Addiction really is only the symptom of a greater issue, there is always a trauma involved and an emotional pain that we have learned to suppress by using. Having been involved in other recovery programs I wanted to bring a solution that is empowering, accessible, empathetic and not take you away from life. I have overcome emotional abuse, stroke and mental health difficulties. I survived to thrive, you CAN too. I have gone from addiction to satisfaction. I take pride in that I am 100% authentic, experienced and client-focused. I owe a lot to my addiction as recovering from it has gone on to improve and develop my life as a whole. My stroke was a blessing too. Life is for living. I am a very content, disabled, single mother of two amazing children. Who will not suffer from the problems of past generations. Disaddicted.coach

Angela has been voted the best hypnotherapist within her areas for the past twelve consecutive years. She has received several awards and has supported people with various addictions, traumas, mental health issues, fears and phobias, and general life situations. She has successfully healed and faced the challenges addressed in my book, “The Undetected Narcissist” as well as in her podcast show, “The Undetected Narcissist Podcast”. Angela is passionate about teaching people about the polarity of human beings because we live in a world of polarity. Angela knows that when young people leave home, the world is like a deep ocean. She wants to give these young minds a lift vest or boat because they will be swimming with sharks. Some will sink and some will swim. When people are educated and informed about narcissism, mental health issues, and trauma bonding, they are less likely to get victimized and wounded. Angela has been able to connect the dots between childhood trauma and narcissism because a narcissist is not born that way, we humans created them. Therefore, Angela wants to reduce domestic violence and psychological abuse by educating and teaching people about narcissism without the stigma of guilt or shame. She wants to help everyone better understand themselves and how people's behaviors and actions impact one another coming from a place of love, compassion, hope, and wisdom. Because everyone on this planet will run into someone narcissistic like a boss, coworker, friend, family member, landlord, scammer, or intimate partner. And everyone will experience either direct or indirect trauma as well as some mental health challenges. That's why Angela's goal is to take you out of confusion and into clarity.   Social Media Links: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/angelamyerun/ Facebook: Angela Myer Twitter: https://twitter.com/AngelaMyerUN Podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1972197 Website: https://www.undetectednarcissist.com Email: angela@undetectednarcissist.com Blog: https://undetectednarcissist.com/blog/ Member of the Mental Health News Radio Network

My life is proof that a life filled with addiction, abuse, and tremendous suffering can be completely transformed into one filled with hope, prosperity, and genuine happiness. With 35-years clean and sober, I have defied the odds of the disease of addiction and I am devoted to guiding others to do the same. After finding my own sobriety, I discovered that my calling and purpose lies in empowering others to find theirs. Today, I am a renowned addiction recovery coach, interventionist, author and public speaker. I found fame in Hollywood at a young age, pivoting a teenage modeling career into roles in television and film while earning a place as a world-renowned Playboy Centerfold. From the outside, it appeared I had it all: beauty, success, elite connections, while traveling the world. But behind the glamour, I was in extraordinary pain. I was groomed and victimized by sexual predators in positions of power. I began using drugs and alcohol to cope with the trauma. My drug use spiraled into addiction, and I found myself at a crossroads, realizing I would succumb to the disease if I did not fight for my life. I fought hard and remarkably found sobriety at the young age of 23 and I have never looked back, while maintaining my sobriety for over three decades. I truly understand the complexity of the social, physical, and emotional aspects of alcoholism and addiction. In addition to learning through my own experiences, I have studied addiction and recovery while becoming a Nationally Certified Recovery Coach I and II and National Certified Interventionist. In 2019, I finally published my memoir, Naked Truth, The Fall and Rise of Dona Speir, where I recount the story of my childhood, modeling and acting career, and victimization by powerful men. I also delved into the details of my addiction and subsequent triumphant recovery. At the heart of my healing, I believe in using humor and enthusiasm to overcome even the darkest of moments. I have mentored thousands of people in discovering sobriety and leading fulfilling, joyous lives, and am committed to mentoring thousands more. #120 – Adam Carroll: Addict 2 Athlete

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 13, 2022 48:20

Hi, my name's Adam and I've been clean and sober now for over 9 years, racking up daily gains and wins, growing strong odaat (one day at a time) since seeking help and changing my life in 2013. If I hadn't, jails, institutions and death were to be my fate—instead becoming addicted to bettering myself and helping others better themselves. I was a very insecure child, uncomfortable and feeling of loneliness all too common, which led to some serious bullying. I turned to drugs and alcohol to cope, the only things that made me feel ok and started dealing at age 14. Got kicked out of my mom's and dropped out of high school, and so the high cost of low living in the fast lane going nowhere fast ensued. Full-time career using and selling, had my own place early on, even a vehicle with no licence. Hanging with the wrong crowd, but feeling that false sense of belonging, respect, strength, and people feared me, taking away all my insecurities and I was invincible. My life of addiction and crime riddled with jail stints, violence, near death experiences, drug deals gone south, crazy long benders, and ultimately, loss of friends and family, and almost my own life.  When I finally decided to turn my addictive personality into a positive direction; started going to the gym and working out everyday; got addicted to learning and accumulated many certifications and knowledge adding to my lived experience.  Today, I'm on mission to help others the same way I was but with a more specific and holistic approach through the @theaddict2athletemethod, focusing on taking care of the mind, body and soul by combining the 12 steps and meetings, breathwork, sober coaching/peer counselling, and addressing past trauma. Why do Breathwork? To truly understand the power of stillness and the power of the breath to quiet the analytical mind to remember who they are and where they come from. To become a more self aware being. My definition of self-awareness: It is the awareness that you (the Soul) are not your Avatar (the body and mind/brain).  It means that you have become aware/awakened and/or remembered that you are a Soul/Entity that is having a human experience with your Sentient Being.  It means becoming aware that you have been on autopilot... identifying with all of your human experiences, deeply conditioning you to a low vibration (anxiousness, fear, shame, etc.)  It means you are now aware and have come to the understanding that you need to heal and or retrain your Sentient Being/Avatar (the body and mind/brain) WITH LOVE through STILLNESS/PRESENCE... BEING, so that you can raise to your TRUE vibration... LOVING AWARENESS (acceptance, empathy, forgiveness, etc.).  To discover your true power and potential as a Sovereign Light Being... God! I love helping others reach their goals, nothing makes me happier than to work with individuals who are motivated and ready to also be the game changers in their lives. I am a mental health and recovery advocate.  My qualifications are as follows: Mental Health & Addiction Treatment Field: Certified Trauma Recovery Coach  Certified Sober Coach  Certified Breathwork Therapist Certified Addiction Supervisor/Peer Counsellor Fitness & Nutrition Field: Certified Elite Personal Trainer Certified Nutritionist Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified FRC Mobility Specialist Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist  Facebook | Instagram

'Beyond Recovery' is a podcast hosted by Matt, where guests come on to share their journeys to, and through, recovery. Matt battled alcohol dependency from his late teens into his early 30s. He was a daily drinker from age 21 to 30. At age 27, Matt hospitalized himself with acute pancreatitis. While this was initially framed as the wake-up call Matt needed, after 3 days in the hospital, he was back out drinking within 24hrs of being released. At age 30, Matt hit a rock bottom moment which led to 3 years + of sobriety. At a friend's wedding, he decided he would attempt “moderation” again, which he tried for the next several years. When Matt's dad passed away suddenly in late 2018 (he had been a heavy drinker his whole adult life) Matt decided on the weekend of his father's Celebration of Life that it was time to sober up once again! That was in April 2019. Matt is now back at 3 years+ sober!

#106 – Jason Rudeen: The Way Out

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 23, 2022 37:12

This is Jason Rudeen, I co host The Way Out Podcast and I'm a person in long term recovery. What that means for me is that I haven't felt the need to touch a drink or a drug since 7/23/2016. My DOC was... well anything! I guess meth was my kryptonite. I support all pathways to recovery. I was a buffet style user so I work my recovery the same way. I draw from many different sources in my own recovery. Getting (and living) clean is something I never imagined I could do. I was addicted to drinking, using and dealing since I was 13. I got clean at 36 so that's 23 years of debauchery. I never knew no other way. On my journey I learned the importance of sharing my story. It can heal me, inspire others and gives them permission to share their own stories! It's therapeutic value is without parallel, as they say!! I am so grateful I found Charles and shared my story with him early on (that's episode 31 if you want to check it out). When he asked me if I wanted to co host and help take the show to the next level I was nervous. I didn't feel qualified, and if I listened to my feelings, I would have cheated myself. Everything you want is on the other side of fear! Say yes! Show up for opportunities if they could potentially benefit you or others. Be willing to get uncomfortable! Start helping others! That's where the real growth happens! My heart is in this show and I'm grateful for every one of you listeners! You all teach me so much. Thank you for your ears and your insights! I hope you find some real help within these episodes. God bless you all! The Way Out Podcast | Instagram Find out more at http://www.recoverysurvey.com Check out our podcast host, Pinecast.
