Cheryl Raye Stout as been covering Chicago Sports on radio for over 40 years. She's a pioneer who battled her way through sexism to eventually be heralded as one of the most relentless and respected reporters in town. During the hey days of the Bears in the 80s, she was yelled at by the team for entering their locker room.“The practice was in Lake Forest and we were at the old Halas Hall which was a very small room. That's when you realize you're the only women in that room. I was with that little group as the locker room opened. I started to go in and all of a sudden the team surrounded me and started screaming at me and calling me names!”But then quarterback Jim Harbaugh eventually paved the way for her acceptance. Along the way she constantly had to prove herself during a time when women were forced to do so. But when she was foisted into the role of producing a radio talk show hosted by the popular and late Chet Coppock, Raye Stout became bold booking Dallas Green as the first guest. He was the General Manager of the Cubs and it was a big get for her, the host and her career. Raye Stout cemented her role as a top reporter breaking the news of Michael Jordan's decision to retire and play baseball for the White Sox and then his return to the Bulls. She continues to cover every team and sports event in town for WBEZ, the NPR station and has no desire to retire. There's a good reason for that….she's still on top of her game!"Tell Me A Story I Don't Know" is part of the Last Word on Sports Podcast feed of shows. Kris & David are back with another episode of BTS, discussing the week-plus that was June 28-July 5, 1995. We begin with WCW, as Kevin Sullivan has replaced Ric Flair as the head booker, and we go over the reasons why that happened, with Flair basically having no one to blame but himself. We also talk Eric Bischoff's interview on Chet Coppock's NewSport Talk, which is extremely interesting to look at with hindsight, plus we have the Dave Sullivan's dream date with the Diamond Doll's and Vader entering the Dungeon of Doom.Next, we go international, talking about wrestlers in Japanese politics, Kazuo Yamazaki joining New Japan, Ultimo Dragon & Chris Jericho tearing it up in WAR, Satoru Sayama training a new Tiger Mask, Winners losing his mask in Mexico, and so much more.Next, we return to the United States, where we talk about ECW's first internet convention, featuring a newsworthy house show in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, plus a wild Hardcore Heaven at the ECW Arena, not to mention the 2-hour fan Q&A at the hotel, leads to some great quotes. We also have the SMW/USWA feud heating up in both promotions, including a comparison of how Mark Curtis cut promos in each promotion during the feud. We also talk about one of the biggest wrestling shows of the year that you would never expect. We close with the WWF, where we talk about their lawsuit against Matt Borne regarding his use of the Doink gimmick, Jerry Lawler visiting Dr. Isaac Yankem's office for the first time, Jeff Jarrett's With My Baby Tonight" music video making its debut, and Dave Meltzer questioning the sincerity of the WWF regarding a video feature on their work with the Special Olympics.Another fine episode of Between the Sheets, so you'd better not miss out!!!Timestamps:0:00:00 WCW1:27:46 Eurasia: Japanese politics, AJPW, NJPW, WAR, IWA Japan, Tiger Mask IV debut announcement, AJW, & CWA1:47:18 Latin America: AAA, CMLL, & IWAS Venezuela tour2:06:33 Classic Commercial Break2:09:51 Halftime2:27:33 Other USA: ECW, Fake Big Bubba Rogers, SMW, USWA, Deep South (MS), Ken Resnick, NWC, Mike Tenay, ISW, & Ultimate Warrior3:42:23 WWF4:15:17 Patreon Preview: Someone is trying to play both sides of Rita Chatterton's allegations against Vince McMahon to different TV showsTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron. We start off with WCW, where we talk about Eric Bischoff getting a promotion of sorts and what that meant, as well as the WCW creative structure at the time which was basically Hulk Hogan and everyone else. We also talk about Randy Savage appearing on Chet Coppock's NewSport Talk, Gene Okerlund's hotline shenanigans, and much more in an always entertaining WCW section. We also go international, talking about Keiji Mutoh & Hiroshi Hase winning the IWGP tag titles, AAA being in a state of flux thanks to issues with their U.S. expansion and the death of Art Barr, and more, before coming back to the United States. There, we talk about ECW taping TV in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, Jim Cornette asking to manage The Gangstas in SMW, Paul Alperstein's AWF continuing with its first/forgotten cycle of TV, NWA Dallas drawing their alleged biggest crowd, and much more. We then close with the WWF, where Diesel wins the WWF Title from Bob Backlund at Madison Square Garden after heavy foreshadowing on the TV that aired the day of the show, plus we look at how his persona as champion should've been booked. Chuck Swirsky, is an American-Canadian radio sports announcer. He is the play-by-play voice of the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Swirsky's association with Chicago sports started in 1979 with his WCFL AM 1000 talk show which debuted on August 27 of that year. Outside Chicago, Swirsky called play-by-play for both University of Michigan basketball and football and was formerly the play-by-play voice of the Toronto Raptors. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Swirsky grew up in Bellevue, Washington and is a graduate of Interlake High School. Starting in 1979, Swirsky hosted a nightly sports radio show on WCFL (AM 1000) where he talked Chicago sports with callers. Swirsky then moved to WLUP (The Loop) where he provided afternoon sports updates and hosted a Sunday night sports radio show from 9 to 11 pm through 1981. During this time, Swirsky was named the Chicago Bulls public address announcer from 1980 to 1983. Swirsky next joined WGN radio in 1981 and remained through the mid-1990s. Swirsky hosted various sports talk shows and provided sports updates. While he was with WGN, he also did play-by-play for DePaul games alongside former coach Ray Meyer and also did Chicago Bears pre-game and post-game coverage. He also made frequent appearances on the Bob Collins radio show discussing Chicago sports, with Collins dubbing him "The Swirsk" as a nickname. During his time at WGN, a man dressed as Max Headroom who hijacked a broadcast of Doctor Who made a mocking reference to Swirsky, calling him "a frickin' liberal". Bruce Wolf frequently parodied Swirsky with a fictional character, "Chet Chitchat", which is a blended caricature of Chicago sportscasters Chet Coppock and Swirsky. During his time at WGN Radio, Swirsky filled in as a sports anchor on an occasional basis at WGN-TV.

We have spoken to only three non wrestling persons in the history of our show, but all had an involvement in the industry. Chet Coppock, legendary Chicago sportscaster who worked both as a ring announcer for the then WWF and was also the voice of WWF Radio. Evan Ginzburg, one of the producers of the legendary film "The Wrestler", and now tonight, Matt Cimber, the man behind GLOW. While not seen in front of the camera, Matt's presence was indelable inside the room in the Riviera Hotel where GLOW was taped. As we know by our interviews with the GLOW girls, Matt is still loved and respected by them. In addition to GLOW, Matt has an exceptonal résumé that includes numerous off Broadway productions and films and launched careers other than the women we talk about and to, including Oscar winner Sandy Dennis. We will talk to Matt about all the aspects of his career, including not only GLOW but his upcoming return to the wrestling industry with a new show formatted similar to his beloved GLOW. Please note, as we mentioned last night, Matt does have some memory issues so his recollections might be incomplete or he might repeat some stories, please indulge this legendary gentleman as he is honoring us tonight with his presence.
