https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJNDJzxewow Maysel Brar, who has worked in the movement under her maidan name of Kathy Sharp, was Harpal's close comrade and companion. They were married in 1966, raised Ranjeet and Joti together, and remained close collaborators, through all difficulties, throughout 60 years of struggle. Her thoughtful tribute is both moving and profound. This video was shot in January 2025 at Harpal Brar's memorial service in Bolivar Hall, London. It was a moving tribute and celebration of his life, held with his friends and family, representatives of Socialist nations and fraternal political organisations. Many comrades spoke in moving and generous terms, giving solidarity with his family and party, and paying tribute to his political contribution. We will share the messages of all the comrades who spoke at the service. This video was shot in January 2025 at Harpal Brar's memorial service in Bolivar Hall, London. He was a great leader of the world communist movement, holding aloft the torch of reason, of proletarian class consciousness and struggle in the dark days after the collapse of the USSR - when the imperialist bourgeoisie were riding high and proclaiming their rotten and parasitic system to be "the end of history". You can read his full obituary here: https://www.lalkar.org/article/4613/h... And find his books here: https://shop.thecommunists.org/produc... He was the editor of the paper of the Indian Workers' Association, and the anti-imperialist workers' journal LALKAR, which can be found here: https://www.lalkar.org Harpal played a role in many of the great liberation struggles of his time, from Zimbabwe and South Africa, Vietnam and Korea, Palestine and the Middle East to the great anti-imperialist cause of Irish reunification and national liberation. And of course he struggled tirelessly to solve the central question of the liberation of the working class from capitalist exploitation and imperialism. Harpal wrote extensively on the question of proletarian revolution and womens liberation. Harpal's criticism of the Labour Party as an imperialist party of Social Democracy is essential reading for all British workers. He wrote on Indian, Zimbabwean, Korean and Vietnamese national liberation, on bourgeois nationalism, black separatism and identity politics. He wrote of course extensively on the great revolutionary movements of the Soviet people and of China, and he wrote on the historical roots of Zionism and imperialism in the Middle East with specific reference to the cause of the Palestinian people for national liberation and self determination. Harpal was undoubtedly a great disciple of Marx and Lenin, and recognised that the Great Socialist October Revolution in Russia as a watershed of cultural enlightenment and freedom for Humanity. Harpal's critique of Trotskyism, his defence of the revolutionary teaching and leadership of Joseph Stalin, and his critique of Khrushchevism and revisionism that caused the downfall of Soviet Socialism is among the lasting theoretical contributions he bequeathed to the communist movement. We are grateful and moved by all of the tributes from his friends and comrades - that flowed to us even before we could speak to any but our closest comrades and family. To all of Harpal's comrades and loved ones: we are sorry for your loss too. We are united in our grief. And our determination to carry on his work. Which is all of our work. The Party was Harpal's wider family in every sense. And remains ours. If Harpal could say one thing to us it would be: “guard the party as you guard the apple of your eye.” He struggled to found and build it in the most difficult conjunction of circumstances, after the fall of the once mighty USSR. It is a great gift - the best of British - that he leaves us. A lutta continua!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxQdXriEJwg Ranjeet Brar, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) delivers the closing speech at our celebration to mark the 108th anniversary of the Great Socialist October Revolution of November 7th 1917. There have been many revolutions, but not all have had the same significance - because not all are able to perpetuate themselves as the new state apparatus, and create a lasting government that goes on to benefit the people in a creative and positive way, embodying the ideas of the movements and masses that brought about the revolution in the first instance. The October Revolution was such a revolution, and moreover it was a popular mass uprising against the tyranny of Tsardom and Reactionary Capitalist Imperialism that had not only created a world groaning under the weight of colonial slavery, but was drowning that world in blood in order to re-divide its markets, resources and wage-slaves among the chief imperialist powers, the Robber-Barons of finance capital. The October Revolution, in Lenin's words, broke the iron circle of imperialist ties, and the workers of all countries applauded them and supported them for their brave action - that showed the clear path forward for all workers and oppressed. "Peace! Bread! Land!" was the slogan of the October Revolution, and it was the Russian Revolution of October 1917 that brought the end of the 'great' inter-imperialist World War. This year we also celebrate the 80th anniversary victory in the Great anti-Fascist war (WW2), in which the Heroic peoples of the USSR gave 27 million lives, and the Chinese People a staggering 40 million lives in order to vanquish Fascism. Fascism was the naked aggressive terroristic dictatorship of the capitalist class - which the latter resort to when the workers rose in revolutionary temper, organisation and action - in order to suppress the workers and drown the revolution in blood. We see today, that in the face of its global crisis of overproduction, in a desperate attempt to save the moribund capitalist system, that the NATO countries, in particular the Anglo-America imperialists and EU imperialist ruling class, have resurrected fascism and are waging desperate wars against he Peoples of Russia - this time using Ukrainian Fascist strom-troops - and waging a genocidal war upon the peoples of the Middle East, notably in Palestine. They are fighting too in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Congo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, and continue to tighten their financial and political stranglehold upon all neo-colonial countries, while attempting to subvert the socialist nations of Cuba and the DPRK, and all independent countries - notably those of BRICS, with an overwhelming strategic vision and dream of bringing down Russia and China and securing once more their 'unipolar' world order. Yet for all that, the tide of global anti-imperialist resistance is rising. We salute all who have joined this heroic struggle against NATO imperialism, and say unequivocally that British Workers too must break our chains of bondage to our ruling class and join that fight. A better, socialist world is possible. Join us and join the struggle for the liberation of Humanity! @garlandn @revolutionaryblackoutnetwork @neutralitystudies Subscribe! Donate! Ranjeet Banerjee is an extremely successful and experienced medical technology executive who has spent the last 25 years with Becton Dickinson (“BD”), a global medical technology company that is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics, and the delivery of care. Most recently, he was a BD Corporate Executive Vice President as well as President of the US and Canada regions with responsibility for $6 billion in revenue. Over his career at BD, Ranjeet has been responsible for growing businesses in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, pioneering new business models, and developing innovative product and service offerings to deliver a differentiated experience to BD's customers. Ranjeet earned a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and brings a wealth of experience in growing branded, medical-oriented, high-technology businesses both organically and through acquisition. The last mile of the Life Sciences value chain is crucially important when transporting drugs, vaccines, and biologics that must remain within controlled conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.). Poor conditions and even small excursions can significantly impact the quality and efficacy of the products. Building the right strategy for the last mile should never be an afterthought! It was shocking to learn that an estimated $40-50B is lost annually due to inefficiencies and poor conditions that lead to waste (=products being discarded)! As Ranjeet noted, "the pace of technology and innovation is often faster than the pace of collaboration". To stop the waste, no one company can "do it alone". Listen to Ranjeet describe what it would take to build a game-changing strategy and path to stop the waste and truly advance life sciences value chain innovation.
