Where did our heroes go? This week we saw Anthony Joshua survive two knockdowns to beat Kristian Prenga, and Tim Tszyu defeat Errol Spence Jr in a sad summer pay-per-view. Spence retired after the main event, and Joshua will move into a fight with Tyson Fury, who also fought this weekend (and also looked awful). We talk about Stephen Fulton, the "Cool Boy," missing weight and getting his fight canceled against Liam Wilson, as cool people do. Hamzah Sheeraz looked mid against Simon Zachenhuber. Sheeraz won a vacant title, but are we starting to wonder about his potential and clear favoritism toward his career?  Also, Josh Kelly got his nose busted up, winning a 12-round decision over Caoimhin Agyarko. This week, we have one major card. DAZN in partnership with TNT Sports will return with a lightweight bout between Lamont Roach Jr and William Zepeda. Undercard is a familiar sports drama, but Wanda Sykes delivers a genuinely strong performance that makes it worth watching. The film doesn't ask her to do much in terms of boxing realism, but where it shines is in the emotional weight of her character—grief over losing her son, struggling with sobriety, financial pressure, and trying to be there for her daughter. The relationships feel authentic, especially the mother-son dynamic, and the film's LGBTQ relationship is handled naturally without feeling forced or preachy. Where the movie stumbles is in its predictability and scale. It follows well-worn sports clichés, and despite an ambitious story involving big promoters and title fights, the low-budget visuals never sell that level of importance. The boxing scenes feel small and undercut the stakes.
