Ranjeet Banerjee is an extremely successful and experienced medical technology executive who has spent the last 25 years with Becton Dickinson (“BD”), a global medical technology company that is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics, and the delivery of care. Most recently, he was a BD Corporate Executive Vice President as well as President of the US and Canada regions with responsibility for $6 billion in revenue. Over his career at BD, Ranjeet has been responsible for growing businesses in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, pioneering new business models, and developing innovative product and service offerings to deliver a differentiated experience to BD's customers. Ranjeet earned a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and brings a wealth of experience in growing branded, medical-oriented, high-technology businesses both organically and through acquisition. The last mile of the Life Sciences value chain is crucially important when transporting drugs, vaccines, and biologics that must remain within controlled conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.). Poor conditions and even small excursions can significantly impact the quality and efficacy of the products. Building the right strategy for the last mile should never be an afterthought! It was shocking to learn that an estimated $40-50B is lost annually due to inefficiencies and poor conditions that lead to waste (=products being discarded)! As Ranjeet noted, "the pace of technology and innovation is often faster than the pace of collaboration". To stop the waste, no one company can "do it alone". Listen to Ranjeet describe what it would take to build a game-changing strategy and path to stop the waste and truly advance life sciences value chain innovation.

The universe is made up of stories, where everyone is a storyteller. In this edition of Founder Thesis, Akshay Datt speaks with Ranjeet Pratap Singh, Co-founder and CEO, Pratilipi. He is an alumnus of FMS, Delhi and has worked with Vodafone before starting off with his entrepreneurial journey. Belonging to a modest background, Ranjeet has always been a voracious reader and preferred reading content in Hindi. To bridge this gap, Ranjeet launched Pratilipi in 2015, as a storytelling platform, primarily focussing on Indian languages, thereby allowing people to share the stories in the language of their choice. And today, Pratilipi is India's largest vernacular storytelling platform with over 350,000 writers and 28 million monthly active readers in 12 languages. Tune in to this episode to hear Ranjeet speak about how Pratilipi is opening the gateway to vernacular literature and making it easily available for the readers. What you must not miss! When Ranjeet Banerjee talks about the work his organization, Cold Chain Technologies (CCT), does to transport vaccines and other biologics that must be temperature controlled, he stresses that the company doesn't solely rely on technology. CCT approaches its work by first considering what problems it's trying to solve, developing use cases, and then considering whether a technology solution might be the best way forward. In this episode, we learn how a combination of Ranjeet's background in chemical engineering, his experience working in the health care space, and a holistic approach to leadership and problem-solving enable him to lead CCT to constantly innovate in the supply chain space. Ranjeet also discusses the benefits of a customer-first mindset and shares insights applicable to leaders in industries beyond health care. Read the episode transcript here. About a decade ago, English was the language of access, if one didn’t know the language, in most cases you’d end up with limited opportunities. But today we are experiencing a whole new India with the country opening up for the wider masses thanks to the internet revolution. With new platforms emerging in the content space everyday will vernacular content be the key to reach the next billion internet users in India? In the age of binge-watching and short format content, is the current generation a video-only or a video-first generation? When it comes to monetization, how much should one focus on value creation via-a-vis value capture? Ranjeet grew up in a small village with less than 1000 population. He used to go to the nearby city on weekdays to attend school and return to the village on the weekend. As a kid he was a voracious reader, starting with first his school textbooks, later devouring Hindi literature, comics, and novels. As he grew up, he slowly shifted to reading English as there was no regional content available online. Coming from a humble background, getting a stable job was what his family wanted for him. After completing his MBA, he got a job at Vodafone. He liked the job but after a few years, he wanted to do something more challenging. So quit his job and decided to startup. As he started searching for business ideas, many of his friends advised him why doesn't do something to solve online regional content - a problem Ranjeet often cribbed about. As he started talking to people about this problem - he received many suggestions - Indians don't read, People don't read long-form content anymore, No one wants regional content. But he knew that wasn't true and had a deep conviction that there was a space for an Indian regional content player. Thus, Pratilipi was born. Today Pratilip is India's largest regional content platform with over 3 lac writers and more than 2.5 crore monthly active users For more details visit: ajuniorvc.com/podcast

They say a strong vision and ambition take you on the journey of discovering something unique. On this episode of Shunya One, Shally Modi talks to us about how she met Ranjeet while working for Vodafone and how the idea of making a platform for authors came up and later was called Pratilipi. Shally tells us about working with a set of like-minded individuals who challenged her on a day-to-day basis, how even though she was not drawing any salary in the early days, she knew that all she needed was to learn her way around these new set of challenges. Shiladitya and Amit also talk to Shally about Pratilipi, from starting out to becoming the huge platform it is now - Did you know that there are almost 3 and a half lakh pieces of content being published and over 4 lakh writers who are writing for Pratilipi?. 70% of fresh writers coming in a month are hardened readers on the platform and want to try out something different. Shiladitya and Amit ask Shally about the ratio of readers to creators, how it is different from other mediums, the number of people they started with and how it is important to be innovating in this space to be relevant. In this Episode, I speak with Ranjeet Pratap Singh, Co-Founder & CEO of Pratilipi. This Episode is called the Power of Compounding, for Ranjeet's ideologies and Pratilipi's journey intersect at the core belief in Compounding, a principle, which works like magic in life, and more so in Starting Up. Pratilipi is by far India's largest storytelling platform with over 25 million daily active users, coming on the platform for hours through the month, browsing through literature, stories, comics, audio books, podcasts and more by the best creators, writers and artists of the country, in most Indian Languages that you can think of. Ranjeet comes from an extremely modest background and is an engineer by education, with an MBA from FMS Delhi (Batch of '12). Life was serving him well in the traditional sense of it, until he realised that he was not being challenged enough. An avid reader, he found it difficult to get the books of his choice online, for all websites only had English content. Thus, he took the onus upon himself, and set out to test if there would actually be a market for this Product. After much validation, he was convinced, and he set out to build the future with Pratilipi.
