Born in Italy and now a resident of Berlin for a decade Franz has his roots in noise rock and elettronica but was led by the record collectors passion into acquiring a taste for modern and not so modern dance floor music. He frequently inspires dancers in clubs all over Europe with his eclectic blend of spacey House, New Wave, Italo and Acid speckled with hints of Electro and Chicago House. Aside from producing on his own imprint, he has releases on World Unknown, Bordello A Parigi, Bahnsteig 23, Tusk Wax, Mechatronica or Discodromo´s Cocktail d'Amore Music. Bside Incoming: Szafran We're very excited to bring you a wonderful DJ/Producer from Poland, he goes by the name of Szafran. Oskar Szafraniec plied his trade under the mentorship of the legendary A Guy Called Gerald before basing himself in Berlin where his regular appearances at Club der Visionaere, Watergate, Tresor and Salon zur Wilden Renate would fine tune his live performance. He has since released on notable labels like Rawax, Deset and Cyclo, and collaborated with some serious heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos and Pier Bucci. But, after an enforced end to his touring days, the industrious Polish DJ sought a change of scenery on Croatia's Dalmatian Coast. A much needed break from performing and producing allowed a chance for new influences, inspirations, production styles, and his new alias: Szafran. The result is a beautiful balance of hardware, software, and organic sounds; breakbeat drum loops, synths, keys and the signature sound of a 303. Nathalie has been a staple of Berlin's incomparable underground scene since 2014, playing the city's joie de vivre open-air parties and peak time house sets at titans of the Berlin club circuit such as Salon zur Wilden Renate and Tresor. Hailing from Rotterdam, Nathalie's Nightlife education was thorough and diverse. Her rave-forward pallet is unmistakable, commonly blending nostalgic breakbeats, golden-era vocal house, and blistering acid with the best hidden gems of the contemporary underground. "I recorded this mix at home with my Technics and my Xone:23 The idea behind the mix is... 100% Ian Pooley! I didn't really have a clear idea of what I wanted to do for this mix. Then I got inspired from listening to a mix CD by Ian Pooley whilst cleaning my flat. Just before Ian left Berlin last year he generously gave me a bunch of his own records and CDs. I decided to limit myself and only play music by Ian Pooley that I have vinyl, mainly from the mid noughties era. To be honest, that limitation made recording this mix so much easier, as I knew what I wanted to do and it left little room for overthinking. So könnte man den Werdegang von Electronic Elephant in den letzten Jahren vielleicht am besten beschreiben. Denn was im Alter von 15 Jahren auf privaten Partys in der ostdeutschen Stadt begann, hat sich schnell zu wöchentlichen Stippvisiten in die sagenumwobensten Clubs der Nation entwickelt. Seiner Heimat ist er jedoch bis heute treu geblieben. In der mittlerweile weit über hallensische Stadtgrenzen hinaus bekannten Station Endlos fand er schließlich seinen musikalischen Heimathafen. So ist er seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2014 als Resident mit an Deck, wenn die endlose Crew mal wieder die Weltmeere der elektronischen Musik unsicher macht. Gemeinsam mit dem kreativen Kollektiv aus Werklern, Dekorateuren und Musikern baut die Crew im nunmehr dritten Jahr Träume aus Holz und begeistert mit ihren Kreationen Festivalbesucher aus der ganzen Welt. Zu festen Stationen auf ihrer Fahrt zählen unter anderem das Feel-, Artlake- und Wilde Möhre-Festival. Und wie das nun einmal so ist, zieht es jeden DJ – gewollt oder ungewollt –irgendwann nach Berlin. Auch Electronic Elephant konnte sich dem unwiderstehlichen Sog nicht entziehen. Mit seinen abwechslungs- reichen Sets, die meist ein breites Potpourri aus Tech- und Deep House sowie Techno-Klängen bilden, konnte er dem anspruchsvollen und verwöhnten Berliner Publikum schnell seinen Stempel aufdrücken. Kein Wunder also, dass er sich bereits nach kurzer Zeit Residencies bei den etablierten Veranstaltungsreihen Bordels des Arts – ihres Zeichens beheimatet in der Wilden Renate – und YES! in sein Büchlein schreiben konnte. Wer dabei heute an Electronic Elephant denkt, der kommt um den Namen Casimir von Oettingen nicht herum. Gemeinsam haben die beiden Hallenser als Aemsel & Krepel schon dutzende Festivals und Clubs im In- und Ausland bespielt. Und selbst wenn einer der beiden einmal allein hinter dem Pult steht, ist der andere meist nie weiter als eine Armlänge entfernt.
