"Always having an open door to the success of other people - that's what Andy and Josh do in Canada...it's so beautiful". — Noel WebbThe longest serving drummer of Skydiggers, Noel Webb is celebrating 20 years with the band, and now considers them "family". He says playing with the band is like "having dinner together". Born in Birmingham, England, Noel's attraction to the drums started at a very early age, when he would run in the back yard wielding a stick, banging on random (inanimate) objects, and keeping time with the radio hits of the day. When real drum sticks arrived as a gift from a brother, an obsession was hatched. Noel's passion for percussion led him to a degree in Orchestral Composition from Laurier University.Despite his considerable achievements in education, and remarkable accomplishments in the business world, Noel remains grateful for the life lessons that says he continues to learn from his “boss” Andy. He believes strongly in "serving the art” as the songs develop and change with the evolution of the band. When asked what he's learned in his 20 years with the band, the answer is "lead with love". Cheers to that.Available now: Listen to "Dreams and Second Chances" (single)Watch the lyric video for "Snow Blind"Music in this episode:"Dreams and Second Chances" - Skydiggers (Single, 2025)"Broken Year" - Skydiggers (Dreams and Second Chances, May 9, 2025)"One Maybe Two Maybe" - Skydiggers (Dreams and Second Chances, May 9, 2025)"Je T'aime Toujours, Mon Amour" - Skydiggers (Bide Your Time, 2023)Stream, download, and follow SkydiggersEmployee of the Myth is brought to you by Skydiggers ProductionsFeaturing: Andy Maize and Josh FinlaysonProducer & co-host: Joel StewartHost and Editor: Jane Gowan (Music Buddy)Audio Engineer: Tim Vesely

Rashad LaTouche (@rlatouch_rmt) is a massage therapist, educator, and coach located in Toronto and the GTA. Rashad played football at Laurier University before pursuing a career as a massage therapist. He treats clients all over the GTA both in clinic and in home. In addition, he also teaches massage at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. You can check out Rashad's services and get in contact through his website: latouchemobilemassage.com. Massage therapy is often misunderstood. It's not lathering up with scented cream and someone just rubbing your neck for 15 minutes. It's a form of manual therapy requiring extensive education and a high level of care. Rashad and I spoke about this throughout the episode. It's important to understand this so that you know how massage therapy might fit into your care, and how you can best utilize it. With massage, and any manual therapy, there is a level of home care that's needed. If the therapist could do everything for you, they certainly would. But they can't come home with you, so there's a level of responsibility needed to keep up your end of the recovery process. We discussed some of the thought process behind this and how to best implement them. Bear in mind, everyone's home care should be individualized and overseen by their practitioner. This also led into regular maintenance recovery tools like theraguns, ice and heat, foam rolling and other tools. Similar to almost anything, the individualized approach is best. Massage and your personal care is no different. What works for you may not work for me, and vice versa. We spoke about strategies to find the best methods of care and lifestyle choices that could suit you. Hopefully this sparks you to consider what you're doing, and make some important changes. Rashad and I worked closely together at a gym in Toronto in what feels like a previous life. One day soon we'll get the “Cafe Dell” crew together for a fun story telling podcast from those days. Rashad works extremely hard to deliver the best level of care to his clients and this is apparent as soon as you get to meet him. If you live in the GTA, please reach out to Rashad through his website for any massage therapy needs. Alena Luciani (@Training2XL) is Strength and Conditioning Coach and educator who works with both athletes in sport, and athletes in life. She played both basketball and lacrosse at Laurier University before progressing into her coaching career, where she has worked with athletes of all sports and all levels. She is also focused on elevating the field of strength and conditioning through her Cueing and Programming clinics for trainers and coaches, which you can find at https://www.training2xl.com/. Coaching is about so much more than barking instructions, writing down exercises, and counting sets and reps – It's about connecting with people. This is perhaps the least taught, yet most important skill to learn as a coach. Alena learned this through watching her father coach football and connecting with his players on an individual level, as well as learning about body language and human behaviour with her mother. She utilizes this knowledge in her own coaching, as well as passing it along to other coaches. Anyone who seriously played sports knows that it's difficult to lose your “athlete identity” and find out who you are outside of sport. Similarly, it's difficult to find your own identity as a coach without simply copying what's always been done. Alena and I spoke at length about her own journey through this and how it would apply to anyone in any field. We are more than our titles, we are who we are. Alena also has a fantastic system in place to optimize working at home and utilizing her environment to her advantage rather than it being a downfall. From creating separate spaces to the clothes you wear and the routines or habits you follow, you must master your environment. Alena works with people of all walks of life locally in Toronto and the GTA, as well as virtually with humans all over. If you're a coach, you should definitely check out her Cueing & Programming Clinic. We talk about his career growing up in football from the youth leagues in Cambridge Ontario through to Laurier University into the pros for the past five seasons. We also spoke about the importance of being a multi sport athlete growing up and how the coordinative patterns, habits and overall athleticism improve allowing you to be a more versatile athlete in your sport of choice. The thing I am most impressed with through talking with Chris, and the reason I named the episode Everyone Is Replaceable is the evolution he showed throughout his career. Moving from level to level he took it upon himself to make sure he was successful. Whether it was improving his understanding of training by learning to incorporate more rest & recovery work in the pros, incorporating more hours of film into his week, learning to watch more than just his own play to be able to be better prepared for opponents, or so many other things Chris was able to do to to create the success he has had in his career, the key was always being able to adapt. Everyone in professional sports is replaceable. The way you show you deserve to be there is by adapting and evolving with the game the way Chris has done so successfully throughout his career. To get in contact with Chris or find out more about his football camps, reach him through Instagram @Chrisackie21 or through email: chrisackie35@gmail.comCheck out the full show here;www.elitedevelopmentpodcast.caCheck out my website;www.coachdusseault.comE-mail me: kenny@coachdusseault.comFollow me on social media;Instagram: @coachdusseaultTwitter: @coachdusseaultFacebook: Coach Dusseault - Strength and Conditioning

In this episode, I spoke with Nicole McCallum, co-founder at the Waterloo Region Environment Network (WREN), current PhD candidate at Laurier, and professor, previously at the University of Guelph and now at Laurier University. Today, there’s an overwhelming challenge of misinformation, that you can see in just about any industry, including in cosmetics. You see “green” beauty products everywhere these days, but what actually makes a product sustainable? It’s obviously very important, especially in light of all of the environmental issues we see today, to move towards more sustainable practices… Unfortunately, there’s a lot of confusion about what practices will be sustainable, especially on the consumer side, which has been compounded by misleading marketing, media without the scruples to effectively interpret new research, and well-intentioned but ultimately misinformed individuals with a large platform. I truly believe that this misinformation challenge is one of the major challenges of our age, and I think part of the solution falls on everyday individuals. In today’s info overloaded world, we need to be better critical thinkers, which was the topic of this episode. In our conversation, we spoke about information bias, emotional decision making, human nature and our propensity towards certain ideologies, the Dunning Kruger effect, and steps we can all take to be better decision makers.

In the first part of this episode I do some followup on Monday's show. There's another Franken accuser (and another 2...) and there are some more points to be made. A woman tweeted that she didn't care that men might be falsely accused, and the internet exploded. Did it matter that she clarified and apologized? Nah. Also, the process for dealing with sexual harassment in Congress is AWFUL. Then at 27:30, I discuss the latest obsession of the free speech warriors, and that is a secretly recorded meeting in which a Laurier professor and some other admin scolded a grad student for showing a Jordan B. Peterson debate in a class. Here's a reasonable breakdown of the facts. So is this a case of the free speech right losing their minds or the SJWs going out of control?
