This podcast is normally a place to talk movies and streaming shows, but the Olympics provided their own form of drama during the two weeks of the Games that just concluded. You had the 'Quad God' Ilia Malinin falling short of gold. There were the ice dancers — and "Glitter & Gold" stars — Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who took silver following team gold. And there was also Eileen Gu, the American-born freestyle skier competing for China and a major social media influencer. In this week's episode, co-hosts Bruce Miller and Terry Lipshetz talk about the Olympics, their favorite moments, and the Netflix miniseries "Glitter & Gold," which takes viewers behind the scenes and into the world of ice dancing. Miller also shares some of the other shows he's been watching, such as "The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins" with Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, the return of "Scrubs" with Zach Braff, season 3 of "The Night Agent" with Gabriel Basso, and season 2 of "Paradise" starring Sterling K. Brown. Finally, we chat about the full trailer of "The Mandalorian & Grogu," which marks are return to theaters for "Star Wars" when it debuts on May 22. About the show Streamed & Screened is a podcast about movies and TV hosted by Bruce Miller, a longtime entertainment reporter who is the retired editor of the Sioux City Journal in Iowa and Terry Lipshetz, a senior producer for Lee Enterprises based in Madison, Wisconsin. The show was named Best Podcast in the 2025 Iowa Better Newspaper Contest. Theme music Thunder City by Lunareh, used under license from Soundstripe. YouTube clearance: FV694ULMCJQDG0IY

Kay returns to the regular pod this week and (purely by coincidence) Nothing goes quite to plan as our intent to review The Last Thing He Told Me is thwarted by an inconvenient embargo. However, that's okay because we manage to sub Bridgerton season 4 in as a last minute replacement. Elsewhere, we take a look at BBC1's Marian Keyes adaptation The Walsh Sisters, and see what Gabriel Basso is up to in the latest instalment of The Night Agent. Plus James gets terribly excited about the studio's new logo screen (which is finally working) and the team attempt to unpick those rare shows that have successfully reinvented themselves entirely. All that, and Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee joins star Sinéad Keenan to discuss Netflix's How To Get To Heaven From Belfast.

Tony Award–winner Ariel Stachel sits down for a candid and deeply personal conversation about his new Off-Broadway solo show Other. More than just a performance piece, the show is a marathon of vulnerability — exploring identity, anxiety, and the pressure to belong — and Ariel shares how it feels to put his entire self on stage for 90 minutes without a break. We talk about why he treats performing like athletic training, why therapy has become a non-negotiable part of his process, and how he went from hiding his background and struggles to embracing them as the very heart of his art. His honesty about anxiety, identity, and purpose reveals a side of Broadway life we don't often get to see. Ariel Stachel is a Tony and Grammy Award–winning actor, singer, and writer. He won the 2018 Tony Award for his Broadway debut as Haled in The Band's Visit. His screen work includes Zola, Don't Worry Darling, and The Night Agent. With Other, he steps into the role of both writer and performer, bringing his story of identity and belonging to the Greenwich House Theater Off-Broadway. Send us a topic!!!!Ever tried to name your top five movies of all time? The struggle is real, and in this episode, we attempt the impossible while digging into what makes certain films stick with us forever. Our journey begins with a brutally honest take on "Warfare," a film many critics crowned as this year's masterpiece. We break down why this supposedly tension-filled war drama left us completely underwhelmed, questioning whether every true story deserves the big-screen treatment. This sparks a larger conversation about what truly makes a cinematic experience memorable – is it emotional resonance, unexpected storytelling, or something else entirely? The conversation flows naturally into our own movie obsessions, from Sandra Bullock's underrated gem "Murder by Numbers" to beloved classics like "The Bone Collector" and "Cape Fear." We share those comfort films we'd watch on repeat (hello, "Dracula Untold" and "Train to Busan") and why certain actors like Ryan Gosling never quite hit "great" status despite solid performances. Our mutual appreciation for Daniel Craig's James Bond leads to a confession: his portrayal was so perfect that earlier Bond films now feel like pale imitations.Korean productions receive special attention as we celebrate shows like "Night Agent," "All of Us Are Dead," and "Hellbound," examining why international content often takes creative risks American productions shy away from. We even touch on the political implications of overseas filming and why certain countries produce consistently innovative entertainment.Want more recommendations? We've got them – from zombie outbreaks to fantasy worlds, from thrillers to underrated comedies. Drop us a comment with your own impossible top five movie list or tell us if you've watched "Eastbound and Down" yet. Because while we might not always talk movies on this podcast, when we do, we absolutely Talk That Shit.Support the show

“Brother, could you lend me a hand?” (That's a question we'll answer in our White Lotus predictions update at the end of the episode! But first…) The breezy new Netflix comedy Running Point doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a breath of fresh air in a season of tense dramas and cheap thrillers (we're looking at you, The Night Agent). Guest Host Ian Brodsky has watched the whole season and is here to convince you to spend some time with fun characters who constantly get themselves into (and out of) hilarious jams. Of course, modern Netflix shows also have a reputation for being “background TV” but is that really a bad thing? Chris makes the case for the “tell don't show” school of screenwriting. But wait! There's more! Programming news from Peacock, Max, TNT, and TBS (the Turner nets! Remember them?). Plus the strange, sad saga of the new 24/7 Simpsons channel (allegedly) streaming on Disney+. ———
