What up, Beasts. This conversation with Rob Lohman cracked me wide open in the best way. Rob's story is one of redemption, resilience, and raw honesty, and it hits deep. From battling addiction and suicidal ideation to rediscovering his faith and building a new life rooted in purpose, Rob doesn't just talk about recovery, he lives it. He shares the moment God told him, “You're done,” and the weight of that literal and metaphorical barbell he nearly let end it all. Instead, Rob chose to fight. To feel. To recover. And now he helps others do the same through his coaching, podcasting, and deeply personal work in the addiction recovery world. We also get into the messy middle of healing, how guilt, shame, and insecurity linger even after the substances are gone, and how movement, connection, and calling things like scars and spider veins by name (shoutout to Fred) can help us reclaim our power. Rob reminds us that recovery isn't a checkbox. It's a way of life. A decision we make every single day. This episode is packed with hard truths, grace-filled wisdom, and that signature blend of faith and grit that makes Rob who he is. If you're in the middle of the mess, this one's for you.As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs at your heart strings and/or I hope you laugh.Bio: From the depths of addiction and incarceration to thriving as a dynamic speaker and entrepreneur, Rob Lohman is a powerful example of redemption and resilience. Sober since 2001, Rob uses his story of addiction, suicide ideation, prison, and ultimate transformation to inspire others through keynote speaking, coaching, interventions, and advocacy. Rob Lohman's battle with addiction began at just 14 years old, fueled by a family history of alcoholism. Throughout his teenage and young adult years, he lived a chaotic, chameleon-like existence, losing his true identity to drinking and drug use. Despite the mistakes he made during those years, Rob credits his journey with giving him the powerful stories he now uses to help others move from addiction to recovery. One night, while drinking heavily at a bar in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rob experienced a moment of divine intervention. He heard the words, "You're done," in the middle of the crowd and later, at home, came within seconds of taking his own life. It was the nudge of his dog, Jake, and a flood of thoughts about his family that saved him. The next day, Rob reached out for help, attended his first AA meeting, and has remained sober for 18 years, building a new life filled with family, purpose, and faith. Sober since 2001, Rob Lohman helps people suffering from substance abuse to find freedom from addiction and incarceration. He does this through sharing his testimony, Professional Interventions and Recovery Coaching, Advocacy, Self-Published Author and being the host of Beyond The Bars Radio Podcast and Addiction, Freedom & Faith Podcast Rob has been through the wringer, AND continues to press on! I started it for my daughter's and my nieces to help men to grow to be someone worthy of them and other little girls one day. Men are just not being taught how to be their best sleeves as men anymore.I have spoken to small groups and large audiences over the years as well as writing blogs, bulletins, copy and educational documentation. I have been married for 21 years and have 2 young daughters who are at the root of all I do. I am an “indie” podcaster, youtuber and creator. Anyone can transform their life. Yes, including the most messed up addict you can think of. Welcome to episode 89 of Warriors Unmasked! Today Chuck sits down with suicide survivor, recovering addict, professional coach and speaker, bestselling author, radio and podcast host, and mental health advocate Mr. Rob Loman. Rob has a powerful testimony that only a supernatural intervention could start to explain. In this episode, Rob share his journey of drinking from the age of 14, being a full-blown addict at 21, to now being sober for 21+ years. How does something like this happen? Hit play to find out. As many addiction stories go, unfortunately, substance abuse isn't the only problem that the addict deals with when they are reaching for a drink or grabbing for a needle. More often than not, they are struggling with darker underlying issues like suicidal thoughts and actions, depression, and more. After finding himself at rock bottom, he attempted suicide one evening in an effort to make the pain all go away. Thankfully, the attempt was interrupted by his loving dog and Rob made the decision to live and find healing. Rob would agree that DOG spelled backward being GOD is no coincidence in his story. During our conversation, Rob will share why he believes that God is the answer to our problems and why He is the real reason why he was able to turn his life around. Fast forward to today, and Rob is helping people worldwide find hope, identity, and purpose. There is so much waiting for you in this episode, we hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did! Sitting in jail - facing a 13-year sentence - Rob Lohman had plenty of time to review his past: alcohol and drug addiction, gambling, bankruptcies, and even a suicide attempt. That was in 2012. Since then, Rob, who was released from prison after less than a year, has not only turned his life around, he's used savvy self-marketing to build a for-profit business guiding thousands of other men and women who've hit rock bottom — be it in their personal or business lives — to a fresh start. As Rob tells host and award-winning journalist Dean Rotbart, his life story teaches that the same character traits that feed personal failure can be harnessed to rebound and achieve unprecedented success. Your Present Doesn't Define You. But Who You Choose to Trust Does Define Your Future. We all experience a “meanwhile” in life. Those interminable and challenging moments when God is strategically laboring behind the scenes, yet we find ourselves questioning. Such is Joseph's story—it might be yours as well.Joseph was a victim: of circumstances, of family dysfunction, of slavery, of unfair accusations, and of sexual harassment. However, he still walked in his destiny. You are the “Joseph” of your own story. While circumstances may be working against you, and the enemy is attacking, you can fulfill your God ordained destiny. This Bible study from trusted women's ministry leader Carol McLeod will help women realize that what the enemy meant for evil, God will certainly use for good! How to Have an Intervention with Rob Lohman Untapped Keg Ep 126 If you have ever wondered how to have an intervention, this is the episode you should listen to. Rob is a trained interventionist and has written a book about how to have an intervention! Come learn the most important skill to have while staging an intervention. RJ Zimmerman talks with Rob Lohman about how to have an Intervention. They go into the best way to stage one, what to think about when you're planning one, and the road to walk people to when it's time to make a change for the better. RJ and Rob get very deep in this episode about what really is the catalyst to make a change like going sober, moving past gambling, how to realize you need to stop watching porn. There's so many things that we do that we justify because we don't see the damage it is causing around us and in our wake. It's not about making the change for those around you, it's about doing what is best for you. Once you are the best you everyone around you will be positively impacted too! Episode 274 is about getting over your addiction. Some addictive behaviors are harmless, but for the most part they're destructive. How can you break free from these patterns? Rob Lohman, previously an alcoholic and now turned to a great coach on addiction, deals with this topic. He explains this in his upcoming book Addiction Intervention. Did you know that addiction is hereditary? Epigenetics has everything to do with it. Just because you feel there's something wrong with you, doesn't mean there actually is! What really matters most, though, is how we respond to our addictions; how they are transformed within us. Do you want to overcome addiction? Our Men on Purpose community can help you with how to break these patterns. In today's episode, I'm speaking with Rob Lohman of LIFTED From The Rut, which exists to help people suffering from addictions to Restore Hope, Identity & Purpose to your life. Rob is also host of two podcasts: “Beyond the Bars” and “Addiction, Freedom and Faith” Rob shares his journey of his journey through mental health struggles, addiction, suicide attempts and recovery. Rob got sober in 2001, and shared his story of becoming an entrepreneur after being an 8th grade math teacher. He's always been an entrepreneur at heart, but felt led to help people in recovery. Rob has leaned on his faith to guide him in staying sober, being an amazing business coach, husband and dad, AND in writing his upcoming book, “The Art of Intervention.” Rob's best advice is to engage strong mentors, be honest, and share the “last 10%” you're not telling others. That last piece of advice is what really touched my soul. What is the last 10% you're not sharing? How would you free yourself if you were to release that burden and trust a loved one, mentor or mental health counselor with that last bit of heaviness you're carrying? Bio: Sober since 2001 after a suicide attempt, Rob helps people find FREEDOM from substance abuse and feeling "stuck in a rut" to living a transformed life. In this rendition of The Way Out we've got an outstanding interview with Interventionist, Recovery Coach, Author, Podcaster, speaker and person in long-term recovery, Rob Lohman. As Rob shares with us in our interview, all the amazing aforementioned titles attached to Rob's name are the result of his anything but linear journey to and through recovery to this point which is precisely why Rob's story is so incredibly relatable, enlightening, and moving. After years of sobriety Rob experienced a personal crisis due to what in retrospect amounted to failing to continue to progress and stay connected to his recovery. A crisis, that landed him in prison, and out of that Rob began a renewed journey to a fuller, more enduring and rewarding Recovery that was the result of leaning in and doing the hard work true recovery requires. The results have been nothing short of remarkable for Rob, his family, and for the people his amazing work in Recovery coaching, Podcasting, Speaking, and writing touches and truly helps, all of which Rob shares with us in the interview that's about to unfold before your very ears so listen up.
