“Brother, could you lend me a hand?” (That's a question we'll answer in our White Lotus predictions update at the end of the episode! But first…) The breezy new Netflix comedy Running Point doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a breath of fresh air in a season of tense dramas and cheap thrillers (we're looking at you, The Night Agent). Guest Host Ian Brodsky has watched the whole season and is here to convince you to spend some time with fun characters who constantly get themselves into (and out of) hilarious jams. Of course, modern Netflix shows also have a reputation for being “background TV” but is that really a bad thing? Chris makes the case for the “tell don't show” school of screenwriting. But wait! There's more! Programming news from Peacock, Max, TNT, and TBS (the Turner nets! Remember them?). Plus the strange, sad saga of the new 24/7 Simpsons channel (allegedly) streaming on Disney+. ———
Today's episode features a candid and insightful conversation with actress Arienne Mandi, diving into the highs and lows of her acting journey. Mandi shares the serendipitous story of landing a manager at the mall and the hustle of building a career with guest star roles that led to series regular roles on The L Word: Generation Q and The Night Agent. She discusses the differences between self-taped and in-person auditions, the intense audition process for The L Word, and how she prepares for complex roles by exploring a character's socioeconomic background and mental state. Beyond auditions, Mandi gives an inside look at on-set life, from working with guest directors to navigating intimacy scenes in a supportive environment. She shares hilarious audition stories, advice on staying adaptable in Zoom chemistry reads, and reflections on being a multi-ethnic actress in the industry. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Arienne Mandi right here. We're phoning it in this week (in a good way) with guest host Ian Brodsky joining Chris to review the premier-slash-return of John Mulaney's old-school Hollywood talk show meets… talk radio call-in show? We'll explain what's going on with Netflix's latest foray into weekly live programming: Everybody's Live with John Mulaney. But first! HBO delivers a belated eulogy for The Franchise… … while Danny McBride delivers a surprise period piece for the Righteous Gemstones season opener (featuring a legitimately surprising guest star). Sportspocalypse returns with exciting news from your Olympics overlords at NBCUniversal. Netflix trounces the competition in the latest Nielsen streaming numbers… … and we discuss our mini-show swap of Netflix spy dramas Black Doves and The Night Agent. BONUS: White Lotus Death Watch Returns! Stick around at the end of the episode for our latest theories (including monkeys… with guns!). ———

Dianne is out on a very special assignment so Chris is joined by guest host (and real-life SAG voter) Ian Brodsky to discuss everything from the future of James Bond to Mike White's extremely specific references. Featuring our predictions for Season 3 of The White Lotus on HBO (uh, yes, we're going to talk about what's going on with the “Will They? Won't They” Brothers). But first! So much streaming, including: The best moments from the NBC SNL50 special (also Chevy Chase was there). Our undying love for the just-wrapped first season of ABC's High Potential. A ratings update on The Night Agent and Ian's elevator pitch for why Black Doves should be your next Netflix spy fix. And some big surprises from some even bigger personalities behind some of the world's biggest IP: Kathleen Kennedy plans to step aside at Star Wars and the Broccoli family finally relinquishes the keys to the James Bond kingdom (we're pitching our Bonds for Bezos, of course). Correction: Michael Wilson is Barbara Broccoli's half brother, not stepbrother. Stepbrothers were just on the mind this week! ———

TIME FOR FIRST IMPRESSIONS IN WINTER 2025! Judy and Linda watched "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" (중증외상센터), "The Trunk" (트렁크), "When the Phone Rings" (지금 거신 전화는), and "The Queen Who Crowns" (원경). We will start covering "Melo Movie" (멜로무비) starring Choi WooSik and Park BoYoung in March. Hope it's good! Digressions: 1:18 - Listener E-mails! 4:27 - Judy watched "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent", starring Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal. It was a delightful meta action comedy, and you should check it out! 5:52 - Linda watched Part 2 of "Alienoid" (외계+인), and found a massive plot hole. 7:54 - Judy finished playing "Baldur's Gate 3" and is suffering from post-game depression once more. Time to catch up on the jillion games on her backlog! 9:51 - Linda watched the second season of "Night Agent" on Netflix, which is good to have on in the background. 11:59 - "When the Phone Rings" (지금 거신 전화는) is an MBC drama starring Yoo YeonSeok and Chae SooBin. Some things definitely work better as a webtoon. 31:04 - "The Queen Who Crowns" (원경) is a tvN drama starring Cha JooYoung and Lee HyunWook. The first episode is definitely scattered and hard to follow, but it shows much promise in terms of exploring the story of a very influential queen in Korean history. 42:19 - "The Trunk" (트렁크) is a Netflix drama starring Gong Yoo and Seo HyunJin. This one is weird, but we liked it? 49:55 - "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" (중증외상센터) is a Netflix drama, starring Ju JiHoon. Just don't take it too seriously. Audio clips: Mark Isham - "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" - "Score Suite" 이병훈 (Lee ByungHoon) - "외계+인" (Alienoid) - "외계인" (Alien 1) Borislav Slavov - "Baldur's Gate 3" - "Main Theme Part I" Robert Duncan - "Night Agent" - "End Credits" Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com). This week we're all about Netflix, which is riding high while the rest of the streaming universe is filled with turmoil. The next big pivot is live: From Mulaney to Beyoncé, from the NFL to the WWE and everything in between (the Jake Paul fight is somewhere on that spectrum). Oh, live and price hikes. We'll break it all down and then go deep cover on Netflix's spy hit The Night Agent. Listen for our review this week, and the get ready for the spoilercast next week! ———

Welcome back to another episode of Fratello On Air! This week, we discuss a popular request from our listeners about traveling with watches. We've discussed this topic before, but it's been a while since we last did so. For our listeners, we begin the watch content after 32 minutes. Traveling with watches is a typical topic on forums and boards. Some may think it's a tired subject, but with new collectors always entering the fray, the theme deserves more attention. Plus, with new schemes arising to defraud watch wearers, it is constantly on some folks' minds.HandgelenkskontrolleTo kick off this episode, we have a lengthy chat about Burns Night, television, movies, and shoes. Balazs mentions one of his favorite Scottish comedians, Kevin Bridges. We've been watching or awaiting titles such as The Night Agent, Nosferatu, Cross, Shining Girls, Paradise, Landman, and a documentary on Kimbo Slice on the VICE channel. Regarding shoes, the latest Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 retro tennis shoes worn by Andre Agassi are about to launch. We discuss the anniversary of Kobe Bryant's tragic death and mention the upcoming Nike Kobe V Protro "Year of the Mamba" shoes. For the Handglenkskontrolle, Mike is wearing his newly repaired Movado Curviplan with a black dial and an 18K gold case. Balazs is sporting a new release, the Nivada Grenchen Antarctic Diver in green. The piece is limited to 75 pieces with a date and the same number without the function for €956. Expect a review soon!Traveling with watchesSeveral people in our Discord group have asked about traveling with watches.
