Welcome to the first episode of the new year. We wanted to get these to you sooner but to be honest we didn't want you to forget to listen and watch during the holidays. With that being said, we start it off right, with former Green Beret, TV Star (The Selection) and practitioner of all things combat and combative, Mr. Donnie Bowen of Bowen Combative Arts Academy. From knife fighting to ground fighting he does it. When I first saw Donnie walk into Leatherwood Distillery for his recording, I instantly had the worse feeling in my bones and muscles. Why? Well Donnie is that guy that when you first started out and you believed the hype around Boyd Belts and then learned that the smaller guy in the gym could chew you up and down the mat and spit you up and down the mat. Pretty soon you had your belt around your neck and woven between your toes and you just slapped hands. I say all this to say we had a truly great time talking with Donnie. No, we didn't spend a ton of time on his career in the military but more time as a career father and what martial arts means to raising kids and discipline (I feel sorry for the kids that tried to bully his kids in school) He truly is what we need in America today when it comes to raising youth. And yes, sometimes that is an old fashion ass whooping on the mats. Sometimes it's okay to hit something, an idea so many Americans have never experienced. So pumped to bring this to you. Hope you all enjoy. Thank you to our Cost Host and PREMIER SPONSOR of this episode Andy Lang of Leatherwood Distillery. Please go support Donnie not only his gym and pages but more importantly his nonprofit.

Join us as we recorded live from Leatherwood Distillery in PleasantView, Tennessee. We set down with former Green Beret and Distillery Owner Andy Lang and his former Afghanistan Interpreter Masoud for an incredible episode. From the age of 13, providing for his seven brothers and sisters, working countless hours in a bakery, Masoud knew he was meant for something great. When one day while riding his bike, a group of barrel chested, long beard freedom fighters pulled up to his village got out of their vehicle and began giving him orders to leave. Being who he was he was in awe of these strange men. Shortly thereafter he would watch these men drop fire on evil souls in a nearby village killing a local terrorist group. From then on, he set out on a goal to serve his country in a way that would serve a purpose so much greater than just that. I am telling you this guy needs a movie or a book or all of the above. And of course a big Thank you to Texas Gun Experience for having us out. We wish the shooting of Officers was an uncommon event but in a common world of evil that is just not the case. In episode 40 we sit down with Operation Enduring Warrior Honoree Alex Douglass. A Pennsylvania State Trooper who ambushed by a sniper lying in wait. Ultimately that grave night Douglass survived while his partner Cpl Dickson II was killed by the same sniper.  And yes the shooting of officers is not uncommon but what is, is the outlook these brave warriors face in the after math of their own certain death. Aside from being shot he was later faced with the amputation due to damage by the 308 caliber round. So once again he was faced with a decision and an obstacle to overcome. Day 3 at the Tactical Games. The final day of the games was packed with hard obstacles and great interviews. We couldn't stay long since we had to catch a flight, but we got in some great guests. First, we sat down with The Tactical Games duo, Tim Burke and Sarah (yes we got her on), and broke down the weekend. Next, the one and only, Jake Mizell, from Triple C Range, who was the weekend's Match Director. And of course after she made buttons for the podcast, we had to sit and talk with TG competitor, Sabine, and her mother to get a their view of the weekend. Next, If you're a competitor you need to be following, Tes - Shoot for Gold, a professional competitive shooter and 5x TG winner. We headed back down to Triarc Systems to officially kick off the “Pushing the Line” series with an incredible and honest conversation with two board members of TTPOA. Brandon and Derrick shed light on the needs and necessitates of police officers in today's trying times. From the real dangers of defunding the police, to how important funding training is, to what it takes to lead when it feels like the world is against you. This was a great discussion with several different points of view on our current climate within policing and in our nation. This is not just a topic for law enforcement, it's a discussion for our nation and one many people need to hear right now. How can we push the line to be more uncommon? How can we always push forward in our lives? Two important questions facing law enforcement and our communities right now, and a simple answer is - TRAIN HARD. TTPOA – Texas Tactical Police Officer Association is a nonprofit organization that offers training for law enforcement agencies not only in Texas but all over the US and even in other countries. TTPOA is changing the culture one training iteration at a time. Make sure and go and check out www.ttpoa.org and www.triarcsystems.com for the latest training and firearms. '

Have you ever wondered what the mindset of others before self could obtain? Well Average Joes Range Day is an example of individuals who came together for the betterment of others. We had the opportunity to spend the day hanging at Triple C Range for Average Joes Range Day. To say we were blown away with this group of individuals is such an understatement. We always say Uncommon, but what was special about this day was the common goal of individuals coming together through community. One person, one round at a time, relationships were built. How can we change the culture? How can we become better? How do we reach the unknown? Well the answer is events such as Average Joes Range Day. It wasn't about race, gender, status, or where you came from, it was about coming together to become better. If you listened to episode 19 with Jimmy Rodriguez you would hear the sincerity of the OG's and in the creation of this event. This hour long interview, we couldn't begin to cover all that this man is and has done. During Boot Camp he tried out and was accepted for Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training and reported to BUDS in January 1995. He graduated with BUDS class 202 in December 1995. Jason spent ten years as an enlisted Navy SEAL and ten years as a SEAL officer leading SEAL teams in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. From failure as a young leader and almost being kicked out of the SEAL Teams, to redemption and leading teams in intense combat operations in Iraq, to being shot 8 times including a round to the face, Jason has lived the OVERCOME MINDSET he teaches. Jonas brought an incredible story of service and selflessness to the episode. He served in the U.S. Army both in the Rangers and the elite Green Berets. The perspective of these two warriors was captured perfectly. We ran the gamut in this episode, from Jonas's first mission on Roberts Ridge as a 19-year-old Army Ranger to raising children in today's world. We were humbled by this opportunity and can't wait for you to listen to this incredible episode.  Although both Chris and Jonas are no longer in the military their service to others has not stopped. When looking for a location to host the recording of country music artist Ryan Weaver (Episode 13), we called around to several places and kept getting turned down. We ended up on the phone with Andy Lang of Leatherwood Distillery. In good fashion it turned out Andy and Ryan knew each other. I started looking up the distillery and its story and found out that Andy deserved his own podcast episode. And so Episode 14 was born. A U.S. Army Green Beret who served his country for 26 years, 16 years of which were served in the elite special forces unit. When you walk into this awesome distillery it is covered in memorabilia commemorating those that serve and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Sitting at the bar you can't help but think of all the incredible stories each piece hanging on the wall could tell. Andy is a warrior's warrior and this is easily felt upon meeting him and his staff. Then the booze started to flow and let me tell you, his stuff is freaking awesome. Trust us, between the two day's of hanging out at the distillery, we tried it all, from the bourbon, rye to his awesome tequila. Andy has built his business with the warrior mindset and has instilled this into every aspect of his brand. From his entire distillery burning down, only a short few months ago, to rebuilding it with the help of the veteran community, Andy is staying true to his warrior way. It was an honor to sit and drink with such and uncommon warrior. I encourage you all to check out the Leatherwood Distillery, a distillery built by warriors for warriors.I encourage all of you to listen to this awesome episode and hear how a Green Beret who once made booze from skittles, bread and an MRE is making incredible whiskey to share with his community. Over the years we have had the opportunity to work with some amazing companies in our line of work and this weeks guest is at the top of that list. We took a trip to Triarc Systems to interview the owner and CEO, Chris Reeves. We have known about this incredible company for several years now and both Mark and I use their weapons on duty. After our interview with Chris we learned this isn't just a firearm company this is a mindset and a lifestyle. To say it was an honor is an understatement. The lessons learned just from this brief podcast with Chris is something we all need to take to heart in the crazy world we live in. Chris and his team are as Uncommon as they come, from leadership to mindset to bad ass weapons; we cover it all in Ep. 10 with Chris Reeves of Triarc System. With a fervent interest for American war and weapons history, Chris Reeves founded TRIARC in September of 2013. As a former paratrooper, unit 1/505PIR in the 82nd airborne division, Chris' military service of 14 years included two one-year combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Chris was specifically trained and developed a strong talent for problem solving and working with mission specific equipment. Leadership skills were acquired during his deployments to Iraq as Chris was a squad leader and platoon sergeant in the 4th infantry division. Faced with battleground hardships, he had to ‘charlie mike' (continue mission), many times when challenges seemed insurmountable. After being wounded overseas and receiving a Purple Heart, Chris retired from the military and remained in Texas to work in the firearms industry. He was finally able to converge all of his values to a specific task: fine tuning the modern AR weapon system. (information take from www.triarcsystems.com)All music brought to you by Nothing More. How many of you think our world needs more gutsy, bold, disruptive leaders? Our next speaker believes we do and is here to show us how we can embody this type of leadership. David Vobora grew up with a football in his hands and the NFL in his dreams. His path to the NFL, however, was anything but simple. After playing football at the University of Idaho, he was the last pick in the 2008 draft earning him the not-so- coveted title of Mr. Irrelevant. David used this underestimation of his skills and abilities to his advantage during his 4-year career with the St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks. David's career wasn't over after he hung up his jersey in 2012. On the contrary, it was just beginning. Upon retiring from the NFL, he opened Performance Vault — a sports performance training center aimed at helping rebuild wounded warriors whose potential was grossly unrecognized by society. At Performance Vault, he emphasized strength training, a tribal mindset, and the ability to use one's underdog status to their advantage. Soon after, David met quadruple amputee and military veteran, Travis Mills. This chance encounter led to an explosion of growth at Performance Vault and the launch of a non-profit organization called Adaptive Training Foundation. The growth trajectory at ATF has been astounding. They've built a world class team and they now operate out of an 18,000 square foot facility in Dallas, Texas. David's desire to pour his heart, mind, and soul into everything he does has resulted in a new industry standard for training those with physical disabilities. ATF's first-of- its-kind Train the Trainer program provides physically disabled people access to equal means of physical fitness. David has an unmatched ability to connect with people. He genuinely believes in others until they believe in themselves. He has the gift of making people feel loved for who they are and not for what they do or what they can provide. David is a hope dealer, an alchemist of human development, and a sweat psychologist. He always has one eye on personal and foundational growth, the other eye ensuring no one is left behind in the process, and both feet firmly planted in the present. And we're grateful he is here with us today. Please join me in welcoming David Vobora.
