Hey warriors and nature spirits!I am working on a special project this week and I hope you enjoy it with me!The Story of Gloom, Music for Caves :Gloom is a piece meant to be performed in dark space – such as a cave – to fully immerse its listeners and performers in the experience, focused on sound and its deep listening facets. The music calls the listener to focus on their inner voice and light within, discover it and have it guide them out of darkness.The piece is a composer’s story of self-discovery and emergence out of the darkness and hopelessness that many of us feel during the pandemic, further fueled by the pressure of quarantines and lockdowns. It reflects on the feelings of wanting to do something to help yet being overwhelmed and paralyzed by the vast requirements of the new lifestyle that has been bestowed upon all people around the world. With their EP titled “Sugar and Honey” due in Spring 2021, these three ladies with powerhouse voices, different skill sets on their respective instruments, and quick witted lyricism plan on continuing to write and gig around Nashville and beyond as they prepare for a big year ahead. WITH HER NEW EPIC SINGLES!!! Originally from small town British Columbia, singer-songwriter Arianna Mae pairs catchy melodies with a deep, heartfelt nostalgia. Growing up, she began writing her own songs as a way of experimenting with popular music in contrast to the classical regimen she was being taught. Two music degrees and a move across the country later, you can find Arianna performing her original music in some of Toronto's best local venues and festivals. This year's highlights included a showcase at Canadian Music Week 2019 and a performance with Emerging Young Artists at The Drake Underground for their A World Away festival. Arianna independently released her first EP 'Coming Home' in 2017. Four of the five songs on the EP were inspired by books, thanks to a YouTube project she started in the Fall of 2015 called #newsongsonmondays. Today she wanted me to share a few of her expertise and the reason is that she is now offering free lessons and consultations - and doesn't charge money for any of her services. Her teaching music experience includes over 25 years; and recently she was honoured to be selected as a Royal Conservatory of Music Teacher of Distinction Award recipient. After moving to Canada in 2004 from Ukraine, Nina continued her professional career as a visual artist, composer, and musician, while studying at York University, Canada, and receiving PhD in multiple disciplines. She is now the Ontario Registered Teacher and holds LRCM in piano, PhD in piano and music education, and various international prizes in all arts. Her passion is dance and she has been performing for over 350 audiences, including the Governor General of Canada. Today she shared with us a few music samples from her latest pop album All-Inclusive Love, and classical album Radian Classic, which are available on all major streaming platforms - including instagram. She grew up studying classical music, while building her own style of metal violin playing by recording experimental songs on her computer at home. Her journey eventually took her to Seattle, then Los Angeles, where she joined the Mariachi Divas and recorded on their first Grammy award-winning album, Canciones de Amor. Since then, she has performed in various mariachi groups, as well as rock bands, cover bands, a burlesque act, and many studio tracks and albums. She is currently a full time musician, and enjoys specializing in the metal and mariachi genres. His work combines counselling, mindful practices, and music as medicine. As an educator, Gary teaches in the Expressive Arts Department of Fleming College. He provides workshops and lectures at various learning institutes, from Laurier University to Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Gary is the author of Tuning the Eardrums – Listening as a Mindful Practice, and Invocations - a collection of poetry. His new novel will be released this summer. Gary’s work has taken him to communities affected by conflict, especially in Africa and Israel. At home, Gary has supported autistic clients at Toronto’s Geneva Centre, cancer patients at SickKids Hospital, and addiction recovery groups. In addition to Gary’s therapeutic practice, he continues to perform Internationally as a cornet player and multi-instrumentalist artist. He plays a range of acoustic instruments from around the world. He is based in Cochin, Kerala. Viswanath began learning violin at the age of 15. He did not have any musical background when he started. Later he realized that music was his passion and decided to pursue it professionally. He holds his degree and masters there - Master of Arts in Carnatic Violin from RLV College of Fine Arts in Tripunithura. Meanwhile he also learned the Western Violin and went on to complete 8th grade and ATCL(Diploma) in Western violin from Trinity College, London. He was also interested in the Cello and taught himself to play the instrument. He has performed live shows with many great artists like K J Yesudas, Hariharan, Stephen Devassy and Vijay Yesudas . He is also a part of many Orchestras like Canadian Symphony Orchestra, Italian Symphony Orchestra, Indian National Youth Orchestra (Delhi), Cochin Chamber Orchestra, Bangalore Symphony Orchestra. As a recording artist for the Indian Film Industry, he has been an integral part of many chart buster songs in various languages. Dragoness is a solo project by Lydia Gentry, a classically trained violinist tuned to a different amplitude-- symphonic rock featuring vocals, electric violin, and live looping, based in the area of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Many have described Dragoness' style and voice as a mix of Florence + the Machine, U2, Rush, Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, as well as being inspired by the sounds of psychedelic rock, indie alternative, and Americana. Lydia is a frequent performer in Downtown Cape Girardeau and can be seen often throughout the year, whether at coffee shops, farmer's markets, or on the streets themselves. She first got her start in 2016 by street playing on acoustic violin and released the singles Subdivisions and Limelight the next year, both originally performed by Rush. Dragoness completed her debut EP in April 2018, Exit 99 a mix of original and cover songs. Lydia is now studying at Belmont University, located in Nashville, and now fronts her new band, Gentry, while also performing solo in Missouri. Their debut single, Downfall, was released on October 18th of 2019. Her credits include working with Johnny Klimek on the Netflix show Sense8 and the motion picture Jungle starring Daniel Radcliffe. Emer recently scored the award winning films In Orbit at the Dublin Gaze Film Festival 2019 and Suburban Jungle which won Best Short film at the San Pedro International Film Festival in 2018. In Orbit is set to screen at the Cork Film Festival and London Short Series Festival after premiering at the Galway film fleadh festival last July. Emer also creates experiential concerts, having recently organized, curated and performed in the Intrinsic Strings Concert last August, sponsored by BMI, VER-PRG and Vresh with the aim of connecting communities through music and shining a light on loneliness and isolation in city environments. At the heart of her musical voice is the violin, an instrument she has played since the age of 2 years old. Emer is an active recording session player in LA and rotates her time between composing, recording and performing her own works as well as others. Emer is based in Los Angeles. For a year, she read a book, wrote a song inspired by that book, and filmed it every week to be posted on Monday.
