PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Were action movies better in the 80s and 90s? Was the series against the Phillies just a ‘bump in the road' for the Pirates? How bad is the Buccos bullpen? Do the guys think Carmen Mlodzinski should go to the ‘pen when Jared Jones is back? How much different will the Steelers offense look? Do Donny and Chris deserve to be mad about Poni not sharing his betting nugget before winning big on the PGA Championship?
New Steelers OC Brian Angelichio spoke to the media earlier today, and even though he will be a figurehead in his position with Mike McCarthy truly running the offense, is there reason to feel more optimistic about the Steelers offense in 2026? We are outside of the shell we've known for 2 decades that could allow the offense to open up a bit more than we have seen in the last few years. Is there reason for optimism? Will Aaron Rodgers trust the system? Is there reason to believe the Steelers offense will be a lot better in 2026? PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Later, Martin and Monse move over to the NBA, reacting to Anthony Edwards essentially conceding defeat with 8 minutes to go in the Timberwolves' elimination game against the Spurs... Do we see it as good sportsmanship or bad sportsmanship? Speaking of the Spurs, how much of a chance so we give them against the surging Thunder? The Steelers have placed a rarely-used tender on Aaron Rodgers. The move gives the Steelers security in the entire situation. If Rodgers were to sign with another team, it would give the Steelers a compensatory pick in next year's draft. This also provides Rodgers with the incentive of a small raise, but he's pretty much locked to the Steelers unless he chooses to retire. If this was so ‘set in stone' like most of the Steelers media wants us to believe, why did they do this? The guys think it's a bit curious. And a shout out to Mike DeFabo for pointing out that this was definitely not part of the Steelers plan. It sounds even more confusing than last year. Is the Rodgers retirement starting to build momentum HOCKEY TALK! The Penguins beat the Flyers to extend the series to Game 6 tomorrow night in Philly. After facing a 3-0 deficit, what are the chances the Pens can win this series in 7? One of the producers here, that is a Flyers fan, jumped on everyone when Philly went up 3-0 in the series. How is he feeling right now? Mullsy is still picking the Penguins to lose thinking it could work as a reverse-jinx. PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Are Nick and Rob in approval of Poni being rehired by The Fan yesterday, less than an hour after quitting? The guys believe the Penguins will force a Game 7 against the Flyers. Flyers beat the Penguins 3-0 last night at PPG Paints Arena to take a 2-0 series lead with the games going back to Philadelphia. Are the Penguins finished? Who is to blame? Poni thinks it's a hard conversation to have, but people have to throw some blame on Sidney Crosby for how things have gone in the first two games. How much goes on Dan Muse? The Flyers are punking the Penguins so far. What is the Penguins biggest issue in the first 2 games of the series so far? PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Penguins and Flyers is officially set for the opening round of the NHL playoffs. It's been 4 seasons since we have seen the Pens make it to the postseason and we get the battle of Pennsylvania off the bat. Do we still hate the Flyers? Is it more about hating their fans? They don't have guys like Scott Hartnell or Claude Giroux or Daniel Briere anymore. How do we feel about this matchup? Chris thinks the Penguins will take the series in 5 or 6 games and that idea worries Poni – because nobody out there is willing to pick the Flyers. Will Sidney Crosby continue his dominance over the team in Philadelphia? Poni said he can't say a bad word about Rick Tocchet because he once invited him to a Stanley Cup party. We heard Rick Tocchet make a few comments on how he feels about playing the Penguins in the playoffs as the opposing coach. It all comes down to Game 82 for Elmer Soderblom to score his 5th goal with the team. Is he going to get it done for Donny? The schedule for this series could be wonky since the Flyers and 76ers share an arena and both teams are in the playoffs at the same time. PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. The guys noticed that Nick and Chris had the same shirt on today. Would Nick make the trip to Philly for a Pens-Flyers playoff game? Nick believes Oneil Cruz is bound for an All Star nod given his start to 2026. Is the Stanley Cup the best title in sports and are the NHL playoffs the best in sports? Nick said Mullsy is going to throw a strike on Friday night at PNC Park.

Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. Is it a big deal that Fernando Mendoza is not attending the NFL Draft? Is Konnor Griffin OK despite his slow start? Did the Pirates make a mistake choosing Marcell Ozuna over Andrew McCutchen? Is The Masters the best sporting event in the month of April? Who is worse in the outfield – Bryan Reynolds or Oneil Cruz?
The Penguins are 2 points away from clinching a playoff berth for the first time since 2022. They also made some news today by calling up Sergey Murashov. Is he going to get sent right back down or should he get a chance to be this team's goaltender in the playoffs? Arturs Silovs and Stuart Skinner have been limping to the finish line, with Skinner coming off injury. Is this the same debate we had 10 years ago when Matt Murray was too good to deny for the Penguins in their quest for a Stanley Cup. Poni is worried that this dream, out-of-nowhere season is going to be spoiled by bad goaltending in the postseason. Is it fair to criticize the Penguins if they screw this up and it ruins their season? Is Sergey Murashov being considered as anything more than an ‘in-case of emergency' option? Later, Martin and Monse react to a series of questionable moments among umpires in the MLB over the past week, debating whether we could be seeing the beginning of ABS eventually taking over full time. Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. The guys asked Nick about the Tiger Woods situation and Tiger's defense that he was ‘just looking at his phone' before rolling his vehicle last Friday. Should we be worried about Bryan Reynolds or is it just another slow start for him? Nick thinks Danny Hurley should have gotten administered a technical foul for contacting an official after the game-winning shot for UConn the other day.
A dominant effort from the Penguins last night, beating the Islanders 8-3 on the road. The Pens are back home tonight as they continue their playoff push. There is now a big question the team faces in the offseason – what do they do with Anthony Mantha? He has 29 goals after a pair last night, but what kind of contract is he looking at? If the contract looks like $30M over 5 years, is there any chance he lives up to it? Is there any chance the Penguins can afford it? Should the Penguins pay Anthony Mantha? Which teams do the Penguins matchup with best in a potential postseason meeting? A few notes on local media members. Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates. They briefly cross over to baseball to share their thoughts on the MLB's new ABS challenge system before returning to the NBA for a big-picture debate: are OKC, San Antonio, and Boston operating in a tier completely of their own right now? The Penguins beat the best team in hockey last night, 7-2 in Colorado. Evgeni Malkin had 2 goals and an assist in his return following the 5-game suspension. Malkin continues to perform on a high level and without Sidney Crosby in the lineup, he is key cog in keeping this thing afloat. Poni had a few points about Geno to start today's show – he's a Top 3 Penguin of all-time, he's on the PGH Sports Mt. Rushmore since 2000, and he deserves an extension after this season. Elmer Soderblom scored his first Penguins goal last night. Do you put Evgeni Malkin on a Mt. Rushmore over Andrew McCutchen? PM Team Sports Court w/ our friends from Edgar Snyder & Associates.
