Craig served as the British Ambassador to Uzbekistan from August 2002 to October 2004 and was the Rector of the University of Dundee from 2007 to 2010.

Ein Standpunkt von Jochen Mitschka.Erwartungsgemäß war das Urteil des Weltgerichtes ein politisches. Es hatte nicht gewagt, das Wort Waffenstillstand zu verwenden, aber es war ansonsten ein eindeutiges vorläufiges Urteil gegen das noch so starke Imperium der westlichen Kolonialstaaten und die USA. Craig Murray erklärt, warum das Votum des Gerichtes für Israel vernichtend ist. Und gerade als ob der Westen zeigen wollte, wie unwichtig das Urteil sei, stoppt er die humanitären Hilfen über die UNO, weil angeblich 12 von tausenden Mitarbeitern mit der Hamas kooperiert hatten, oder mehr mit Hamas in Kontakt waren, was angesichts der Verwaltung von Gaza durch die Hamas unvermeidbar ist. Selbst wenn in ein oder zwei Jahren Israel wegen Völkermord verurteilt wird, ist es irrelevant für die bis dahin geschaffenen Fakten, also Tote, Verstümmelte, Traumatisierte, zerstörte Wohnungen und Besiedlung durch israelische Siedler. Und so wird das Gericht keinerlei Einfluss auf die Verbrechen haben. Diese Art der Politik ist die Fortsetzung von Aktionen, Handlungen, und Erschaffung von medialen Realitäten, die lange vorher, auch schon vor und während 1948 zu beobachten waren. Um das zu verdeutlichen will ich die Analyse eines Historikers zur Nakba, also der ersten großen Vertreibung von Palästinensern durch Israel, heranziehen. Eine Beschreibung, die diametral den Geschichten entgegenstehen, welche Vertreter aller politischen Parteien am 17. Mai 2019 im Bundestag verkündeten. Beginnen wir aber mit einer Wertung der Aussagen des IGH / ICJ zu dem Fall „Völkermord durch Israel in Gaza“.Das UrteilCraig Murray, über dessen Beobachtungen des Verfahrens vor dem IGH ich bereits berichtete, nimmt natürlich auch zu dem vorläufigen Votum des Gerichts Stellung (3).Er erklärt, dass der IGH ganz eindeutig das Argument Israels, nämlich in Selbstverteidigung zu handeln, ablehnte, obwohl dies die Hälfte der israelischen Schriftsätze dominierte. Das Gericht stellte nicht nur fest, dass ein plausibler Fall von Völkermord vorliegt, sondern erwähnte die Selbstverteidigung in seinem Zwischenurteil nur ein einziges Mal - und das auch nur, um darauf hinzuweisen, dass Israel sich darauf berufen hatte. Dass der IGH das Recht Israels auf Selbstverteidigung nicht bestätigt, sei vielleicht der wichtigste Punkt in dieser Zwischenverfügung. Das Argument, das jeder westliche Staatschef verwendet, sei vom IGH zurückgewiesen worden, indem es einfach ignoriert wurde.„Was mir an der Entscheidung des IGH am meisten auffiel, war, dass der Beschluss viel detaillierter auf die Beweise für den Völkermord einging, als es nötig gewesen wäre. Die Beschreibung war eindeutig.“ (3)Dabei verweist Murray auf Paragraf 46. Der Grund, warum dies so entscheidend ist, sei, dass der Gerichtshof nicht sagt, dass Südafrika dies behauptet. Der Gerichtshof sage, dass dies die Fakten sind. Es ist eine Tatsachenfeststellung des Gerichtshofs. Für Murray ist das von alleräußerster Wichtigkeit. Craig Murray is a former British diplomat who was the ambassador to Uzbekistan and has held posts in Nigeria, Poland and Ghana. His assignments in Poland included work towards the nation's post-communist transition and entry into the European Union. He is better known for his human rights activism, and being a leading advocate for the release of Julian Assange. He has spoken out vocally over the UK's involvement in aiding the US and the conjuring of false evidence leading to the Iraq invasion. After leaving the Liberal Democrat Party, Craig has been more active in the Scottish independence movement. For several years he also served as the rector of the University of Dundee.  He was also arrested in violation of his freedom of speech for blogging about a Scottish scandal involving Scotland's former First Minister, which led to his serving time in prison. This month, Craig took his complaint to the United Nations.  In 2006, he received the Sam Adams Award for Integrity in Intelligence for his campaigning against torture, nd he has rejected three honors from the late Queen Elizabeth. Craig is also the author of several books, notably "Murder in Samarkand" about his experiences in Central Asia, and "Sikunder Burnes: Master of the Great Game" -- an non-fictional historical spy story that revolved around  the rivalry between the British and Russian empires' maneuvers in Central Asia during the 19th century.    He has also authored over 130 peer-reviewed articles for professional and academic publications. Craig's website with articles is CraigMurray.org.uk

Craig Murray is curator for the Duxford historical site at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, working within the Cold War and Late 20th Century team. His main specialism, apart from the history of RAF Duxford, is the Troubles in Northern Ireland. He is currently planning and researching the IWM's 2023 Northern Ireland exhibition.
