Greg Valliere, chief U.S. policy strategist at AGF Investments, says there's a pleasant surprise coming in that the Federal Reserve will not have to be too aggressive to get inflation under better control, noting that he expects a slowdown in the second half -- fueled by labor issues including a potential strike at UPS -- but that the downturn stops short of being a recession. Also on the show, Kevin Crain discusses a Bank of America study showing that the average 401() account balance for men exceeds that of women by 50 percent, David Trainer of New Constructs puts a stock in the Danger Zone that he expects to have one of the biggest earnings misses when quarterly earnings start rolling out in the next few weeks plus, in the Market Call, Manny Weintraub of Spears Abacus talks stocks that produce and compound income.

Jacob makes his NBA finals pick, talks Dan Snyder, and talks NHL playoffs with Michael Valliere.
Lane Valliere was in the hot seat as a guitarist/bassist in the '60s/early '70s Mid-Michigan Music scene, which included The Bossmen, ? and the Mysterians, The Frost, and Meatloaf. From stints with various bands, including performance on Timmothy Ward's infamous solo album Strange But True from 51 years ago, a freak car wash accident led Valliere down a different path. He took to WNEM TV5 as the Director in 1975 and lasted there until he retired in 2017. When he found he could find new ways of performing on his bass and guitars, Valliere got briefly back into it with Ward in the '90s, as well as on and off since including a brief reunion show with Ward in 2022 for the 50th Anniversary of Strange But True. Also he is a Michigan History book collector, as well as the keeper of the Tom Bert music photo archives (which he purchased)--Valliere also had a family member that worked with Faron Young and knew Patsy Cline and Elvis Presley--this story is amazing! He continues to write music to this day. Grab a drink and tune in for this one!

"As a woman who's highly gifted and co-creating your masterpiece in the world, it's your birthright to give yourself what you need, energetically, emotionally and spiritually as much as possible." ~ Lynne Taggart Guest Introduction: Hey, my friends, I'm Cindy MacMillan and I am so glad you're here. Welcome to Exploring the Seasons of Life podcast. Exploring the Seasons of Life is a metaphor for understanding the complexities of being alive. It is a reminder that life is filled with ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and moments of both growth and stagnation. Life is a journey, and each season brings its own unique lessons and experiences. As we move through the different “seasons” of life, we learn, we grow, and we become better versions of ourselves. Life is a beautiful and precious gift, and it is up to us to make the most of it. Each week I interview spiritual explorers, amazing coaches, and authors from all walks of life about beginnings, endings and the messy bits in between. Self-love, well-being, and mindset are at the heart of our conversations because once you change the inside, the outside will begin to change as well. I am thrilled to introduce my guest and dive into some really important topics today. Ashley Valliere is a Body Educator, her background is in personal/group fitness training, massage therapy and currently she's in school to become a Somatic Body Therapist. Her goal is to inspire and embolden people to advocate for themselves by understanding their bodies in new ways. Here's a glimpse of our conversation: Ashley, welcome to Exploring the Seasons of Life podcast. 3:57 I ended up finding it in a modality called Bodynamic and it is developmental psychology that is based in somatics. Traditional psychology is talk therapy, with Bodynamic, it's a little bit of talk, like obviously we have to talk but the idea is it's really body driven. 5:38 There's a lot of emotional, like resonance that comes up in stretching, because all of a sudden, you're elongating a muscle that's maybe been rigid for decades, right? And like, physically rigid, yes, but also like energetically rigid, and then when you open it up, and you're in a different place than when that disruption happened, you're in a safer place. Now, all of a sudden, those emotions have a place to be processed. 6:28 So the way that I've learned it is that there are seven universal emotions. We have fear, sadness, shame, anger, joy, connection, and disgust and each one of those has like subsidiaries, right. So, like, you can filter it down, kind of like the feeling wheel, right? They can all get boiled down to different kinds of sensations. 10:30 So yes, like I think self-reflection, journaling, meditation, contemplation, whatever it is to you, that you reflect upon yourself is huge. Like, that is absolutely how you can get so many answers, right, like, that's how you can really start connecting your own dots. And though a lot of times, we're too close to our own situation. So it's like you need that outside help. 12:49 Each muscle has the capacity for any of it. Like for any emotion, really. So, there isn't a specific muscle. It's not like my shoulders, is my happy muscle, right? Like, it's, it's not quite like that. I could give an example of, I like to think of our arms, and especially like the biceps, like those, those are our huggy muscles. Like that is like you bring somebody in and you're just you're holding them tight, you're squeezing them in, you're getting really good connection, like that is I think that's a joyful experience, right? 24:25 Just talk to your body. I think we overcomplicate it, but it literally is just pausing like, hey body, and ask it a question. It can be that simple. Keeping in mind that you might not get an answer that second, right? So, it's like, hey, body, why did we react like that at the grocery store, like that was weird. You might not get the answer right then but maybe later when you're just doing something a little bit mundane. Maybe you've heard the term "emotional intelligence" before but it might feel too abstract to be useful. This week I'm joined by EI Educator, Ashley Valliere, who's teaching us what EI even is, why we need it, and sharing practical tips to work on developing it. We even dive into how EI can help you overcome emotional eating! In Ashley's 15 year journey working with people (as a personal fitness trainer, massage therapist, and now completing her Bodynamic muscular psychotherapy program) she noticed some peculiar things with her clients over the years. Most notably emotional outbursts in sessions (anger, sadness, shame ect); as well, she took a special interest in people's posture and body language. These curiosities began a decade long search for the missing link between brain and body. Her specialities are in decoding the body, learning how to navigate how it communicates and emotional intelligence. In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Ashley Valliere joins the show to discuss her passion for the nervous system, embodiment, and learning ways to bring the brain into the body. Can we really turn our trauma, verbal or physical, into a superpower by listening to and integrating our bodies with our minds? This episode is perfect for any individual looking to reclaim their personal power and navigate the world of physical and verbal trauma. Ashley shares her 15-year journey working with people and how she noticed various emotional outbursts in sessions such as anger, sadness, and shame. In response, she began a decade-long search to understand the connection between the brain and body and how to bring them into alignment. She now specializes in decoding the body, learning how to navigate how it communicates, and emotional intelligence. Tune into this episode to hear Ashley explain how adding awareness to the body through physical movement can help to avoid feeling stuck and repeating patterns. She encourages listeners to use the potential of trauma and turn it into a superpower, a force for change. Plus, she provides some other key takeaways on the importance of the body and how to tap into it. For more information, visit Ashley's website at https://www.theembodiedhuman.com/.
Greg Valliere, chief U.S. policy strategist for AGF Investments, says that while there is no sugar-coating the problems of the economy -- inflation, rising interest rates, a rough housing market and more -- the likely recession that lies ahead will be shallow, and will have a reasonable recovery once the Federal Reserve proves that the bitter medicine it is providing to quash inflation won't go overboard and kill the patient. Also on the show, Mark Hulbert discusses his recent column on MarketWatch where he added his own flair to some new academic research showing that the classic "4 percent rule" on retirement withdrawals is leading savers astray and that the proper spending amount to ensure that someone not outlive their money may be less than half of what most people are planning for. Plus Chuck talks about his annual cash-or-candy, trade-or-treat Halloween event and the choices his neighborhood kids went for when they came to his home Tuesday night.
