it transforms into its Seasonal Overlay and will return on November 8th as It's a Small World Holiday.

Today in the year 1951, Disney's animated classic Alice in Wonderland had its world premiere in London, England. New Ear Hat Alert! Releasing today in the parks & on Shop Disney, From the Disney Parks Designer Collection, “It was all started by a mouse” designed by Noah Fine Art. Disney just announced Christmas in July. With that, we now know what to expect at the parks this holiday season, Including new holiday merch. Things we have to look forward to are: Festival of Holidays, Viva Navidad and World of Color Season of Light all in DCA. And in Disneyland, Our Beautifully decorated Castle, Holiday decor & Snowfall, It's a Small World Holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday Overlays. The Christmas Fantasy Parade & Believe in Holiday Magic Fireworks. The Christmas season will begin November 8th through January 6th.

It's a Small World Holiday has officially ended and is currently being transformed back to its original form. It's A Small World is set to return February 1st. In More Park News, We finally know what happened to the famous Teacup photo opp in Fantasyland. According to a couple Cast Members, it's currently getting a New Look and should be back to its original spot within the next week or 2. With all the Exciting Events currently happening right now in the parks with Get Your Ears On, Valentine's Day and in just 2 short days, Lunar New Year...there is an Endless amount of Food, Treats & Merch that you won't want to miss out on, so make sure you grab your Food & Merch Guides while in the parks. On the 12th day of Christmas, Sams Disney Diary gave to me, Disneyland Small World Holiday. Absolutely amazing, a remarkable holiday overlay to a classic Disneyland attractions that just keeps me wanting more. From Santa Clause to traditional holiday settings throughout the attraction along with a few Disney characters.
