It was a long-shot bet on liquid natural gas, but it paid off handsomely — and turned the United States into a leading fossil-fuel exporter. The journalist Jake Bittle delves into the storied career of Charif Souki, the Lebanese American entrepreneur whose aptitude for risk changed the course of the American energy business. The article outlines how Mr. Souki rose from being a Los Angeles restaurant owner to becoming the co-founder and chief executive of Cheniere Energy, an oil and gas company that specialized in liquefied natural gas, and provides an insight into his thought process: “As Souki sees it,” Mr. Bittle writes, “the need to provide the world with energy in the short term outweighs the long-term demand of acting on carbon emissions.”In a time of acute climate anxiety, Mr. Souki's rationale could strike some as outdated, even brazen. The world may be facing energy and climate crises, Mr. Souki told The New York Times, “but one is going to happen this month, and the other one is going to happen in 40 years.”“If you tell somebody, ‘You are going to run out of electricity this month,' and then you talk to the same person about what's going to happen in 40 years,” he said, “they will tell you, ‘What do I care about 40 years from now?'”This story was written by Jake Bittle and recorded by Audm. The Russia-Ukraine standoff has significant implications for the global gas and LNG markets, given Europe's reliance on Russian supply. It's peak winter demand season, and European gas inventories have been falling daily. Gas in storage stands at about 40% full, versus 53% full at the same time a year ago. The Biden administration said last week it was working with European allies to find additional natural gas supplies from North Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and the US in the event military conflict breaks out and Russian flows get disrupted. Platts Atlantic LNG senior editor Harry Weber spoke with Charif Souki, executive chairman of US liquefaction terminal developer Tellurian, about the current state of the LNG market and whether the US dialogue can make a difference. Souki co-founded and formerly served as CEO of Cheniere Energy, the biggest US LNG exporter. At Tellurian, he is developing Driftwood LNG, an up to 27.6 million mt/year export facility in Louisiana. Stick around after the interview for Starr Spencer with the Market Minute, a look at near-term oil market drivers.

Today we are examining the outlook for new North American liquefaction projects to be sanctioned in 2021 amid a virtual standstill in 2020. The recent runup in the Platts JKM has buoyed developers, but challenges remain. S&P Global Platts natural writer Harry Weber spoke with Charif Souki, co-founder and executive chairman of Tellurian, which is proposing to build an export facility in Louisiana. Souki also co-founded Cheniere Energy, the biggest LNG exporter in the US.

Cannabis became legal in Canada on October 17th 2018, for both medicinal and recreational purposes. Canada is the second country in the world, after Uruguay, to formally legalize the cultivation and consumption of the plant and its bi-products. The government of Canada has put a tremendous amount of resources in the regulation of both medicinal and recreational use of the plant. We have become a pioneering country in the transition to a safe and healthy cannabis consumption, and we are proud to set an example for the rest of the world. However, there are still many aspects of the cannabis industry that most people don't know about and this is why at Schmooze and Booze, we decided to invite an industry expert to share her valuable knowledge and perspective on Cannabis legalization in Canada. “Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.” - Bob MarleyTwitter for Emerald Health Therapeutics: https://twitter.com/emeraldhealthcaInstagram for Schmooze & Booze: https://www.instagram.com/schmooze_booze/Canadian Government Website: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/health/campaigns/cannabis.html
Charif Souki, Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Tellurian, assesses the state of LNG in 2020 and examines the developments that are shaping the industry over the long-term. Is the natural gas trade converging into a single global market? Which projects and suppliers are best positioned to dominate market share? What will be the profile of the next wave of U.S. LNG projects? Will LNG broker a detente between the U.S. and China? In this CERAWeek Conversation with IHS Markit Vice Chairman Daniel Yergin, Souki explores these issues and discusses the future of LNG.

Before we start, we aren’t saying that we are more important to national morale than Captain Tom Moore’s fundraising attempts. To have the gall to claim that our new music podcast is more beneficial to the psyche of Britain, than a hundred-year-old war veteran’s incredible raising of tens of millions of pounds for frontline workers, would be at best churlish and at worst insulting. We would never say that. However…Coming up this week we have more great bands than you can shake a proverbial stick at: Gaygirl? Check! Laundromat? Check! Mellah? You better believe that’s a check! All that plus tons more, so you can find your new favourite band. Thank us later.Sandwiched between the amazing new music and ropey juvenile chat, we have the sweetest filling possible in the form of an interview with the legendary Felix White of Yala records and The Maccabees. Listen to Nathan franticly pretend he is cool and knows what he is talking about whilst they discuss the past, present and future of Yala records, as well as so so much more good stuff.Did Captain Tom Moore host a new music podcast with Felix on it? Just saying… See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

soundenthusiast souki discovered her passion for minimal music back in 2002 in kassel's well known club a.r.m. few years later she decided to develop her own music supported by "der schmeisser". result of this collaboration was her first vinyl "4 faces" , which was licensed for time warp compilation 2009 (mixed and compiled by marco carola) and got rave feedback in the media. de:bug wrote: dries...t and weirdest minimal sound of the year! after moving to berlin she released her second vinyl "monkey sun". de:bug reviewed: monkey sun is her personal hymn and her manifest in electronic music! next was "enchante" on the upcoming frankfurt label "two birds records". this track was also part of the monthly appearing de:bug cd (9'2010)! In 2013 she released her „spotlights ep“ on appendix shuffles label „adjunct audio“. souki worked out her live concept in same perfectionism way like her studio work: instead of mixing final tracks into each other she is producing her pumpy sound using single channels. the result is a creative performance with maximum pressure in the club. first station was switzerlands sophisticated hidden club, where the perlon rooster are playing regulary! actually souki is working on music using weird and organic sounds packed in a deep and slow groove. Actually she is also part of the berlin label „pfand“ where she released her „hot jupiter ep“ in 2017 on vinyl.

Artist: Nick VCTitle: December PromoDate: December 3rd 2009Genre: Tech House, TechnoKnown for his twisted antics, quick wit and uncanny ability to charm and offend everyone in his path, Nick VC's sets echo his tendency to make you laugh or cry. This funky little number was inspired by the two weeks he spent in New York City running in the annual marathon, trick-or-treating and studying to become the world's next financial mastermind, followed by a birthday weekend in Berlin (where else?). Originally from Johannesburg, Nick was self-schooled between the brick-and-mortar of Georgetown's legendary 32-Q basement before developing his taste and talent in London. Here "El Señor de los Platos" offers a serving of his delectable home cooking that's a sure finger-licker for every palate. He tastefully integrates a Malian jazz duo, an Ethiopian arranger, and his favorite Willy Wonka scene into the recipe. While this gobstopper is not everlasting, it bounces back and forth between sweet, sour and hard tech-house grooves. Deaf Co. is extremely grateful to Nick for taking time out of his busy schedule to give us this gem.
