They also cover a wild brief history of bad medical science including heroin cough syrup for kids, radioactive water prescribed for vitality, thalidomide causing 10,000 birth defects, Crisco replacing lard on doctor's orders, and OxyContin — and why historical context should make anyone skeptical of anyone who says "just trust the science." In a world that often pressures us to conform, the true essence of greatness lies in embracing our authentic selves.  Each of us is a unique tapestry woven from experiences, dreams, and passions. To live authentically is to honor this tapestry, to present ourselves to the world without fear or reservation. It requires bravery—a courage that inspires us to break free from societal expectations and to express who we truly are.Being authentic means daring to voice your thoughts and beliefs, even when they challenge the status quo.  It's about recognizing that your perspective is valid and valuable. When you speak your truth (even if your voice shakes), you not only empower yourself but also inspire others to do the same. Each time you choose honesty over approval from others, you create a cascading effect of authenticity, encouraging those around you to step into their own light. My latest book “The Wealth Money Can't Buy” is full of fresh ideas and original tools that I'm absolutely certain will cause quantum leaps in your positivity, productivity, wellness, and happiness. MFUT: This fund is new and has a limited operating history. There is no guarantee that the Fund will achieve its investment goal. Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Commodities Risk: Exposure to the commodities markets may subject the Fund to greater volatility than investments in traditional securities. Fixed Income Securities Risk: The prices of fixed income securities respond to economic developments, particularly interest rate changes, as well as to changes in an issuer's credit rating or market perceptions about the creditworthiness of an issuer. Foreign Securities Risk: The Fund may invest in foreign securities. Such investments involve certain risks not involved in domestic investments and may experience more rapid and extreme changes in value than investments in securities of U.S. companies. Leverage Risk: The derivative instruments in which the Fund may invest provide the economic effect of financial leverage by creating additional investment exposure to the underlying instrument, as well as the potential for greater loss. If the Fund uses leverage through purchasing derivative instruments, the Fund has the risk that losses may exceed the net assets of the Fund. Derivatives Risk: Derivatives are financial instruments that derive value from the underlying reference asset or assets, such as stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, funds (including ETFs), interest rates or indexes. Short Selling Risk: If a security sold short or other instrument increases in price, the Fund may have to cover its short position at a higher price than the short sale price, resulting in a loss. Commodity-Linked Derivatives Tax Risk: The tax treatment of commodity-linked derivative instruments may be adversely affected by changes in legislation, regulations, or other legally binding authority. Non-Diversification Risk: Because the Fund is “non-diversified,” it may invest a greater percentage of its assets in the securities of a single issuer or a smaller number of issuers than if it was a diversified fund. Commodities Risk. Exposure to the commodities markets may subject the Fund to greater volatility than investments in traditional securities. Fixed Income Securities Risk. Because the Fund is “non-diversified,” it may invest a greater percentage of its assets in the securities of a single issuer or a smaller number of issuers than if it was a diversified fund. New Fund Risk. The Fund is a recently organized management investment company with no operating history. Diversification does not guarantee against a loss.  Definitions: Alpha: The portion of an investment's return that differs from its benchmark after adjusting for risk, measured over a specific historical period and not predictive of future results. Crisis Alpha: Returns a strategy seeks to generate during periods of significant equity market stress — a stated objective, not a guaranteed or expected outcome. Stop Loss: A standing order to sell a security once it reaches a specified price, which does not guarantee execution at that price in fast-moving or gapping markets. Trailing Stop: A stop order set at a fixed distance from the market price that adjusts upward as the price rises and holds when it falls, carrying the same execution risks as a stop loss. Shorting: Selling a borrowed security intending to repurchase it later, which profits if the price falls and carries theoretically unlimited loss potential if the price rises. Correlation: A statistical measure of how two assets move relative to one another, ranging from -1.0 to +1.0, which changes over time and often rises during market stress. Derivatives: Financial contracts deriving value from an underlying asset, rate, or index — including futures, options, and swaps — that may involve leverage, counterparty risk, and losses exceeding the initial investment. Futures: Standardized exchange-traded contracts to buy or sell an asset at a set price on a future date, traded on margin so that leverage magnifies both gains and losses. Long: Owning or holding a position expected to benefit from an increase in the price of the underlying asset. S&P GSCI (formerly the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index): A production-weighted, energy-heavy index of commodity futures created by Goldman Sachs in 1991 and acquired by S&P in 2007, which is unmanaged and cannot be invested in directly. Get Stopped Out: Having a position closed automatically when a stop order triggers, which can occur on a temporary price move and exit the position before any recovery. MSCI EAFE Index: A market-capitalization-weighted index of developed-market equities outside the US and Canada, covering Europe, Australasia, and the Far East, which is unmanaged and not directly investable. MSCI Emerging Markets Index: A market-capitalization-weighted index of equities across emerging-market countries, which is unmanaged and not directly investable. Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA): An individual or firm advising others on futures, options on futures, or certain swaps, generally required to register with the CFTC and join the NFA — registration that implies no skill level or regulatory endorsement.

Welcome to the Summer Leadership Reset on Partnering Leadership. We have more access to ideas than ever before.More books. More podcasts. More articles. More insights. The challenge isn't finding more information. It's spending enough time with the ideas that can change how we think, decide, and lead.I have seen this in my own life. The books and conversations that have influenced me most aren't the ones I rushed through and moved on from. They are the ones I returned to, wrestled with, and understood differently as my own experiences changed. After more than 450 Partnering Leadership conversations with CEOs, researchers, authors, and leadership thinkers, there are a few I continue coming back to because the ideas become more valuable the more we sit with them.Throughout July and August, I'll be sharing 10 of those conversations. They explore some of the questions I see leaders wrestling with most: adapting to change, building trust, making better decisions, rethinking work, using AI wisely, and creating organizations ready for what comes next.Whether you are listening for the first time or revisiting these conversations, I hope they help you find an insight you can apply and a question worth thinking about long after the episode ends.—MahanConnect with Mahan Tavakoli:Mahan Tavakoli Website Mahan Tavakoli on LinkedIn Partnering Leadership Website

Let’s talk about testosterone testing and other important blood tests you can track for your overall health, wellness, vitality, and longevity. I recorded this show on the occasion of my first visit to the blood lab after signing up for Vitals Vault’s premium program, and I talk about some of my favorite markers while pedaling home from the lab. I focus a lot on testosterone because I believe it’s a great proxy for overall wellness, vitality, recovery, and resilience to stress. I share my own numbers, which have ranged from 562 to 1,004, and explain why I’m so intent on keeping testosterone levels high as I age. I also get into the roughly 1% annual decline in average male testosterone levels since the 1980s, vitamin D and the widespread fear of the sun, why looking beyond LDL can give you a better picture of your lipid panel, and the lifestyle practices that can help optimize testosterone—from sleep and diet to avoiding chronic cardio, lifting heavy things, sprinting once in a while, and even maintaining a winning relationship. TIMESTAMPS: Testosterone testing is the best proxy for your overall state of wellness, vitality, and recovery or resilience to stress. [00:51] Brad checks his testosterone level frequently because it is his way of monitoring the stress impact from his training. [5:41] Triglycerides to HDL ratio is a premier indicator of your heart disease risk factor. It is much better than looking at total LDL cholesterol. [06:42] In 2017 they lowered the ideal level of testosterone due to the widespread decline of testosterone among males around the world. [09:02] If you are not optimizing your sleep, including down and rest time, you cannot reduce your stress. [12:13] Get the junk out of your diet. If you are in that chronic cardio pattern in your exercise, you may be tanking your testosterone. [12:37] If there is arguing and other dysfunctional patterns in your relationship, it will tank your testosterone as well as shorten your lifespan. [13:34] Vitamin D comes from sun exposure more than from your diet or pills. [14:30] LINKS: Brad Kearns.com BradNutrition.com B.rad Whey Protein Superfuel - The Best Protein on The Planet! Dr Hazel Wallace joins Georgie to explore why female physiology still isn't properly accounted for in health, nutrition and performance.Hazel is a former NHS doctor, nutritionist, personal trainer, bestselling author and founder of The Food Medic. She explains how women have historically been treated as “small men” in medical research, and why that can have serious consequences, from misdiagnosis and adverse drug reactions to gaps in our understanding of hormones, nutrition and performance. They discuss how the menstrual cycle can influence energy, motivation, sleep and recovery, why Hazel prefers women to be “cycle aware” rather than rigidly training around different phases, and the nutritional issues that disproportionately affect women, including iron deficiency. The conversation also covers perimenopause, HRT, fertility, IVF and egg freezing, including why the months before conception or egg collection can be important from a nutritional perspective.Plus, she shares the exercise she believes matters most for longevity, the supplement she recommends for many people in the UK, and the one principle she believes every woman should remember:Just because something is common doesn't make it normal.FAQsWho is Dr Hazel Wallace?Dr Hazel Wallace is a former NHS medical doctor, nutritionist, personal trainer, bestselling author and founder of The Food Medic, an educational platform focused on evidence-based health and nutrition. How does the menstrual cycle affect performance?Hazel explains that changing hormone levels can influence factors including energy, motivation, mood, sleep and recovery. However, she says the research does not currently support rigid week-by-week training prescriptions for every woman.Should women train according to their menstrual cycle?Hazel recommends being cycle aware rather than strictly “cycle syncing”. Tracking your own symptoms and recognising when you personally feel strongest or most fatigued can help inform training decisions. Why is iron deficiency particularly relevant for women?Women lose iron through menstruation and can have increased requirements during stages such as pregnancy and breastfeeding. Hazel says iron deficiency is an important issue in female health and performance. Can nutrition affect IVF and egg freezing?Hazel discusses evidence suggesting nutrition can influence fertility-related outcomes and highlights the importance of the period leading up to conception, IVF or egg collection. What does Hazel say about perimenopause?Perimenopause can last months or years and may involve changes in periods, sleep, mood, concentration, hair, skin and temperature regulation. Hazel recommends tracking symptoms and speaking to a healthcare professional if they become troublesome.Does Hazel recommend HRT?Hazel explains that HRT can be safe and effective for many women but is still a medication and isn't appropriate for everybody. Decisions should be made with a doctor based on individual symptoms, risks and medical history.Does Hazel recommend continuous glucose monitors? Not routinely for healthy people. She says unnecessary glucose monitoring can sometimes create anxiety or food obsession. What is the best exercise for longevity?Hazel highlights resistance training, while also stressing that the best form of exercise is ultimately one you can consistently maintain. The Performance People podcast is produced in partnership with J.P. Together they explore why disembodiment and dissociation can be intelligent survival strategies, how food and sexuality both ask us to reconnect with hunger, desire, permission, disgust, control, pleasure, and shame, and why the body cannot be separated from the larger cultural systems that taught us to leave it. This conversation moves through eating disorder recovery, sexual trauma, chronic illness, pleasure, sensuality, intergenerational stories, and the body as a doorway into the unconscious. The invitation is not to force yourself back into the body, but to bring mind and body back into relationship with more consciousness, safety, and truth.Applications are now open to the public for Cohort 4 of Inner Compass Academy.ICA is Vanessa's 10-week depth psychology training for therapists, coaches, space holders, creatives, seekers, and anyone who wants to go beyond surface-level self-help and learn how to work more deeply with shadow, the unconscious, embodiment, relational patterns, dreams, archetypes, and the symbolic life. This is not a program promising quick formulas or coaching scripts. Identify one standard you're chasing that isn't yours and pause it this week. 2. Replace doom‑scrolling with a tactile activity (e.g., crochet, chess) to reset mental bandwidth. 3. Share resources (books, articles) that center marginalized voices instead of speaking for them.Publishing insights: A slower, deliberate book proposal can yield a far better deal than an immediate offer.Chrissy's Substack, The Liberation Collective – https://chrissyking.com/substack (or similar)Instagram & TikTok: @iamchrissyking – https://instagram.com/iamchrissykingIf you found this conversation valuable, hit Subscribe so you never miss an episode, leave a review on your favorite platform, and share the episode with fellow entrepreneurs who are ready to break free from limiting body narratives. They cover the research showing fit overweight individuals have similar or better mortality outcomes than normal weight but unfit people, why frailty is actually one of the highest risk categories in medicine, and why the look people chase by restricting often leads to worse health and worse aesthetics. They also get into Hadi Choopan's legendary pyramid squat session on the Smith machine working up to 500 pounds and back down, Rho Nutrition's liposomal creatine solving the digestion issue for people who can't handle regular creatine, Procter and Gamble acquiring Thorne and what it signals about where the wellness industry is heading, Philip Morris buying food companies in the 1970s and applying their addiction science to processed food, Crisp Power protein pretzels and why the combination of high protein and fiber produces unusual satiety, an Anthropic study where scientists planted a thought in Claude's neural network and it became aware something was wrong, and Myspace relaunching with a no-algorithm model led by the brothers who say they originally conceived the idea behind Facebook.
