We gave this lecture on the full moon celebrating the Guru, guru-pūrnimā the day when we honor our teachers and our lineage. You are all of you my guru, my teacher. And it is at your feet that I offer all of these words, like so many meagre flowers. You have all taught me and are continuing to teach me and will go on teaching me so much!I am eternally indebted to each and every one of you.A hundred thousand pranams at your feet! What could I possibly say to you now or offer you that can express my gratitude and devotion? To celebrate the occasion, I intended to give a lecture on the major schools of Indian philosophy in overview: cārvāka (materialist hedonism), dvaita Vedanta (dualistic theism), vishishtadvaita (qualified non-dualism), kevalādvaita (pure non-dualism), paramadvaya (Shaiva non-duality), acintya bhedabheda (Caitanya's devotional Vaishnavism) etc. I wanted to tell some stories of the great gurus of India: Ramanuja, Nimbarka, Madhava, Vallabha, Shankara, Abinava Gupta etc. But alas, we only really managed to discuss Rāmānuja's very sophisticated form of Theism: Qualified Monism, the in-between ground straddling Duality and non-Duality.Most of the lecture though turned out to be, as per our inspiration that evening determined, a sustained critique on materialism and a defense of theism (that is, the existence of God).As such, I thought I'd call the lecture "The God Solution" which is of course a subtle dig at the title "The God Delusion"! 00:00:00 The Indian Spiritual Heritage: A Thaali Meal00:07:00 Material Reductionism: "God is Unreal, Matter and Energy is Real"00:11:30 Why Did Indian Spiritual Masters Respond to Material Reductionism?00:16:40 Critique of Material Reductionism #1: 2 Axiological Issues00:23:40 Critique of Material Reductionism #2: 3 Epistemological Issues 0:30:06 An Aside on Consciousness: What Is First Person Subjectivity?00:36:55 An Aside on Mystical Experience, i.e Verifying Spiritual Claims 00:38:20 Critique of Material Reductionism #3: Metaphysical Issues00:42:20 The God Solution00:49:50 Epistemological and Metaphysical Issues With Dualistic Theistic Religion (And Some Responses)01:06:10 An Aside on Skeptical Theism (And Why It's Problematic) Support the show

Finally, it was the 13th year and Pandavas had to decide where they would hide to complete one year of anonymity exile. They had many kingdoms in mind that would give them shelter agreeing to keep it a secret but unanimously, there all agreed to go to the Matsya Kingdom. The Pandavas changed their complete appearance in order to stay hidden. Yudishthira decided to be an advisor to the King by the name of Kanka. Bhima disguised himself as a cook and wrestler, Vallabha. Arjuna as a neuter Brihannala, Nakula as a keeper of horses, Granthika and Sahadeva as a keeper of cattle, Tantipala. Draupadi decided to be a female attendant to the queen, Sairandhri. They hid their weapons under a Shami tree near a crematorium in the form of a corpse so that people won't touch it and went to the Kingdom to serve the king. Once there was a huge fest in the Kingdom where the King sent Vallabha (disguise of Bheema) to wrestle with Jimuta. Vallabha not only defeated Jimuta but in a single throw ended up killing him on the spot. After the completion of the exile year, the Pandavas on the day of Dusshera worshipped this same Shami tree and took back their weapons, and hence even today. leaves of Shami tree are exchanges on Dusshera. An illustration is given of how Sripada Sri Vallbha protected a Brahmin devotee by bringing him back to life after he was killed by dacoits. The same grace continues to be showered even now, on whosever seeks it. Chapter 11: Birth of Sri Narasimha Saraswati This chapter describes the advent of Sri Narasimha Saraswati. He was born as a son of Amba in Karanjapuri as per the promise made to her in her previous life by Sripada Sri Vallabha. At birth, he could chant the Omkar. He was otherwise ‘dumb’ till his Upanayana was performed. After Upanayana, he bursts into the recital of Vedic mantras and begins to glow with knowledge and wisdom. Tulsi Vallabha prabhu speaks on devotional service & how one's aim of life should be to please Lord Vishnu.
These are twelve great authorities in preaching God consciousness. The name Śambhu means Lord Śiva. His disciplic succession is also known as the Viṣṇusvāmi sampradāya, and the current Viṣṇusvāmi sampradāya is also known as the Vallabha sampradāya.
This is a must listen to podcast. Tina and I jump right into a conversation that seems so easy and yet within each story there are big lessons for all of us to hear. * Raised in the suburbs of Denver, her mom gave her the precision of a concert pianist and her dad gave her the freedom and compassion of friendship. She was raised as many of us were thinking that her path was to go to school, college, get married and find a career, but none of that resonated with her. * depression and its role in the development of her entire life * no mater where you are, you are not there always, just there now. * we have become removed from some of the things that inherently bring us peace. this is a story of a round peg that never fit into a square hole and she had the courage to find the place where she belonged. * seeing the world she was in didn't seem to feel comfortable, she picked up and drove her minivan to California to be where the people who wrote books she read lived and she met Jai Uttal and was invited to sing with him and join his newly formed group "The Love Pagan Orchestra". * Her dance with depression and the vibration that elevates us above problems and differences is why you want to jump in right now and listen to this podcast. --- Tina Malia is a musical visionary in the world, dream pop and sacred chant communities, who embraces the heart through original compositions that elate and inspire. Her all-encompassing worldview and artistic perspective have led Tina to collaborations with iconic artists such as India.Arie, Deva Premal & Miten, Omar Faruk Tekbilek and Idan Raichel, Bassnectar, and Kenny Loggins. Tina's prodigious talent is evidenced by her self-produced catalog of albums: Shores of Avalon, Jaya Bhagavan, The Silent Awakening, The Lost Frontier, Bridge to Vallabha and Anahata. Thrilled to be bringing her musical inspiration for the first time to Uddevalla, Malia reflects, “Music, through its sheer beauty, has the power to free the heart, uplift the soul and connect communities all over the world. When we gather together to sing, dance, pray and remember our connection to life and one another, we are touched by the simple act of love moving through sound. I can not think of a better way to spend my time than sharing this joy.” Winner of four Global Peace Song Awards, Malia's music has been acclaimed by audiences the world over, radio, press and industry tastemakers, including Echoes' John Diliberto, Kenny Loggins, Jai Uttal, Bassnectar, Yoga Journal, Zone Music Reporter, Music Connection and Huffington Post. Tonight Special Guest Extended interview on Soul Traveller Radio with Tina Malia. 5pm-6pm EST Repeats Thursday bombshellradio.com #World #Dreampop #Folk Tina Malia is a visionary musical artist. Her sonic creations span sacred chant, world, dream pop and folk music genres. A prolific singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and sound engineer, Malia expresses her radiant inner landscape through song. Tina's mother, a renowned concert pianist and opera singer from South Korea, was the driving force in Tina's classical musical education. It was her father, however, who bought her a guitar when she turned 15 and encouraged her to follow her musical passions. "I remember first discovering many great women of folk music - Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Ani DiFranco, Alison Krauss. Listening to them was basically how I learned to play the guitar, and it's also when I starting writing my own songs," says Malia. With guitar and backpack in hand, she began traveling the world and writing music, with her adventures in nature and spirituality inspiring her compositions. Not long after the release of her first album, the accolades winning Shores of Avalon, Tina met pioneering world chant artist Jai Uttal, who recruited her to sing in his groundbreaking ensemble - the Pagan Love Orchestra. It was through Jai that Tina was introduced to the rich spiritual tradition of Sanskrit mantras. "When I first started singing with Jai," recalls the Amida recording artist, "I didn't understand the power and beauty that is held within a mantra. But later, when I was going through a difficult time in life, I was able to turn to this practice and receive the healing that comes with the repetition of these sacred sounds. To this day, I attribute my sense of well-being to chanting mantra. It is so simple and yet so extraordinary." Tina's love of sacred chant is reflected on her 2005 album Jaya Bhagavan, and now again on her newest release - Bridge to Vallabha, where she includes songs in Sanskrit, Hebrew, Gurmukhi and English. She is joined by host of amazing singers, along with instrumentation such as nylon string guitar, Rhodes piano, charangon, vibraphone, lap steel guitar and cello. Tina Malia is a beloved pioneer in a growing community of people around the world dedicated to residing in harmony with the Earth, and expressing it through art, health, education and music. Her all-encompassing musical and spiritual perspective has led her to studio and live performance with a vast array of iconic artists including Kenny Loggins, India.Arie, Bonnie Raitt, Bassnectar, Deva Premal and Miten, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary) Peter Kater and Joanne Shenandoah. Tina's acclaimed catalog of self-produced albums include Shores of Avalon, Jaya Bhagavan, The Silent Awakening, The Lost Frontier and most recently, Bridge to Vallabha.
