Salk loved what Bump said Tuesday about the identity of the Seahawks team being the defense. How many years has it been since we've been able to say that? Then, we discuss news about the Raiders, Matt Stafford's injury, Jonathan Gannon's weird press conferences and an Eagles running back responding to social media trolls at halftime in Around the NFL. Plus, Brock has a Ranked for you themed around Lamar Jackson's freaky athleticism.
The Seahawks made a move at the trade deadline to acquire interior defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Did they give up too much considering some of the other moves made around the league for defensive line? We contrast the move with the 49ers acquisition of Chase Young. The move may have come at the perfect time after watching the Browns attack the middle of the field in both the run and the screen game. The defense came up big when they needed to though thanks to the (intentional?) head assist from Jamal Adams. Which Baltimore Ravens team will the Seahawks face this week? One that dominated the Lions just a couple weeks ago? The one that looked like they barely needed to try hard on offense against the Cardinals? Or will they finally be worn down after multiple road trips in the last few weeks? It's going to be another big test for the defense to face off against Lamar, Gus Edwards and tight end Mark Andrews. The Rams are continuing to make their way to the bottom of the NFC West after a big loss to the Cowboys and there is uncertainty around Matt Stafford moving forward with a thumb injury. But even with those concerns, Adam still likes the Rams to beat the Packers this upcoming weekend in our picks segment. A couple of national reporters need to do better based on a couple of articles written this past week. Better at life honors go out to a group for continuing to operate as usual and an NFL player giving the stiff arm to his former team. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Doug McKain of the Locked on Rams podcast for a Crossover Thursday. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams have two of the best defensive players in the NFL in T.J. Watt and Aaron Donald. Their game Sunday could very well come down to which player wrecks their opposing offensive line first, as both the Steelers' and Rams' offensive lines have struggled so far this season to protect Kenny Pickett and Matt Stafford. Could that be the factor that determines a winner? Also, Kenny Pickett finished strong in his last game against the Baltimore Ravens, and now he gets the return of Diontae Johnson and Pat Freiermuth healthy from injury. But will that be enough to finally wake up the offense? Finally, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua have been big playmakers for the Rams' passing offense. And the Steelers' secondary has allowed too many big plays to receivers. Will Patrick Peterson, Joey Porter Jr. and Minkah Fitzpatrick be ready to limit their production? Brett is joined in Hour 1 of this fantastic Monday afternoon by Destin Adams, who covers the Indianapolis Colts for A to Z Sports! The Colts had a heartbreaking loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon in overtime. Brett starts off by asking about the expectations changing for this Colts team, with the fan base now expecting wins in games such as this one. Is that fair to expect this early in a season that has looked better than the last one? Brett also asks Destin for his opinion on what switched the momentum from the first half to the second half, that saw the Colts come back from a 23-0 deficit in the third and fourth quarter and send the game to overtime. Brett is also sure to ask Destin for his opinions on Gus Bradley and the defense of the Colts, and we hear about how Destin thinks Gus's style tends to struggle against quarterbacks like Matt Stafford and offenses like the Rams. Brett also wants to know if Destin agrees with his assessment of the Colts defense being a “fair-weather defense. The two also quickly preview Indy's next game against the fellow AFC South team, the Tennessee Titans. And we hear about how big of a loss CB Dallis Flowers is for the rest of the season with an ACL tear for the Indy team. Also in the Hour, Brett shares his thoughts on the firing of Walt Bell from Indiana Football, the Boilermakers getting a much needed big win over Illinois, and more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Todd, Kellen & Garrett discuss the Dallas Cowboys 30-10 victory over the New York Jets. Through the 1st two weeks of the season the Dallas defense looks incredible! Led by Micah Parsons the Cowboys defense has surged to the top of the NFL. Turnovers, Sacks & QB pressures are what helps make this defense successful. Baker Mayfield looks good through the 1st two weeks, but how long will it last? Some surprises thus far are the teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Anthony Richardson of the Colts, Matt Stafford of the Rams and the Washington Commanders. While we also see struggles coming from Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears, Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, Justin Herbert & the Los Angeles Chargers & the entire Arizona Cardinals organization. Poor Nick Chubb, our prayers are with him for his injury and it couldn't happen to a better guy. Garrett doesn't realize that the NFL has "regional" games and that is why in Oklahoma City we see the Dallas Cowboys every week. Upset of the week: Kellen 1-0 - picked Baltimore over the Cincinnati Bengals Todd 1-0 - picked Pittsburgh over the Cleveland Browns Garrett 0-1- picked Jacksonville over the KC Chiefs Lock of the week: Kellen 1-0 - picked Miami over New England Todd 1-0 - picked Philadelphia over Minnesota Garrett 1-0 - picked New York Giants over Arizona Please subscribe to our YouTube channel! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/foxxdensports/message

The problem with having high expectations going into the season is that just one half of football can make a fan believe that it was all a mirage. Were we drinking the Kool-Aid in the offseason or was Sean McVay and Matt Stafford take advantage of a Week 1 opportunity against Seattle? Time will tell. In the meantime, we explore the Seahawks defensive woes and the lack of an effective pass rush. Both tackles went down to injury and were a big reason for the offensive struggles in the second half. We discuss some things the offense could have done differently against the Rams defense. Injuries will continue to have an impact on the offensive line in Week 2 as 20-year veteran Jason Peters was signed to the practice squad this week. Abe Lucas was moved to injured reserve and will have to miss the next four games at a minimum. Will Charles Cross be next to the IR or can the team somehow manage his foot injury. Looking ahead to the game against the Lions we talk about what has to turn for the Seahawks to bounce back from their disappointing Week 1 performance. In the second half of the show, we talk about one game on the schedule that is guaranteed to help the Seahawks in the NFC West standings, even if we can't decide who to cheer for. Adam offers his bold predictions for the outcome of Week 1 games. The NFL quarterbacks who got paid this offseason need to do better and so do the fans who immediately start calling for Pete Carroll's job after one game. Better at life honors go out to a helpful gameday gadget and to a former Seahawks running back. 2023 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! Fresh off of Sunday Night Football's shocking snoozer, GoJo, Golic, and Jessie are back to recap a weekend full of football. (00:50) Let's start with the Dallas Cowboys 40-0 win over the NY Giants on SNF game. Golic tells us what it was like calling such a lopsided game in the pouring rain. GoJo sympathizes with Daniel Jones who was sacked 7 times last night, but calls Giants fans “sick” who stayed past the 3rd Quarter of this very wet blowout. (15:40) GoJo and Golic look at another shocking result in the Battle for Ohio as a struggling Deshaun Watson led the Browns to yet another win over Joe Burrow and the Bengals. (19:56) MIKE'D UP Monday presented by Wrangler: Jessie helps the guys react to Saints' Head Coach Dennis Allen telling his team he expected to beat Mike Vrabel and the Titans, Jordan Love throwing for 3 touchdowns against the Bears as the Packers move to 1-0 in their post-Aaron Rodgers era, and Sean McVay's comments on Matt Stafford after the Rams upset the Seahawks. (30:08) It's official. The 'backness' of Texas was verified Saturday night in Tuscaloosa after Texas beat Alabama 34-24. Gojo describes what it was like calling the game and why this win means so much for Texas in their last year before joining the SEC. (39:55) Between Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic winning the US Open, College Football's weekend of Thicc Six excellence and Desmond Howard resurrecting the folding chair for his GameDay pick, Gojo and Golic reveal their ALL-WEEKEND team to wrap up Hour 1. The Seattle Seahawks kick off their 2023 campaign with a matchup against the division rival Los Angeles Rams. Even though the NFL tried to do the Rams a favor by pitting them against Seattle to kick off the year, Cooper Kupp may not play in this game due to a hamstring injury. Even if their top wideout sits out, we should learn some things about the Seahawks secondary vs Matt Stafford. Cam Akers rushed for more than 100 yards against the Seahawks defense last year. It gives Bobby Wagner the perfect opportunity to draw a contrast to last year's squad. We'll also learn some things about the Rams if Geno takes the opportunity to go after this young secondary. We also discuss how upset this game could potentially make us if some of our offseason fears are realized. The 49ers could struggle out of the gate if they don't have their top pass rusher signed. Is it possible that the holdout lasts beyond the first two weeks of the season? The Arizona Cardinals are likely to struggle through the entire season and it may be intentional. Our pick'em league overlord lays down the rules for this year's league. You don't want to face the punishment that awaits if you mess up. A former Seahawks player and PFF are in the crosshairs of Do Better. Better at Life honors go out to a member of a division rival, and Adam will make you want to say "awwww." 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! For this one I'm joined by Jake Ellenbogen, who does such an outstanding job covering all things LA Rams, as the Seahawks get set to host their division rival at Lumen Field on Sunday. A lot of these Rams names may not be familiar to you, and they'll be without star WR Cooper Kupp for this week 1 matchup, but some of the things Jake says about this young LA roster may give you pause before you go chalking this up as an easy win for your Seahawks. Who steps up in Kupp's absence? Which version of Cam Akers can we expect? How healthy is Matt Stafford? Is it "Aaron Donald and 10 other dudes" or is there more to this Rams defense? How many games does Jake see the Rams winning (and for a bonus he gives us his Seahawks prediction also.) You may be in for a surprise. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/seahawksforever-danviens/message
