Maybe it is us but it seems there is a new term being used in the world almost every single week. This is true this week with the term “unbossing” which means something different to businesses than it does to workers. Basically workers no longer want to work in management roles, for a variety of reasons. Dan and Nicole both share personal stories that fall into this world. Have you ever visited a restaurant or store that is located near a high school, particularly when that high school has a lunch break or when it ends for the day? There is a McDonald's in Virginia that has a new 21 and over policy because of the behavior of the kids from a nearby school. Nicole and Dan discuss and talk about how scary kids can be. And finally, road rage has taken a turn (pun intended) and you will never believe what happened when a woman got mad and lost her shit. You can watch the (somewhat graphic) video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DJFKE4eOjlk/ Nicole sent this to Dan but did not tell him what it was about. We encourage you to just watch it before reading anything about it. Thank you so much for checking us out! Spinners, we may have to write you an IOU on bonus content this week, we have some scheduling issues we are trying to work out. But we promise, we will load you up on bonus content as soon as we are able!

Dan kicks things off by saying that he would like to be in charge of making the rules. This is not a new statement but what set him off this time? Qdoba! That is right, after an enraging experience at Qdoba, Dan has some new rules he would like to put in place. Think you know what they are? Only one way to find out! Nicole's battle with her TV/internet/phone carrier took an unexpected turn when it appeared her phone was blocked by the carrier. How did she find out? What happened? It is a story for the ages! We also find out that both her husband AND Dan think it is hilarious when she gets really mad. Dan was in Duluth over the weekend and has some interesting things to say about the population there and had quite an experience involving Venmo. What do you do when nature calls but your plane is descending? In one case that recently made the news, you take off your pants and poop with there on your seat. This actually happened on an inbound flight into Chicago's Midway airport, on a Southwest flight. Choose your own seat, indeed. And finally, a kid scratches a painting in a museum, and while Nicole wants to talk about who should pay and kids running wild, all Dan can talk about is how he could make art equal to this particular piece. Will he? Should he? Let us know what YOU think! All of this and oh so much more on episode 97.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their inductees and there is always at least one where Nicole says to herself, “wait, aren't they already IN the hall of fame??” and this year is no different. So Nicole and Dan go through the list of the new folks and share some thoughts on who they thought was already in, what made someone get in this time and just general thoughts on their music. Neither has actually been to the museum so it might be time for a SSP road trip! Speaking of award shows, the Oscars were in the news this week with a new rule for academy voters. The new rule is that folks have to watch all the moves before voting. HOW WAS THIS NOT ALREADY A RULE?! The team chats about the “new” rule and the Oscars in general.  And finally, the great Chicago liquor that is Malort announced a new item on Monday, hard candy! We talk about the brand, their marketing team and the experience that is Malort. We also reminisce about some times we had on the radio, eating things that we will never forget. All of this and more in this week's episode. Thanks again for joining us, we will see you next week! Unless you are a spinner. If you are, you have some BONUS content coming your way.

Hello and welcome to episode 95 of the Still Spinning Podcast, this week with a visual screen share for those who watch the video. More on that in a bit. This episode was recorded on 4/20 which means it was Easter AND 4/20. A double holiday for sure. There was a space flight this past week that got a lot of attention and the podcast would be remiss not to give it attention as well. 5 famous ladies went up into space and got a lot of flak. Dan agrees with most of the flak being unwarranted BUT there was one big issue he brought to the table and that is the fact that the flight was called “Making Space for Women.” Listen in to hear his biggest issue with this. There is something out there called “Flight Theory” and it is creating some havoc in the travel community. The idea is you can arrive 15 minutes before boarding and just breeze onto your flight. Well, you can imagine Dan and Nicole have some thoughts on that. They also share their travel timing and tips on TSA precheck.(the tip is you should have it) A woman took to the internet to get feedback on her letting her kid eat snacks they had not yet paid for while grocery shopping and the internet had a LOT to say about it. And so do the podcasters! We chat about the idea of even doing this as well as some hidden “grossness” within the idea of it. Speaking of gross, there is a new research team working on lab-grown chicken and it is GROSS. We share the story, and some images, of the meat and the process. It is not necessarily a new idea BUT this piece of chicken is the biggest one they have grown so far. Did I mention it looks (and sounds) gross?? All of this and more on this week's episode! All of this at stillspinningpodcast.com.   Ever have a day when you realize you have your underwear on inside out?? Nicole has and it was the day this was recorded so THAT is how we kick things off on this episode. Where can we possibly go from there??   We can go into talking about a new “fad” that is sweeping the nation (but is it?). Hatchelorette Parties. You read that right. Think baby shower meets bachelorette party and then remove all the things you know about both. We discuss this new trend and dip our toes into baby showers of yesteryear. Dan also shares his “secret” to a long and happy marriage and the story involves a dishwasher.    Daylight Saving time always seems to be in the news and today is no different. The US is looking to do away with it. What would that mean? Have they really thought it through? You know Nicole and Dan have not but they will discuss anyway! It leads in a discussion on military time and Celsius versus Fahrenheit.    Ever left something in a car? Well Uber collects the lost and found stuff (which as I type that, seems odd. It is not like there is an office to drop all this stuff off at… is there??) Either way, they released a new list of weird stuff left in cars and I gotta say, some if it is really weird. Dan learns what the term LARPer means and literally cannot stop laughing.   It was a good day here at the Still Spinning Podcast! Thanks so much for joining us.

How does this tie into the Crocodile Hunter's adult son and his new underwear campaign? Tune in to find out. Dan thinks it is weird and creepy that “older” ladies are all about this new campaign but Nicole thinks hey, old is not dead!   Bathroom Divorce is a new trend and honestly, this one I totally understand. The idea of each person having their own bathroom. Nicole and Dan both share their current bathroom situations and Dan tells us why he always brings his own toiletries to a hotel. Nicole will never look at the hotel ones the same way. Dan also shares the two things he NEEDS from a hotel, think you know what they are? I bet you cannot guess one of them!   NOT A JOKE, KFC has partnered with a toothpaste company to make TOOTHPASTE THAT TASTES LIKE CHICKEN. I could barf just typing that. April Fool's inspired this but it is a real thing, You can also get a KFC toothbrush. So gross.    And lastly, casual dining places are folding faster than you can say Hooters. Why? Dan and Nicole discuss the changes that have happened, their own experiences with some of the bankruptcy chains and Dan admits his Hooters past was mostly to make Nicole mad.    All of this and so much more on episode 93 of the Still Spinning Podcast.

You can find old episodes, merch and all the info you need on becoming a sponsor on our website, stillspinningpodcast.com. As you likely know, Dan is a weather nerd. He out-nerds himself this episode talking about his new rain gauge and what he plans on doing with it. Nicole gives him crap but actually, this is kinda cool.   Bears were in the news a lot this week. First off, there is an animal welfare group in Europe who does a hibernating bears March Madness type event and Nicole is here for it. Conversely, there is a new book coming out about bear attacks and Nicole learns that on average, 30-40 people are attacked EVERY YEAR in the US by bears.   McDonald's might be bringing back all-day breakfast which leads to a discussion on what food items/places would we bring back if we could. Dan had a list, Nicole could think of a few. But can we all agree the OLD apple pies McD's had is the clear winner??   And finally, the BEES! We talk about the bees, how many are dying, what is happening and Dan has some strong thoughts on the the way these stories are presented.   All of this and oh so much more on episode 92!

You can now pay for your Door Dash order in INSTALLMENTS. It should surprise no one that both Nicole and Dan have some thoughts and feelings about this idea. Maybe if you cannot afford it all at once, you cannot afford it at all!   Have you seen the viral mug shot of the attractive women from Georgia? She went viral for a "hot" mug shot but then she went and got arrested AGAIN and something she said as she was hiding from police really hit a nerve with Nicole so she brings this story to the table for discussion.   And finally, Dan is sick and tired of notifications. He also may have a technology addiction but that is for a different discussion at a different time. But he talks about the notification issue he is having and how he is tackling it this week. Hello everyone and welcome to the Still Spinning Podcast, episode #90! We recorded on St. Patrick's Day so we kick things off by talking about Dan's very Irish meal and playing a little game of "How is this Name Pronounced." Nothing like a quiz to get things moving!   There was a large tech startup event last week and Tech Crunch listed off their 10 start-ups to watch and holy moly, I am scared for the future. Also if you have never wanted the TV show Silicon Valley, Nicole highly recommends it and it will give you a really good understanding of start-ups and what all happens in that process. But back to the terrifying future we are leading into. Suffice it to say, there are a LOT of AI startups and one really scares Nicole. It has to do with Zoom and cloning. There is also one that sounds like a good idea and would benefit farmers. We also found out what kind of animals AND farm Dan would have, should he decide to change up his life and become a farmer. I bet you cannot guess what it is.   Have you ever left anything in a hotel room? Have you ever FOUND anything in a hotel room? There is a story from a hotel in Michigan and you will not believe what the housekeeping staff finds under the bed. Dan almost tells us all a story about something HE found under a hotel room bed but decides it is not a story for the general population so he is holding on to it for the Bonus Spin, available to all of our Spinners (aka subscribers). We chat about what it would be like to find such a thing...   All of this and so much more on episode 90! Welcome to episode 89 of the Still Spinning Podcast. It is hard to believe we have done that many episodes! Clocks got shifted forward this week, hope you had all changed the microwave and car clocks, they do not happen automatically.   A teacher took to TikTok and shared the one red flag she sees that indicates she is going to have behavior problems in her classroom and guess what? It is NOT the kid! I think we can all guess what the true problem is. Dan and Nicole discuss how things "used to be" and try to figure out when things all started going to hell. We have some thoughts.   There is only one fruit that Dan really likes. Can you guess what it is? Well scientists have created something that allows this fruit to stay fresh for 24 hours, even if it has been peeled. Terrifying. This leads Nicole and Dan down a path of preservatives and modified foods. And the Shamrock Shake also gets mentioned.   And finally, nude beaches in Germany have some new rules all because the people in clothes were causing some problems. We talk this particular issue, the nude beach in Wisconsin and that one time when Dan booked a comedy gig at a nude campground. But he did not know it was a nude campground.   All of this and so much more on today's episode. Buckle up, folks, because episode 88 of the Still Spinning Podcast with Dan and Nicole is a wild, cranky ride you won't want to miss!   Heads-up: Dan's voice is doing some freaky stuff—like, not quite the Barry White-Paul Harvey mashup that tanked Monday's live show (RIP), but still weird enough to make you go, “Huh?!” Meanwhile, Nicole's in a mood so sour she could curdle milk just by glaring at it. Together, they're serving up a vibe that screams, “Get off our lawn, you whippersnappers!”—and we're here for it.   First up, kid birthday parties just got a whole lot crazier. Picture this: you're RSVPing, wrapping a gift for the little birthday prince or princess, and—BAM—now you're supposed to bring presents for their siblings too?! Yep, “sibling gifts” are a thing now, because apparently no one's allowed to feel left out. Dan and Nicole are like, “What in the actual heck is this nonsense?”   Next, let's talk airplane horror stories. We've all been there—trapped next to the stinky guy, the screaming toddler, or the chatterbox who thinks you're their new BFF. But hold onto your tray tables, because a couple flying to India just raised the bar on mid-flight misery. Spoiler: it's a doozy, and Dan and Nicole are cackling through the chaos.   And for the grand finale, a college kid's suing her high school because—get this—she can't read or write. Yep, she graduated (with honors!), snagged a scholarship, and waltzed into college, only to realize she's functionally illiterate. OH... and she was an HONOR STUDENT! Cue the collective facepalm. You can't script drama this bananas!   So, grab your popcorn and dive into episode 88—it's a grumpy, hilarious mess, and we're loving every second. Want more Still Spinning shenanigans? The newest thing is called Career Catfishing where they apply for a job, interview, get hired and then just NEVER SHOW UP. A staggering percentage of Gen Z have done this and Dan and Nicole just cannot wrap their heads around it. They also chat about being fired and how trusting some radio jobs have been with Dan.   Is creativity a good thing when talking about criminal punishment? Dan and Nicole are not so sure this judge is on the right track. A judge is sentencing shoplifters at Walmart (all one word) to wash cars in the parking lot. What do you think, a good idea or no?   Scams abound in the world today and we issue some warnings! The toll road folks are NOT texting you because of missed tolls - SCAM. Those cheap concert tickets some stranger can "no longer use" - SCAM. Facbook threatening to shut down your business page - SCAM. General rule of life in 2025 - SCAM!   All of this and a little something about Girl Scout Cookies in today's episode. Hello everyone, we are BACK! Nicole was gone last week so we missed an episode, but the Spinners did get some bonus content so if you ever needed a reason to become a Spinner, we think that is it! You can find out how by visiting stillspinningpodcast.com.   Nicole was gone because she was on a CRUISE! That is right, a cruise! She fills everyone in on what her experience was like from boarding the ship to the all-inclusive drink package. Overall, she had a blast because of the people she was with and a special shout out to her Aunt Jean for sending over some cruise essentials, all which came in handy on the boat. Did you know you will still feel like you are moving for DAYS after you get off the boat? Nicole sure did not and so the tale of motion sickness carried on even after disembarking.   The Super Bowl just happened, the Superb Owl for those who know, and Nicole and Dan HAVE to talk about the game and most importantly the commercials. Dan did not watch, and tells us all why, so it was up to Nicole to provide the best and weirdest trends in the commercials. All in all, not the best year for them but certainly not the worst. Lots of facial hair and AI ads, those seemed to be the most common threads.   We hope you enjoyed today's podcast and we look forward to seeing you again next week! Nicole is going on a cruise next week, which is why we will be off. But she is concerned about the whole cruise thing so we start talking about that. That leads us down a path of travel, food ordering and why Dan wants to switch back to only using cash. Bad customer service also rears its head (of course) and Panera gets name-checked. Speaking of travel, Spirit Airlines has announced they are redoing their passenger code of conduct and it seems to us that a lot of these things should just be common sense. There is one rule Dan is not so sure they have to enforce and it has to do with clothing covering a certain body part. I am sure you can figure out what it is.  Thanks for joining us for week 84! Weather is bonkers all over the country and we kick things off by talking about the cold, the snow in Texas and why you should never get out of your car when you are in a multi-car pile-up. Or maybe you should! Any way you look at it, winter blows.   "Soup you can suck on" is not a phrase I ever thought I would type but here we are. Progresso Soup is "honoring" soup month by releasing a hard candy in chicken noodle soup flavor. Dan thinks he would like it, which leads him down a path of using a throat spray live on the air. Nicole would try it but also was gagging so who knows how that would turn out.   If you got a winning lottery ticket as a gift, would you share with the person who gave it? This is our moral dilemma today and we discuss the pros cons and why Nicole never gives lottery tickets as gifts.   Diner etiquette time! Nicole came across a story about someone who expressed this as a truth "if someone invites you out to a meal, you should never order anything that is more expensive than the person who invited you." She had never heard this "rule" so she asked Dan to weigh in on whether this was really a thing or not.   Thanks so much for tuning in! So many questions and we have some thoughts.   Dan loves ketchup chips. There, I said it. But recently something has hit the market that he likes even more. What could it be? A delicious snack that has ALL the flavors? I am intrigued and would love to hear more.   Chicago has a food robot delivery system! This leads to a lot of questions and some opinions from our hosts. What is to stop someone from just stealing the robot?? Dan has seen these little guys in action in Madison but Nicole has never seen such a thing. Dan explains how this is only a step in the removal of humans from the workforce.   And finally, there is a state capital in the US that does not have a Starbucks OR a McDonald's!! Who knew?? HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Welcome to episode of 81 of The Still Spinning Podcast. We missed you all during our break, we hope you all had a nice holiday season.   Dan kicks off by sharing a story of a "unique" request he got from someone trying to hire him to do comedy. It is a doozy and a request he had never heard before, and he has been in the field for over 30 years!   Remember writing checks? Well younger generations do NOT and this leads to a fun interaction with Dan and his nephew. And quite honestly, the nephew has some valid points about checks and how odd they are. We discuss.   The work-from-home days are ending for a lot of people. The story in today's episode is about Amazon and their employees going back for 5 days a week. We talk about work from home, the pandemic and so much more in this segment. And we do not necessarily agree on a few things like productivity. Whose side are YOU on?   And lastly, there is a story of a lonely boat, washed ashore in Milwaukee. Do we talk about how it got there? Sort of. Is the point about that? NO. It is about these people who own a BOAT looking for handouts from the average person to get it unstuck and they started a gofundme. Next, they dive into a convo about how easy it is to just steal food from the to-go section of restaurants that offer order-ahead service.  Have you EVER been asked to prove that you ordered food?  We haven't. The conversation takes a nostalgic turn as they discuss Amazon's controversial decision to cut a key scene from It's a Wonderful Life. If you do not know that that is, you will learn about it (so sorry about that) and hear about some areas of the US that already have FOUR FEET of snow because of it. Some personal stories of a huge blizzard in Chicago and a drive across Michigan during a massive whiteout are part of the package today as well. Makes you feel cold!   If you give a child (not your own) your phone to play with and it gets broken, who should pay to have it fixed? That is topic number 2 on today's episode. There is always more to the story and Dan and Nicole try to uncover some of the underlying issues in the original story but the verdict remains the same. Tune in to hear what it is.   And finally, are you a weekly show watcher OR do you wait until all episodes have been released and then binge? Dan and Nicole discuss both options and which one they tend to follow. There is also a rant and discussion about spoilers in the headlines of news stories as well as a time frame for when spoilers should be allowed.   All of this and so much more on episode 78! Hello and welcome everyone to week 77 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Just an FYI, the next month or so is going to be a little bonkers with our schedules so keep your ears open for when/where our live stream(s) will be.   We kick things off and spend most of this episode with a story about one of our hosts and a ride-share that gets into an accident. First off, Dan did not know about all the options you have when you get a ride share (like quiet, temperature control etc.) and as the story illustrates, you do not always get what you pay for. So what happens with a ride share collides with a taxi on the highway?! Guess you will need to tune in to hear the details.   Dan's new dog is so great but there seems to be a language barrier. We hear all about it, how he discovered it and the training plan. This leads us down the path of police dogs and how they are trained, as well as how many languages they speak!   It does not seem like a lot on paper but believe you me, it is a lot of content this week. Check out stillspinningpodcast.com to find out how to become a Spinner, buy some sweet merch (the holidays ARE coming) and listen to back episodes.   Have a great week, everyone!

Hello everyone and welcome to episode #76 of the Still Spinning Podcast.   Dan kicks us off with a rant about "today's" music and how much he hates it. While Nicole can relate, it does make us all wonder if everyone of a certain age has the same reaction to these kinds of things. Nicole gives a brief recap on her trip to New Orleans which includes not one but TWO stories about inappropriate touching. Dan is just happy she made it home safe, even though she did not go to the ONE place in the city he asked her to go to (it has to do with Elvis).   There is a new movie coming out based on the Broadway hit Wicked, and there is merchandise galore. But Mattel is in some trouble for not fact-checking the movie's website address and instead releasing a line of dolls with a website to a porn production company's site. You can only imagine the uproar! That box has been recalled but is sure to be a collector's item.   They are proposing a new building in Manhattan and there are some ISSUES. The building is called Big Bend and you have to see it to believe it. Dan has a first thought about the building that honestly could get him in a lot of trouble. Nicole, along with folks in the chat, thinks it looks like the most terrifying building EVER and would never even think to enter it.   And last, in 2024 there are some jobs that are obsolete. Some you would expect, some Nicole and Dan had not really thought about. But they discuss them all!   Thanks so much for joining us. Hello everyone and welcome to episode 75 of the Still Spinning Podcast. On tonight's episode we talk about the end of October which means it is Halloween season! Dan shares his decorating and plan for the big night and Nicole shares a list of the most popular candy. Folks in the chat share their favorite candy as well and we reminisce about the days of razor blades in apples.   A few airline stories make the podcast this week. The first is a new process American Airlines is trying out to prevent people from boarding in a group they are not assigned to. Dan and Nicole are all for the literal bells and whistles of this new program. At an airport in New Zealand, there is a crack down on how long people can HUG before they are asked to take it to the parking lot. It is pretty funny.   Finally, the holiday season is upon us, and that is the gift of giving, but a story about an ANTI gift list caught our attention, and we chatted about it. Oh and also Dan has a new dog! We meet Charlie and get some real good pets.   Thanks so much for checking us out. Episode 72: "Deodorant Drama, Redbox Woes, and Wedding Whoops" - Still Spinning Podcast with Dan and Nicole   (Editors note: Nicole was "too tired" to write the summary for this week so she pawned it off on Dan. Dan knows Nicole is terrified of AI, so he used AI to write this summary.)   This week on the "Still Spinning Podcast," hosts Dan and Nicole kick things off with a light-hearted jab at Dan for single-handedly canceling their much-loved bonus spin segment. What went wrong? Only Dan knows, but he's not telling!   The episode takes an unexpected turn when Nicole recounts her bizarre discovery at Target: clearance deodorant with an aroma so unique, it's practically daring you to wear it. What scent could possibly be the last thing you'd want near your armpits? Tune in to discover this olfactory oddity!   Next, they dive into the surprising financial fallout of Redbox's bankruptcy. How much is this affecting the small businesses and shop owners who host these iconic DVD rental machines? Dan and Nicole break it down, exploring the ripple effects on local economies.   Wrapping up, they share a story that's sure to resonate with anyone who's ever received a wedding invitation. Imagine thinking you're attending the ceremony only to realize you're just there for the party. A couple's mishap with invitation clarity provides a lesson in wedding etiquette and expectations.   Additional Notes: For more in-depth stories, behind-the-scenes content, or to join the "Spinner" community, visit stillspinningpodcast.com. Welcome to episode 73 of the Still Spinning Podcast.   Nicole was at a Kevin Smith convention last weekend and had a great time! Highly recommend his new flick, The 4:30 Movie, especially if you are a kid of the 80's.   Bath and Body Works is in some trouble for releasing a new winter holiday candle with some questionable design work. It was brought to their attention that it looked like a certain racist organization's outfit, and Nicole agreed; it really does. Dan did not see it at first, he saw paper aliens, but when you look at it in a certain size or location... well, it is questionable. It is also just an ugly design, no matter how you look at it.   Dan cannot believe that the new SpaceX launch (or more importantly, the landing) is not a bigger news story. When he talked about it on the air, Nicole was not that interested or impressed. But he sent her a link to the video after and even she has to admit, it is pretty impressive. The topic turned to who would travel to Mars and one of them would, one would not. Guess which one?!   Lisa Marie Presley released a posthumous book, which has some very interesting information. The most shocking?? She kept her dead son's body in her house, on dry ice, for TWO MONTHS after he died. WTAF. There is also a weird story about some tattoo work, it really is a story to check out.   Spooky season is here and Nicole and Dan chat about some movies that are spooky and ones with big twists that they wish they could see again for the first time.   Tune into this week's episode for all of this and more! Dan created a pretty ingenious way to alert himself if/when it happens.   Dating stories abound and Nicole and Dan are both so happy to be "off the market." A woman went viral for sharing her shortest date in history story and why the date decided to end it after two minutes. Warning, it is not a very nice reason. This leads to Dan proposing a new kind of dating site that would be a huge success, no doubt about it.   Our water can be HACKED and has been. Honestly, what is the world coming to. We chat about what happened, what it could mean and the fact that Charmin has changed their perforation and it has really riled up both of our hosts.   Reading this summary you are probably thinking how did this take up 40 minutes and I would tell you but what would be the fun in that?! Dan and Nicole chat about weather and Halloween, turns out one of them really used to go all out for Halloween. Why did it stop? Tune in to find out. A whole lot of celebs died the week before we recorded this episode (or more have died since) and we chat about those folks and the loss. There is one in particular, a "sports guy," whom Dan gives Nicole some grief over, and then they play a little People's Court to see how Nicole passes judgment on him. Diddy has been IN THE NEWS. We chat a bit, on a lighthearted note, about Diddy and all his lube. Then things turn a bit more serious as obviously there are a lot of crimes and victims in this situation, and in others like it. To bring some levity back to the show this week, we talk about Dan and his terrible taste in steak temperatures. It came up because of a recent excursion he took to a steak house. We chat all things red meat and cooking temps. All of this and seriously, so much more on this episode of the Still Spinning Podcast. WORTH IT.   Gen Z is apparently using more sick days that other generations and there are a few reasons for it. Dan guesses what they are and he is not too far off. But some of the reasons are Sus (that is slang for suspect). It also leads into a discussion on Gen X and how we NEVER call in sick.   Journey, the band, had some issues with a live performance recently and it led to the singer going to social media to have folks vote on if he should quit or not. What the actual F?? Dan has some theories as does the chat. Tune in to hear some of them.   There is a zoo in China that has been painting DOGS to look like PANDAS and they got found out. This story made Nicole laugh quite a lot, it is pretty unbelievable.   And finally, a small British child has been denied a passport and you will not even believe the reason. He has turned his kitchen into an evidence/crime charting room and Nicole has to admit, it sounds like a lot of fun!   Nicole witnessed a disturbing customer service interaction over the weekend and shares the story and her reaction. Dan chimes in about his wife's worry about him getting involved in altercations he sees happening in the world.   Food sharing—is this just because we are getting old? Do we now want to share meals with our spouses? Also, it is a new trend to see the calories on the menu, and what a shock it is.   Dan likes watching videos of people traveling around on different types of transit. He saw a video recently that really turned him off for a particular mode of transportation, can you guess what it is?   An unruly passenger in Australia was recently ordered to reimburse the airline for gas money and Dan and Nicole are all for it. This was recorded much later than usual, at 9 PM, so get ready for some loosy-goosey late night fun.   Schools are back in session and that means that the "banned" items are hitting some news stories. There is a Wisconsin school that just banned cell phones, something that is getting pretty common, but what other things are being banned? Some you will guess, some you will not. Tune in to hear the chatter.   Should adults share a hotel room... ever? Dan was asked by a comedy booker to share a room with someone he barely knew. Nicole just got back from a weekend with family and did share a room. They chat about the pros and cons of this kind of set up.   Finally, a woman in Maine went viral for the way she wrote her mother's obituary. Dan and Nicole have different views on it, so take a listen and see who you side with. Talk about a total nightmare. Nicole shares this fear as well as one that involves eating while home alone. Dan also has a place he would hate to die. Lots of chatter about a very serious topic but do not worry, we add the levity it needs.   We then move on to talking about a VERY bad child who broke a VERY old artifact in a museum and how the museum is handling it. And how we would handle it. And who we blame. Which is a nice segue into a new warning from the U.S. Surgeon General about how bad parenting is for your health. Duh.   And finally, Dan shares a video with us all about a minor league baseball team's new bat DOG and how their first outing on the field went. Welcome to episode 65 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Summer is winding down, and the weather is getting nicer, but Dan and Nicole still seem up in arms about something.   First on the list is Grammar Nerd Dan and the use of the 's. Or just the '. It depends on the situation. This story kicks off because of the press, their use of the possessive tense, and the last name, Harris. The chat chimes in and Dan will hear nothing of it. He also shares some other recent arguments he has gotten into online, and both he and Nicole really lean into being old and start blaming the younger generation for pretty much all the world's problems.   There is a new term out there for parents: Venmo Mom. This is a person who does not want to volunteer to do any of the things at the kid's school but is happy to Venmo some cash to help. Nicole is all for this, but Dan thinks it is "bad parenting." Tune in to hear the arguments.   Wedding season is almost over, but we get another story about new wedding "trends." The story has two. First, there is the idea of the non-invite, where family and friends are sent a card saying they are NOT invited to the wedding. Second, there is texting those who are with their "jobs" for the day, including setting up and tearing down the reception. You know Dan and Nicole have some thoughts on both.   Finally, the kids do something right. Generation Z has been using some hilarious and appropriate out-of-office messages. This kicks off a discussion on whether to use an OOO or not. Also, I just realized that Dan probably does not even know Nicole does not put two spaces behind every period in these recaps.   You can find out more about us, how to become a Spinner, and some merch by visiting stillspinningpodcast.com. Nicole was NOT expecting it and it is a pretty funny video and exchange.   The Olympics just ended and Dan did not watch a single moment, something Nicole still finds shocking. But Nicole gives a recap, they discuss why Dan is not a fan and also what new sports we have to look forward to in LA for the next summer games. There is also quite a bit of talk about a certain pole valuter's.... pole.   Another event that just ended was the Wisconsin State Fair, Nicole's favorite thing. She recaps the fair's highs and lows, talks about the new circus, and explains how she created a Fair Guide for some people visiting Milwaukee for the first time.   In other news, Des Moines has a real backyard chicken problem on their hands. There is a law saying you can have backyard chickens in the city but apparently there are some issues and they want to change the law. He has come out before with some weird ways to up your scoops and we talk about it. Dan also lays out the 2 worst things of going to a Chipotle or Qdoba and that leads Nicole and Dan down a path about parents and children and a large wooden spoon.   And finally, George Lopez walked off stage during his set last week because of hecklers. Hello everyone and welcome to episode 62 of the Still Spinning Podcast. This week we really focused on topics that take us all away from the heavy news that is dominating the other news sources.   We kick things off talking about Dan's new life plan which is to live in an RV half the time and stay at people's houses pet sitting for the rest of the time. We talk about this plan fairly in-depth. Apparently, there is a website you can become a member of that allows you to stay, sometimes for extended periods of time, in someone's house to take care of their pets. In this segment Dan accidentally let it slip that he recently got some new item for his cat but would not share what it was. This comes back later. And it is WORTH IT.   No one should be surprised to hear that an influencer had a tragic fall recently while making an Instagram video. This leads us down a path of people being absolutely unaware of their surroundings and living through their phones. Put that damn phone down and watch the actual concert!!   Netflix just announced they are getting rid of their basic (most affordable) option. This kicks off a whole discussion on the downfall of cable, streaming services and what our lives have become.   And finally, Nicole convinces Dan to tell the story of what he got for the cat and it made her laugh SO DAMN HARD. Hello and welcome to the 61st episode of the Still Spinning Podcast. The weather has been a little nutty here in the Midwest so we kick things off by Dan talking a bit about what has been happening and the inclement weather headed towards both Dan and Nicole as the taping was happening. For those who do not know, Dan loves meteorology and has the Dan Deibert Command Center all fixed up to monitor the weather.   It was a rough week for Gen X. We lost Shannan Doherty, Dr. Ruth and Richard Simmons so we discuss the impact a few of those people had on us specifically. Dan goes into his issues with Dr. Ruth and we honor their memory.   Can we all agree not to shoot people, even when we do not agree? That is our next topic. We do not get political on this show, that is not something we are interested in doing, but we do need to address the fact no one should be shooting anyone.   Now on to the fun stuff! McDonald's Coke/Diet Coke is superior and anyone will tell you that. They have done some scientific studies as to WHY and there are 5 main reasons. Dan thinks he knows 3, is he right?? Welcome to episode 60 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Dan is on-site at a job, so he is out of his normal studio space and very unhappy with his hair.   The first topic we tackle tonight is a positive initiative coming out of California. They are working towards making a financial understanding class mandatory for their high schools. While Dan and Nicole agree this is a fabulous idea, of course SOMETHING about it has to piss us off, it is who we are. First off, Dan cannot believe that California, of all places, is enacting this as they have issues balancing their own budgets. This whole topic goes down a pretty deep rabbit hole that you have to hear to believe.   The EU has a new mandate for cars, and it is not good for anyone. This leads us into a discussion about Google Maps versus Apple Maps, how we are always being tracked, and a bit about how AI will ruin everything. It is a real pick-me-up segment.   At this point we are running long so I (Nicole) let Dan pick the final topic, thinking there is no way he could make a feel good story about meeting your neighbors into something to be mad about. BUT HE DID! He never backs down from a challenge.   You can find out more about the podcast by visiting stillspinningpodcast.com. You can also get some sweet merch and listen to back episodes. Summer is fully here and tomorrow is the 4th of July so before you go on a picnic or watch some fireworks, we hope you enjoy this episode of the podcast.   The Olympic trials just wrapped up, and one of us was very excited and watched a whole lot of them, and the other is "not an Olympic person." Can you guess which is which? Nicole would love to see a new addition to the Olympics - the Average Person. Put just an average person into every track and field event and really see how impressive these athletes are. Dan shares something he gets excited about: outer space stuff.   Can you get arrested for giving a state trooper the bird? Well, it happened in Vermont, but Nicole thinks there is way more to the story than the story tells us. We discuss it, and Dan shares some tips on how NOT to get arrested.   What scares Dan more than most things? SINKHOLES. There is a story out of a small town outside of St. Louis about a sinkhole that appeared under a soccer field and this thing is WILD. We set a record for length this week, but it is a good time, so strap in and prepare yourself!   We kick things off with an update on a story we mentioned last week about the guy who showed up to his "suspended license" virtual court date WHILE DRIVING. Remember him? Well, it turns out he NEVER HAD A LICENSE. It is a pretty interesting story, and we chatted about it.   A new survey came out about Gen Z and how involved their parents get with their job interviews. It is SHOCKING, and may be another indicator of how doomed we all are.   Speaking of being doomed, Divorce Registries are a thing now! This leads us down a path of Nicole telling the story of how she and Dan were put together on the air in the first place, and that leads Dan down a path of working in radio. It is a fun little journey down memory lane.   Finally, Nicole shares a personal story about massage parlors and how she may have accidentally gone to one that provides more than just a rubdown. It is quite a story, AND she forgot to add that she had to pay upfront AND could not leave a tip on a credit card. Even more proof that there was something "extra" going on? You will have to listen and judge for yourself.   Thanks for checking us out! Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode #55 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We recorded this on DAN'S BIRTHDAY so please enjoy Nicole signing to him. It is also his wedding anniversary! Dan shares his weekend of celebration with us but of course, in Old Man Dan fashion, he has lots to say about the youths he encountered.   That leads us to a story Nicole found about a woman who refuses to put her shopping cart away when she has her kids with her. What an a-hole. We discuss the downfall of society and Nicole declares the youths Dan ran into over the weekend either turn into this cart lady OR the guy who called into a Zoom court date for his suspended license WHILE DRIVING!!   If you remember us talking about the Japanese city that wanted to block the amazing view so that tourist would not come to their town, we have an update for you! They put up a screen, and let's just say, it is not going well. We had some thoughts on that.   Big news in the soda world: Dr. Pepper has overtaken Pepsi as the #2 most popular soda in the US!! Dan tells us a new "law" he wants to be enacted, which concerns Dt. Mountain Dew, and we also find out how much his mom loved Pepsi.   And finally, a thief was caught in England and truly had the best reason for his crime. You have to hear it to believe it.   Thanks for checking our the podcast! You can find more information and back episodes on our website stillspinningpodcast.com.

Hello and welcome to episode #54 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We recently found out we have some subscribers through Spotify (hello and thank you!) and we are unable to see who they are! That means we cannot send them (in the mail) the fun stuff Dan impulse purchases, so if you are one of those people and want the fun freebies, please let us know.   We kick things off with a segment called "What Annoyed You This Week." It is impossible to list ALL the things, but Dan and Nicole each manage to bring up one. For Dan, someone working at Starbucks was talking about music made in the 1980s and phrased it in such a way that it made Dan mad. For Nicole, it was all about people on social media asking questions that should really be addressed to some sort of professional (like a doctor or accountant).   A new trend called REJECTION THERAPY is making the rounds on Tik Tok and boy, we had a lot to say about that. And where it stems from (hint - participation trophies). It is a pretty fun little chat, you should probably check it out.   And finally, an animal topic. A woman surrendered her dog to be euthanized but it wasn't and a year later, she wants it back. Some strong feelings were shared as well as some theories.   All of this AND MORE in this week's episode. Check out stillspinningpodcast.com for more on the show, merch, and how you can become a sponsor.

Hello and welcome to episode 53 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We appreciate you checking us out.   The Northern Lights were visible in MANY areas that usually cannot see them over the past weekend; did you check them out? What did the Dan Deibert Weather Center think about them? Were they visible in Chicago? We chat about this and who is likely pretty angry that they were visible to us in the US.   A man in California was asked (told he had to by his neighborhood association) to put up a fence so that his boat would no longer be visible to the neighbors, and his solution was genius. He put up the fence all right and then hired an artist to paint on that fence. If you watch, and not just listen, you will get to see the artwork he put up. He has got a lot of attention for his solution. Dan shares a kinda similar story about a couple and an RV park that is not to be missed. Petty? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely.   A woman exited prison and immediately tried to steal a car but something stopped her. Cops? Nope. An anti-theft device? Nope. It was a stick shift. This leads to a conversation about stick shifts, carjacking, and pizza delivery. We also delve into driving in Europe and Nicole uses the term "heathens" as part of the explanation for why the UK drives on the "other" side of the road. Dan's reaction is one for the ages.   Speaking of drivers, Chicago has just made the Forbes list as one of the WORST cities for drivers. Well DUH. Dan shares some summer plans he has and the things he will do, and pay, to avoid driving through Chicago. Nicole shares everyday life on the roads in Chi-town.   And finally, McDonald's has announced they are launching a new $5 meal deal. We discuss the meal, the current state of the local McD's and what we suspect will happen with the deal.   Tune in for all of this and more! You can find merch and sponsor opportunities on our website, stillspinningpodcast.com. Thanks so much for listening!

Welcome to episode 52 of the Still Spinning Podcast. That is right, we have made enough episodes that you could listen to one a week for a WHOLE YEAR!!   20 years ago, the finale of Friends aired. THE FINALE. Wasn't 20 years ago 1980?? We discuss the show, the finale, and what it means to be a Gen X kid who thinks "everything" was 20 years ago.   Dan ordered from Little Caesar's over the weekend and found out, the hard way, that they use DoorDash as their delivery service. Did he get his food? Did he get a refund? You will have to listen to find out.   There is a new office term (when isn't there??), and this one is called "rage applying." It happens when you really hate your job and start applying to anything and everything. Now, call me silly, but I feel like that is when I applied to all my jobs... isn't that just normal?? People do not leave jobs they love, right?   Finally, there is a small town in Japan that is sick of tourists, and they have a unique way of handling them. Or at least making it a less desirable place to visit.   All of this and more on episode 52! Make sure to check out our website for even more cool stuff - stillspinningpodcast.com. Have a great week!

Welcome to episode 51 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Nicole has COVID once again and Dan has dubbed her "Nicovid" and it is pretty funny.   This episode seems to have an "animal" theme. Some Scottish ladies in Romania ran into some trouble when trying to get a "nice" picture with a WILE BEAR. Needless to say, someone got mauled. This sparks a discussion on people VS animals and who is in the right (hint, it is the animals). Yellowstone and bison are mentioned and Dan had to run off to get a picture of Vigo from Ghostbusters 2.   Phish was at the Sphere in Vegas and we can only imagine the altered states of the folks in that dome. We talk about the coolness of the venue and Nicole shares what her ideal venue is, a place she has yet to visit. Have you ever packed your cat in a box and sent it to the Amazon return center?? Well, a woman in Utah did, and we tell the tale of the cat.   A little girl was scared of the monsters in her room and imagine her parent's surprise when a GIANT bee colony was discovered in her wall. GIANT. 50,000. This leads to a confession by Dan about his interest in a beekeeper's suit, and a comment Nicole makes gets taken out of context.   OKC is getting a big building, which we talked about LAST week, but this week they were hit by tornados. Do you think anyone has doubted any decisions?? Dan also dreams up a new podcast he would like to create, which involves a 360-degree camera on the top of his car, and he is already getting crowd support. Will it ever happen?! We will see.   Check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com to learn more about us and to catch any episode you may have missed. Want even MORE content?! Welcome to episode 50 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We recorded live on Earth Day and the first day of Passover. Dan got the cool new light working and we were off to the races.   Nicole found a story in People this week about a man who, on his honeymoon, took his wife's business class flight upgrade and then could not figure out why she was mad. Is it EVER ok to take an upgrade if you are traveling with your SO?? This leads to some flight preferences for Dan and Nicole and also a discussion on the Mile High Club. What a kick-off for the night.   There is a new building being built in the US that will be one of the highest in the country. Guess where? You cannot, I assure you. Let's just say the Tornado Belt is involved and we chat about Dan's stay at a really swanky place in Dallas and his near miss of a tornado there. He has also decided he wants to be a professional storm chaser or at least get the cool 360-degree camera on his car.   And finally, is this person an A-HOLE for asking people for $5 towards a backyard renovation instead of getting their kid a birthday present for their birthday party?? No discussion needed, yes, yes they are. But there are more details and witty banter about it, so tune in and check it out!   We are adjusting our timing for next week so stay tuned to learn when it will be!   Check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com for all the things.

Happy Tax Day everyone and welcome to episode 49 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We have officially made it one full year and we cannot thank you enough for all your support. One of our supporters, An, sent us a really cool Still Spinning light that Dan will have displayed on our future shows.   We kicked things off talking about one of Nicole's favorite headlines? Sub headline? I am not sure what the official name is but the term "fecal fiasco" was used and quite honestly, the author deserves some sort of prize in journalism for that phrase. We chat about flying with dogs and it seems Bark Box may be coming out with a dog friendly airline and we are here for it. Dog poo or human poo, neither is desirable when on a plane.   Disneyland is updating a rule they have because, of course, the general public took advantage and ruined it for folks who actually need it. Tune in to hear more AND hear about Dan's lack of desire to ever go to a Disney park! One of our listeners had some inside info and shared it in the chat, which is always fun!   Have you ever been with someone who took the tip you left for the waitstaff? Have you ever seen someone do it? Have you ever had to make up for a crappy tipper? We touch on all these ideas during the third story of our episode in which we discuss a story that a server put on TikTok about someone taking her tip off the table.   Thanks again for tuning in and if you are a Spinner, a special shoutout to you and a thank you for all your support! Welcome to episode 48 of the Still Spinning Podcast, the Total Eclipse edition. To start us off, Dan tells a story of meeting a listener of the podcast out in the wild! It is a first for us and we were excited.   Yesterday was the eclipse, and we would have been remiss not to talk about it. Dan was sending Nicole updates and instructions on the best time to watch and it was totally worth it.   Imagine sitting in the window seat of a plane as it is taking off and you see part of the engine cover blowing in the wind. This happened Sunday to a passenger on a Southwest flight and we shared some (what looked to Nicole like) scary footage but Dan said it was no big deal! Looked like a big deal to Nicole!   Nicole loves Costco and has been trying to convert Dan for years and is close to breaking him. Costco is in the news as they are cracking down on who can purchase their famous $1.50 hot dog/soda combo and TBH, Nicole did not realize it needed to be cracked down on. This led to a mini discussion on stores with rules that they do not enforce. And somehow, it also leads to a discussion of wrestling, particularly WWF/WWE in the 80's. It was quite a night!   Thanks for tuning in! Please check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com and tell your friends to check us out!
