As we remember the lives of those lost on this Memorial Day, revisit some of Will's best conversations with four retired Navy SEALS reminding us of the values and virtues that come from a life of service. First, in an excerpt from his appearance with Will last Thursday, Mike Sarraille, retired Navy SEAL and Host of FOX Nation's 'The Unsung Of Arlington,' shares the stories of a handful of American heroes you may not have heard. Will is then joined by retired Navy SEAL, Co-author of ‘Extreme Ownership' and ‘The Dichotomy of Leadership,' & Host of the ‘Jocko Podcast,' Jocko Willink to discuss how discipline is the path to freedom, to always take responsibility for your own actions and failures, and much more. Retired Navy SEALs, Bill Brown & Jason Redman, then share about their successful march with military special forces veterans on Washington, D.C. in support of then Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth and why it was so important to stand up for someone who stands up for the war fighters. There's a growing weight on young men who feel like they're stuck between who they are and who they're supposed to be. Fear, doubt, and the constant noise of comparison create this low hum of paralysis that's hard to shake. Some fold under it, others find a way to push through—and that difference often comes down to refusing to give up responsibility for their own life. It's not about having the answers right away, but being willing to take back the wheel.Jason Redman is a retired Navy SEAL, speaker, and author of Overcome and The Trident. Known for his "Sign on the Door" mindset, he teaches resilience, leadership, and growth through his military and life experiences. Today, he speaks about leading at home and in life. He shares stories from combat, lessons on marriage and parenting, and stresses the value of responsibility, grit, and constant self-improvement. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond!Quotes: “Every single human can relate to the bullets and bombs of life. You've been blown up by rejection and failure. You've been shot down by injury, illness or loss.” – Jason Redman“God provided the skills and talent, but it's up to you to unlock the greatest version of yourself—He wasn't the one lifting those weights; you were.” – Jason Redman“Your success and your ability to be great in this life is directly proportional to you. It doesn't guarantee you're going to accomplish every goal and dream you go after. But we need to teach kids once again that you have the power to be amazing.” – Jason Redman“You have the standards and values, you don't compromise on them, and then you build everything else and you keep building that over time.” – Matt BeaudreauTakeaways:Write your personal "sign on the door" - a clear statement of who you want to become, and place it where you'll see it daily.Choose one area (physical, personal, professional) and commit to being 10% better this month through specific, measurable actions.Have an honest conversation with your spouse or closest teammate about shared goals and dreams for the next 5 years.Pick one physical or skill-based activity that pushes you out of your comfort zone and requires consistent practice.Identify one victim mentality thought pattern you currently have and replace it with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Conclusion:Real leadership starts with self-awareness—knowing what matters most, staying focused on clear goals, and not allowing outside pressures to shape who you are. When people choose to face challenges head-on instead of backing down, they grow stronger and more confident in every area of life. This mindset not only builds personal strength, but also supports deeper connections and a greater sense of purpose. It's less about control and more about showing up fully, even when things are hard.
Jason and Erica Redman talk about their book "Mission: Invincible Marriage- A Battle-Tested Guide to an Enduring Relationship." Jason Redman is a former Navy SEAL who was seriously injured during his deployment in Iraq. Their marriage endured through that incredibly difficult period.
Mission: Invincible Marriage by Jason Redman, the former Navy SEAL and New York Times bestselling author of The Trident, and his wife, Erica (with a foreword by Gary Sinise) is a battle-tested guide to an enduring marriage that draws on the lessons of elite warriors to build a winning relationship, no matter the challenges and traumas that life sends your way. < The divorce rate among Navy SEALs is over 90 percent, and the rate among severely wounded warriors is even higher. Erica and Jason Redman knew their marriage faced an uphill climb, because Jason is both. In 2007, Jason's patrol was ambushed by a machine gunners' nest in Iraq. Thirty-seven surgeries, 1,200 stitches, and a grueling years-long rehab would follow. Despite all that-plus the daily demands of raising three children and running a successful business together-Jason and Erica's marriage has remained invincible. Every day, you make choices that either build up your relationship or leave it exposed and vulnerable to attack. The highest-performing warrior teams pay attention to developing muscle-memory habits, and your marriage can benefit from the same focus. In Mission: Invincible Marriage, Jason and Erica share the tools they use to lay the foundational beliefs and communication skills a marriage needs to last for life. Each chapter helps readers develop a key tenet of successful relationship-building. He is also the author of the memoir The Trident: The Forging and Reforging of a Navy SEAL Leader and of the book Overcome: Crush Adversity with the Leadership Techniques of America's Toughest Warriors. On September 13th, 2007, he was caught in an ambush in Fallujah, Iraq where he was hit by eight rounds from automatic weapon fire. One of the rounds entered the right side of his face, entering his jaw and exiting through his nose. He managed to survive the attack and went viral during his recovery process for posting an anti-pity sign on the door of his hospital room. In this interview, we discuss what drew him to the military and specifically to the SEALs, how the darkest day of his life is probably not the one you would guess, whether it was harder to rebuild his credibility with his teammates after a leadership failure or rebuild his body after being shot, what was running through his head when he thought he was going to die, why he thinks that God gave him the strength to walk off of the battlefield after being wounded, where the motivation came from to write the sign that he hung on the door of his hospital room, how we can focus on leveling up regardless of our circumstances, and much more.
