Today on Window Treatments for Profit In Part 4 of the WWLD series, LuAnn Nigara breaks down how window treatment business owners unknowingly become the bottleneck and the one decision that restores time, clarity, and control. In this episode of Window Treatments for Profit, we continue the WWLD January series with Decision #4: Remove One Operational Bottleneck That Wastes Time Every Week. This is not about working harder or hiring faster. It's about recognizing where you, as the owner, may be unintentionally slowing the business down. LuAnn walks through real-world scenarios that window treatment business owners experience every day: Orders delayed because the sale moved on but the backend didn't Installer details living in the owner's head instead of a system Schedule chaos caused by missing handoffs Sales teams and admins doing their best without clear processes Drawing lessons from candid conversations on A Well-Designed Business with Rebecca Hay, Beth Diana Smith, and Hilaire Pickett Martin, LuAnn connects the dots between anxiety, resistance, and leadership responsibility. You'll learn: Why owner-operators often become the bottleneck without realizing it How undocumented processes quietly erode profit, trust, and time Why resistance to systems isn't about being busy—it's about fear How removing just one bottleneck can immediately restore control If your business relies on your memory, constant involvement, or last-minute fixes, this episode will hit close to home. This is CEO-level thinking for window treatment professionals who want fewer fires, clearer systems, and a business that runs well—even when they're not in the room. Business Coaching Secrets

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 6, 2026 61:55

In this energetic episode of Business Coaching Secrets, Karl Bryan and Rode Dog dig deep into the mindsets, frameworks, and daily practices that separate the world's best coaches and entrepreneurs from the rest. Through rapid-fire "word association," Karl reveals actionable insights for productivity, building a powerful personal brand, becoming an ideal mentor, and thinking like legends such as Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerburg. Whether you're wondering why most coaches fail or how to stop making unforced errors, this episode is stacked with real-world advice for coaches ready to upgrade their business and impact. Key Topics Covered The To-Do List Trap and Productivity Hacks Karl explains why most people never complete their to-do list and how focusing on just three critical tasks each day—especially before 10 AM—can 10x productivity and happiness. He urges coaches to build "done lists," embrace the 80/20 rule, and set high-leverage priorities. Amateur vs. Pro: The Mindset Shift Karl breaks down how professionals obsess over what could go wrong, practice to improve (not just to practice), and invest in personal development as the ultimate asset—channeling wisdom from Warren Buffett to Tom Brady. Rules of Business and Coaching From Warren Buffett's investing rules to Karl's "two rules of business" (get clients, keep clients), the hosts link real-world examples to a simple guiding framework. Coaches are reminded that keeping clients is even more vital than getting them. The Ideal Mentor Karl introduces three coach archetypes—Hider, Winger, and Installer. The most successful mentors don't just pile on tasks but help clients cut through noise and focus on what not to do, providing systems, accountability, and transformation over mere motivation. Learning from the Great Entrepreneurs Insights from Bezos, Musk, and others show that solving bigger problems, operating as if you're always 30 days from going out of business, and having a compelling North Star all lead to outsized success. Avoiding Unforced Errors Business is a game of minimizing mistakes, from "stupid taxes" to client audits using the 80/20 rule. Whether in the Super Bowl or business, those who avoid unforced errors typically win. Why Most Coaches Fail Instead of acting with conviction and serving business owners directly, many coaches waste productivity hanging out with other coaches, lack clarity, or never truly commit. The Power of a North Star and Personal Brand From Elon Musk's Mars mission to Gary Vee's obsession with attention, a powerful vision attracts results. Karl discusses practical personal branding in the social media era and why "who knows you" outweighs "who you know." Notable Quotes "Remember, a real mentor can tell you what NOT to do." "Amateurs talk, pros listen. Amateurs want to make it, pros want to keep it." "If you really want to feel productive… create a 'done list' versus a to-do list and get your top three done by 10am." "If you can't make fast buying decisions, you won't attract people who make fast buying decisions." "You don't need more motivation. What you need is less options." Actionable Takeaways Network where your clients are: Spend 80% of your outreach time in the spaces business owners frequent, not just talking shop with other coaches. Prioritize and narrow your focus: Each day, pick your top three high-leverage actions before adding anything else. Success compounds through focus and execution. Think in mental models: Apply the 80/20 rule, "what could go wrong?", and profit-driven frameworks to decision-making and client strategy. Build your personal brand deliberately: It's not just what you know or who you know, it's who knows you. Be visible, use social media strategically, and craft a clear message. Become an Installer, not a Winger: Develop systems your clients can implement and show them where to look, not what to see. Hold yourself and others accountable for action. Imitate the greats with your North Star: State your dream and mission boldly. Big claims lead to big impact, clarity, and opportunities. Minimize unforced errors: Audit your client list for profitability, avoid busywork, and learn from athletes: controlling mistakes wins championships (and businesses). Choses à Savoir
Pourquoi sous-estimons nous certains dangers ?

Choses à Savoir

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 4, 2026 1:56

It's the third Torque Up festive special, but this year the tinsel takes a back seat and the lads go deep on the technical question hitting installs up and down the country:Can a Type 2 SPD rely on an upstream service fuse for overcurrent protection, or must it have a dedicated protective device within the installer's control? The sparks' sentiment in the room is clear:manufacturer thermal ratings are part of the product design, but they do not guarantee compliance under BS 7671 if there is no dedicated, testable, local overcurrent protective device protecting the SPD as part of the installation.

Episode Overview This episode dives deep into the evolving solar landscape—covering key state-level policy battles, rising resistance to distributed solar, the latest federal tax package in Congress, and the long term trends in the solar industry. Fox Swim, Senior Solar Industry Researcher at Aurora Solar, shares expertise on policy, utility rates, and resiliency-minded markets.   Key Themes & Highlights Aurora Solar & Fox's Expertise Aurora provides industry-leading solar design and sales software globally.   State-Level Anti-Solar Trends Utilities favor centralized generation, clashing with distributed energy advocates.   California's AB 942 aims to end grandfathered NEM/NEM 2 contracts when homes are sold, pushing owners into less favorable NEM 3 tariffs—effectively breaking existing contracts.   Resiliency & Distributed Generation Extreme weather, aging grid infrastructure, and power instability are driving demand for solar + storage. Distributed generation is seen as a smarter, faster, and more resilient solution than central utility models. Virtual battery programs in states like Connecticut are emerging as positive examples.   Federal Tax Bill & IRA Disruptions The recent House tax bill introduces critical threats:   Elimination of IRA incentives (including ITC, storage, and battery credits). “Fiat” sourcing restrictions targeting Chinese-manufactured solar components, potentially nullifying battery and panel subsidies. Fox warns of an unplanned “solar winter” where many small players may fold, though core demand won't vanish. Emphasis is shifting toward resilience and independence—not just ROI.   2025 Aurora Solar Snapshot Insights (Backed by Aurora's data on ~12.5 million projects, surveys of 1,000+ homeowners, 1,000 professionals, and 500+ businesses) Resilience over ROI: 76% of homeowners view solar as a good investment (up from 43% in 2023)  Financing shifts: Third‑party ownership (leases/PPAs) are growing; battery demand surges with 78% installers seeing increased interest  Bipartisan appeal: Solar cuts across party lines—Republicans, Democrats, and Independents all value solar and IRA  Trust challenges: Installer mistrust doubled—44% of homeowners find trustworthy companies hard to identify  Motivations revealed: Top drivers: bill savings, energy independence, environmental impact (>50% cite environment as a top-3 reason)    Tactical Takeaways for Mavericks Strengthen Trust – Improve transparency and contract clarity; be proactive about ethical sales practices. Refocus Messaging – Highlight solar + storage for resilience and independence—especially in disaster-prone regions. Engage Politically – Contact local/state reps, especially around bills like North Carolina's ITC reinstatement. Diversify Revenue – Build resilience offerings or pivots like community solar and virtual battery programs. Advocacy & Data – Join efforts with industry groups (SEIA, ACORE), and use Aurora's regional data in policymaker discussions.   Quotes from the Interview “76% of homeowners now say solar is a smart investment—it used to be 43%!”   “Installer trust has tanked: 44% of homeowners find it hard to pick a dependable provider.”   “Solar isn't just about ROI anymore—it's energy independence and resilience.”   Benoy Thanjan Benoy Thanjan is the Founder and CEO of Reneu Energy and he is also an advisor for several solar startup companies.  He has extensive project origination, development, and financial experience in the renewable energy industry and in the environmental commodities market.   This includes initial site evaluation, permitting, financing, sourcing equipment, and negotiating the long-term energy and environmental commodities off-take agreements. On episode 295 of Business Coaching Secrets with Karl Bryan, Karl explores flywheels, business models, and more! If you're focused on building a thriving coaching business (and who isn't, right?), this episode is packed with wisdom you can put to work immediately. Here are my top 3 takeaways you don't want to miss: Stop “Winging It”—Embrace Modeling Over Trial & Error: Trial and error may sound entrepreneurial, but Karl makes a strong case that it's an expensive and inefficient approach. Instead, seek out proven models. Reverse engineer what works for the most successful companies or coaches, install those systems, and THEN fine-tune for your style. Upgrade Your Coaching Level—Become an Installer: Karl identifies three tiers of coaches: Hiders (those playing it safe), Wingers (those improvising), and Installers (those using proven, duplicatable systems). The real secret? Make it your mission to become an Installer. These are the coaches who retain clients for the long haul because they offer predictable, results-focused processes. Think in Flywheels for Real Growth: Instead of chasing one-off wins, visualize your business as a flywheel—a model where each win builds momentum for the next. From acquiring leads to converting revenue to scaling profits, when you focus on systems that create compounding results, your growth accelerates sustainably. If you haven't tuned in yet, highly recommend checking it out for a full dose of actionable strategies and motivation to kickstart your week! Ready to elevate your coaching business? Don't wait!
